Some moths ago, I came home from a normal day at work, happy to see my two little boys (Josh 3 and Liam 4 months) and what I used to consider my better half. I walked in to find the house empty - no note, no indication of what had happened. I toyed around with calling the police, but it was clear this wasn't a missing persons case, or a robbery or anything else other than what it was. Everything was gone. Phone disconnected, bank accounts cleared out, credit cards closed. Suddenly it was me, the house and the car and nothing else. After a few days of searching, talking to family, friends and yes even filing a police report - not they cared much - I discovered I had been dumped for a guy my wife had been seeing for months. We has only just signed the lease less than a month before, and I thought we were really happy together. There were no signs - nothing that I saw at least. This really isn't the part that hurts, I can live with all this; it's her life and her decision. What really hurts is not seeing my boys.

During the first few days I didn't work, too busy trying to piece together what had gone on and why and how it had come to this right under my nose. The rent still needed to be paid, even though the house was unfurnished and too big for me alone. I was (and still am) locked into the lease! Problem number one.

Problem number two is rather more complex. Last Friday I received two letters. The first from a solicitor (our version of what you would call a lawyer) informing me of divorce proceedings and the second was sent a letter from the Child Support Agency informing me my wife is seeking child support payments from me. Now, I'm no deadbeat dad! I think all parents should pay for their children's needs but here I am - rent on a house I don't need, no furniture (some friends have lent me a TV and cooking utensils and a couch), no money to contest the proceedings and on top of that she wants me to pay child support while she's shacked up and living a 'normal' life with my boys, whom I haven't seen since.

I've seen a solicitor who advised me he wouldn't bill me for the first meeting - we talked about the situation, and what he could do from here... It requires more than I have, to achieve what I want and what I think is fair! All I want to do is split our assets 60/40 her favour (she has the kids). Get out of this lease that I'm legally locked into, and get shared custody of my beautiful little boys. Problem is she has the assets and without a court order to either return a portion to me or divest herself of some of the assets so I can be compensated, I can't pay a solicitor and barrister to get the money to do all this. Once it's all settled I'll happily pay my child support requirements, see my boys and leave her out of my life, seeing that's what she wants.

My solicitor has told me I could be up for as much as $10,000, but $6000 should be a good starting point. His firm wont proceed without knowing they'll be paid - fair enough, but what's a man to do in this situation?

I am literally begging for $6000. I haven't wanted for anything in my life - I've always worked and worked hard for what I had, but when it's all taken away from you, you realise how vulnerable we all are. I'm pledging that whatever I receive from this site that's not used in the case, I will pay forward, to another needy soul from this site. Please help... My heart and thanks, and that of my boys will go out to you.

Update: 6th Jan 2012. I've managed to get the proceedings heard at a later date, due to my personal situation. But nothing has changed. I still don't have the funds to fight this and to date not one response to my plea for help. I'm begging - literally for some assistance. I haven't seen my boys since December and I can't fight this without your help.

I have nothing to fight her with. No funds, no will and no motivation. The house has been re-leased and the owner has started legal proceedings against me, I have nothing but what she left me. I am trying my hardest to provide some money for my two kids - that I haven't seen since December. I can't go on like this. No-one can!

I hate needing to do this, but I need help. I'm looking everyday for a job, while my 9 year old is in school. I take my 4 year old with me because I can't afford a sitter. We walk because I don't have gas money (it'll be repossessed soon, anyway).
I got my eviction notice yesterday. My cable, internet, and phone are all shut off. Electricity will be any day, now. I'm broke and struggling. I don't know what to do, but I'm trying. Please...if you can help.

