REQUEST FOR LIFE

Posted by pally on 2012-04-14 21:58:03

Dear Sir/Madam
Greetings, Me and my family are farmers located in one of the most remote and rugged regions of Himalayas in India where there are no access to roads or transportations. Our home and fields are situated over the mountain approx. 3500 feet above sea level where the weather is unpredictable which makes farming very hard and life unbearable. All the farm work is done manually by hand by the members of my family. We normally grow garlic in small quantities which we sell to sustain the family for a whole year. As there are no access to roads we have to carry the loads on our backs at times 50 to 80 KG to access the nearest road which is couple of hours down the mountain and is a back breaking process. Even to get small food items we have to be going through this exercise everyday for our survival. Our everyday diet consist of five or six rotis (wheat flour and water mixed and roasted like a pancake) with mostly dal (gravy made out of pulse) with occasional rice two times a day. At times we collect wild vegetables from nearby forest to supplement our diet. Because of lack of nutrition our health conditions also suffer many times in a year. Here even today babies are born in the house. Birth is supervised by one of the older village woman as there are no doctors or any qualified medical people. In cases of emergency we have to carry the patient on our back to the road and any medical attention can be gotten 15 kms further down the road. This has resulted in many deaths in past years with young and old.
Since last two years due to changing weather conditions and untimely rainfall our fields could not yield crops properly. We are poor farmers just scrapping through life trying to stay alive. Added to these problems last year three of my family members one of whom is a six month old baby had deteriorating health conditions which needed hospitalisation and medicines which cost us major portion of the money we could earn by selling our crop. Normally we earn about 50,000 INR in a year by selling garlic and we grow small quantities of wheat and corn enough to keep the family through the year. Due to these sufferings and extra expenditure am now in great distress to be even able to buy seeds to grow crop in our field to sustain ourselves. To have one morsel of food has become a nightmare for all of us and we are nine members in the family with two small babies of 8 months and two years. The future of our survival looks very bleak given the conditions and lack of health and finance to tend the field.
I would be highly grateful if your goodselves would consider me and my family a worthy cause to extend your help to us with 5000 USD which I can use to buy necessary seeds for the crops, few essential medications, a mule for transportation, fix the leaking roof of our home, do little maintenance to our field for yielding more crop and get me, my family andour field back on track as our field is the only source of our survival. My family consist of myself, my sick wife, two sons and two daughters, 2 small babies and a daughter in law. I can provide you with my family snap, address and bank account details upon your heart permitting to help me as whatever I have stated above is genuine and true. Me and my family are seeking this help not because we are lazy but because of protracted and extreme conditions beyond our control which we have been facing since two years continuously under the circumstances outlined above. We need a helping hand to get back on our feet again as your generosity would go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of my family and bring life back into our lives.
Awaiting your kindness and response.
Warm Regards

Negi

Completly Stuck

Posted by MREMBO on 2012-04-11 01:58:36

I greet you all great people. I am a 28 year old woman from Kenya. Currently, I am experiencing financial difficulties, my husband is unemployed and i have to support my family as well as his family. My younger sister relies on me to pay her university fees. I earn a meager salary that barely supports me for two weeks before i turn to seeking help. Mine is a one time request to anyone willing to help me overcome this temporal situation. I believe against all odds that my husband will get a job to supplement my income.

Kindly hear my pleas.
Best regards.

