Help Bring Dog Scouts to the UK!

Posted by shootingstardsa on 2012-05-07 21:58:25

Positive "Pet Parenting" is the main goal of the Dog Scouts of America. Troops have and are still forming all across the US and there has been a significant decrease in the amount of dogs being given up to the pound as unwanted or untrainable. With the success of DSA Troops in the US, DSA Troop 188 has selected a pet parent/Dog Scout team to go to the UK. An AP article published in The Day Newspaper of New London, CT and Norwich Bulletin, Norwich, CT has received many many viewings in the UK. The article can be found at: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/dog-scouts-america-troops-22-states-16064429
.

DSA Troop 188 wants to act now to capture the attention and passion of the UK dog owners and dog lovers. DSA Troop 188 has already been in touch with dog clubs in the UK that wish to partner with the team when they arrive to facilitate the DSA Troops formations.

DSA Troop 188 needs $5,000 USD in order to sent the ambassadorial team over. This covers the settlement costs for both the human and the Dog Scout and transport fees.

Won't you please help fellow dog lovers, dog owners and the dogs and help reduce the amount of dogs in pounds? Any little bit you can give will help tremendously. Thank you in advance for your support, you/your company will be mentioned in the Troop newsletter and on here.

Dog's lives are short enough, let's do all we can to help them enjoy their time with us.

Hi, my name is Steven. My wife and I just had to move out of our house because we couldn't afford our home anymore and all the bills that we had. We moved to Arkansas back in October and I still haven't been able to find a job. We would greatly appreciate to live on our again. Currently, we are living with a friend who has already helped us tremendously. As of the 28th of April we are 3 months behind on our car payment. Any and all help would be so beneficial to us. My wife would love to be able to go back to college in the Fall and as of right now we cannot afford the tuition or books. I am asking for any kind of assistance. I appreciate anyone who helps us out.

I need help ASAP!!!

This is not a beg, this is a cry for help. I am 23 years old, with no kids and no vehicle. I have a good paying job where I make over $30,000 dollars a year working with special needs adolescent. I am in a massive amount of debt that I honestly placed myself in trying to clean up a debt that I already had but was manageable. I took out about 6 pay day loans, not all at once to pay of a bill I was short on and it continued to collect interest and build up and pull money out of my account to a point where I was over drafting my account at the same time and collecting a ridiculous amount of overdraft fees. It took me a month to pay it off and literally the next day the payday loan company's continued to pull out and set me back into overdraft so I'm at an enormous amount of negative now and left my apartment to someone else because I cannot manage. I left my apartment with nowhere to go and not even a car to sleep in and I just want to get rid of these payday loan people but it's quite impossible when they pull out my money every two weeks and it's not there because my bank has eaten it in overdraft fees. I'm stranded I'm desperate I have been thinking I the impossible just to get my hand on $4,700 to clear my situation so I can go back to life. I have been gambling as a result of this because at this point I feel I have nothing to lose. All I am holding on to is my good job. Im miserable and facing all types of depression and stress. I have been biting my lip out of anxiety til it bleeds and I have no one to go to. My enormous pride has let up tremendously through this experience which might have been Gods lesson and I try to be more grateful for what I do have however it's not many more sleepovers I can disguise as I have no where to go.
Please find it in your heart to help me please! I will do any good for this help I am in desperate need of it. I can't promise you I can pay you back right away but I am willing to do anything to get me out of this finacial nightmare.