I am a father of two young boys. we already are living without water and we have no food beyond this week. we walk across street to use restroom at a family members house, this is gracious enough as we have fallen on hard times and so have they. we, together, try our best to help each other but i have been without meaningful work since being laid off from a steel mill. i was a hard worker and went in sick or well to make sure my family had their needs met, when i lost my job it was devastating. i am 26 no degrees, some college level courses completed and have had only two jobs since i was 18. i have little to no work experience outside of the heavy industries which have fallen off sue to the slow economy. this makes me under qualified for most good paying jobs as i cannot work for min. wage and support my children along with my home. this has destroyed my six year marriage and left me penniless and sometimes homeless as my ex wife retains the home. she works near full time but only makes 9 dollars and hour driving bus for osu, not enough income to cover all the expenses without my help. i have moved back home to try to make amends to find that within 10 days we are to be removed from the house if i do not have $1,500.00 for non-payment of the mortgage. please if someone can help us as i am desperately looking for gainful employment, i want to work and am a good hearted christian man. if only a few kinds words to sway an employer to give me a chance, anything would be appreciated.

This situation has become a nightmare! I am 65 retired and slightly disabled due to a auto accident over a year ago. I have a hard time walking and this has me house bound most of the time. My wife is recovering from a stroke and taking care of her needs is a full time job. We barely exist on a meager social security income and several months ago I was forced to take out a payday loan just to keep the lights on. We maxed out our small credit card just to buy food and gas for our car and now every month we pay off the loan plus finance charges and then we have to take the loan out again the next day or else we cant pay our bills and buy food. With the credit card used up we have no where to turn for help. I know there are many who need help more than us, but if some kind person could lend a helping hand we will be able to pass the favor on to someone else in turn.

in a couple of weeks i will be homeless. after becoming unemployed two years ago i was living off money which i had from cashing in my retirement account. after taking a couple of months for leisure ( i hadn't had an actual vacation, aside from a long weekend here or there, for the past 12 years) i was in the beginning phase of starting a small business. then i had a heart attack. i had surgery to place a stent in one of my arteries. it seems that i was born with a twisted artery and had been living with it all my life suffering no ill effects. according to my doctor artery walls are fairly thin and pliable when one is young, but as a person ages the walls thicken and become less pliant. when you combine these two factors with the twist of the artery, the result is a cutoff of the flow of blood to the heart. my doctor said that had i waited another day to come into the hospital, i would have died. while the surgery left me weak, it was the anti-rejection medication that i was on which was the problem. it left me so tired and weak, that after a walk to and from the local bodega just two blocks from my apartment , after i walked in the door i had to lay the bags down and sit and rest for a half hour or more, before i could put groceries away or even thinking about standing up and preparing food. quite a change from when i was biking 5 miles a day/ five days a week and lifting weights several times a week. my bank account was swiftly drained due to the cost of the hospital stay/surgery, and to the cost of medications ($130/month).
once i was off the anti-rejection meds and feeling well enough to work, i began searching for a job seeing as my hope of starting a business drained away with the money in my bank account. but unfortunately, with the economy the way it is, i have been unsuccessful in my search. i am now virtually penniless and am being evicted from my apartment. i am have sold off what few possessions i have in order to have some cash to buy the things i need for living on the streets, but the accumulated amount came to less than $100.

Full time college student, with a two year old son, needs transportation to get back and forth from school and daycare. I'm out of options and running out of time. I won't get any finances till September. We already have food assistance and medicaid. I just cannot keep going out walking cold mornings and coming back hot afternoons. I know it is not fair to him, but I am doing the best I can to secure a future. I continually look for work from beyond sun up to sun down. Training at work going well but need a car for further training and husband's health is getting worse every day. Sugar is staying over 660 and blood pressure is rising without that medication also. Now is at 220/190. Don't know what I am going to do. Had to walk to store 3 times the other day to get groceries and, in Florida, it is getting hotter all of the time. Not to mention the rain now too. I really hate to ask anyone for help or "beg" but I really,really need help getting a car.

