Need $15k Family Emergency must relocate to AZ ASAP
Posted by mjc102853 on 2012-05-14 14:58:40
Please help me I am in a really bad spot. In 2006 husband died..we owned an internet cafe. In 2007 I closed cafe & started looking for another IT job...no luck even for data entry or help desk (still looking but am told I don't have current skills & no money to get update/education). Tried to sell off all store stock & in 2009 Ebay/Craig's list sales became slim. Cashed in bonds/savings acts/401k/stocks to make ends meet. Eventually in 2010 no more corners to take from & part-time jobs just not meeting all obligations. Now son-in-law in AZ has health problems & daughter+2 grandaughters need help desperately. He had gall bladder removed a year ago & he is one of a few that cannot easily live without it...having really tough time with digestion & weight loss. No time to sell everything. WILL DONATE ALL NON-PERSONAL ITEMS TO CHARITY(s) OF YOUR CHOICE. ONLY WANT TO KEEP LIVING ROOM FURNITURE, 2 DRESSERS, CARD/TRAY TABLES & PERSONAL CLOTHES/KITCHEN/FAMILY ITEMS & COMPUTER. A family in turmoil.

I am the eldest daughter of two ill parents. I have 2 siblings who have been the caregivers to my parents for several years now. It all started when my father got ill in 2007 with a need of open heart surgery. After that surgery he was never the same. He was a very successful emergency room physician and made very good money. However, he was off for several months from work due to his recovery period. Much of his savings/investments were depleted as he was the only bread winner in the family. My brother and sister had just gotten an apartment and were to start college when my father got ill. They withdrew from school just as quickly as we moved them into their apartment in order to help my mother take care of dad. My father attempted to return to work, but he was still having chest pain and major depression. In September of 2008 he was in the hospital again and needed heart stents to open up blockages. After that situation he physically could not go back to work. He was weak, depressed, and very withdrawn from life. My mother, bless her heart, tried to find ways to make some cash. She sold many pieces of her jewelry to try and pay bills. Regardless of what she profited, she was unable to fulfill the mounting medical bills, credit card bills, car payments, insurance bills, etc.
It wasn't long before she became gravely ill. In the summer of 2010 my mother had succumbed to kidney failure and had to be on kidney dialysis permanently. She had neglected to take care of herself while trying to take care of my father and their financial woes. Along with the financial woes, there were back taxes that were still owed and of course were impossible to pay, their house was falling apart--still is. By the end of Spring 2011, my mother got so ill and was on a ventilator at least 4 times in a 2 week period due to her lungs filling up with fluid. Finally it was discovered that she had endocarditis (infection in heart)that had ravaged one of her heart valves. This required open heart surgery and replacement of the defected valve. The endocarditis stemmed from an infected temporary dialysis catheter. She was in the hospital for over a month and a half or so. Needless to say she was confused, lost tons of weight, and lost the ability to walk or care for herself. She was placed in a nursing home for rehab, but several more stays in the hospital only made her fall several steps back on her rehab and she never has fully recovered. It was discovered that she also had a tumor on one of her kidneys and her kidney was removed in the Fall of 2011 and supposedly it was all contained and it was early stage renal (kidney) carcinoma (cancer). While my mother was in the hospital my father had trouble breathing and I took him to the hospital. It as discovered he was in kidney failure and they both ended up in the hospital at the same time. Now my father is on permanent kidney dialysis.
Now fast forward to present day April 6, 2012. My mother's dialysis shunt would not stop bleeding and she was taken to the emergency room. She also complained of right leg pain and ultimately she ended up with a CT angiogram. This test revealed she not only had some blockage in one of her arteries in her leg, but that she had metastatic cancer to her liver, lungs, and a site near her spleen. Of course we are devastated.
They have no money. The money they do get is always depleted as soon as they get it from Medicare. My mother's social security check went straight to the nursing home and still was not enough to cover her bill. My father would have to pay over $1,000 a month because Medicare would only pay for several weeks. Since she has been in the hospital now for almost 2 weeks, we have pulled her out of the nursing home because the expected us to pay over $180 A DAY to keep her spot at the nursing home.
Now we are faced with a surgery to fix her leg, a plan for cancer treatment, and no suitable place for my mother to live. Their current home is in shambles and I mean SHAMBLES. Roof leaks and is falling apart. I assume there is some black mold lingering. No central air or heat as their units are broke. Plus large amounts of stuff--my mother also was a hoarder. The house is disgusting and it has been hard to clean up with out major assistance and with constant trips to the hospital who has ample time (?). They live in a small town and it is very hard to simply get a dumpster to throw many items away. The house would have to be completely gutted and redone. The floors are sinking in and it is very dangerous. They don't have the funds to fix any of it and nor do I.
I have missed work several times over the last year and more with FMLA, but never have enough PTO to fully cover my own losses.
My siblings have yet to start their lives. They have been with my parents ever since 2007 to help them with everything. Even when my mother was in a nursing home my siblings and my dad would go see my mom every single day--we just didn't trust the care of the nursing home and rightly so because she developed a bed ulcer on her heel after the wound care nurse said it was getting better--not even close! And yes the blocked artery in her leg and her bed ulcer on her heel are related. The wound care nurse and the Dr. for the nursing home should have caught this medical issue.
So life has been tough, but reading about it doesn't even give it justice. We need financial assistance, a new home or help to fix it--we need a lot of help. I want my brother and sister to finally get on their own feet and do what they want to do. I feel bad for them because I was able to finish college and have a career, a husband, and a home. They have yet to accomplish their goals and it makes me sad and sick to see them so depressed. They are in their late 20s and my parents are both 65 y.o.
If anyone has a kind heart, I promise you I'm not lying. I have proof of all I have written about and I swear on everything--my family, my husband, etc. that this is all real. Thank you for your time and interest. If you can't help at least please pray for us.
I'm trying this BegsList as desperation as I don't know what to do. My wish is to get them a nice clean place to live and live their last years worry free.

