Help Send my Daughter to College

Posted by loisryan on 2012-05-23 13:58:43

Update: I will need $2000 by July for a down payment. Then I pay the rest in installments. If I get at least the $2000 I can get the rest by make weekly and monthly payments.

My daughter is going to college in the fall to study veterinarian science. She will be attending SUNY Delhi. The cost for the tuition is approximately $20,000. After getting college loans and financial aid of $500 (unbelievable) we have to pay $6,000 out of pocket for the rest of the costs. We can't get any more loans because we are at our limit. Here is how you can help. I have published a book on amazon kindle. It is a fantasy novel geared for teens/young adults. This is the link: http://www.amazon.com/The-White-Knight-ebook/dp/B0055RYV62/ref=sr_1_6?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1336572831&sr=1-6 I am only selling it for $2.99. For every purchase, my daughter will be $1.00 closer to college.

If you do not have a kindle, you can read it for free here http://www.feedbooks.com/userbook/23318/the-white-knight

All I am asking is if you do read it, please make a small donation to my paypal account.

If you are unable to make any sort of donation, I understand. The economy is not the greatest. But if you read my book and write a review on the kindle site, it will help draw in other buyers.

Any help is appreciated. Even if this does not work, I can get the money out of my 401K. However, I am 46 years old and if I do this, I will not have much money in there to retire. This is something I should have started earlier in life. Therefore, I only have about 12,000 in there right now.

Hello, I am so uncomfortable doing this. I am a 42 year old woman with two wonderful toddler boys ages 3 and 2. My troubles started in 2010 during my pregnancy with my second child. I became very sick and the doctors were unable to find the cause. During the search for a cause I was diagnosed with Lymphoma, but the cause was finally identified when I gave birth two months prematurely. I will not go into graphic detail, but I came out of the hospital 7 weeks later, with shortbowel syndrome and other serious problems. My son thankfully was fine and is thriving. I worked for a government agency for 16 years, and suddenly found myself surviving on disability. I must add that my husband was not much of a help. We are currently seeking to get divorced after 5 years of marriage. Through my illnesess he has been verbally, emotionally and on occasion physically abusive. I prolonged the divorce due to my health conditions and he is a good father to our children. My, what I thought was an upstanding, husband lost his job in 2009 and has not worked since but some small jobs. Even though he has worked, he has barely contributed to supporting the family. I have managed to keep the family afloat by paying the critical bills. What I haven't been able to pay is:

*our monthly condo maintanence fee of $258.00 for the past 3 months.
*I have a $160.00 car insurance payment due on 6-10-12, this will keep my paid until 10-10-12.
*The divorce attorney is asking for a $2500.00 retainer.
*June health insurance of $555.00.
*The numerous unpaid medical expenses.

I make it happen with the rest of the things my boys and I need. In July of 2012 I will recieve Medicare, since I will then have been on disability for 2 years. I think that will make things somewhat easier on me. As a note, lymphoma is not being treated right now. Thank goodness the nodules have remained stable, though if there is any change I will probably have to start some sort of treatment.

Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Since almost dying in 2010, I have a renewed faith in God (though I have always been a believer). I know that God walks beside me and my children and the He watches over us. Prayers to all that are on this site, whether asking for help or giving it.

Run of Bad Luck

Hello world, my name is Paul and life has been a bit rough here of late for my whole family. I lost my job do to company cut backs a couple months back and we just cannot seem to get back on our feet. We did have money in savings and that got us by for a bit, I was denied unemployment and the appeals are still going. I try my damnedest to find replacement work with no luck.
I have had many interviews and am found over or under-qualified for the job. All that tells me is I should look into school, but I got to get some sort of job to be able to juggle that option.
Me and my 10 year old daughter just got settled into our place after living with family for a few months and I would really hate to see us right back where we were. With how things are going however that seems to be the outcome. With my savings gone, no work coming in, I was forced to sign up for government aide that truly isn't what one would think. The food stamps are indeed a god send but the money they have to help wont even pay my rent, let alone the rest of our bills.
I like to think that I am a proud man and this does nothing to help that, begging is not something you can manage proudly. I don't really know if this will amount to much but I cant say I tried everything until I have. So if you find yourself in a place to be able to help, I can say that we would be eternally grateful and that in the end all things come back around.