Too Busy Fighting for My Life to Notice the Government Bend Me Over

Posted by proudcitizen on 2012-03-22 20:58:26

I am a married 59 year old disabled man. My wife is also disabled. I paid into Social Security and Federal taxes for 34 years and served my country during the Iran Hostage crisis. While getting my 50 year physical exam my bloodwork and a biospy ended up putting me through 2 chemos for my liver. Even though I wasn't cured we seemed to have stopped the progression of the disease. While going through this living hell our government would not approve my Social Security disability until I was completely penniless. My claim was finally approved after 2 years with no income or money. The judge who approved my claim was appalled that the SS Administration waited so long to approve someone over 55 with a 34 year work history. I was found 100% disabled due to a condition that ends in death. It's pretty obvious they were waiting to see if I would die! Now I do have some income which I am thankful for but it doesn't cover all my expenses. If all I had was general bills like gas, water, electric, car ins. and food I could make ends meet. I am struggling to pay my property tax. I own my home which my father built after WWII. My property tax is billed every 6 months and is over $1000.00 semi-anually my monthly check is only $1300.00 which barely covers the regular bills. Right now I am barely staying ahead of the threats to sell my home for back taxes. I applied for the Homestead Act property tax exemption for seniors and the disabled where they can deduct up to $25000.00 from the value of your home and tax that amount. The average person in my state saves $400.00 a year on this program according to their website. When my tax bill came this exemption only reduced my taxes by $164.00 a year. That's only $82.00 from each semi-annual government extortion. First I was forced to exhaust my life savings before they would approve my disability now this. I must figure a way to supplement my income. I have paid my dues and shouldn't have to struggle and deal with such heavy stress at this stage of my life. These are supposed to be pleasant years when you've lived right. Please, HELP!

Help Me Help Myself

I am a 42-year-old man with wife and daughter, and I would like to start my own business. I currently live in a rural ohio community where full-time work can be very scarce. I do a lot of seasonal work such as farming, construction and odd jobs. I never turn down any jobs I simply can't afford to! Because work availability can be so unpredictable for me, and things can get pretty rough when no work can be found I decided to go into business selling things online through ebay. I have been doing a lot of research on items such as electronics and clothing among other things that can be bought at or below wholesale and then resold for a profit. What I am asking for is help with start up capitol for purchasing items that I can sell for profit. I am hoping that I can supplement my current income with money made online and who knows? Maybe I could eventually do this full time! I am an honest hard-working man who just wants the chance at a better life for me and my loved ones. As my dear mother once told me, "pennies make dollars" so any donations would be greatly appreciated no matter how large or small. If you have read this far I would like to say thank you for your time and may all good things be yours! startingfromscratch1969@gmail.com

Brother and disabled sister need help fast

Posted by HawkJ26 on 2012-02-11 05:58:02

Hello, my name is Jay and I am 41 and take care of my disabled sister as well as go to school to hopefully become a youth pastor. I am asking for donations for my sister who is disabled and needs to be moved to a place where she can be away from the stress of her current situation with her illness .. I am her care giver for the last 5 years and I have been out of work for sometime now going back to school .I was able to supplement our income because I was on unemployment but that has since ran out I am currently out of work and recently had the only car we own a 20 year old ford tempo die and it was our only means of transportation and I used that transportation for all of my sisters needs. Ya see I live with my sister and I do all of her shopping and running around for her. I also make sure she makes it to her doctors appointments on time which she goes quite frequent. She has been disabled for 12 years from an on the job accident and I have been taking care of her for 5 of those years. My mother was helping before that until she passed away suddenly in 07'. we are currently in dire financial need right now and I am trying to raise enough money to get a new vehicle and get caught up on some way overdue bills and move us back home to our hometown in Lake Geneva WI because the physicians here in Iowa can not seem to get a handle on why her health has progressively gotten worse. she has been in and out of the hospital In the past 12 years and she has also other ailments to deal with she had cancer 2 years ago from a tumor in her neck which they removed and they think it was localized so it did not spread which is good news. She has constant leg swelling, incontinence which at her age is demoralizing in itself ,blood disorder, lost her teeth because of the countless medications she has been on,lost a lot of her hair, she had gastric by-pass because the doctors thought that would help her back because she was a very big girl but no so ..nothing changed but made things worse .she can not walk at all really she is severely limited because of the 3 herniated discs in her lower back and right now she has something wrong with her stomach that they think may have to do with her gastric by-pass surgery she had a few years ago but they cannot figure out what. She has severe nerve damage in her lower back which they think maybe the cause of her leg swelling and incontinence. The worst is she is only 41 and has not had a real chance to live..she spends a lot of her disability check on her incontinence and medical supplies because medicare will only allow her so much a month and medications her plan does not cover. I love my sister so much and want to make her as comfortable as I can but with all the negative things happening to her she is starting to have doubts about her faith..and I can't have that. God is the one person I know she loves besides me because we only have eachother...please..We need to raise at least that amount to pay for past due bills and a reliable vehicle so I can bring her back home where we grew up and where I know that is the one place that makes her happy ..I need to take this worry off of her. Right now she has such severe anxiety over all of this medical and financial issues that she has to take 2 different kinds of medicine to combat this anxiety. So not only will that money help her, it will help us to find a vehicle that I can get her to her doctors appointments as well as help her in other means and hopefully to work when I find a job.I am asking anyone that will listen to please..please help my sister ..her health is declining so fast almost everyday and it is something new that is going wrong and I seriously do not know how much more she can bear being stuck in the place she is with no hope of ever having any type of life..i love my sister ..I can not lose my best friend. ..Please help me to show her that there are good people out there who want to help. I know and have faith that there are .Thank you to all who read this story God Bless.

