Fatherly Dreams For My Little Heart Patient As We Lose Our Home

Posted by GregHasHope on 2012-05-24 03:58:19

My daughter had heart surgery last year and I want to treat her to a sport that will teach her competitiveness, help her self esteem, allow her to have fun, and exercise her heart. Her surgery happened while I was in school and was very sick myself with Crohns disease a year ago. We were so bad off, I had to borrow money for gas to get her to the hospital. It was quite a humbling and intensely challenging past 2 years for her and I. Her surgery was successful. I have finished school and will be starting my new Job as an EMT June 11! I am also currently in new recruit training for a volunteer firefighter/ EMT position which will give me valuable experience for a paid position some day. It will also give me the opportunity to serve others. I personally love to help others and have done a LOT in the past when I could. I doubt this will be seen, but, A dad can have his dreams.

I am losing my home and have had my gas cut off. I was too ill to work for over a year. Quite honestly, I am losing it all. We have each other (My daughter and I) and improving health. During the process of losing her home, I want to have her my daughter pre-occupied with good thoughts. I want her to see that life will go on. She loves playing tennis, but I am financially unable at the time to help her pursue the sport. I would like to do it with her to build the father daughter bond and help myself get in shape to volunteer for my fire department.

Below is a link to a wish list of items we need. Were not asking for exacts. It's just what we picked out that we saw online. http://amzn.com/w/W4M5DEBQ0C1N . We would appreciate any help. Prayers are welcome as well!
This is my story from THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE to now May 23 2012.
I am 26 and live on a little island off the uk . when I was 19 I got a loan out to buy a car, the car cost was about £22,000 thats about ($34,546.6) this was the worst diction of my life about 6 months after buying the car, I found myself out of work and unable to pay back the payment, so the loan company that had been charging me for not paying back my debt had now with the charges taken the debt from £20,000 upto about £25,000 ($39,290) then took my car and auctioned it off for £5,000 about ($7,855) this took my debt down to £20,000 . At this point I realized the massive mistake I had made but noticing this didn't change the fact I was in debt and didn't know who I was going to get out. So I did the best I could and to worked and paid off what I could . I have now got my debt down to about £10,000 that is ($15,705) meaning in the last 7 years I have paid £17,000 ($26,710.4) for a car I don't have. I was getting paid about £11,500 ($18051.55) a year and living off about £9,000 a year for food rent/bills and anything else, the thing is i have just lost my job again because of cut backs and there is no work here at the moment so any help would be amazing. See when I was 19 I wanted to go to the USA and do a ski season or some seasonal work but now I want to do some volunteer work but with this debt I am stuck here . The worst part of this all to me is that when I think at I could be £17,000 ($26,710.4) richer had I not brought that car and could be living my dreams and helping other people instead I am stuck in a hole needing the help. If anybody does help me I will be very greatful and will be happy to return the favour in some way .

Thanks again

Posted by maryka on 2012-05-20 23:58:45

Hello,

I have been hesitant to write this post but I am really desperate. I am a psychology pre-med student with a 3.9 GPA in my final year of college. I also volunteer at a local hospital 20 hrs a week and at a counselling center. I work as a tutor and have been able to raise money for one semester, however I simply cant afford my last semester which is 2500. I would love to work more hours but i am an international student, therefore I can only work 20 hours a week.

I am begging anyone willing to help me, to help in anyway. I ahve come so close and worked so hard, I cant imagine quiting at this point.

Hello...I desperately need your help. My fiance and I have been together for the last five years. Three years ago he was working as a volunteer coach for a soccer team and the school he used to teach at. One day in soccer practice he jumped for a ball, lost his footing, and fell on his neck. He fractured a vertebrae which left him in excruciating pain. To make matters worse, as the bone healed it left a bone spur at the base of his head that pushes on the nerve bundle next to his brain stem. Gradually, as the spur grew bigger it made him paralyzed from the neck down. We have obviously put our wedding on hold to deal with this unfortunate fate. I work three jobs just to make the minimum payments on his medical bills and I take care of him whenever I am not working.
Because of the proximity of the bone spur to his brain stem, no doctor in the U.S. will touch it to operate on it. However, we have consulted with a doctor in Germany that practices surgery like this every day. He says with the surgery my fiance would be able to regain the use of most of his body with a lot of intensive physical therapy. But...the surgery costs right around $25,000 which might as well be 25 million. I spend every penny I make just barely scraping by. I know this surgery would give him back his freedom and his ability to live the way he always dreamed. Please help us...every little bit counts. I appreciate anything you can do.