Thank you for your time

I am the 2%, or My Life as a Teen Mom

Since today is Mother’s Day, I wanted to share my journey thus far and what it’s meant to be a mother for me. My story is unique in that I’ve overcome various obstacles to gain what some may call normalcy. Now I’m facing a struggle in which I’m hoping to tap into the kindness of the internet in order to help me through this hurdle.

I was raised by a single parent and grew up in a town where most families were on some sort of government assistance and could barely make ends meet. I was always taught to value what I had and that hard work will always bear its fruits. My high school was filled with kids who didn’t care about getting an education. I was a introverted “nerd” who took Honors and AP classes and saw education as a way to get out of a town that didn’t have much opportunity for growth. While I valued my education, I was also bored to death, even in my “accelerated classes,” so I stupidly acted out and started to party as high school kids do. I ditched class to drink and dabbled a bit in drugs because there was nothing else to do. Even as I partied, I still managed to remain on the honor roll for all 4 years. Fast forward to the beginning of my senior year, our class had 250 kids and throughout the year approximately half of the student body dropped out at one point or another, giving up on their 14 year investment in their education. I made it to the end, but while everyone was excitedly responding to college acceptance letters, I had to throw all of mine out. Why? I was pregnant. I fully accept responsibility for my actions, but sex was not talked about in my household. I had no idea I had access to birth control or condoms and foolishly made a mistake that would change my life. I went to my prom and graduation 3 months pregnant without anyone knowing aside from my family.

The summer after graduation was spent brainstorming options and finding a job to help support my unborn child. I decided to keep the baby, thinking I would give it up for adoption. I was too immature to take care of myself, and now a baby? No way. As the months progressed, I fell in love with the baby and decided to keep her and raise her with the help of my family. I was excited but deep inside I was depressed. I really wanted to go off to college and live the life of a student living on campus, making new friends, staying up late to cram for midterms and possibly travel a bit. I couldn’t do that anymore and the thought of experiencing college in any other way didn’t entice me. I also knew if I didn’t get an education, I’d be stuck in a cycle of dead end jobs all my life. I knew I didn’t want to struggle like I’ve seen my family fight just to put a decent meal on the table and keep the lights from getting shut down.

I started college two months after my daughter was born. She was perfection and an incredible motivator. I’ve always thought that she deserves something better, beyond what I can give her but I decided to try my best to give her an amazing life. Since I just had a baby, I wanted to explore the opportunities I had outside of a traditional classroom in college. Luckily, the local community college offered online courses which only required me to be in class on the first day, at midterms and during finals week. I did this for a year and a half until I took every online course possible. Then it was time for full immersion into college. Here came daycare and having to balance college life with working and a small child.

My average day in college looked like this: we’d have to wake up at the crack of dawn so my daughter and I could ride a 45-minute bus to school. Unlike most of my classmates, I had to dash straight from work to class or go to work right after class so that I could pick up my daughter from school at a proper hour. I was very fortunate to land a job in a small office as an office assistant during college that would later prove invaluable. The pay was ok, but I was allowed to tailor my schedule to be compatible with my changing class load every semester. After our day was done came another bus ride. Once we got home, I’d have to make dinner, pack us lunch for the next day, prepare her backpack with extra clothes plus wash and prepare a day’s worth of bottles for my daughter. After I put my daughter to bed was the only time I had for homework. I’d stay up until about 2am every night doing my reading assignments or writing papers only to have to get up 3 ½ hours later to start my day again.

I did this every day for 5 ½ years.