Deployed Sailor trying to stay connected to home.

I am currently deployed over seas and will be for the next year. While I am deployed in an area that I can keep in touch with my family, my current laptop computer just isn't capable of skyping with my family without having a lot of issues and it is really frustrating. I'm not looking for someone to drop enough for me to buy a complete one but if anyone can help supplement me purchasing my own so that I can talk to the wife and kids without my computer throwing a fit, of course I would be very grateful.

My Current Laptop is a Dell Inspiron E1505 with 1GB of Ram, 64 GB Hard Drive, an old Core Duo processor, and integrated video.. It runs but if I have to switch with skyping and viewing what my wife/kids are looking at online, the thing freaks out.

groomer needs help

Posted by Goodgroomer on 2012-02-02 16:58:54

I have worked as a dog groomer for 15 years. The economy has been hard on the field (a lot of people are doing it themselves), and even though I supplement my income with private grooming, going to people's homes, I still make about $400.00 less a month than it takes to pay my minimal bills. I constantly borrow on my direct deposit advance. My 16 year old car needs more work than I can afford. Most of my private clients are elderly so I don't charge as much as most groomers would. I'm also a pet portrait artist and cannot afford the colored pencils and paper I need to draw. The company my boss uses for payroll accidentally put $2,000.00 extra into my account (I nearly fainted). I was honest and told my boss. The money was withdrawn and now I'm back to juggeling my bills. I need enough to buy a decent used car and pay my bills, buy new grooming tools and advertise my business. So tired of struggeling. Thank you.

Struggling To Make Ends Meet

Hello,

I am Veronica, 63 years and live on an Island.

After two devastating hurricanes I went from been a self-sufficient nutmeg farmer to struggling to make ends meet.

Although I have replanted my trees, they take 10 years to fully mature, restoring my income.

Today, the price of food is high. I grow most of what I eat. My surplus is hard to sell as my neighbours are in the same position. It is NOT easy to supplement my ever devaluing pension.

I need $225 a month to make ends meet with my bills. I would, therefore, be very grateful for your kind donation. Thanking you in advance.
Hi,
I am a trainee teacher at university. I am also a mum of 3 with 2 step children. I work in school as a teaching assistant to supplement my university costs as well as to gain useful knowledge for my course. As an older student, with other commitments my course follows the part-time progression route and will take me 4.5 years to complete as opposed to the standard 3 years. This means that my cost extend for an additional 18 months and whilst I love my training, current job and am excited about my future career prospects, as with most things money can be an issue and at times is very tight indeed.
I am due to start placement on the 6th February and this will inevitable incur additional costs. If possible, I would be really grateful for any donation, whatever the size, to ease my mind during this time.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and for your donation should you chose to leave one.

