Would love help getting to 2012 Olympic games to watch my son

Posted by judomom on 2012-05-03 19:58:40

I wouldn’t normally do this but I so want to go see me son compete in the 2012 London Olympics in the sport of Judo. My son will be given tickets to his event for us watch him compete. But neither his sister, my mother nor I have the money for airfare and hotel. I live on a very small pension and SSDI, which isn’t very much. I live with my mom helping here out since my dad passed away last year and she as well does not have much money either. I have no credit cards and had to file bankruptcy due to the lack of unable to work because of me disabilities and the state finally put me on SSDI and that isn’t that much. My son has been doing judo since he was 7yr old. When he took his 1st Junior National Championship at the age of 8 in Hilo, he came off the plane and told me we was going to go to the Olympic. He never lost that goal. He is now going for the 2nd time around. . Back in 2004 due to layoff and my job being outsourced I ended taking a earlier retirement. My son headed off to college with a partial scholarship in judo. I helped support him in rent, phones, car, insurance, as well as airfare to travel to many international tournaments to help him qualify for a spot on the 2008 Olympic team. I even went back to work using almost all of my funds including my saving and 401k’etc just to get him to the level that he needed to be at and because of that I was unable to go to China in 2008 when he went to his 1st Olympic games because I spent it all getting him there. Then in 2009 I got laid off because the job was being outsource but when I tired finding work I was unable to and the state finally tested me and told me because of my disability that I could no longer work and then put me on SSDI. So if your willing to help that would be a blessing but if you not I understand.

I posted this "beg" shortly after New Years, and have posted under rent yesterday as well as I have found out I will lose our home if I don't pay asap. I am new to this and believe me, far from lazy, just very ill. I would happily repay anyone once I get my ssdi awarded or work off anything on my "good days" when I can move around. I was amazed when I got an email that a woman donated to me, and for that, I am forever grateful. I am just praying more people see this and find it in their hearts to help if they are able to. I just copied the original one and its as follows:

Some background:

I am a mother of three wonderful children. I was married to their father for ten years, unfortunately. as with too many these days, it did not work out. I do not regret our marriage, for it gave me three wonderful children who are all almost grown now. 21, 19, 16. When we were married, we both decided it best for me to stay home with the children and raise them within our family, although this is pretty rare these days. Once we divoced though, I could only find manual type (cashier, inventory, stock, etc) work as I was married straight out of high school and did not try to go back to work until they were all in school. I did not mind working sometimes three different jobs in order to have full time hours yet work around the kids school schedule, son's physical therapy and the usual "Mom" stuff. People kept saying go back to school, but I could not figure out how to work three jobs, be the full time mom and dad and add school. Unfortunately five years ago I started feeling ill, like the flu that never went away. I kept working through it, with my kids being older as much as I knew I needed to be there, I knew I needed to pay the rent/bills too, so I started working split shifts at the grocery store. I'd go in at 6 am until 2pm, come home, be here for after school and dinner, then rush back at six and work until 11 pm. All the while I was getting sicker. I was hospitalized three times during this period. Unfortunately no one seems to want to agree with whats wrong with me, I have heard several diagnosis over the years, but RA is the one and only proven ailment, although they feel I have an overlapping autoimmune disease. I have no insurance right now, and hoping to get the state insurance soon, but I have a feeling treatment is a long ways away.

I did not want to go the ssdi route until I had no other choice. Too bad that's not how the system works. I, for the last three years have been dealing with such pain and illness, a "real job" became out of the question, so I'd work here and there, whenever I could get work and be able to do it, as some days are a little better than others. Believe me, nothing is below me, I'm happy to scrub toilets, clean dog poo, I will do anything legal to make it, most days now though I feel so bad I can't do much .Well, I have finally reached that "I can't do stage", just yesterday my daughter had to get me out of bed as I could not move. Problem is, SSDI takes up to two years to get, which I didn't realize, so now due to my inane pride, I am absolutely stuck. I just know if I can get on top of the important bills, I will be able to continue as I have (fingers crossed) until the SSDI is accepted, which I did finally file for.

More important than anything else, I need to get some food in the house for my son. I truly don't care if I eat, as long as its enough to survive, which believe it or not is very little. However, I want my growing son to be able to eat when he's hungry and have good healthy choices along with the occasional treat. My 19 year old is very self sufficient and has moved into her own apartment and after taking college courses all through high school is on the right track. My 21 year old moved out when she graduated high school and she too finished college and is self sufficient. (she has now moved back in with her daughter) That's why I only mentioned my son. I have plenty of clothes I can donate as he grew so fast, many very nice, and also more than willing to repay any amount, just can't promise when.