Was it worth it? Heck yeah. I got my bachelor’s degree on my wall as proof. I am the first person in my family to ever get a degree. I have multiple relatives my age who ended up dropping out for various reasons yet I managed to graduate (with honors!) while juggling a small child and a demanding job. Aside from raising my daughter, this is what I’m most proud of thus far. I read online that less than 2% of teen moms attain a college degree before age 30. I’m stoked beyond words to be a part of that 2% (Source) I hope that this struggle and success will set an example to my daughter and show her that hard work does pay off.

After college, I worked a few jobs that I wasn’t too keen on. Too corporate, too stuffy, too bureaucratic to evoke any change and make an impact. I wanted to wake up every morning and feel inspired to go to work. I didn’t just want a paycheck, I wanted to engulf myself within organization so that I could kick ass and take names. I also wanted a 401(k), health benefits and life insurance so that my bases could be covered in old age. But mainly I wanted to wake up invigorated every morning and be able to pay my bills. After college, my daughter and I moved into our first home. I loved waking her up in her room filled with the girliest of things. I was a proud mama–on my own, college educated and living life as an independent woman.

Independent but unfulfilled. That is, until I was introduced to the CEO of my most recent employer. We hit it off immediately and within two week was offered the chance of a lifetime. I was invited to join his multimillion dollar company and close-knit team as his right hand. I’d learn all the in’s and out’s of running a business in a dynamic industry and receive a nice salary. After a bit of contemplation, I decided to resign from my stuffy job to join a company I was proud to be apart of. My job was great. It was flexible, nurturing, educational and insightful. In a few short weeks, I was in the trenches with my boss handling everything from sales to contracts to finance to HR. That is, until the company suddenly went out of business. I won’t get into the details but I was told I’d have a month before we were all let go. This was the job I wanted to settle in and dedicate years to, not just a job really but a mission to which I was dedicated.

I was laid off in March with no severance pay as the company had nothing. I had a small savings which I tapped into as I began searching for a job. I had to file for unemployment for the first time, which was hard as I’ve prided myself on not having to use government resources to pay my bills. I have almost a decade of solid work history and yet I’m struggling to find a job. Places are hiring but they’re scarce and don’t always offer pay that can support a family.

My bills are piling up and I have family and friends that are in no position to help me out. Unemployment can only pay so much and it isn’t enough to put a home-cooked meal on the table or keep everything paid. I’m in the process of starting up two businesses–one that peddles vintage finds and another that provides folks with stellar resumes to land their dream job so that I can increase my cash flow, but in the meantime, I’m asking for any donations to my cause. I’m willing to offer any services in return for a donation over $30 via paypal. There’s a button below where your transaction will be processed safely and gratefully!

Please pass this on and +1 it, favorite it, retweet it and share in any way possible! No action is too small or unappreciated.

Thank you so much for letting me share my story with you.

Please! save a mechanical engineer's future

To:The Concerned Person
From: Mr. Danish Hussain
Subject: Please! arrange the amount 1500 U.S. dollar for me as loan. I am mechanical engineer from Pakistan. I am having just 50 USD in my bank account and urgently need money.
Date: 13-05-2012

Respectfully Addressing,
The Concerned Person

Hi Sir, Please! arrange the amount 1500 U.S. dollar for me as loan so that I may hire a hitec detective (e.g. Mr. Jay @ detectives.com) who can collect all the required evidences of people harassing me & spoiling my life, for the police to action and rescue me from worst torture & immense losses of time & money.