Artist Needs Start-up Funds

Posted by Volante50 on 2012-01-11 01:58:13

I am disabled, and like most folks, unable to make ends meet. But I'm hopeful I can sell my art and get past the hard times. I make beautiful paper collage art on glass and have received much positive feedback from friends and family. The usual response when I show finished pieces to someone is, "Wow, those are beautiful...you should sell them!" So, that's what I want to do, but right now I need money to cover my living expenses for the month. I am confident I can sell art to supplement my disability check, but I need to get past crisis mode so I can focus on the tasks necessary to be successful. My home is my studio; I have some supplies to get started and a modest computer set-up to sell online. Can you please help an honest artist get a hand up by donating $1,000? I would be so very grateful. I also promise to pay it forward. Thank you very much for your consideration.

Pregnant dog rescuer needs your help

Posted by Laurisa77 on 2012-01-10 11:58:29

I recently discovered I am pregnant with my first child and am overwhelmed. I am excited about the idea of becoming a mother and know that I will be a good parent. I am educated, hard working and love children.

I have been a dog rescuer for over 10 years, working as a foster parent for my local humane society. This is 100% a volunteer position that I donate a lot of my time, energy and resources to. In the past 10 years I have rescued, rehabilitated and re-homed over 300 dogs and puppies.

I do have a full-time job to pay my bills. I am a hard worker and have been at my current job for 6 years. However, due to the economy in my area, my income recently took a sharp nosedive. I am looking for additional work to supplement my income and/or a different full-time job (that is not commission based).

Unfortunately, my bills are now behind and my home is in foreclosure. I own a small farm in the country and have a great set-up for the foster work that I do and a great place to raise a child. Rentals in our area tend to be higher than what my mortgage payment is now ($550), so moving wouldn't be a better move for me financially. I am currently 3 payments behind.

With cold weather here now, my electric bill has spiked and is now averaging about $195 a month (most months it is only about $85-$90).

I own my vehicle outright, but it's older and seems to be in need of more and more repairs. Right now I am in debt to my mechanic $165 for brake work he did 2 weeks ago. It's an older SUV and a gas guzzler.

I do not live a fancy lifestyle, by any means. I do not have cable tv, high-speed internet, new clothes or shoes, expensive purses or designer sunglasses. I live a very modest and healthy life and do not believe in waste. I'm not a drinker, not a smoker and do not use drugs of any kind.

The humane society foots in the bill on all of the foster-dog related expenses (vet care, food, toys, etc.), so I have no money going out towards that. I have cut back on the number of dogs that I foster, from 2-3 at a time to just 1. I am a responsible foster parent and in no way a hoarder.

I intend to continue fostering up until I have the baby (due date is August 15th). I get so much personal fulfillment out of rescue work and I know will miss it when the baby comes. However, I know that I will want to focus 100% on my child and being the best mom I can be.

I have always been a big believer in paying it forward to the greater good. I'm hoping that this plea will reach someone out there who is currently in a comfortable financial position and willing to assist someone who is not.

I can, and will, provide proof of any of the facts I stated above, including a letter from my employer, a letter from the humane society director, copies of my utility bills, mortgage bill, etc., upon request.

Survivor's Center

Hello,
I'm a Struggling Author, my book was released in 2010 with no real hope for getting it to the market, deriving from my real life story of how I had to struggle from the pain and the shame of my father's way of showing me that he loved me, my life went in turmoil, with no purpose in living, I found myself running from place to place, after my husband no longer wanted me when he found out that my twisted mined daddy had taken my Innocent. Domestic violence, Rape and Incest is no joke, At a very young age of 13, I experienced all three crimes in ways no human should have to face. My father carried a 45 automatic hand gun threatening to kill me if I tell, when I beg him not to touch me, he would stand off a few feet from me and hit me in the head with Apples and Oranges. The migraines became so severe until I could not do anything but go to bed and keep my head tied tight with a scarf until the pain would ease. As I grew older, I became more reserved not wanting to be around too many people, I would sing in night clubs at night and play for churches on Sundays just to keep a roof over my head. I did not have any real friends, and some of them told me they would not have chosen me for a friend. When I would get a Job, most of the time I would get fired or quit because I could not stand any kind of authority, my father always interfered in anything that I made an attempt to do, he would come to the school and embarrass me in front of my class mate, telling me to get my ass in the car and let's go. I"m truly a survivor, sharing my story and listening to others sharing their story made me realize that there are many people out their hurting from the same things or maybe a difference kind of hurt. My Center will be a resource center where you can get healing from the inside and peace of mind knowing that you are somebody, we will mentor, counsel, do training with professional, Practitioners, self help tapes, good source of water for detox, we are a nonprofit org. with lots of love to give and a friendly environment. I would like to build my center with 1 1/2 ache of land included for 1/2 Million. Anyone out there that can help me to make this happen will be blessed. Buildings are just to high to rent, and grants along will not cover all of the cost to run this type of business. If I can build this center, I can use grant money, for fundraiser , marketing, Vendors, bake sales, I live now on Social Security Supplement. If you will open up your heart I will be most grateful. You can contact me through Paypal May God Bless!!

