Fatherly Dreams For My Little Heart Patient As We Lose Our Home
Posted by GregHasHope on 2012-05-24 03:58:19
My daughter had heart surgery last year and I want to treat her to a sport that will teach her competitiveness, help her self esteem, allow her to have fun, and exercise her heart. Her surgery happened while I was in school and was very sick myself with Crohns disease a year ago. We were so bad off, I had to borrow money for gas to get her to the hospital. It was quite a humbling and intensely challenging past 2 years for her and I. Her surgery was successful. I have finished school and will be starting my new Job as an EMT June 11! I am also currently in new recruit training for a volunteer firefighter/ EMT position which will give me valuable experience for a paid position some day. It will also give me the opportunity to serve others. I personally love to help others and have done a LOT in the past when I could. I doubt this will be seen, but, A dad can have his dreams.
I am losing my home and have had my gas cut off. I was too ill to work for over a year. Quite honestly, I am losing it all. We have each other (My daughter and I) and improving health. During the process of losing her home, I want to have her my daughter pre-occupied with good thoughts. I want her to see that life will go on. She loves playing tennis, but I am financially unable at the time to help her pursue the sport. I would like to do it with her to build the father daughter bond and help myself get in shape to volunteer for my fire department.
Below is a link to a wish list of items we need. Were not asking for exacts. It's just what we picked out that we saw online. http://amzn.com/w/W4M5DEBQ0C1N . We would appreciate any help. Prayers are welcome as well!

Would love help getting to 2012 Olympic games to watch my son
Posted by judomom on 2012-05-03 19:58:40
I wouldnât normally do this but I so want to go see me son compete in the 2012 London Olympics in the sport of Judo. My son will be given tickets to his event for us watch him compete. But neither his sister, my mother nor I have the money for airfare and hotel. I live on a very small pension and SSDI, which isnât very much. I live with my mom helping here out since my dad passed away last year and she as well does not have much money either. I have no credit cards and had to file bankruptcy due to the lack of unable to work because of me disabilities and the state finally put me on SSDI and that isnât that much. My son has been doing judo since he was 7yr old. When he took his 1st Junior National Championship at the age of 8 in Hilo, he came off the plane and told me we was going to go to the Olympic. He never lost that goal. He is now going for the 2nd time around. . Back in 2004 due to layoff and my job being outsourced I ended taking a earlier retirement. My son headed off to college with a partial scholarship in judo. I helped support him in rent, phones, car, insurance, as well as airfare to travel to many international tournaments to help him qualify for a spot on the 2008 Olympic team. I even went back to work using almost all of my funds including my saving and 401kâetc just to get him to the level that he needed to be at and because of that I was unable to go to China in 2008 when he went to his 1st Olympic games because I spent it all getting him there. Then in 2009 I got laid off because the job was being outsource but when I tired finding work I was unable to and the state finally tested me and told me because of my disability that I could no longer work and then put me on SSDI. So if your willing to help that would be a blessing but if you not I understand.
help me fulfill my dream and ride the waves

