When I purchased this home back in 2004 after finally getting away from an extremely abusive marriage, all I could see was that the price was right and that I would finally be safe - hundreds of miles away from my now ex-husband. As a single mother of 3 children on a limited income, I saw how I would be able to live completely mortgage and rent free. I didn't however see the major repairs that this house required - nor did I have the money to make such repairs. Over time, of course things got worse - and it brings me up to the point of where I am today.

The roof on this house is so badly deteriorated that it is leaking very badly in the downstairs bathroom, dining room, kitchen and front door areas. It has leaked so badly that now mold has started to form in the bathroom ceiling and the drywall has slowly been falling away on the one wall. The slightest wind and you will find shingles blown off and laying on the ground. The roof is so bad that I am fearful that even the boards underneath the shingles may need to be replaced.

Realize that this is my last resort in trying to come up with the funds required to get this new roof. I have tried applying to government grants for home improvement but unfortunately I do not qualify because 1. my property taxes are not paid up to date (I owe approximately $2000 just in property taxes), and 2. the size of the house is larger than the specified guideline parameters. Nor do I qualify for a loan of any sort as 1. I make a mere $200 a month working and 2. have bad past credit (being a single mom has taken some serious tolls on me - including financially!).

So the goal here is to get a new roof installed - and as soon as possible so that any further damage to the house is avoided. I also worry about the mold forming in the bathroom especially and one day the roof caving in in there. While my children have grown to teenagers now, I still have to worry about their health.

I have uploaded pictures and this story at Chip-In to show you the extent of the damage done especially in the bathroom area - and a view of the shingles as they are right now on the roof. Admittedly I realize that my house also needs some repair on the stucco, windows and such but right now my main concern is the roof. I'm surprised it hasn't caved in on me by now.

I thank everyone in advance for helping me with this. I do not normally like asking for help from anyone but at this point I am finding that I have no other alternative.

Hello, I am a young white female who is struggling. I don't like begging for money, but I have no where else to turn. My family can only help me out with so much, but they are struggling too. I need $300 for my rent. I have been struggling to get my associates degree, and I am just six months away from accomplishing my dream; however, I take courses online, and without a home, I have no internet, and I can not finish my dream of completing college. I am going to ask the department of social services for rental assistance, but I have to wait. They can not help me in the next week. In one week I will be evicted. Is there anyone who could be so kind hearted as to help me? If you need proof or verification that I am not lying, I can provide that. I don't have any children, but I do have two cats. This may sound silly, but I fear for them as well. I don't want them to wind up in shelter where they will be killed. I work two jobs, but I only earn commission. With the way things have been financially for society, I am now making a third of what I used too. A lot of people are struggling right now. My family always says that I have to stand on my own two feet. This I have done for many years, but what happens when your financial planning begins to fail you? I am experiencing this outcome already, but I fear the worst is yet to come. I have a plan on starting another job. If I could just get $300 dollars, I would be set for the next month and I can continue with school and proceed with my plan. I believe that even in this economy, I can succeed. I just need a little help getting there.

Hi,I'm female and work full time but with the cost of living going up and wages staying the same I am now struggling to make ends meet. I have a loan and an over draft which I need to pay off plus the usual monthly bills. I got the date wrong for one of my bills and didn't have the money in the bank to pay for it at the time and ended up with bank charges which keep snowballing which is making it almost impossible to get from one month to the next. If I could get my over draft cleared (£500) it would not only give me more money every month it would help me sleep better and stop me waking up dreading the day ahead. I also need to see the dentist as 3 of my teeth have broken but can't afford to go and the longer I wait the worse my teeth are getting. I also need work done to the house to stop it falling apart, if I could get on top of the loan, bills and overdraft I could spend money on the house to make it water and wind proof. Thank you, I will not get my self in this position again if I ever get out that is.

I truly understand why people wind up doing crazy and stupid stuff. The pressures of society and the inpending doom we face in the financial world is hard enough, but to deal with your own problems then have everyone else complain about how the didn't buy the new iPad because they already have 2 is just annoying to say the least. I am not even sure people come to these sites and actually do anything but make fun of the people that are hurting, losing everything and everyone. No can you see why death seems so much more easy to cope with. People grieve for short period and move on with their lives, and the person who is dead, doesn't have to deal anymore. Honestly, I am in need of $3500 as soon as I can find it or foreclosure will become of me and family. At least the last option will give them money from insurance. So, if you actually read this and are one of the VERY FEW PEOPLE that care, a buck to spare is all I need to get started.