Never Thought It Would Come to This--Please Help

Posted by AppreciativeRecipient on 2011-12-18 13:58:58

Without sufficient friends or family to rely on, a single person with special-needs pets needs your help in any amount. No steady work in spite of many interviews and diligent searching, multiple health issues, and lack of adequate support network have left this person in a desperate situation. Ten dollars will buy a bag of groceries. One hundred dollars will pay an electricity bill. Eight hundred dollars will help keep this person and the pets in their home. Eighty dollars will help keep communications open so this person can continue to look for work. Eighty-three dollars will buy prescription dry and canned pet food. Twenty dollars will pay for human prescriptions. Two hundred dollars will buy a warm winter coat that fits and which is suitable for job interviews. Five dollars will buy a thrift store garment in the person's current size (presentable clothes that fit are an issue). One hundred twenty dollars will buy a suit for a job interview. Sixty dollars will buy shoes that do not hurt and which are suitable for work. Thirty dollars will help pay for the laundromat for a couple of weeks. Fifteen dollars will buy an herbal supplement to help treat a life-threatening condition.

The financial situation for this person has become very dire due to lack of work. The person is applying for many types of jobs at any rate of pay. This is a skilled and educated individual who is eager to do any work of which the person is capabale. Any amount can help relieve the health-robbing pressure and burden on this person. Two hundred fifty dollars would allow the person to get a needed cleaning for the first time in over two years and to check on tooth pain and a possible jaw problem. Ten dollars will cover the required donation required to visit a low-income medical clinic. Twenty-five dollars will cover most urgent prescriptions for a month.

Two dollars will buy a little bit of fruit. Four hundred dollars will provide a vision exam and new glasses or a couple of pair of replacement lenses as this person is having difficulty seeing with the old glasses.

Please forgive the third person description. It is very hard to write this and just about impossible to use the word "I" in telling this story.

Even a tiny amount will help go for something necessary. No amount is too large or too small to be appreciated or put to practical use to help a very grateful person climb out of a very bad situation and create a more stable and secure life. Thank you again for reading.

My wife and I need help - please.

Posted by LupusInNeed on 2011-12-16 12:58:49

My wife has lupus. As a result we moved across the country to a new state to better her condition. As a consequence, I have not been able to find a job and her insurance is quickly running out. She is getting better, however, she still depends upon a cocktail of medications to ensure her daily well-being.

I have tried for several months to land a job-any job, but with no luck. I am a published author and an historian with a background in archaeology and geology. My wife and I try to lead normal, quiet lives the best we can with her condition. I suffer from epilepsy and as a result I cannot work a night-shift as this will trigger myoclonic seizures.
My wife and I daily make sales on Amazon and eBay and I have been published several times in national publications and have given oral history presentations.

I am trying the best I can in this tempestuous economy to create a healthy, stable home for my wife. However, with the looming threat of limited income and no insurance I can only do so much. I have attempted to create a book dealer business through eBay and Amazon and this has generated some income to supplement my writing income, but this is not enough to support my sick wife.
We try to stay active and engender a healthy lifestyle to encourage her recovery. I am still seeking employment, but as many of you know it is a tough battle. I love my wife very much and am thankful for the care and help she has received thus far. However, I cannot do this alone.

Anything you can do to help is appreciated. We will pay this forward.

Thank you.