Like many people I was hit hard when the economy tanked. Unfortunately I didn't have any savings and fell further and further behind in debt by charging food, gas and even taking cash advances to pay my mortgage. Not to mention all the late payments, fees and charges. I have been working VERY hard at getting back on track. I don't buy new clothes. I don't go out. I have sold stuff online. I have even given money and donations to charity knowing that when you give you also receive. I work 3-4 jobs depending on the season, and have started to make more money at my primary job.

In the past 3 years I have learned to live on cash only AND I have paid off $47,714.81 in credit card debt. I have less than $20,000 to go! But the $1700 a month I have to pay to the consolidation company is draining. I would love to have my life back and, in turn, would like to be able to help others. Right now I volunteer at a homeless shelter and with a church group that helps those in need...but I would like to be able to make a financial contribution as well.

I know there are many people in worse shape than I am. But I hope that a few people can each donate a few dollars to help me get completely out from under this burden.

I'm a single mother aged 35. I've lived in California for almost 14 years ( it will be 15 this year on memorial day weekend.)
I’m going to be a little blunt, because I'm tired and I want to give up so bad, but I can't. I'm better than that and my kids are my motivator. I wake up everyday and remind myself of 2 things :1) Faith is what you have when you all your beliefs are blown to hell. 2) What doesn't kill you makes you stronger -Nietzsche

I am a 35 year old educated, ambitious, head strong woman. I have owned my own business with my soon to be ex. I know what hard work and determination are. I went to private school and I am educated. I value my community and have always given back and will continue to do so. I also know that I have the drive and determination to get myself back on track. I'm not ASKING for a handout, I'm asking for help up! I also know what loss is. I don't have the business, a house or EVEN the car anymore. We lost everything. He bounced back , I didn’t. All I have is HOPE, that someone or some program can help me carve a path back to self sufficiency.
It's gone continually downhill.I am amazed at the allotment of programs for both housing and employment for all different walks of life. However, what about those that are just struggling. No hang ups, no record, just struggling and are LOW INCOME. I'm not writing this to make you feel sorry, I'm writing this because I have exhausted possibilities that I have researched both on my own or been given the information to do the work with.
There are people who struggle everyday through no fault of their own. They don't want a hand out, but help up would be a relief. Society doesn't need band-aids they need solutions.
Not every county, city or state program fits everyone's needs.
First of all Section 8 has been closed since BEFORE I left my marriage so that idea could never work. The list has been closed for years. Because I have limited time with my children, I do not qualify for CALWORKS. I have tried getting assistance in every way possible. I had very little unemployment left since I have been struggling to find work. I was delayed for about 3 months because they needed verification and I had to appeal and request a hearing. I have won my appeal but will only receive $91/week and for a short period of time.
I took a project management class through WIA in 2011, and I was able to get CTB benefits. I NEED HELP. I have hit the absolute worst point in my life and still refuse to give up. I have been looking for work and am now HOMELESS.I am in week 3 of staying in an extended stay hotel (paid for by my mother back east, who makes maybe $26,000/yr in PA) I recently sold my car because I needed to pay bills and rent. I have maybe $75 to my name.
The fact that they say there are services for low income/ homeless is frustrating. I say this because there is no category for me. I'm not a drug addict or in recovery. I don't have a mental illness. I wasn't in prison, I don’t' even have a RECORD. I can proudly say I've never been arrested or even in the back of a cop car. I'm not a victim of domestic violence and I do not beat my kids. Why aren't there programs in place for single parents struggling to make it? Everyday people that are responsible and respectable. I understand the need to assist those that may not have the capacity to take care of themselves. However, I have a huge problem with the fact that Santa Clara County & all programs (private, govt or state funded) will rehabilitate and reintroduced felons into the community, but if you're poor, homeless, no record, are looking for work, have high intelligence; sorry, you can't get help. This sounds extremely cynical and jaded, but I am a little after going through all I have.
I have been told constantly “I wish I could do something but we don't have any programs to help you.” My favorite reply is: "Yeah and you have done everything. I'm surprised you even knew about all the programs you did"
I have talked to employment counselors, program coordinators, program advocates and case managers, volunteers, just about anyone. The bankruptcy is hindering my chances of securing housing, even if I had employment.

