Help us Help Vinnie

Posted by Xgirl on 2012-04-06 10:58:15

Vinnie is nearly 5 years old. He has fragile X syndrome a genetic disorder that presents like autism but is far far worse with retardation. He is trapped in his own body unable to communicate with us and gets so frustrated he bites his hands, they are scarred and bleed alot.

My sister and I (who have the fragile x gene and are affected in ways other than mentally) desperately want and need to go to the Fragile X International conference in Miami in July this year. But we live in New Zealand and it is going to cost about 16 grand to get there. They are doing workshops on the latest techniques to get through to kids like Vinnie.

Our mother has dementia and this will be the last time my sister will be able to leave her as she deteriorates, I have custody of my disabled sister and this year have someone who will look after her while I am gone... We so need to understand this horrible disorder that has so changed our lives.

We will be among only a handful of people from our country going and we will be teaching other families who are dealing with Fragile X the methods we learn when we return.

Please help us, we are fundraising as much as we can and selling off everything that we can but it is not enough as all our money goes to helping Vinnie and mum and my sister.

Thanks for reading this

Travel Dreams for a Kiwi Couple (New Zealand)

Posted by Kiwilady24 on 2012-03-10 04:58:10

Hello Everyone, I'm a 24 year young lady living in New Zealand with my partner of one year.

I have some grand travel plans. New Zealand being a small country I know there is such a wide world to explore.

I don't have a sob story to tell you as everyone in life is fighting their own battles, some bigger than others, some may seem more important than others.

I do work full time and try and save as much as I can whilst also paying off my $18,000 worth of debt (Car, Lawyers, Seperation fees etc) and being on one income, my partners role was made redundent so he is currently unemployed :(. So far my travel account has $330, nearly enough for a air fair to Australia one way.

I have a wild passion for travel, when I was married I was very held back by my husband but now I'm free, have grown so personally and wish to explore this whole world. EAT PRAY LOVE is such a inspirational movie!! I'm already selling what I can with Garage sales, working extra cash jobs, watering plants, house sitting etc to try and save faster.

I wish to travel to

Australia - Espically the Gold Coast, take my partner to all the theme parks.

I would love to explore the out back and rough it for a few nights

USA - I would love to travel LA to NY along route 66. I would love to go to Texas, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm and more. My dream job a Rollarcoaster Tester!! Travel the world playing on rollarcoasters. I'm no boring chick, I like adventure and just wish to explore this world.... oh and defintitly want to chase a tornado in America.

Would also love to go to Egypt, Italy, Rome, Thailand. I'm ready to pack up and go. Happy to work when I get to these countries to help my self around.

Im just asking anyone who has kindness in their hearts to help my partner and I, go exploing in this wide world...

PS- If this helps my chances, my partner doesnt believe this will work, (he is a worry wort, I'm the free spirit / universe believer) he made me a deal, if I get at least $500 he will run nudey down the road!! Haha I shook on it and now he is worried.

If you would like to help a young Kiwi Couple out then please donate to us, what ever you can.

Thank you in advance

May you pay it forward an the goodness be returned

URGENT: My fathers medical bills.

Posted by frankverrall on 2011-12-06 21:58:59

My dad is 83, he has a mortgage of around $30,000. Because of his age, he is unemployed. We are from New Zealand

He took out a mortgage on the house to cover medical bills. Such as surgery and home-help. Medications, travel etc.

He's been in a wheelchair and I'm struggling to look after him. I'm 22, I even stopped studying to look after him. I don't know what to do, because of this I can't get my education.

His wife (my mother) died in an accident on feburary 22nd this year while she was working in one of the buildings in christchurch destroyed by the earthquake.

I never thought about begging in my life before, But it has come down to this.

I plead to all of you, PLEASE help me. Help me to clear my fathers debt. Our whole family is destroyed because of this.

It's hasn't gotten better, it's only deteriorating.

Your thankful donation will go straight to paying off his mortgage. I wish by the time my father passes away, he will pass knowing he is debt and worry free.