Sir, This is Danish Hussain, mechanical engineer. Sir, I am listening voices in my home, office, library, on streets, with me all the time, 24hrs. A group of influential people are teasing me with words & statements. Am helpless. The teasers are teasing me with a super station sort device & this teasing from people goes with me whereever I go, wherever I am. They can listen me, see me and generate sound in my home, office, shop, streets everywhere, those sounds are recordable and am having videos of all that but police needs strong evidences who the teasers are, from where they are teasing me as no one in the video. Losses faced by this teasing are 8 jobs (as soon as I get job I lose it because the boss finds I am always lost, delivering no work just time passing in my probation), interviews (for the same reason), marriage proposals, no earnings for big durations. No improvement in living status whatever earned in 1 or 2 months get spent as I become jobless again. Next month, will be joining a Chinese firm. But before that, please help by arranging a loan for me else will be soon fired again. Please! arrange the amount 1500 U.S. dollar for me as loan so that I may hire a hitec detective (e.g. Mr. Jay @ detectives.com) who can collect all the required evidences of people harassing me & spoiling my life, for the police to action and rescue me from worst torture & immense losses of time & money. I am in Karachi, Pakistan.Thank you very much.

I look forward for your reply. Bye Bye. Take Care

Am waiting for your reply.
Tenderly.

Fairy Godmother Vacancy!!

Posted by Cgjlk21 on 2012-05-11 12:58:27

Until recently, our child was cared for by a family member while we went to work. It helped us out immensely and we are very grateful for what they have done for us. Now however, due to health reasons, they can no longer help us out. Unfortunately, we cannot afford either of us to be out of work, but we are finding it increasingly difficult to pay for childcare. It doesn't help that my new childcare provider has messed up and is billing us twice. This is of course being looked into, but until it is sorted we keep receiving payment reminders and it is adding to the pressure. I'm looking for an evening job or weekend work to help make ends meet, but again there is the issue of childcare. My husband works 60 + hours a week and has health issues himself, but can't have the time off work he needs to sort the issue as he is self employed, and we simply cant afford for him not to work. We spent some of our savings on renovating our home, but we're unlucky enough to employ a rather dishonest person to carry out the work, and so had to spend the remainder of our savings putting things right. The house still isn't completed, we desperately need a new boiler and a washing machine, but at the moment just cannot afford them. Our child starts school this year, so we only have to struggle for a few more months, but until then any help would be greatly appreciated. I have considered starting my own childcare business so I can work while caring for my own child, but that requires funding. I guess I'm just feeling a bit down at the minute, and in need of a fairy godmother!!

My partner has recently left me, several weeks after being made redundant from my work.

I am now responsible for paying the bills for this month, and with the cost of trying to sort things out with my partner I am short of money to cover utility bills etc.

Any donation will help me to get back on my feet and cover my outstanding bills

In need of serious help

Posted by ng0925 on 2012-05-10 13:58:55

I don't know how well this site actually works. I am in need of some serious help. Here's the abbreviated version...I am incredibly sick. My kidneys are on the verge of shutdown. I can not see a doctor or sepcialist due to no medical insurance and I can not afford to get any. I am currently working but I am simply not making enough to pay all my bills. I was out of work due to doctors ordered bed rest. I am behind in my rent and about to be evicted and my car has recently broken down and I have no way of getting to work. I am trying so hard to make all of this work all the while my health is getting worse (the doctor ordered dialysis three years ago which I have yet to begin due to being uninsured) and I am on the verge of losing everything. I have no family or anyone to help so I am completely alone. Any sort of help or a point in the right direction would be appreciated. It seems there are no programs for single women with no kids. I just need some help. I need to pay my rent which is totaling 890.00. Anything at this point would help me from getting evicted. Thanks so much.

PLEASE I am Desperate! I am really sorry for the short notice, but Im in sort of a jam. I really really need to get into this college, and the only problem is that although I am elligible for finaincial aid, but I need to pay my new student fee. By the first of May. Which is today. Sadly, I asked the financial aid office if they could use the grant money to pay the fee but they said no. The way I see it is this: If everyone I know would kindly donate a little, then I would be able to pay it. Please, I'll pay you guys back, could you donate using PayPal or something? I made a Fundrazr on facebook but no one has given me anything yet: http://fnd.us/c/aH5n8 via @FundRazr

Please help I have no other options

Posted by onmylastleg on 2012-04-26 17:58:23

I have been looking for a job for the past 2 months since I got laid off. My wife has been also, but it has been so hard for us because our car broke down back in January. I finally have found a job and finally was able to buy a bus pass. I will be starting on Monday, but I need help with this month's rent. Please help, I have a 16 month old daughter and I feel so hurt for what I have done to my family (not being able to provide for them the last couple of months). I have no other options and now that I have a job the worse thing that could happen is us not having a place to stay and my family losing all of our things. If any one could help I would be so grateful. I could even pay you back as well as provide some sort of collateral. I will even be back on this site once we are on our feet to help others out. Thank you for any help you can give at this time.