hi,i am a stressed out mum with 5 children,2 have Aspergers/Autism and i am trying my best to look after them and study so that i can better myself and hopefully be able to take them for a little holiday as we have never been anywhere.i do not want to go anywhere expensive, just a weekend away with them would be the best ever.my house also has terrible dry rot,i have spent all the money i had having it treated (house insurance would not cover it).we had to rip all the kitchen worktops and units out(ruined by rot)and knock all the plaster off the walls to treat it,if i could just have any small amounts i could buy kitchen units on sale and try and give the children a tidy clean place to cook and eat their food and do their homework in,i will be extreemly greatful for any amounts to help me so that the children will have a better life,my autistic son cant cope with mess and cries all the time and asks me why he is the only boy in his class that hasnt been on holiday.thank you for reading this plea and if you feellike you would like to help out i am eternally greatful.thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Veteran's Family in Need

I am married a veteran who has sustained a traumatic brain injury in Afghanistan. My husband is currently awaiting to receive 100% VA disability, but it has taken a very long time. I am a college student maintaining a steady GPA of a 4.0, and I do my very best to move forward in order to get somewhere in my life, but this year has been an absolute nightmare for our family. I had a premature child this year which resulted in me receiving 25 units of blood transfer and a two week hospitalization. The baby was three months early, but thankfully he did make it and is now doing pretty well. I have a daughter and two other sons who are completely disabled and one is in a wheelchair. We do own our house, but we live in a little town and my husband has to drive 45 miles roundtrip daily in a v8 truck cause that is the only vehicle we have. Right now my husband is being forced to sleep in our truck in freezing weather in order to not lose his job because he will not have enough gas to get back home and to work again for the rest of the week if he does not. I have done everything I possibly can, and somehow I just can't get out of this rut so I am forced to kindly ask those of Christian hearts to please help my family. God will bless you for helping others and spreading genuine love and charity. I don't want a handout, I would rather give it to someone else, but I am at the end of my rope. The fuses in our house blew out and we won't have heat because our house has no heat except plug-in portable heaters. I really need some help. Any will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Veteran's Lady

