Multiple Myeloma

Posted by Caregiver on 2012-05-14 23:58:18

My husband was diagnosed with multiple myeloma three years ago. He underwent a bone marrow transplant, and is currently not working. Any help with our constant medical bills would be most appreciated. Thank you so much.

Help a New Widow

Posted by icepac51 on 2012-05-06 18:58:04

My husband passed away last month due to a congenital heart condition called Ebsteins Anomaly. Due to this heart defect, he was not able to get life insurance. He has spent the last two years in and out of the hospital incurring enormous bills. In August 2011, he had a massive open heart surgery to try to repair his tricuspid valve. It didn't work. He was on the list for a transplant but he didn't live long enough to get one. I am now saddled with thousands in medical bills, but more importantly, I have no money in the bank now. I am working but my salary pays the bills but not the mortgage, and I need help now. My payment is $890, so if you could help me out by donating $5 to me and enough people donate, hopefully I will be able to get it paid this month. I'm expecting some extra money in June, so it's just for this month that I need help. God bless you, this is very hard for me to ask for this, but I sincerely need the help now. Thank you.

Bone Marrow Transplant

Posted by janee on 2012-05-01 14:58:15

I am in need of a bone marrow transplant. My doctor who goes to our church says the entire procedure will cost about $700k but he will do the entire procedure for $525k since he won’t charge his fee. God bless this man. I have since been able to acquire $75k by placing my mother’s home on the market and have her move in with us. That was nine months ago and now my situation is getting worse. Dr. Grant says that I have almost 4 months left of life if this procedure is not performed and I am desperate. I am only 21 and I don’t have any kids, I don’t party, I am not promiscuous. What did I ever do to deserve this? My next birthday is in December and I may not live to see it. Don't know what else to say.

To all who donate, may God bless you.

I developed perhaps the ultimate in 'sustainability' based perma culture farming with almost no tilling required here in Oregon. I am not big on all the sustainability jargon but what I have done is created a kind of natural farm factory that I would like to see reproduced on a larger level. It produces high carbohydrate value food with almost no irregation although some was required to get it started and revolves around an ancient plant speices friend of man-kind the Chestnut Tree. Believe it or not chestnut trees can produce upto 2,000 lbs each of nuts a year if spaced at least 40 feet apart. There is a story and a book on how to do what has been discovered here on a small farm at a very much larger and perhaps international basis. The economy and use of the Chestnut is a bit of a harder sell than wheat , rice or corn. It is the lowest fat tree nut in existence. It is also glutten free. The farm still has nuts for sale from last year thanks to their being no organized major distribution network for our product like other basic crops and growing competition (all good for the long run) Money or new land to develop in the Pacfic Northwest is sought after. We have many nuts to plant and many seedlings ready to transplant and we have other types of plants that play a role in the development. Inexpensive cleared land that needs to be replanted in the Northwest is sought after for this purpose. Land that is inexpensive and not suitable for vinyards or other uses other than slow timber growth would be perfect but at an affordible price please if possible. The amazing thing about chestnut trees is their tap roots can allow them to self irregate in places where it seems there is no water to resourse at all at the surface. donations accepted as well as land donations/ participation. Chestnut trees also have value as wood and timber as a hard wood. In some areas once timber is cut down in the Northwest most of the value of the land is gone which would be a perfect time for us to go in and buy iti to reforest it with an eye to new permaculture farming. please help if you can.

I took him into the hospital and they told me that he had relapsed once again. this was devasting news since i am ready so behind in medical bills. Love story that actually came true. My husband and I were high school sweethearts at Mascoutah High School. Both of our dads were in the military and we lost track of one another. It took 27 years for us to find one another. We were both still in love with one another after all the years we were apart. We found one another again on face book. I moved from TX and gave up a good career to move back to Mascoutah so we could be together.

We had quite a bit of money saved up but after moving here I have had a hard time finding a full time job. I took what I could just to keep money coming in but it is only part time and pays less than half of what I was making. My husband was disabled and awaiting a liver transplant so he only had social security disability for income.

Our dream was to buy a house in Mascoutah after I found a good job but unfortunately we never got to live out that dream. 6 months after moving here his health went downhill. We used all our savings to pay rent, utilities and medical bills for him going in and out of the hospital on a regular basis. No matter how many jobs I have applied for no one even calls to give me the opportunity to interview.

After all these years we finally got married September 30, 2011. This was our dream come true. We were really looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together but unfortunately that did not happen. My husband became really ill and passed away December 8, 2011.

He was so worried about me being taken care of and he thought I would continue to get his social security disability money if something did happen to him but I knew I wouldn't and I didn't have the heart to tell him that I wouldn't. I am only 46 and I would have to be 60 to qualify for his benefits. I am just happy that he passed away thinking that I would be taken care of.