I am at the point of almost giving up. I admit that over the years I have always made sure every one had what they wanted and didn't look at priorities but I always paid my bills. I recently resigned from a great paying job so that I could be home with my family and help my kids out with babysitting. I admit that again I wasn't looking at priorities but again I am watching out for family. I have recently picked up 2 part time jobs and am also beginning to clean houses. I am in need of help right now so that I can help with a wedding and a new baby and also to help my brother keep his home. I know I have a bad credit score but I ALWAYS pay off what I owe just may be later than it should be causing a bad score but always pay it off. Because of this I can't get a personal loan. I do not have children, so I am ineligible for cash assistance through local government. I do not have short-term disability through my employer. I am ineligible for short-term disability through the government because my condition does not require that I am off work for 12 months, nor will it result in my death. I am also not being allowed to withdraw from my retirement for hardship reasons because, according to them, I am -only- contributing the mandatory amount. I also do not have -perfect credit- so I am unable to go out and obtain a loan for what I need. I have tried so many avenues and have hit dead ends each time. My goal is to raise $2500 to cover rent and expenses for up to three months: 2 months of actual recovery time and an additional months worth for incidentals and to give me time to return to work and have regular paychecks come in. Kind of at a lost on what to say, but here it goes. I'm a 27 year old single mom who works with special need kids in a school, I have been diagnosed with PCOS, Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Interstitial Cystitis. A few months ago I started having trouble breathing, went to the dr and was told I was too young to have a problem. Well they did a chest x-ray and found spots in my lungs.Currently they're trying to figure out what's wrong before I get worse. I can't walk without gasping for breath, due to this my daughter stays with dad and I can't work. I'm about to lose my house, I have nowhere to go and need this house to live. Please help

Came down with Plantar fasciitis 1 yr and half ago could barely walk... Doing better now, still can't stand up for a long period of time. Started doing flea markets to help pay my bills but never seem to be able to get enough items to pay all my monthly bills.. Just need a few hundred more dollars to put into products, to get the wheels turning better. Hope your help a small business minded person who still believe's in the american dream.

My name is Donna and my husband,Tom,is a disabled diabetic. He has been diabetic for 20 years and for the past 7 years, he has been totally unable to walk. He gets SSI but it is not much. I ork but only for minimum wage. Our car stopped running on Feb. 14 and we do not have the extra finances or credit to be able to buy another one. As a result, he has not been to a doctor since to get refills on his medicines or insulin needles. He is getting sicker every day. I would like to get out and look for a better job but can't do that either. I have to push him in the road if he wants to go anywhere otherwise, I walk to the grocery store to buy food. We are behind in all of our bills but only a little bit. We just need someone would could help us with a car and a little to pay up our bills. This has been really hard on my husband. He feels depressed and useless because there is nothing he can do to help and is basically stuck in the apartment. Without his medicine, it gets worse every day. His blood sugar has been staying over 600 and I have no way to get it back down to an acceptable level. It is causing havoc with the rest of his body also. We desperately need a car to get him help. We have 3 grown sons but two are barely making it themselves and the third is in the National Guard and going through a divorce so he is unable to help also. I am selling everything I have, I moved to a different part of the country to find a job. But the wages haven't covered the bills and rent. I walk to work everyday, I try hard in my job, I am a nurse, and work with the elderly which is very rewarding. I cry myself to sleep every night hoping for a miracle. I need to cover $8,000. I've always done well in my life I guess, I have always given to charity, and I've always helped others when they've needed money and so forth, I truly believe there is no better satisfaction then being able to help someone through a tough time when they're in need. In fact there was a time last year when I was walking past a homeless man in the street, it was bitterly cold, I bought him lunch so he wouldn't go hungry for a day, just so he could have that few hours of not going hungry, I felt great in being able to genuinely help someone, especially a stranger.

My situation, I suffer from severe depression and an anxiety disorder, which has seen my mental health decline over the past year, I was forced to leave my job and have suffered a mental breakdown which saw me hospitalized for a few days earlier this year, I took an overdose of anti depressants and was seriously ill, I regret it, but we all have a period in our lives where things can get to tough. I've lived off what's left of my wages which has now ran out.