Please help me, anything.. Big or small, Thank you so much

Help for medical bills for disability, esp while trying to study

Posted by Regan_NZ on 2011-11-05 04:58:51

I have Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) which affects my hands especially. I am a 27 y.o. female, and been in and out of the hospital system in New Zealand for over 8 years now. I find it very difficult to write and use standard computer keyboards without severe pain. I receive an Invalids benefit in NZ, while I attempt to study part-time. I have tried getting as much assistance from government services here, but as I am trying to better myself by getting a higher education it feels like I am being penalised for this.
So while trying to study natural health, I have medical bills of my own to cover and do not even own my own computer to help me study.

Help me pay for Missionary Training School this fall

Posted by superchick3177 on 2011-07-30 19:58:36

Hello! I am 18 years old and just graduated and, although it is a milestone, I know it is only the beginning of my life. To prepare myself for all of the new challenges and tribulations I will have as an adult, I have choose to go a different path then most of my classmates. Instead of going to college right away or taking a year off, I have decided to do a BDTS (Backpackers Discipleship Training School) in New Zealand.

DTS is the training program for Youth With A Mission (YWAM). YWAM is a world-wide, youth based missionary organization whose motto is "to know God and to make him known." Each DTS starts with a 3 month lecture faze meant for me to "know God." During this time i will be stationed in New Zealand studying various topics and learning from multiple speakers. On the weekends me and my team will make trips to Christchurch as well as adventurous outdoor trips. After that, the next faze is the outreach to "make him known." This is the part where i will be backpacking around New Zealand with my team spreading the word of God. After that i graduate from the program and am able to become a part of the organization's staff.

I am so excited to do this training. This Training is just what I need to set a good foundation with Christ in my life before being thrown into the college life to become a nurse.

Of course, there are also large obstacles set in front of me that, if it were not for God, I would see as without a solution.

This specific backpacking DTS is offered only once every few years and costs $11,000. That is including the $3000 plane ticket, backpacking gear, food, tuition, traveling within NZ and health insurance. I have raised, thanks to the help of my family, friends and my church, $8,600. This leaves me with about $2500 left to raise by September 28th of 2011 (just a few months away now).

I KNOW that with the help my friends, family, my two jobs, God and you, it WILL happen. I know this because God wants me to go. Simple as that. And when God wants something, he makes it happen as long as you cooperate and trust in him. And that, I do.

If donating is something you feel you are be able to do I would be so very thankful. And I remind you that anything helps. Being a waitress, I know that even small quantities add up to a large sum.

For information on YWAM and DTS please visit ywam.org/training and for information on my specific DTS go to ywamoxford.org/backpackers

Help Needed After Facing Some Hard Knocks

Posted by lubbielu on 2011-07-23 07:58:30

It all starts two years ago when I had a real estate business. I had known there was something wrong with me for years but 2 years ago I had only just been diagnosed with Endometriosis. The pain associated with it was excruciating and after all those years of pain it went on to develop into chronic pain syndrome.

I was lucky to have a partner to help support me through my illness, but with his own health issues the real estate business failed and I ended up deep in debt. In February this year I had to do a Non Asset Procedure, which is a less harsh form of bankruptcy.

Due to my bad health and Chronic pain I have been unable to work much in the last couple of years, but I decided to make good use of my time and have been studying towards my Bachelor of Communications in Media Studies and Journalism.

In September of last year my city that I lived in, Christchurch New Zealand was hit by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. Luckily for us it struck in the middle of the night and was centred quite a way outside of the City so there was a lot less damage than people would expect from an earthquake of that size. However just when we were all getting back on our feet, on February 22nd this year the city was hit again. This time the quake was a 6.3 and was centred under the city, which meant unimaginable damage to our entire city and 188 people were dead.

I left the city that day because I couldnt deal with the emotional and mental toll it was taking on me. I had to leave my friends and family behind. Myself and my partner moved to the North Island to a place called Paraparaumu, it is a 9 hour drive and ferry ride from my family and home town. The move cost us a lot of money and we have struggled to survive up here as there are not many jobs.