The icing on the cake has to be with food stamps and General Assistance. I qualified for Cal-Fresh. However, at the time I had a car worth $2200. So I wasn't able to get General Assistance. Fast Forward a year later, I HAD to sell my car to pay bills. Now this month when I went for General Assistance, I qualify.

It's a never ending cycle, a constant push down. I can take public transportation to work, but to get around and see my boys and being able to transport them would be extremely difficult, not to mention financially stressing. I have scoured employment books, read articles, searched the library, spent hours online trying to find a job, program, a company, anybody who could be a resource whether for low income assistance or employment.
I can probably tell you about a plethora of services this county (Santa Clara) offers for both income assistance and job services.I am registered with CALJOBS; I know all the career sites and have my resume there. I get interviews, however I am starting to think the bankruptcy from loss of business is holding me back when employers do background check.
I also could teach the business writing class or the resume writing classes they offer at Work2Future, I practically did when I took them. I could do the same at Sacred Heart. I've been to InnVision and EHC. I’ve talked to Sunnyvale Community Services. Boy he was a treat he sounded older then my 80 yr old grandma. When I said I need housing and employment help, he gruffly told me to check the newspaper and hung up. I've called St Josephs in Gilroy. I've talked to a program coordinator at West Valley Community Services. I called the Sobrato Organization hoping they had ties to something and one the employees just by grace of god happened to pick up and take my call. I was able to talk to someone at HIF (they couldn't help)
.
I am responsible, respectable and just want to work, have a place to live, and be able to have my children 50/50. I have no police record. I am not in recovery, nor have I ever had to be in a program
I want to work and am attaching a compilation of ALL my work skills. I would not send this out otherwise, I would tailor it specifically to the job I am applying for.

I used to volunteer as much as I could I like being active in my community and helping others. I'm still about that I believe in PAY IT FORWARD. I believe the good you do comes back to you tenfold and that no matter what is going wrong in your life, someone else is struggling just as much if not more; so be thankful for what you have.
I attend church and was a hospitality volunteer for that as well.
I just need help getting on my feet. I have no family, other than my children here in CA.
I do not want to move back east and be far away from them. I want to work, I want to live again. I want to smile and mean it.

I hate what my life has become and know that I am SO MUCH BETTER THEN THIS.
Please help me : money is fine, but it's only a temporary fix, please help me find a program that can assist me in getting on my feet, direct me to employment, and most of all afford me the opportunity to have my children much more consistently so I can be a mom again.
Thank you
Courtney DiMiceli

My future depends on finishing this associates degree

Posted by Sikhindu on 2012-04-29 14:58:39

I saved up enough money for school but now it turns out I don't have money for living expenses. I get a work permit in November 2012, but by then I won't have any money for next year. The expenses for each of the two years is $17,000, and I saved up just for one year. I need help in making ends meet. I have been looking for work on campus and it's not working out since I was told to wait until August and September for cleaning jobs and restaurant jobs at the school. All the tutoring jobs I have applied for on campus have not materialized so far.

If I do not finish this school, it is over for me. I spent many years in the US in school since 2001, and it resulted in nothing because they didn't give me a work permit, and they did not allow me to stay.I got two bachelors degrees from there but since I did not have citizenship or a green card, I had to leave.

If I finish school here in Canada, I will get a three year work permit, and I can finally be useful to myself and my family. I need to pay back money that I owe my uncle for paying for my primary and secondary education back home in the third world. I need to educate, or at least pay for my niece and nephew who are orphaned to go to college. I need to take care of my sick mother, I have been unable to do that so far because I had to pay for my education in the US out of pocket.

I have other on going problems such as loss of sight in one eye but then that is something to be dealt with when I finally finish school, it is not as urgent as getting the money to pay for school. No matter how badly everything else is going, even with my mom being sick and my being unable to send her money for treatment, school comes first even though ideally it should not be that way.