In need of money for summer school

Posted by chriskinsey92 on 2012-03-16 00:58:36

I am a student who is currently taking a break from school because I need to find a job in order to make some money in order to continue my education. With grants and loans, I still manage to fall short every semester. It would help tremendously and be greatly appreciated if anyone could help me as much as possible. It is going to cost approximately $3000 to attend school in the summer, that is including tuition cost for summer, cost of living in the residence hall, and also the cost of food in the cafeterias on campus. I am a student, and cannot rely on my parents for this because they simply cannot afford to help me with this. If you could, please donate so that I can return to school.
Money Help
First let me begin by stating that if I were not in desperate need of help I would not go to such lengths to seek it out. As of right now I am currently a senior in college majoring in English. Last year, after taking prescribed antibiotics I did not need, I was diagnosed with a severe case of C.diff. At first, I did not recognize the symptoms as anything worth seeking medical attention for so I went on with life as a waitress awaiting the fall semester to begin. But my illness got the best of me and on the first day of class I found myself severely sick and was forced to run out of class to make it to the restroom. I sat in the stall and cried trying to understand why I was so sick for so long; I knew then that something was wrong. My mother insisted on taking me to the ER, once admitted they drew my blood and determined that I was indeed severely sick. My white blood cell count was over 40,000. They took x-rays, MRIs and Cat scans to determine the severity of my illness. While running the test they discovered a tumor on my liver, luckily it is begnine but I am suppose to have it checked every six months to ensure it won't become cancerous. Of course, this is not possible for me since I do not have insurance and as of right now I am tremendously in debt. My illness forced me to seek the help of a GI, unfortunately, they are ridiculously pricey and my bills have skyrocketed. I begged family and friends for financial assistance just to pay the minimum fee in order to be seen, but I have exhausted they kindness. My family has been great; they have helped me as much as they could even while they themselves do not have much. I was forced to quit my job because I was sick for well over six months. They too were kind enough to let me work when I could but it became too much trying to juggle school and work while sick. On top of my acquired medical bills I also am $40,000.00 in student debt. I am frightened by the amount of debt I have and am worried I will not land a job post-graduation soon enough to begin paying on them. I am proud of myself for sticking through school all while being sick. I am not bitter, the illness taught me many lessons that I will take with me forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I hope to someday pay all the kindness forward. Thank you for reading.
Blessing,
Mary

Student in Need of Some Financial Help

Posted by cheart on 2012-03-13 00:58:10

Hi, my name is Cassia and I am a first year University student in Ontario. I am seeking some financial help, to assist me in paying my post-secondary tuition fees. I am currently working two part time jobs to support my rent and phone bills, but I have not been able to set aside very much money for my tuition ($10,000), seeing as rent is very expensive in this city.

I go to school out of town because it was one of the only three universities that offered my program (Foods and Nutrition). My father is retired and my mother works part time since he retired. They do not have enough money to help me out, even though they have offered me assistance in the past. I know that they would go broke if they tried helping to pay my tuition, and I would not want to put them in such a position.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and would help me out tremendously!!

Thank you for your consideration!

University Student Looking for Some Financial Help

Posted by cheart on 2012-03-12 23:58:43

Hi, my name is Cassia and I am a first year student in Ontario. I live away from home, because the university in my home town did not offer my program. I have no sources of funding besides trying for scolarships, which are very competitive at my school. My father is retired, and my mother works part-time, so they don't have money to spend on themselves, let alone to spend on my schooling. I have three more years of school, and am hopefully taking the year off next year, to work, which might help. As for now, I am working 2 part time jobs to support my rent and phone bill, but I have not been able to pay my up-coming tuition, which is of $10,000. Any donation would help tremendously! Thank you so much for your consideration.

We need help with taxes

Posted by nt1962 on 2012-02-17 15:58:59

We desperately need your help! We are a small church located in an economically disadvantaged community. We own a house that was deeded over to us by a former pastor and are at risk of losing that property because of our inability to pay some past due taxes on the property.

The house was deeded to the church over 30 years ago by a former pastor of the church who had become ill and subsequently passed away. The house is not located in the same community as the church. (In fact, it is some distance away from the church, and therefore could not be utilized for church-related purposes which would have taken it off of the tax roll). As a result of gentrification in that community, the property values have increased tremendously. The property tax assessment for the property owned by the church escalated to staggering heights during the housing bubble.

Because of this the church has had much difficulty keeping up with all of the taxes on the property (a general tax, a school tax, and a village tax). The rental income from the property is used to assist the church with operating expenses, maintenance of all of the church properties, as well as paying the taxes. Finally, reassessment in the last couple of years has brought down the amount of taxes to be paid and we are better able to handle some of the current taxes due, but some of the older taxes were sold and consolidated in tax lien sales. The consolidation of the prior taxes due has hurt us tremendously. Numerous times the unpaid taxes were consolidated prior to our completion of raising enough funds to pay off some of them in their unconsolidated state. Individually some were $1,000 to $3,000 respectively. They have been consolidated totaling almost $19,000. We are not permitted to pay the liens individually which was viable, we have to pay them in total.

There is a holding company based in the community where the house is located which purchased those liens. That company is now a few months away from being able to begin foreclosure proceedings and take a valuable piece of real estate out from under the church. This would be devastating to the church.