I used the last little bit of savings to pay toward his funeral expenses and I was fortunate enough to raise some money by having a trivia night in his honor. I have enough money to pay the rent for February but no money for any other bills such as utilities or any remaining funeral expenses or to even buy a headstone for him. I also have a 21 year old son that I have been putting through college and now I have no way to help him continue his education.

I rarely eat or sleep worrying about how I will survive on my own and ending up on the street homeless. Some days I wish the good lord would have just taken me at the same time because I feel so lost and alone and I lost my one and only true love.

I have never had to ask anyone for money and I feel ashamed that I am but I really want to live out our dream of buying a house in Mascoutah one day but the most important thing right now is finding a way to survive without becoming homeless. I have no one else to turn to.
Michael O. Cortez, born Friday, Oct. 18, 1963, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, IL. Survived by his wife, Wanda Cortez of Mascoutah, IL. This information can be verified by: Kurrus Funeral Home 1773 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville, IL 62223 (618)235-2100.

You don't know how much this means to me and I would so greatly appreciate it if anyone can find it in their heart to help me. I am trying to hang in there and I am really hoping to have some kind of future to look forward to. I have worked so hard all my life and I don’t want to give up on everything that I have worked so hard for.

God Bless you all and words cannot even begin to describe how much your help would be greatly appreciated.

Alexa is mother of 4 (3-Amanda, 4-Kasey, 7-Kimberly and 9-Ava years old.

Her 7 year old daughter Kimberly
is currently on dialysis, and has been diagnosed with Leukemia. In July of 2007 Alexis lost her oldest sister when passed away from breast cancer. At that time she took in her two children. Sadly, in June 2008 Alexis’ husband was diagnosed with throat cancer. In October 2008 her husband Michael lost his battle with cancer.

In February of 2009, Alexis and her family moved in with her grandfather. He had recently lost his wife (her grandmother) from heart failure. Shortly after that, he became very ill and suffered 2 strokes. Alexis was working full-time, and taking care of him and her children. He had become very forgetful, and he hadn’t been taking care of his medications. In August of 2010 he had another stroke that was so bad that his mouth completely twisted to one side, and he was in a wheelchair. December of 2010, he suffered a massive stroke and died.

All of Alexis life, she has been a wonderful sister and friend. She has always been there for so many of us when we needed her. The family is struggling to survive daily. Kimberly has been so brave through all of this. Kimberly was born with a deformed kidney that had to be
removed, and she is currently awaiting a transplant. This has been a hard time for her fighting leukemia, and losing her father at 4 years old. Everything has been difficult on the family during this time. Alexis’ has tried everything including collecting cans to make extra money for the family. Kimberly’s excessive medical expenses have made it extremely difficult for the family.

Need Funds for Mother's Liver Transplant by Year's End

Posted by thesecondliver on 2012-01-28 12:58:28

My forty-five year-old mother is diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, and she is currently waiting on an ongoing list for a liver transplant. She is experiencing a variety of symptoms, including ascites, hepatic encephalopathy and jaundice. She visits her hepatologist biweekly, but there is only so much he can do. The costs of interferon therapy alone are expensive, and she is not eligible for a liver transplant without insurance.

This fundraiser is created solely for her liver transplant, and hopefully, she will receive one by year's end. Every cent and dollar of every donation and contribution received from the kind and tender-hearted will be appreciated and acknowledged.

Posted by Elmer on 2011-11-07 22:58:23

This is real and I don't know what to do. I had a tumor removed from my head this year and it turned out to be cancer. I have not been able to work regular any longer and I have to go in for a stem cell transplant in December and will not be able to work for several months while I recoup. My wife is on disability and it is horrible. Waiting on ssdi and they will not say if I will get help. I am about to hit the foreclosure point on my house. I know other people have it worse than me but I am desperate.

Please Help!!!

Over the past 8 yrs.,I've had kidney failure, received a transplant and have been in and out of the hospital countless times.I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes because of the transplant.
Even though I have insurance my bills have kept piling up.Guess what?Insurance doesn't pay for everything. My wife had to keep taking off work to be with me everytime I was admitted to the hospital.
I also had to have 2 hernia surgeries. My ureter scarred twice, which meant more surgery.
During the time I was in dialysis,I had to work less hours to attend my appointments.
I need any help I can get to help pay for my escalating bills and to keep my house.Anything you can do will help.Thank You!!!

Need cash to pay the rent and phone

Posted by cbryce on 2011-07-06 20:58:31

I am on the verge of being homeless. I need cash to help pay my rent which is now late. I have been looking for work for the past two months with no luck. I have applied to over 80 jobs. My boyfriend is post kidney transplant and now has to have a pancreas transplant because the anti rejection drugs killed his pancreas. He also has to have surgery on his shoulder due to severed ligaments. We also found out recently that the dr wants to have his thyroid removed as well. He is currently fighting Social Security to get it reinstated because they cut him off over a year ago and they claim that he is able to work. I have a 13 year old daughter that needs clothes esp with school starting next month. I am also trying to take care of my father's finances but he is deep in a hole and has no money to pay his rent this month either. I am on the verge of mental breakdown unless something happens quick. This is my last desperate hope for a miracle. Can anyone help us out?