I have been involved in community service for many years. I worked with DC Habitat for Humanity on a house construction project. I also worked with refugees from 2010 to 2011 before I had to leave the US, I was tutoring English through International Rescue Committee. I am currently working with the Food Bank where I am, and over summer since I will have no on campus jobs, I plan on getting more volunteer jobs so I can give back to the community. Canada has given me so much, a chance at self improvement, so it's only natural that I want to say thank you to this great country.

I am not scared of working, infact when I was in the US I worked full time while going to school full time. I do not want to violate the student visa here in Canada because Canada is a kind country for immigrants and they will definitely give me the work permit come November 2012, as long as I do not work illegally before then.

I am planning to move out of my homestay right now and rent with schoolmates in order to minimize my expenses. I do not usually even eat things like meat, milk, eggs, all of which I do not like or I am allergic to. So I do know how to save money. I learned to live on very little while in the US so I need money to pay for my education so that I can maintain my student visa.

Please help, my family cannot afford to pay for my education, I do not have citizenship from a developed country to qualify for financial aid or scholarships, the scholarships from back home are mostly for those doing masters degrees and PhDs, I'm doing an associates degree right now. They also insist that you must not have already left the country before they give you the scholarship. I will be applying for scholarships in the schoool, and also some bursary from my government which might be only $500, and that is only if I can get someone back home to bribe someone in the Ministry of Education to get that bursary.

I have tried all ways to improve my life for many years, and this time education truly will be a key to improving my life. I am not a stranger to subjecting myself to medical experiments in order to earn more money to pay for school. I need help this time around, this is my last try at improving my future. Going back home will be a disaster since I do not have tall relatives (people with influence) to get me jobs. What's the point of my adding myself to the millions who are dependent on others for help?

Any amount which can be sent to my Paypal account will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I am a former teacher and recovering addict. I have 18 years clean and sober. I lost my teaching position paying 24.62 an hour Oct.2010 and have been trying to catch up ever since. My father left me a house and I took out a mortgage in 2005. My payments went from 700 a month to 1700. I was skipping a month and paying 3400. It cost me my marriage and my peace of mind. It was embarrasing and overwhelming. I now make 10.055 an hour. I turned in one car (volunteer repo) and now drive an 04 minivan. My power steering pump went out and the driver window is inoperable. I pay my van payment and repo payment monthly.I also pay child support for my 11yr old. I keep her regularly every two weeks and sometimes have nothing but conversation for her. I get no tax return because her mother claims her. I am also a disabled vet. I am in a bind and I can't borrow from my bank. I just need a little help and a push. I don't give up because I can't.

Buried in Debt

Posted by Canna on 2012-04-26 10:58:40

*******Please take a moment to read this.******

I am surprised I am doing this but I am looking for some way to get ahead. My husband and I both work full time but we just can't seem to get past a wall that we've hit. Our debt started to accumulate as we were raising our children. My husband is actually stepfather to my two children and support payments from the bioligical father were far and few between. My children are young adults now and I will never see the $25K that is owed in back support. Ironically, we have about $20K in credit card debt. With credit cards maxed out, credit scores go down so trying other options such as consolidation loans have gone nowhere. We have tried earning extra money on Ebay but by the time they collect all their fees there's not much left for us. I have searched the internet for ways to earn extra income but find more scams than legitimate opportunities. Every month it seems to become more difficult. It's a juggling act just trying to keep up with everything.

I have always considered myself a generous person. I volunteer in the community and would love nothing more than to contribute more, especially financially. If we can get this debt under control, I would have the ability to "Pay it Forward".

Thank you for viewing my page!

I am looking to fund a Dog Grooming Course for myself.

I am a 29yr old girl from Surrey who loves animals and dreams of running her own furry business.

This course will cost £1,500 and will change my life forever. Please help me make this dream become a reality.

Once I have completed the course I am hoping to go on and open my very own Dog Groomers and volunteer at the local Animal Rescue centre.

Animals are what makes me happy and I am hoping to dedicate my life to working with them.

I have been searching for help, I did something I thought was a good deed and it turned out I was taken for granted and I fell into debt. I sent money I thought was to a charity in singapore for a childrens home. I couldn't believe that people could be so cruel. Now I am here with my electricity about to be turned off and heat. I am looking for help only to repay back. I have been paying out to many payments when I know I can do this with one payment a month. Is their any kind of help I can get. I have tried everything. I am married and we raise our granddaughter. I am a volunteer for my church and I do the best I can. I would give my last dime to someone if I knew they needed it more than me. Now it hurts me to say, I am the one that needs the help. I believe in myh heart no one likes to beg, but their are times when we have to put certain feelings aside to save my family.