This is the first time I have ever begged for money so I don't even know how to beg for it! Here we go, I am a college student, I tried fafsa they gave nothing supposedly my mother earned enough she is a mother of 4 and currently unemployed, doctor said she can't work anymore but the social security keeps rejecting her application. A single mother who is very ill had one surgery back in March and a heart catheterization because of a blocked artery this past November 4th. She has another surgery coming up
first week of December due to a paralyzed vocal cord. Obviously, there is no money at all. I enrolled in a payment plan at my school. I was working during the summer but ended up laid off from work like many. My earnings went to helping my mother with my brothers’ expenses. I managed to pay my first two payments at school but today was the deadline for the second to last payment. The previous one was only 2 weeks ago (I don’t know how the school expects for you to wind up with a chunk of money in two weeks). I ended up paying back in October 26 $311.75 for the tuition payment. Also, 412.50 for my rent and utilities on the side about 100. I was freaking out after that since I ended up with $5. I got on craigslist listed my belongings but only managed to sell one pair of diamond earrings. The pawnshop wouldn't even want to sell my other diamond white gold earrings!

In the end, I went this morning at 9am (est) and paid $60. I have a hold now on my account for not paying the full amount, which means I won't be able to register for classes on spring if I don't come up with $563.50 plus a late fee by December 9. Please help!!!!!!! My main concern is my college payment. I really need it and I tried loans but I don’t qualify and I am constantly applying for jobs still nothing there yet.

He took everthing, my check, my pride, and self esteem. The only thing left are the bills. I am 54 years old and receive a disability check but it is gone with the wind. I have rheumatoid arthritis and hepatitis C and am unable to work. I was suppose to start a clinical trial for a new hep C treatment but now don't even have the gas money to go, not that I could drive my car, the tag expired in October and I can't even purchase that. Please don't let me sink, throw me a life preserver. I don't have any family to help me. My rent alone is half my check and I have always been able to get by until now. I have never asked for help because I knew that God would take care of me. He is now because he led me to this site. Thank you in advance!

Hello, My name is Sandy. I live in Kansas. I am needing help to get a new roof on my storage building. We had high wind and a big branch broke off a tree and went through the roof of my building. please i am in need of a roof on my house my family cant go on much longer the ceiling is caving in i'm behind on some already tough to manage bills. i have tried getting a new mortgage on my home to pay for a roof but my credit isn't fair enough right now. i have lost my job and have no benefits,i am trying to start my own business but am having a hard time raising capitol.just need a little help and i can make it from there.at the same time as soon as things get going i will need to hire 2 to 3 individuals therefore helping others so they don't wind up where i am. thank you in advance for whatever help you can give......

This is just not where I wanted to wind up, but I am going to plead my case. I am a single mom with a young son. I lost my job over two years ago, and six months after became disabled with an incurrable autoimmune disease. Well, wound up with on a state insurance, that quickly stopped my medical coverage saying my unemployment check was too high. I then wound up receiving disability payments and unemployment stopped. Ok, that is fine. I wound up in the hospital and unable to pay the hospital bills, they repo'd my car and took away any extra help I was receiving to get by. I have searched for work day and night, no one seems to give me a go. My son needs clothes, food and I need help to pay rent, pse&g, and try to lead a normal life. My disability pays 1/3 of my bills, and then it snowballs into many late payments.....my coping mechanisms are running out. I don't know if there is anyone that can help, but I want to work.....I want to work.....and I want to be able to pay my bills, and take a train to visit my mother who is in an assisted living with alzheimer's before it is too late. If you can help with anything.....I would be most appreciative.