On top of that myself and my partner are separating, which leaves me financially worse off, with no job and no car, and health needs.

I am such a proud person who doesnt like to take even a couple of dollars from people, but I am desperate and need some help. I need to buy a car so that I can still remain mobile. Healthwise I'm able to go back to working part time so need a car for transport for work.

Please if anyone can help or donate a few dollars here and there I would be eternally greatful. I am a great believer of paying it forward and intend to do just that when I am finally on my feet. I also do a lot of advocating for organisations like Greenpeace and Amnesty International. I may not be able to offer them financial help right now but I'm always willing to spread the word and message they need to spread and to do volunteer work for them. Thats how I pay it forward and I ask that you take the chance to pay it forward to someone like myself that is in need.

Whoever you are just know that whatever you send out you recieve three fold. The universe has a way of blessing you for your generosity.

Please help with my student loan so I can get my PhD.

My name is Nick I'm 28 and I live in Wellington, New Zealand. At the moment I am working full time making minimum wage as a construction laborer and trying in vain to pay off my current student debt.
Once paid off I can get back to university and get my PhD in Ecology and Biodiversity. I hope to research environmental ecology, specifically looking at ways to control invasive species in foreign environments.

Please help with my student loan so I can get my PhD.

Dear reader,
I am currently in New Zealand and would very much like to get home to the UK but have no money to do so, I'm finding getting work very difficult and would just like some pennies for a plane ticket (about NZ$2000). Any help would be hugely appreciated and I will pay you back as soon as I start work in the UK again.
Thanks x

Family homeless after earthquake in Christchurch needs financial help.

Family homeless after earthquake in Christchurch,New Zealand needs financial help.
My family and I lost everything after recent earthquake in Christchurch.People have the best of intentions they really want to do something practical to help Christchurch but we know from past experience that collecting up second hand goods only causes problems and it doesn't get to the people who are in need of help. There is nowhere to store these items in Christchurch, there is no way of checking where the bedding, clothes and what have you have come from and usually it all ends up being dumped, which is a terrible waste.
The best way to help at the moment is to give money, so please help us with any amount of money no matter how small, 1$ or 2$ is welcome, small and ordinary people with good souls do great things. It’s hard enough to have lost everything we've built up together our whole married lives and also things we've had since we were kids but our 3 children things seem to strike the hardest. The Lord was watching over us that day. We are trying to get back on our feet, but in this uncertain economy its proving more difficult everyday. We have been big givers and enjoy to give. Now we are in a serious time of need and thank you for any donations or love offerings you may want to give. Thank you again and God bless you may send donations to pay pal God bless you and your families as your kindness!

Can you please help a bit?

I am 19, i live in Tauranga, New Zealand.

I was a student until a few weeks ago, then i had to go on the Unemployment Benefit, which has a mandatory 1 week stand-down (in which i couldn't pay my board),only to find out that i am only getting $129 per week, which 100 of is my board. My TV has just blown up, i still have $100 to pay to the dentist for two fillings, and i have no money to get anywhere to apply for or interview for jobs. I have only 30 per week to get shopping for both me AND my boyfriend, who is currently unemployed.

I am not asking for much from anyone...just a few dollars here and there...anything will help me, and i would very much appreciate the help.

Thank-you

Ending on a High note - Tour - A-ha UK

okay, this isn't, my kids are hungry, or i am suicidal or anything like that. Poor circumstances, of living in the wrong country.. maybe??? I am a single mum of 4. living in NZ. My favorite pop group is A-ha. World tours have never ever made it to New Zealand. closest it came to was Australia. I was in High School, and it was out of price range. they have done a world tour again, and it didn't make it even to Australia. mostly the UK and europe. the thing is they are breaking up. I would love to go there.
a Big fan, and i have never seen 1 show of theirs. Only with paying bills, and feeding the kids, i will never have the money to get there, and im guessing i'll miss out again. If i don't go, its just one of them things. i know it is. Im not after a hard time from anyone reading this. and i expect im gonna be given hell for this somewhat stupid request.
they start now, through to December. im trying the lottery also, but i really hate my chances on that too.