Family Emergency

My family does volunteer work in another country with our own funds. We help families in needto live better.
I recently recieved a call that my brother is very ill with heart failure. Our mother died at 40 from a genetic heart disease. My brother is 41 and is in need of help . He is single and has no one and I need to fly out back to the states to help him. I dont need money just a plane ticket to get home since we live simple and make just enough to live.
If some one would be willing to just get a plane ticket for me to help my brother recover thats all I ask. The tickets average 250.00 to 360.00. I would provide the flight info This is legit.

Thank You So Much

I am trying to raise money in order to travel and work abroad. It is my dream to try being an English Language Assistant in Spain and France. I have a part-time job but it only offers 15 hours a week and that earns me £100 a week. It goes on my rent and a small amount of debt to clear. I hardly have anything left to save up for my travel dreams. I dream of teaching English in France, Spain and Latin America. But right now I can't even afford a plane ticket. I also want to volunteer in South America. I know there are people much worse off than me, but if you can spare anything to help, I would be forever grateful. I'm 30 and have been utterly lost and depressed in my career so far, and recently have found my purpose and passion - travel, writing, helping people. If you can donate anything at all, I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your kindness!

senior desperate for dental work

Posted by springbird on 2012-03-31 14:58:54

Do you appreciate a nice smile?
I'm a young Senior with two partial disabilities so I only work part-time. I am dying to do volunteer work with kids and the Deaf, and/or get more work.
The horrid condition of my smile has made it almost impossible for me to even show up in public.
I am very low income, without dental insurance, and need extractions on top, a bridge on top and 2 root canals and caps on the bottom. The dentist said we can save all of my remaining teeth if we act soon.

I can get the top done for $4,000 and that is my first goal.

God bless anyone who can help me with this. I will pass on the blessing tutoring kids!

Please help with a wheelchair ramp

Posted by Trapped_In on 2012-03-23 12:58:20

On March 27, 2011 (my mom's 73rd Birthday) she suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke (ruptured aneurysm) She had her 1st & 2nd brain surgey within the next few days and she spent 5 weeks in ICU then 6 weeks in Rehab. She made a great recovery.

In Sept 2011 she had another brain surgery to repair a second aneurysm which she also recovered well from. In December of 2011 she suffered another minor stroke.

this time she is not recovering very well. she is having a lot of difficulty walking and climbing the stairs. She is physically capable of taking the stairs, however she is absolutely terrified that she may fall and will not use the stairs.

I'm unable to get her out of the house to go to doctor appointments and to physical therapy. We can't even go out to eat (mom's favorite thing to do) Since she cannot safely climb the stairs anymore we need to build a wheelchair ramp or get a wheelchair stair-trac lift.

With me missing so much work do to moms situation and my own health conditions I've lost my job. Unemployment barely pays my bills and moms social security covers her bills we cannot afford to buy the lumber required to build a ramp.... I have volunteers to build a ramp but no building supplies :( If anyone could help us even with $5.00 it adds up.

I've desperately been searching the globe for any resources whatsoever to help build a ramp for our home. any organizations out there want to put a lien on the home and mom does not want that to happen.

Single mom needs help sending son to college

Posted by Depressedmom on 2012-03-16 19:58:07

I have a son is very talented. He had been accepted to a great recording arts program but I'm afraid I'm gonna crush him when I tell him I can't afford it. I work 26 days a month but still live paycheck to paycheck even though we don't waste money. My ex-husband was an alcoholic so I left with 6 suitcases and never looked back. I had to start over with nothing but I have worked hard and never accepted any type of government assistance. It has been a hard 8 years but I am now swallowing my pride and begging that someone would help me get my son to college. He has never been in trouble and every teacher he has ever had has always says he is polite and works hard. We come from a small rural town and he would be the first in my entire family to attend a university. He even volunteers for several charity events every year. He is so deserving of this chance to live his dream so please help. Thank you for any consideration. Even small donations add up.