This is why I'm posting here:
I am 25 and for my entire life, I have been fat. I don't mean this as in, a little on the chubby side; but obese. I can remember being in 5th grade, when our class had to get weighed and measured at the nurses office. The sinking feeling in my gut that came up when I weighed almost 200 lbs at the age of 10 is something that I don't think I will entirely forget.
Because of my horrible diet as a child (McDonalds, soda, you name it), I have spent my entire young life coping with being overweight and all of the horrible things that go with it: wondering if I'll fit in a seatbelt, wondering if I would break a friends bed or chair if I sat on it, or never being able to find a cute outfit to wear like all the other girls. When I was about 14, I was diagnosed with PCOS, which is cysts on my ovaries (contributing to my obesity, or as a result of, but they worked in tandem to make my life miserable). Without health insurance, I was never able to get this issue resolved, and with my poor diet, my weight increased. PCOS symptoms also include abnormal facial and body hair, which was (and to a degree still is) the bane of mine and any woman's existence. A woman should never have to feel so ashamed of her own body, and yet that is exactly how I've felt for as long as I've realized that I was different, and that looks mattered.
My highest weight as of 4 months ago topped out at 324 (thought I had reached 340 a year earlier but had lost some weight over a long period of time). Recently I began taking HCG (a hormone that helps regulate fertility and also helps with weight loss), and am amazed to report that for the first time in my adult life, I am 270 lbs. While this still is a lot, for me it is an incredible number to be at. Never in my life have I felt the fear of dying at 30 begin to be lifted, though I still have a long way to go.
So the point of my request: there are a lot of dreams I have that I feel like I am within reach of grasping. Some of them have already been fulfilled: I have been able to travel with my family, and this past year my parents helped me to finance a jeep. This is a huge one...I live on the west coast and have always wanted to live a surfer/beach lifestyle.
But how could a fat girl ever be a surfer? It's been my dream for the past 10 summers to learn to surf, with beaches only 15 minutes away. But every year, the fear stopped me, my weight stopped me, my inability stopped me.
I want this year to be the last year fear gets in the way.
With my weight going down, I've been trying to exercise. I've been attempting a modified version of P90X, and have been eating healthy and avoiding all the foods that got me where I am today. The problem is that financially, while I do work full time, I barely make enough to cover my bills (gas, car insurance, car payment, cell phone), and am not even able to help my hard working parents pay rent. So money for extras this summer is not really possible, but I CAN'T let another year go by without accomplishing this task.
I want to attend a surf camp this summer in San Diego, called Surf Divas. The problem? Surf lessons are expensive. I think to get me on the right path, I'd need at least 10 hours of lessons. At $82 an hour, thats $820.
The reason I want to fulfill this dream is to prove to myself and others that no matter where you've been, or how far your body is from being in shape, that the human body is remarkably capable of change. I would want to encourage anyone who doesn't think they are the right "type" to surf or do a sport that they can push their bodies to do things they never thought possible. And I sincerely believe that learning to surf will help me pursue my health and fitness goals long term, as well as truly set free the earth-and-sea-loving hippie that I keep snug and close to my soul. I live for summer and the ocean...and being able to ride a way would be life changing for me.
If anyone is able to donate or help support me in taking charge of my health and fitness...there would be no adequate way to thank you. I will send you a picture of me riding my very first wave as a token of gratitude, with a friendship bracelet made by me with a few shells from the beach strung on it. My way to say thank you for helping me to live a healthy life.
I'm a giver who rarely gets, but if you could change that, I would be most grateful.

Dear all,
Thank you for showing your interest and reading my story.
The saying about foolish middle age women is not a myth. Iâm one of them. My name is Pat.
To make a long story short; my partner I met when I was 41, succeeded in 2 years to gain total control over me, my life and everything I ever worked for. He did it so cleverly and smoothly that I didnât even noticed when I had simply nothing, no one and nowhere to go.
When he had me in his hand, he turned from a gentle, clever, kind and loving man into a tyrant, abuser, dipsomaniac and sadist. When my paralysis and apathy got to big I obviously was no sport anymore. One day he took whatever suited him (mine, his or gained together) and left me with piles of unpaid bills, debts taken in my name I didnât know of and far too high rent for one person to carry.
But Iâm a fighter! Iâm a survivor. I decided that Iâm blessed to be alive and will honour it with doing my best or even more to straighten up my life.
I have been struggling night and day since he left and I have succeeded to secure my electricity, heating and water supply. At Christmas eve I was thanking in prayers that I could afford a little food. I welcomed New Yearâs toasting with myself with a small soda (pure luxuryâ¦). I started to see the light in the tunnel, gaining back my self-esteem and seeing that everything will be solved.
Until this morning.
My landlord (a big company, impersonal and no one to talk to) have informed me that there is a 3 monthsâ rent debt he was obliged to pay but never did and also he took out a deposition of 3 months that entitles to live in the flat.
If I donât pay it ASAP Iâm out in the streets. And I will be. He has misused my credits so Iâm marked in all the systems; no loans, no flats, no telephone, no credits, not even a Visa, nothing.
Please, help me. I have no one to turn to. No family and what friends would be left after all the dramas, his manipulations and deceits and my absence? I refuse to give up but honestly â I donât know how long I will have the strength.
Anything will be of help. Anything since I have nothing. I beg you. And you know â see it as an investment; Can this be solved I canât see anything that canât, and then It will be my turn to pass the generosity and helpfulness to the next needing person. And I will! To do that though â I have to survive.
Thank you for reading my story. If you canât help â do at least learn something from it. Donât repeat my mistakes.
God bless you all!/Pat