Please Help Give My Son A Better Christmas & Pay The Bills

Posted by payinitforward on 2011-12-14 09:58:51

It is a hard position to be in right now for my 10 year old son Roy and me. My name is Nicole and I am a single parent of an awesome kid. Unfortunately, I am unable to pay our monthly bills due to being hospitalized and current recovery time. Although I am no longer in the hospital, I have been off work for over 2 months now and I have long run out of vacation leave with my employment. As one may imagine my income to support my family and to pay our bills as dwindled away and the bills have been juggled and are now stacked high. I am grateful to friends and family for donating Christmas dinner and regular groceries and toiletries which have eased some of our burdens.

I do not expect my medical issue to continue for too much longer. I am hoping to be back to work earning a regular bi-weekly paycheck soon. Unfortunately, we are set back big time on the bills and I have no way of catching up on my own. I do not receive child support because I would rather have my son safe that see any money from a kidnapper. I have spoken to the utility companies and they seem to have had enough of helping me by putting me on payment plans and pushing back due dates of the bills. ALL donated funds will go to paying the household bills. i.e. electricity, gas, phone, water, and I would like to be able to give my son Roy a happier Christmas.

I am going to pay it forward when I am in a better place in life financially, I will help others in need as those who have donated to my son and I. Thank you in advance to those are able to donate and who felt it on their hearts to help us out.

Some extra info: Roy and I live in the great state of Kansas in the USA, we are not scammers, we are a legitimate family in need of help. Tax season is not a good time for me because in order to safe our home I had to file bankruptcy 2 Januaries ago to save our home, and I have been claiming 9 all year long in order to help supplement the $700 that comes out of my check every month that pays back the mortgage company among a few other creditors. Because of claiming 9 all year long, I see no tax return. I have NO credit cards, my car is paid off, the only dept that I have is from my bankruptcy and the money that has been owed to the utility companies. If we don't receive the kindness of others giving we will continue to be in a bad financial situation. I've been poor before and I know I will be okay, but my son, if I cant pay the bills he will have no heat, no water, small Christmas etc...

Roy is a trooper, he is a great son to have and I have always considered myself truly lucky to have him in my life, he tells me he feels the same. He understands that money is tight, we have had the "mommy doesn't have allot of money for Christmas" talk a couple of weeks ago, in which I cried and he was totally understanding and okay with it because "at least I have you" he said. No Joke, he actually said that to me! I am hoping that through this experience of asking for help, when this is said and done, that I can share with him the true gift of people giving and he and I will donate to others once we are back up on our feet.

I do wish there was a better way for you all to understand that this is a legitimate need, a financial emergency. My monthly bills are adding up to about $1400.00 which they are usually not that high but I owe some for last months bills too. If some of you reading this could donate any amount small or large, $1 goes a long way right now, I will truly appreciate it. I am making a donation goal of $2,000.00 which with luck and a prayer we will see half of that by Christmas time. $1,400 of it is for bills and most the rest is for Roy's Christmas and I have been sleeping on a broken bed for 6 years now so 200-300 of it will go to a new bed, but that's only if we make the total goal.

Just to get it straight, I am not looking for a handout, just a helping hand of strangers in a time of need when I had to learn to swallow my pride. Your charitable gifts are appreciated and will help us get back up on our feet. If you would like to pay on a bill online instead of donating money please contact me. If you feel inclined to, you can specify what you would like the funds to go towards, i.e. "please put these funds towards Roy's Christmas" or "put this money towards your gas bill" and I will accommodate. thank you for your consideration

If you feel as though my family's cause is worthy but you have nothing to give please spread the word to friends and family that may be able to help us in our time of need. Feel free to make any comments also, I will reply and I will add updates. If you have any questions for me please ask. thank you, we love you

Please Help Give My Son A Better Christmas & Pay The Bills

Posted by payinitforward on 2011-12-14 09:58:50

7,000 in debt and in Fibromyalgia Hell

Posted by kathy44ny on 2011-12-08 15:58:03

Before fibromyalgia turned my life inside out and upside down I had a life, was an educator, aspiring songwriter and with goals of being an entrepreneur. Now every little thing causes my pain to hurt and crash and what I have is $7,000 in debt and disability payments that are enough to cover the basics, but not get rid of this debt that came in part to supplement public assistance as I waited to get my disability. I hope you can find it in your heart to help me get at least my peace of mind back, even if I can't get back the life I had, by helping me erase this debt. When sending donations, please put in the note, gift. Thank you.