Please, any help at all, anything, is greatly appreciated. Food is first and there is a very cheap store nearby where I can grocery shop. Bills are secondary right now, so believe me, every bit helps. Thanks for reading my story and giving your time and any help you may be able to handle.

please help us, if I don't pay rent, nowhere else to go

Posted by needhelpsoon on 2012-01-13 17:58:20

I had posted first time ever a few weeks ago about my situation, my being ill and unable to work. A wonderful woman actually responded and donated 5$, which I was amazed, as I've never seen anything like this before. My main concern was feeding my son. Unfortunately, I got a letter from landlord saying if I can't pay rent on time (11 days past due now) he will have to sell the house. I thought food money was asking for a lot. My rent is $1050, 1180 with late fees. My son, daughter and grandaughter all live here with myself, so all relying on me.

I have finally filed for food stamps, and medical and SSDI and awaiting approval, to get back on feet, in the meantime, if we lose our home, there is no place to go. No family, definitely no money for first last and security to move.

Please, please, I beg of you, of anyone out there. Any and every bit helps and adds up. Even if I give him something, its better than nothing and he is a kind patient man who has worked with me through my illness.

I know now that I got the ball rolling with benefits, I will be able to sustain the family, just can't lose the home. I have been searching high and low for work to sustain us while awaiting approval. I always used to work 60-70 hours a week and hate not working. I have the pain under enough control to work here and there and willing to do anything at all legal. I'd scrub a toilet with a smile on my face just because I'd know I'd be working and sustaining us until everything is approved.

Please, please, any help at all is greatly appreciated, please help us save our home.

Surgery Correction

Posted by rosed1x on 2012-01-09 23:58:50

I was born with an endocrine disorder. At puberty my symptoms started to appear. 14 years ago I underwent surgery to correct a breast deformity. Unfortunately my right side was left scarred and with the need of more surgery. I have never had enough money to go back for correction. I'm self conscious about it and hide it, but I'd like to go swimming and have never been able to because it's noticeable. I know there are other causes to donate to, but that's why I placed this under unusual requests. I don't have any relatives and my medical conditions have me on SSDI. Can you help? Even if it's a nickel at a time?

Money for Food

Posted by rosed1x on 2012-01-05 00:58:46

I need money for food. I know most people would say I should go to a food bank or get food stamps. I already do get food stamps. I qualify for $14 a month. And I have tried to go to food banks, but because I have medical issues, especially food sensitivities like gluten intolerance and insulin resistance, I cannot eat processed food, like canned or even rice or bread. I am caseine intolerant too, so I can't have cows milk/or powdered milk. I can drink almond milk. Sometimes I starve waiting for my next SSDI check. I'm a simple eater, like mostly just one ingredient foods, but the problem is being able to afford them.

Disabled over 3 years seeking help with housing and transportation

Posted by CyberNeedy on 2011-12-27 01:58:03

Thank you for even reading this because if you have then you are seeking to help people in need and you must have a wonderful heart. I have in recent years reached out to orphaned children in both Uganda and Mexico who needed me so I have no problems with asking for some help myself at this time.

After 3 years of back and forth with Social Security, I finally was approved for federal disability. Thankfully, I can move forward with testing and treatments to figure out what is causing the multiple symptoms disabling me. My sole desire is to get well enough to return to work in at least some capacity. Now I have some savings from back disability owed but not quite enough to finally purchase my own home. I am looking to purchase a modest home that is manageable for me in my condition. One that is safe and secure for me and my toy poodle who deserves something nice. Although I have enough for a decent down payment, my credit has suffered due to my inability to work. My medical bills went straight to my credit report as being unpaid while I waited for SSDI approval and Medicare approval. My credit score is below 600 and I cannot get a loan. I have $20,000 I can put toward my very first home ever. My goal is to get my $20,000 matched in order for me to purchase a small home/condo for approximately $40,000. My income is $955/mo and I still need to find suitable transportation also. My last vehicle was basically stolen by a predatory towing service and I was incapacitated at the time due to my disability and later was unable to afford retrieving the vehicle because of outrageous storage fees. Currently family members are taking me everywhere which can sometimes be more difficult than helpful. I A modest reliable vehicle is what I need. My individual goal is to become self sufficient and self reliant once again...get healthy and go back to work. Any help with the above items would be much appreciated. If I were in a better position I believe I too would be searching to help those in similar situations as mine.

My world is crashing

Posted by Elmer on 2011-11-07 22:58:23

This is real and I don't know what to do. I had a tumor removed from my head this year and it turned out to be cancer. I have not been able to work regular any longer and I have to go in for a stem cell transplant in December and will not be able to work for several months while I recoup. My wife is on disability and it is horrible. Waiting on ssdi and they will not say if I will get help. I am about to hit the foreclosure point on my house. I know other people have it worse than me but I am desperate.

Homeless needs help.