help me get people swimming
Posted by psquire on 2012-01-24 10:58:16
Hello one and all,
As some of you may know and for those that dont i am completely passionate about swimming...in any water at any time any where and with as many people as i can, and i am equally passionate about encouraging others to do the same. I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching each and every person that i have come across that has asked for it (and some that haven't), whether that is for an event, a race, fitness, mental health what ever the reason, i have endeavored to create a safe environment were all feel safe, achieve, surpass that achievement and go on to develop a deep passion for swimming. I have met some incredible people along the way, who's reasons for wanting to enter or re-enter the water have left me breathless at times.
I would now like to turn that passion into something more, the group is expanding which i am overjoyed with, people are progressing, requests are coming in for me to help more and more people and each and everyone of them will get my undivided attention.
But i want to turn my passion into a qualification and therefore what to formalise what i am doing and 'be qualified' so we can get more and more people into the open water, the pool and into swimming in general. I also wish to apply for funding to the group so we can get training aids, wetsuits etc so the cost of starting in open water or any other type of swimming is not so great for people, i have been informed that if i am qualified and formalise the group we can apply and will certainly get funding for equipment. I want to make it a truly inclusive hobby or sport for people of all ages, abilities and disciplines. This last year has shown me how passionate i am about helping people reach their goals and i want to continue to do so.
But right now i need your help, as some of you know, i got made redundant (believe me i was not pleased about it) and money is not the easiest thing for me to find, swim courses are not held on a roll on roll off basis, there is a course coming up in March, but applications have to be in by the 6th of Feb, so essentially i have until the 5th to raise the money. My plan for the immediate and long term future is to get myself qualified then to raise money through sponsorship and any other means i can to get others qualified so that each an every one of us that wants to can get not only a qualification but a career in swimming, so we can keep the bug that is inside all of us alive and kicking. I also plan to extend this to other groups so they can be formalised and each of us do the same in our respective locations. There are no formal qualifications other than triathlon ones to teach open water swimming...as a trainer i will be looking to write a course for others to qualify in, we all work hard at our hobby, but i feel we could really expand what we do and really open it up to the masses. You know how passionate i am but also how proud so i do not ask lightly, your generosity would be appreciated, even if its just a penny...look down the back of the sofa....!!! I know times are hard for one and all so that is why i will understand if you can not help..if you can you know it will be money not wasted. For each an every one of that gets qualified a new swim adventure starts, we will be a team and who knows in the future we might be recognised for the impact we have on swimming and those who want to swim! How do you donate....via paypal as i think that is the safest way!!! If you can think of any other way i can raise the money ......let me know!!
My paypal address is pauline_squire@sky.com
Anything no matter how large or small would be eternally grateful. It goes without saying, my progress, the swims, the fun the laughter and the future will all be blogged about ...so there will be plenty for you to read about too xxxx

We are taking donations so all children regardless of income are able to play in a sports league especially those who cannot afford to do so. We began this charity when our own 3 kids each wanted to play a different sport and we just couldn't afford it. The disappointment they experienced when i told them that was heartbreaking...but in this economy not too abnormal! We want every child out there the chance to be part of a sports family! Please help and donate anything at all even if it's one dollar!=) Thank you for your help in achieving this!
Help all kids be able to play sports