I have ran out of money, I know it takes a lot for someone to extend a hand of kindness in giving just a small amount, but I will be truly grateful to anyone who can extend a helping hand and donate a small bit of money to help me right now.

I can not afford to eat, and I can not afford to pay for my medical prescriptions which sees me not being able to take my medications, which can have quite a serious implication on my recovery and current state of mind, I've just completed several forms to be able to claim state benefit, however I have to wait for at least 6 weeks before seeing anything.

I can not pay housekeeping, which was essential as my mum doesn't earn a lot of money, so she appreciated the help I could give, and now we may face loosing the house.

I have never asked for help before. I have worked all my life and am still working a full time job and looking for a second job. I got divorced last year and pretty much walked away from the home we owned together ( it was worth it) I now live in a small apt that is my sanctuary. I have to commute around 50 miles each way to work and buying gas and groceries in the same week is not possible. My story isn't any different than anyone elses. I don't have a sad sob story, I am just a regular person who is asking for a hand up not a hand out.Any spare money I have left after paying bills (not much and most times nothing) is going towards a plane ticket or gas money from Boston to Ft Jackson so I can watch my son graduate from boot camp in August)
I woud be willing to repay when I can and am more than willing to pay it forward. PLEASE no scams. Life is hard enough without them

I am a mother of an autistic son. I am in need of help with bills and car repairs. I am a private contractor for a local Medicaid Cab company. This is a self-employed position and there are expenses with it. I have 3 more years to pay on a loan for vehicle that is in need of an engine and possibly repairs on the axles. My income is determined by the fluctuation of clients needing to go to the doctor and the gas prices. Gas has hit $4.15 a gallon here and it takes a big chunk out of my income.
I have been married for almost 16 years to a wonderful guy. He lost his job with a company that makes car parts the last time the economy fell. This is a small town and the economy around us is based on the car business and it is still slow. Trying to find another job has been very hard on the whole family and my low income is making it a lot harder. Losing his job and not being able to provide for us has taken a hardship on my husband. He has become very depressed and with no health insurance we cannot get help. He has gained a lot of weight and now is unable to walk very far.
I am getting a little bit of help from the Government but they are telling me that they do not have a self-employed category. This means that they do not take the gas and repairs out of my income before they put it in so they are showing that I am making way more than I am.
I have asked several family members for help and they cannot help. I can only hope and pray for God to provide us with a miracle because we are a month behind on our rent. Catching up will be impossible. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I just got released from the hospital this week after having been there for a week. I also have a condition called pyoderma gangrenasum which causes debilitating ulcers on my legs. I went in to have a doc see my ulcer because it had gotten to the point where it was painful to walk. They took blood tests and found a slew of other things wrong. They found that I was Anemic, low Vitamin D right off the bat. Upon further tests including colonoscopy, CT scan, Enema and more they found a blockage and a small hole in my colon so I was admitting and pumped with medication. I started feeling better and after a week they finally let me go home. I am still on multiple medications and am struggling with getting things back to normal. My Crohn's disease has made my life a living hell at times. Some days I can't eat without pain, I suffer from arthritis like symptoms that make it painful to walk, it wakes me up at night so I have difficulty sleeping and now on top of that I have become moody and depressed. I am unable to work and have no income. I am in the process of retrying to get disability after being denied because I am only in my 30s and they think I can still work. Stress makes my condition worse and I cant help but be stressed every day. I get very little relief. I have a wonderful fiance who has been struggling to pay for all of our living expenses on his own and it is making his life dramatically harder as well. I need help. I am asking for your grace and kindness right now. It is increasingly difficult to be able to afford just daily items such as soap and shampoo, not to mention medications because I am unable to afford insurance. Please if there is any amount you can give, it would be wholeheartedly appreciated. I am in dire straights right now.. Thank you for taking the time out to read this..

I am a single mother who is struggling. My car has broken down on me and I need some cash to help get it running as needed.