Posted by twilhelmsatx on 2011-11-01 21:58:17

I know this isn't going to make sense, but I am a technically homeless person staying at a shelter for homeless men in san antonio, texas. I am trying to get ssdi. I am able to stay here because the director here is convinced I will get my ssdi and will pay him my back rent. However he is also convinced I will have my hearing before December 2010. I need help with my renet - $300/mth. Otherwise I will be on the street.

This is the organizations website - http://www.beatthestreetstexas.com/. This is where I am staying. I am using a house computer, I am selling my laptop to another housemate to raise a little money. It's the LAST SELLABLE item I had. I don't even have a fork or chair or anything. I know you read a lot of these articles begging for help, but I am speaking the truth. I have begged for help here in San Antonio and got one month's rent paid one time.

PLEASE, PLEASE Help. This is the response I send to the spammers:

Hello,

Thank you for spamming me. Here is my current situation:

1) I am a technically homeless person living in transitional housing. I owe, as of this writing, them $4700.
2) I have NO INCOME of any kind.
3) I have no bank accounts.
4) I have no credit cards.
5) I have one debit card with $0.24 ( Twenty-Four CENTS) on it.

What kind of help can I count on FROM YOU?

Thank You,
Terry Wilhelm

Again - What kind of help can I count on FROM YOU?
PS - I will testify in any court in the United States of America, under oath, that the above is my current situation.

losing hope

Posted by greg101 on 2011-10-13 13:58:51

two years ago I became disabled from blood clotting through my legs and lungs, also fighting bouts of Migrains. My state disablity has run out and I have no other insurance or means of income. I have no car or job. I am living with a friend who is supporting but is getting very tired of me and I don't want to drag this on. I've tried to sign up for SSDI, but I was denied. I need some income to pay for doctor visits, and medications, my other medical problems are a long list but I have had to go without meds for a few months. Any help is appreciated, thx for reading this far.
I am a recently single mom of 4 intelligent children. Their school is 40 miles away from home with no bus transportation available. Each day it costs me roughly $15 in gas. I am currently out on disability for degenerative disc disease of the back and neck and also Bipolar Disorder. My children's education is the most important thing to me. They attend a five star magnet school and are all AB Honor Roll students. I am supporting a family of 5 on $871 which is my disability check and $451 from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Everywhere I apply for help, I get doors slammed in my face because I do receive my SSDI benefits. If I were a lazy person who had never worked a day in my life, I would be doing much better off. I would be getting housing assistance and aide in trying to collect child support from my children's sperm donor. (I cannot consider him a father, because fathers take care of their children.) I do not have any close family who can help me, so I have to rely on the kindness of strangers and friends at school. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping that between donations and selling plasma, that I may be able to make ends meet this month.

Need money to get to Aberdeen, WA from Kingsport, TN

Posted by cpalme5 on 2011-06-28 06:58:37

This is my first time placing an ad such as this.I am trying to get a bus ticket and some travel money for a trip to Aberdeen, WA.

I am going out there for a job. I am a 37-year old married college student that has been unemployed for about 3 years.

My wife and I are pretty poor and we are having a very difficult time getting by without my having a source of income. We survive off of the SSI and SSDI money she gets every month which isn't a lot even living in this area.

I am tired of sitting at home dreaming about working again someday while we struggle with food and the bills every month.

I have sold off everything that I have of value to help my wife and stepson buy food, gas etc, even the computers that I paid for with student loans. Computers that I needed to complete my online courses. Now I have nothing but bills and debt to show for my life.

I don't graduate from college until October 2013. Which is still a good ways off. I can't wait another two or three years to go back to work, and the liklihood of me finding a job in this economically deppressed area is slim to none.

I have tried everything I can think of to find work locally and nothing has worked out. So I need to relocate and settle someplace where there is going to be long-term opportunities for me and my family.

I just need money for a greyhound ticket and some money to travel with. The ticket I believe is like $244 or 258.00, and it is a 3-day trip from here. So, I guess I would need about $100-150.00 to travel with for food and for a ride to the house where I am going to be staying until I can secure an apartment for my family and I in the area.

I will be grateful for whatever someone decides to donate to me. I thank you all for taking the time to read my ad. May God bless you!

Waiting for Approval

Posted by zahnprod on 2011-06-18 09:58:15

I have been disabled for the last 6 months and have already applied for Public Assistance and SSDI, but still waiting for approval from the various agencies. My resources are completely exhausted and it will be at least another 30 days before I receive any Cash Assistance or disability payments. Rent, utilities, phone are all in arrears and I'm lucky I still have a patient landlord and they haven't shut off the power and phone(yet). Luckily, I am receiving Food Stamps, so I'm not starving.

I need a few dollars to make it until the Wait for Approval is over at SSA.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