Posted by hillmanimpman on 2011-04-17 19:58:12
I want to recreate a british sport car that was never made because the company went bankrupt and recently the designer and owner of the original company sadly died Mr Jack turner the man who kickstarted the british sport car industry back in 1950s. the car itself is called a Turner Imp there were plans draw up and moulds made but it was never finished and the moulds destroyed in the 1970s. I would like to make two or even three of these cars which are based on a hillman imp and i plan donating one to a motor musceam as a memory of Jack Turner the others will be sold privately, but i don't have the funding for this project i need funding for a workshop and pay for three scrap hillman imps and put them throw a IVA test ,can you help????? please take a look at the link here of the original design http://www.imps4ever.info/specials/turner-imp/index.html and my recreation http://www.imps4ever.info/specials/jonathon-watts/index.html

Hi I am a 21 year old snowboarder and have dedicated my life to the sport for the last 10 years of my life. i live in a small tourist town in England although i am qualified in carpentry and shouldn't be struggling to make money, there isn't enough work in the town or the surrounding area for anyone to take me on (this only worsened with resection). as a result i have been forced to work for minimum wage around the town being a tourist town its not a cheap place to live but with out having any cash behind me I cannot build enough cash to move away and look for another job and flat. Alot of my friends are spending time out there currently and i no that if i could get to the Alps with enough money to keep my self for a couple of weeks that it would be enough to turn my life around due to the fact that work is plentiful out there and much better paid. Thank you for your time.

I was three years old when I began my educational career. My mother had petitioned for my acceptance into kindergarten because my birthday fell a week after the cut off date. The school accepted me though they were adamant because I was believed to be too young for kindergarten. I was sent home after my first week of school. "Mrs. Wilson, Jewel will not be able to continue kindergarten unless she is properly potty trained." My mother called me into her room. "Jewel, your teacher said you can't go back to school until you go to the potty." I never missed a day of class unless it was out of my control after that conversation.
My name is Jewel Smith and I am nineteen years old. I became one of five children after my mother's marriage. Now, I am the oldest of three in our household and my mother is a single parent. When asked, "What is your favorite activity? most children would respond with a sport, videogames, or TV show. My passion is learning. I enjoy all subjects from sciences to literary works.
My mother strives to give only the best of education for my siblings and me. She made it very clear that we had to work as a team in achieving this goal. I attended a private catholic all girl high school through scholarship and financial assistance. I knew my mother couldn't afford tuition for my siblings and me. During my high school career, I excelled in AP/honors courses, maintained a high GPA, and participated in numerous organizations. Many people in my neighborhood believed I wouldn't "survive" in my high school setting because for the first time I did not attend a school with students who were of my racial or economic class. However, I was able to push through adversity even when it threatened to take my mother's life away during my junior year of high school. My mother's lung collapsed and some doctors stated she almost didn't make it. During my high school career, I learned people could cultivate their differences and come together as one entity regardless of race, class, or gender. I was able to maintain over a 3.5 GPA during my senior year and built a strong support system with faculty, friends, mentors, and family members.
I currently attend DePauw University in Greencastle, IN as an incoming junior. I have a declared major in English Writing with a possible second major in Spanish. I maintain a "B" average. I was granted a large package with my school that covers my tuition and some room and board. Unfortunately, the left over balance is still too much for my mother and I to afford. I was informed that I must pay the left over balance of $6,700 as well as my incoming fall balance of $4,000 in order to continue my education at this institution.
I believe that everyone has a special gift that helps the world become a better place. At five years old I knew I wanted to serve others as much as I can. My ultimate goal is to give back to my home community as well as those who are less fortunate in the world through education. It is through this letter that I ask for your help. I want to continue my educational career through undergraduate and graduate studies. I ask that you partner with me so that I am able to make my dream a part of reality. Thank you in advance.