Ok about 2 or 3 months ago my moms house caught fire on the west end.She is 75 yrs. old on oxygen can barely get around, and still got of the house unharmed THANK GOD. We couldn't put ensurance cause no money. A month goes by and the holes on the roof are so bad its got to be repaired to. We finally scrap up enough money to get these people to do. We give the money so they go buy the material and start taking the roof off, then we never see them again and as luck would have it he came in the middle of the night and took back what they had bought. I am a single mom of two, trying to make ends meet. Lost my job in November,no unemployment at this time. A severe wind blew the ice shield off of my roof and exposed a large portion to the elements.I live in Northern Nh and do not have the funds to pay my bills never mind getting the roof fixed. Let me start by saying thank you for even visiting a site like this and taking the time to read my post. I wish things were different in my life and I did not have to resort to asking strangers for help… But I don’t know what else to do. I’m not asking for a total resolution to all my financial problems… we all have them… I’m just asking for what might be a little to someone but would make a HUGE difference in mine and my daughter’s life. I am a single Father of a beautiful 7 year old little girl who means that absolute world to me. Unfortunately things did not work out between me and her mother. I am a very responsible Father and I have been a VERY big part of her life since day 1. My daughter is with me EVERY SINGLE weekend and I LOVE spending as much time as possible with her. She is my little sidekick, my mini-me, we are 2 peas in a pod, frick & frack. If I knew being “Daddy” was going to be this much fun, I would have started when I was 18 and had several children. I still one day would like to have more, but it does not look like life is going to allow that to happen. I also have NEVER been called a dead-beat dad, never missed a child-support payment, and I provide my daughter’s medical insurance. This is where my problem starts. I have been working full–time since I was 11 years old and now I am 37. I worked at what I thought was going to be the job I retire from. I had medical coverage for myself and my daughter that, although it was still costing me and arm and a leg, it was still affordable. For the first 5 years of my daughter’s life, I was able to provide decent-to-good medical insurance through the company. My daughter’s pediatrician was the same pediatrician her mom, aunt and 2 uncles all went to so she has been very familiar with the entire family history. This is something that I find to be very important for my daughter’s health. My daughter has asthma and several allergies. She takes 2 different inhalers daily (Flovent & Xopenex). Her condition has always been under very good control due to her pediatrician recognizing things early on and issuing the proper treatments. Everything has been fine up until the economy went south about 2 years ago. The company I worked for started doing lay-offs. I took that as a sign that I better do whatever I can to make sure I am not one of the people being laid off because I had my daughter to take care of and provide for. I worked nearly 10-12 hours a day Monday through Friday for a little over a year. With 2 of the bosses that were above me being laid off right away, I went into work every single day doing whatever I could to help the company survive and become stronger all around to help prevent as many lay-offs as possible. It got to the point that the company did have to file for bankruptcy protection- chapter 11. Even then, I worked even harder. Eventually things began to turn around and my hard work and dedication I believed was going to pay off. I was happy until the new owner who purchased the company out of bankruptcy came into town. Even with my hard work and dedication and me being a HUGE part of the company’s survival, I was told I was going to be laid off. I was being replaced because the new owner already had someone for my position without even meeting me. I was not the only one, there were several of us that were replaced with the owner’s new staff. The only decent thing the new owner did do was give us all a 3 week notice. Fortunately enough, I went immediately to a competing company and they hired me. It was for roughly $7,000/year less and they offered medical insurance, but a much lower plan with a different insurance company. Again, my only concern was providing for my daughter, not myself. I took the job because it still pays much more than unemployment would have and if I were to collect unemployment, I couldn’t take care of my daughter with medical insurance like she needs. During this same time, my daughter’s mom was able to get employment. Due to the waiting period at my new employer before I could get medical insurance, I agreed to have my daughter put on her mother’s insurance plan and I would simply reimburse her. It started out being $350/month to have my daughter added to her plan which would keep her at her pediatrician and there would be no lapse in coverage for her…but within 3 months, it went up to $404/month. That is the rate it has been at for the last year. It has gotten to the point where between child support and medical insurance, and not to mention a student loan I think I’ll be paying off for the rest of my life, I’m left with roughly $300 every 2 weeks. Out of this $300, I need to provide food for myself, gas for the car to get to work every day and to pick up my daughter every weekend, who lives 1 hour away now because I no longer could afford my apartment and moved back home with my 72 year old step-father and my 68 year-old disable mother who has muscular dystrophy. I have attempted to talk with my daughter’s mother about putting my daughter now on my insurance plan which is $130/month less and MUCH less coverage, but, if we were to do that, my daughter would have to change pediatrician because the doctor does not participate in the insurance my employer offers, plus it is a much lower plan and my daughter’s 2 inhalers are not covered under my very low prescription plan. Over a course of a year, I would wind up paying even more. This is where your GREATLY APPRECIATED donation would come in and be put to use. Again, I’m not looking to be bailed out of all my financial woes, I want to be able to continue to take care of my beautiful daughter the way I have been her whole life and the way she deserves. Every day I’m still trying to figure out a way to get through this, in fact, this is how I even found this website. I hope that something will turn out in my favor. This is also not my only attempt to get through this. I try to stay positive and I have been applying to many different jobs in hope that I can find a job that would pay more than my current rate or pay for medical insurance + child that participates with my daughter’s pediatrician at an affordable cost. If you can find it in your heart to help a good, genuine, honest, very loving Father with a little temporary relief until something works out whether it be a new job, or hopefully a raise in a few month… please make a donation.