Help me to fly and start my own business please!

Posted by Ukenage on 2011-11-23 16:58:35

Please help me realize my dream of flying and starting my own business. I am seeking donations to purchase a powered parachute. I will be honest. The powered parachute will be used for recreation and to start my business of low altitude aireal photoghaphy for the many farmsteads in Kansas. I plan to purchase a single seat model. The business will supplement my income as I am a single father with three children.
I plan to purchase a used powered parachute for around 8000 to 10000 dollars.
Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You for helping realize my dream.

Logan's Heros

Posted by cori00125 on 2011-09-17 17:58:47

I am a 32 year old working mom of three beautiful children and I have the most wonderful husband anyone could ask for. We have the perfect mid-west life. We both work full time (and enjoy what we do), have a nice home, we're able to afford some luxuries in life although in moderation, that is enough for me. I enjoy cooking, and entertaining in my time off from work, and spending family time with my kids, parents, and neighbors. My children are Jordon (age 13), Logan (age 10), and Brianna (age 9). The kids are active in sports, and in our small community we are well known, and frequently can be seen volunteering at community events, church, and our local high school, of which we are both alumni. I live less than two miles from the home I grew up in. Sounds perfect if you ask me.

On February 18th, 2011 our son Logan (age 10) was diagnosed with a large brain tumor. He was not having many symptoms only occasional headaches. I was concerned that he may have been developing migraines and so I took him to see our family physician. His physical exam was normal including a rather thorough neurological exam. Dr. Arntz agreed with my initial thought and prescribed him some migraine medication. What a relief! He asked us to get a CT scan of Logan's head only as a precaution and he even stated that he didn't think there was any real concern, just a precaution. 5 days later, we were heading to the University of Michigan; Mott's childrens hospital because his precautionary CT scan had confirmed the worst for us. A 6 cm brain tumor in the posterior fossa of Logan's brain. Causing the cerebral spinal fluid to back up and create pressure in his head (hence the headaches).

Before leaving the house for the hospital we gave Logan a brief description of the problem, and explained to him that we didn't know what was going to happen next but we were going to the hospital to find out. You could see the worry on him but he was tough, shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well, I guess I better call it something, I think I'll name it Steve." So off we went, notifying family on the way to the hospital, and completely sick to my stomach.

Three days later we would embark on the scariest days of my life. Logan was promptly scheduled for surgery the following Monday and we were told there was a high probability that the tumor was cancerous. Dr. Cormac Maher performed 14 hours of brain surgery on Logan on Monday February 21st, and confirmed our fears that Logan indeed had a cancerous brain tumor called medulloblastoma. Then more bad news the post operative MRI showed that they had been able to remove all of the tumor and Logan would need more surgery. The next day he underwent another 6 hours of brain surgery. We caught it early but based on where the tumor sat he may not be able to talk or walk normally for 3-6 months. Lucky for us he talks and walks very well all things considered. But there has been radiation therapy and chemo therapy will continue until February or March of next year. There is a 75-80% chance of survivability, I feel blessed with those odds.

Logan is doing very well but this situation has put an incredible financial burden on us. I am falling behind on bills and need help. Andy is working constantly and I even started a second job on the weekends to try to help supplement the lost income from prescriptions, gas to and from the hospital, and just having to take time off work for appointments and Logan's sick days... I don't know what else to do. The banks have tried thankfully to work with us but our circumstance is not going to change for quite awhile longer. Our family's do not have a lot of money, and have already tried to help so much that I think it may be putting a strain on them as well. The church sends gas cards occasionally but there is just not enough to keep us going for the next year.