The church has been in the process of trying to sell the house and use the proceeds from the sale to build a much needed new church building in the community it is located as well as to pay off those outstanding liens at closing, and to unload a property that was once a blessing to the church, but has long since become a burden. We don’t want to lose the property. We want to be able to sell it. We had some offers on the house, but at the last minute a promising deal fell through. Previously interested buyers, for some reason now, are less interested. We feel it is possible that there may some collusion within the community where the house is located to wait for the lien process to move forward and that potential purchasers connected with the holding company will be able to take the property and flip it to tremendous financial advantage, while leaving the church with nothing for thirty years of struggling to take care of the property.

It is important that we are allowed to sell the house and build our new church. We are in the final stages of making the new building a reality. All we have to do is secure the construction financing. Receipt of a commitment letter for the sale of the house is all that stands in the way of a 40+ year dream for the congregation. It would give us the down-payment that we need to move forward.

With the construction of a new church, we would be able to operate before and after school programs, have handicap accessible restrooms, and provide better services to the community. We have a senior citizens housing complex across the street from our church, and many of the residents would attend our church but they are unable to climb up and down the stairs to the single-person restrooms in the basement. We also operate a summer day camp which would benefit greatly from having more space in which to operate. We would be able to accommodate many more youngsters, many of whose families are unable to afford the other summer camps operating in the area. We have had to turn down prospective campers because of space constraints.

Our congregational makeup has changed over the years. The financial impact of that changed has been coupled with the severe impact of the economic downturn on our community. We have more retirees now on fixed income, youth, and small children, many of whom have young mothers, and some people who are working age, mostly with working class wages. We need to build a church to better meet the needs of our congregation and community. We operate a food pantry and soup kitchen which would be able to open more days a week with bigger pantry space and a modern commercial kitchen.

As I stated, we are in the final stages of the building project. We have our permits, plans, and contractor selected. We are ready to obtain financing. The congregation, which has always striven to do much with little, has invested much in this projected over the years and the sale of this property owned by the church is the one thing that stands in the way of it happening. Please do not let us lose this property just so a few people can make a quick buck. Help us to pay off these tax liens so that our church will be able to help transform an entire community!

Sadly, in June 2008 Alexis’ husband was diagnosed with throat cancer. In October 2008 her husband Michael lost his battle with cancer.

In February of 2009, Alexis and her family moved in with her grandfather. He had recently lost his wife (her grandmother) from heart failure. All of Alexis life, she has been a wonderful sister and friend. She has always been there for so many of us when we needed her. The family is struggling to survive daily. Kimberly has been so brave through all of this. Kimberly was born with a deformed kidney that had to be
removed, and she is currently awaiting a transplant. This has been a hard time for her fighting leukemia, and losing her father at 4 years old. Everything has been difficult on the family during this time. Alexis’ has tried everything including collecting cans to make extra money for the family. Kimberly’s excessive medical expenses have made it extremely difficult for the family.

Please Help With Medical Bills and Teeth

Posted by pinkwarrior on 2012-02-06 18:58:32

Hi. I am a low-income disabled woman in need of some financial assistance. In August 2009, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had surgery in October 2009 to remove both breasts along with reconstructive surgery. In December of '09, I started 6 rounds of chemo followed by 35 radiation treatments. Although the bills were astronomical, I was struggling along trying to pay them. My only income is social security disability. My healing was progressing until I developed a hernia from the reconstruction surgery (they took part of my abdomen along with my abdominal muscles to construct my breasts).

In Nov.'10, I had surgery to repair the hernia as well as the second phase of reconstruction to my breasts. I was to only be in the hospital overnight but due to complications, I ended up hospitalized for 2 weeks. I returned home the day before Thanksgiving but still was not doing well. The Sunday after Thanksgiving, the paramedics were called to take me to the hospital again. It was determined that I was in acute renal failure due to a bowel obstruction. I was in ICU for a number of days. While in the hospital, I was placed on dialysis with the hope that my kidney functions would kick back in. After another two weeks in the hospital, I was released to go home.

On New Year's Day of 2011, I began feeling ill again and was taken to the ER. After several tests, I was admitted again and scheduled for a colonoscopy to determine the problem. It was discovered that a section of my colon was almost completely closed off. I was scheduled for surgery to correct this. I Thought they would just remove the bad section, sew me up, and I could go home in a couple of days. I woke up with a colostomy which I had until April of 2011.

All this time, the medical bills were steadily racking up. On top of all this, Ever since the chemo treatments, my teeth have been feeling like they are about to fall from my head. The chemo did damage while undergoing treatments.