My husband and I got married 3 years ago, when I was 22. I never expected what was going to happen 3 months later. My husband was diagnosed with a dehibilitating illness that made it impossible for him to work, to feed himself, and clothe himself. I was left to do everything; which is okay with me...except for the whole financial aspect. I have to take care of my husband, work 40 hours a week, and go to school taking 19 units a semester so I can ensure a better future for us. I have 1,000s of dollars in medical bills and other related expenses and no matter how hard I work or how many shifts I pick up I cannot get ahead. I need some help, desperately. I would appreciate any sort of donation you can afford. It would be an amazing relief and burdon off of my shoulders if I could finally get ahead and get past this crisis. I would be eternally grateful. Thank you so much for your consideration.

help with stub-standard living conditions

I am medically disabled, and am able to squeak by on regular monthly expenses. But I am living in a 'fixer-upper' that has not been fixed.
1/2 of my flooring is ripped up due to mold. I can't replace it, so cracked concrete is what I have to walk on. The rest of the carpet is disgusting from what the prior owners did to it.
I cannot move, as my mortgage is really low.
It costs 10K to renovate one of these 30+ year old units (condo) (800 sq. feet) not including things like the A/C (also needs replacing) and the stove.
In the 6 years I have lived here I have managed to save enough to replace the water heater when it rusted out, and the disposal for the same reason.
Otherwise, if this were a rental unit and I had a landlord, he'd be a 'slum lord' as these are not proper living conditions for me and my precious dog.

I'm mainly an acoustic guitar player. I don't play the keyboard or have access to the wide palette of sounds a keyboard player typically has, but for years I've had my eye on Roland's guitar synth processors. Basically, I'd like to have one and a midi guitar in order to accomplish my goal of being able to do cool things like play a grand piano albeit with my guitar. The cost of the processor units is between $650 - 850 according to google. I provide my music free of charge to everyone through my youtube site. I recommend listening to "Liquid Inspiration" or "The old rugged cross" to get a feel for my sound.

Anyway -- A big thank you to all who donate. And may even those who don't be blessed. When I get the processor I will be making a Youtube video about this...

Young Family in Need of a New Home .. ASAP

We moved into our current home in July of this year... and just fond out some news about the house that was not disclosed to us before we rented the unit. The house was condemned less then 5 years ago, the owner did the minimum amount of work to allow the property to "pass" to be able to be rented out again, another issue is the "inspector" is apparently friends with the landlord... apart from that there is multiple issues within both units of the house, when ever we use our washer it basically empties into part of basement as well as leaks into the other units basement... (Washer is on main floor) granted the house is an older house, it still shouldn't be this way... I have a young family kids age 10 , 4 and 9 months and my wife is a severe asthmatic, I am concerned that once we turn on the heat any mold that is in the basement area will travel and grow with the heat from the furnace not to mention what might come out of the vents ... I NEED to get my family out of this house before anyone gets sick...as of right now its only me working and as I said just moved in at the start of July , WE need OUT ASAP and need a bit of help for first and last on another place or a down payment for a house... IF there is anyone out there that can lend a helping hand we would be forever grateful.... thanks Jay

I am looking for help. My fiance spent his life savings on inventory for a business for his parents. His father had a heart attack and cannot work, and his mother slipped and broke her knee cap. He is paying for storage units and our house is falling apart. The insurance company will not pay. We have cracks in the walls and the doors will not close correctly. I am looking for money to help repair the house and pay bills. I just recently lost my teaching position because of cuts in the budget. We tried selling the inventory on Ebay and we had 2 articles in the local newspaper. I can give you links, pictures, etc. The stress is really getting to him. Thank you for your time.