Here' s the kicker, Logan started his own Relay for Life team. I had taken him to a local expo about 3 weeks after he had been discharged from the hospital because I thought it would be good exercise for him to walk around and there would be lot's to look at, and there was a booth for the American Cancer Society. He walked up to the lady at the booth and he said " How old do you have to be to have a team?" She signed him up on the spot. Logan Bailey's Super Survivors have raised $8300.00 for the American Cancer Society! He's only a little more than $1600.00 away from his goal of raising $10000.00 for the Relay for Life. We've held auctions, bake sales, and concerts. It's been a wonderful distraction for him and he is super excited about reaching that fund-raising goal. We have asked our friends to contribute to his goals in lieu of giving us personal financial assistance. It's more important to me that his endeavors to do more for others, are successful.

We cannot change Logan's circumstance. He will always be a brain cancer survivor, and I will forever be a medullo-mom. But, if we can make this even minutely easier for others having to face it after us then we will do it. Logan donated "Steve the brain tumor" to medical research and he volunteered to participate in a medical research trial for his treatments. We hope that the money raised for the American Cancer Society will make a difference in research and support for anyone suffering with a cancer diagnosis. We hope that the research will make the work of wonderful, selfless, people like Dr. Maher and his team easier and more successful. If I had been diagnosed with this same type of cancer at the age of ten it would have been a terminal diagnosis... the research is working!!

I need help, I need financial help for my family so that we can stop the worrying over finances and concentrate on bringing our entire family through this successfully looking at it in a positive light and remembering that we did it with hearts full of love and with others in mind. Logan is a truly remarkable child and I am so proud of him. I anxiously await your response Thank you for your consideration.

Designer Needs Help - Hardware Down, Can not Work

Posted by Ninety3 on 2011-09-13 13:58:42

First, thank you for your time.
So here is my beg;
Currently I care for an elderly family member and supplement my income through Graphic & Web Design, as well as repairing computers for others.
As I have recently had several hardware meltdowns, I am not able to complete & honor current obligations, nor generate the income needed to replace needed hardware and/or complete repairs, or contract new projects.
I have no use for greed, and thus am not looking to get rich. Just looking to gain enough to replace and/or fix what I need.

Any amount can help, it all adds up. And thank you so much.

Embarrassed to even do this..

I'll try to keep this as short as possible. I'm a college educated 30 year old female. I work full time, but took a substantial pay cut to keep my job. I'm looking desperately for a 2nd job to supplement my income, because the money is going out much faster than it's coming in, and I know eventually the bottom will fall out from under me if I don't do something.

Like so many of us, I don't know what to do. I don't have family I can ask for help, in fact, I've always been the one to help them out when they need it. This is such a helpless feeling - I hate feeling this way. It's taken a toll on my pride.

This month, after I pay the rent and my car insurance, I will have $60 to live on for the rest of the month. I don't know how I'll do it. I know there are lots of people out there in my same situation, but I'm asking whoever will listen to please help a fellow human being in their time of need. I would certainly do the same, and have in the past when I was able to.

If you're unable to help, the only thing I ask is that if you believe in a God, pray, and if not, keep me in your thoughts as I struggle through this time. I know I'll get through it, like I have always done, but it's hard not knowing what the future holds.

PLEASE HELP - TOWNS NEW WATER RATES ARE DROWNING US

In order to “live the American Dream” my husband and I moved 600 miles from our home town. We were actually doing ok, until now. My husband hasn’t seen a pay raise in the past 5 years and no raises are planned for the future. Three years ago he picked up a second job to supplement our income since we were coming up short. I also work full-time but with three children and no family nearby a second job is out of the question for me. Then the ultimate bomb hit. The town we live in decided that we needed an increase in our water rates to pay for a new treatment facility. The increase is over 300 %. No I am not exaggerating. Look at the Town of New Windsor, MD website. The proof is in black & white. We now can no longer pay our bills. Our first quarterly bill is estimated at over $600.00. I need financial help and I need it desperately. The only way out of this is to either move (and real estate is not selling) or better myself finish my nursing degree and get a better paying job. I ANY help from you would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your kind generosity.