I would really appreciate it if I could receive some assistance in paying these bills and getting my teeth fixed. I am on a fixed income and can barely make ends meet. I receive food donations from time to time and that helps me tremendously with groceries.

Leaving a Domestic Violence Situation with 2 small children

Posted by domesticabusesurvivor on 2012-01-25 22:58:50

As hard as it was to just pick up and leave an abusive (both physical and mental) of 12 years, it was even harder to have my youngest daughter who is 3 walk up to me and say "mommy why are you crying, is it because daddy is mean too you?" That absolutely melted my heart and gave me the "final straw" scenario to leave my husband, and take my children so that they can be raised in a non-hostile environment. This decision has definitely come with a number of hoops and hurdles to get over. It doesn't scare me that I am now going to me a single mother, but its all the responsibilities that come with that title.

First hurdle, I had to overcome is finding a place for myself, 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son to live. There is a very limited amount of shelters for women with children, so we ended up staying with my bff in her 1 bed/ 1 bath 695 sqft apartment. While this is only temporary I am glad we at least have somewhere to lay our heads at night. Not to mention I work, 67 miles from my BFF's residence, and my kids school is another 80 miles away. This commute has almost been impossible to make, but my choices are limited at this point.

The things I so desperately need help with now is ANYTHING in your heart or power to do. Donations thru paypal are great and would help tremendously. I have to find a place closer to work and my children's school, I have my daughters school tuition of $385 due every month.I am lucky that her school is working with me considering the circumstances. I also still have to buy diapers and wipes, and organic food because my son has asthma and allergies. I never wanted to be rich, I just don't want to have to worry every week. I hope to be in a better position one day where my fiances not only allow me to live but also to help out anyone else in need.

Domestic Violence is such a mind game, it took me 12 years to see beyond the tricks and realize the damage it has done to not only myself but my two small children who are like sponges. Their behavior lately has me thinking that they will definitely have to go to family counseling in the near future.

Anything that is in your power to do will be so greatly appreciated. .50, $1, $5....whatever will help me rebuild our family unit. My husband mot helping me or focusing on the kids is his way of getting to me, but I cannot and will not ever go back. If anything please keep my children in your prayers, I hurt for them because I could not provide them with a traditional two -parent home. They are getting the short end of the stick and as a mother who is all about her kids...it hurts! Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you are in a similar situation my prayers go out to you as well.

I am a single mom with a 15 year old daughter that just started highschool, I work full-time and have been at my job for over 9 years.I have been financially struggling the past several months, no child support. My daughter is very bright, she's in the band, ROTC, Drama,Debate Team, and taking all honor classes...I am so proud of her and she deserves more and I don't have it to give to her because I am so behind on my bills by pushing things forward because of car problems and making sure that she has what she NEEDS first, most of the time I get food from my brother or go to the grocery store and know I don't have it but we have to eat.I have not finish paying band fees (still owe $285),rent behind, utilities late (paying half each time I get paid, $200), the only way that I can have a few dollars is pushing something forward....well I can't push anymore....just praying that it will get better. I have been in a very, very, depressed mood, living off overdraft and feel like I'm working for nothing. I don't want to go anywhere but to work and run my daughter back and forth to practice. If I could get help paying my rent which is $550 it will help me a whole. I get paid twice a month and sometimes once, If I could get the rent caught up I could get all my other bills back on schedule as my pay periods fall.I also have issues at work which does not make dealing with things any easier. If I could catch my rent up it will clear my mind tremendously and I can focus more on my daughter mentally instead of how am i going to pay this or that. The most important thing is I have noticed how distant I have been with her and she needs me mentally and physically, I want to be able to smile and joke around with here again instead of taking everything so personal...inwhich later i apologize to her and it is okay. I would like to thank you in advance and would appreciate whatever help we can get! Once I get back on my feet I would love to help someone else out....I really feel the pain.

Hello my name is Gregg I'm a 21 year old college student in desperate need of a car. Lately I've fallen on hard times as has much of the nation and please help those in need of medicine or toys for there children on Christmas, but if you have anything left it would help tremendously its a $1,500 down payment and that's all i really need help on. I live thirty minutes away from my school and another 30 minutes away from my job and my old car is costing me more money just to drive it back and fourth and I'm falling behind on other bills because my gas bill is outrageous I'm hoping my story has moved at least a few out there i know were all struggling but any little bit of money will help. Thank you all and have a wonderful holiday season