Please help this PhD Student with her bills :(

Posted by Bailey0505 on 2011-06-15 20:58:09

I never thought I would ever have to beg for money. But at this point, I have done everything I can think of to try to make enough money to pay all of my bills while still going to graduate school, but now I'm worried I will have to drop out and go live back at home with my mom.

I have dreamed of graduate school my entire life and working on drug treatments to help those in need. I recently worked on a project related to helping patients that suffer from Graft vs Host Disease (a debilitating disease when the body rejects a bone marrow transplant). I want to spend my life indirectly helping people, which is why it is so important to me to get my PhD.

Please, right now I have mounting bills (I am $14,000 in credit card debt) and will only get a small stipend to live on for the next 3+ years (I just started my second year of graduate school). The school does not allow students to get outside work since we get a stipend, but I have been being paid under the table to tutor when work is available.

If you would like to talk, please email me at Bailey0505@gmail.com.

Thank you SO MUCH for reading my story.

9 classes to go, but short of funds by 4 classes

Posted by northernowl on 2011-06-03 00:58:41

Three years ago, I managed to get back in school to work towards a BS in software engineering after being on dialysis for 15 years. I'm also finally on the transplant list and should have that occurring within the next two to three years. Waiting to get on the list was necessary because I needed the immunosuppressant drug regiment to advance by two generations before I could be sure that the side effects would not outweigh the benefits. Prednisone alone left me weighing 120 lbs (I should weight at least 170 lbs) during my first go-around with loss of kidney function.

I've had some medical speed-bumps while enrolled that arose from the complications of having both kidneys removed (they found a tumor) that cost me dearly in terms of being able to finish my classes successfully. The result has been the loss of $10491.30 of my financial aid (6 classes worth of tuition at $1748.55 a class). I've already paid $3497.10 out of pocket without going into debt beyond my school loan, but need $6994.20 to finish.

I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, watch TV, or anything else that doesn't contribute to who I am as a person in a positive manner. I mostly read books for entertainment.

Posting here is humiliating and hurts like hell, but I don't see any alternatives. I need to get moving forward so I can nail this degree down before transplant. All I want is to be a productive citizen with as close to a normal life as possible--getting my degree is a big piece of that.

Thank you for at least taking the time to read this.

Just want to make ends meet

Posted by LWilson on 2011-05-10 22:58:47

Well hello there! I must start off by saying that I am not exactly expecting this to work but I figured it was worth a try. I do not have any insane dramatic story to tell and I do not want someone to give me thousands upon thousands of dollars. I do not believe that in our current economy anyone truly has that type of money to spare. I simply am a 23 year old girl working full time in the business world and having a tough time making ends meet. I moved out of the house my boyfriend and I had together when the relationship became violent. I am living on my own for the first real time and as I am sure anyone can relate, it takes some getting use to. I do have rather high bills from student loans as well as gas prices being off the wall but I do not having hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. Simply just not quite making enough in my day to day life to be able to live the way any 23 year old girl should be living. When my friends go out on the weekends, I often stay home in tears terrified that I may not be able to pay my electric bill or make my student loan payment or rent. At my age, having bills go to collections is absolutely heartbreaking. I'm sure my amazing mother would help if she was able but seeing as her and my father are barely able to keep up with medical expenses (shes awaiting a lung transplant), I could never expect them to help. I'm sure anyone reading this who has a few extra dollars would rather spend it on a new outfit or a steak dinner but I simply am asking for a mere $100. I would love to be able to keep my electricity on and I have sort of run out of ideas for what else to do.

Signed,

I am living in my deceased Father's home with a $1200 a month mortgage payment that I can't afford on my disability. Eviction is just around the corner and I am becoming desperate. Hello, I am Lisa, I am only 40 years old and I am awaiting a Double Lung transplant so I can have a second chance at life
I am in need of help with gas money to go to the Dr's and help with co pay's, medical supplies, personal items, groceries, and electric. I am figuring that these cost's will add up to about $1,950.00 over the next 4 months.

Below is a breakdown of what the funds are needed for.

Gas money $1,000 ($250 a month)

Medical supplies and personal items $200 ($50 a month)

Co pay's $350 ($87.50 a month)

Electric $200 (800.00) I have a lot of medical machines that raises my electric and gas bill.

Parking fees of 7.00 a trip (min of 200.oo)

Please help me get a second chance at life, my life depends on this transplant.
I am up against money for gas back and forth to the clinic which is 2 hours away.I do not have a car so I have to rely on others yet pay for the gas.
PLEASE HELP ME TO LIVE. I KNOW THIS IS A BIG WISH BUT MY LIFE IS WORTH SO MUCH MORE THEN 2000.00 DOLLARS. PLEASE HELP ME TO LIVE
Thank you for taking time to read my wish.