My wife and I are trying to have a child PLEASE HELP

Posted by linkinpark002002 on 2012-04-21 02:58:06

Hello,

My wife and I have been trying to have a child since we got married in 2005. It has been over seven years now and nothing. We have been to the doctors and tried to figure out what the problem is but no luck. The next step is to look into invitro, adoption, etc but we cannot afford any of the sort. So what we are asking for is donations to help us afford these things in order to live our dream of having a family. I don't care if all you can give is one cent, anything will do. PLEASE HELP!

New Roof Direly Needed Asap: Health & Safety Concerns

Posted by Rhiannon213 on 2012-04-20 08:58:45

When I purchased this home back in 2004 after finally getting away from an extremely abusive marriage, all I could see was that the price was right and that I would finally be safe - hundreds of miles away from my now ex-husband. As a single mother of 3 children on a limited income, I saw how I would be able to live completely mortgage and rent free. I didn't however see the major repairs that this house required - nor did I have the money to make such repairs. Over time, of course things got worse - and it brings me up to the point of where I am today.

The roof on this house is so badly deteriorated that it is leaking very badly in the downstairs bathroom, dining room, kitchen and front door areas. It has leaked so badly that now mold has started to form in the bathroom ceiling and the drywall has slowly been falling away on the one wall. The slightest wind and you will find shingles blown off and laying on the ground. The roof is so bad that I am fearful that even the boards underneath the shingles may need to be replaced.

Realize that this is my last resort in trying to come up with the funds required to get this new roof. I have tried applying to government grants for home improvement but unfortunately I do not qualify because 1. my property taxes are not paid up to date (I owe approximately $2000 just in property taxes), and 2. the size of the house is larger than the specified guideline parameters. Nor do I qualify for a loan of any sort as 1. I make a mere $200 a month working and 2. have bad past credit (being a single mom has taken some serious tolls on me - including financially!).

So the goal here is to get a new roof installed - and as soon as possible so that any further damage to the house is avoided. I also worry about the mold forming in the bathroom especially and one day the roof caving in in there. While my children have grown to teenagers now, I still have to worry about their health.

I have uploaded pictures and this story at Chip-In to show you the extent of the damage done especially in the bathroom area - and a view of the shingles as they are right now on the roof. Admittedly I realize that my house also needs some repair on the stucco, windows and such but right now my main concern is the roof. I'm surprised it hasn't caved in on me by now.

I thank everyone in advance for helping me with this. I do not normally like asking for help from anyone but at this point I am finding that I have no other alternative.

Please view photos of the damage, etc at my Chip-In page at http://escapetofreedom.chipin.com/imperative-home-repairs

I am currently 6 1/2 months pregnant with my second child... and I recently lost my job due to a week long stay in the hospital. I have a kidney disorder which only acts up while I am in the last two trimesters of pregnancy. I am behind in all ofmy bills and having absoluthey no luck with the job search. I believe its this big belly I am carrying with me :) I do not want to lose my apartment, and the stress of it all has made the pregnancy even more complicated. I need assistance of any sort to pay my rent and my electric bill. I have talked to every resource around about getting help just until I have this baby but I have hit dead ends with all of it.
I quit my job to move in and take care of my parents, one who has COPD and the other has Alzheimers. I also have 2 small boys and my welfare runs out next month. I cannot have my parents put in a state nursing home and feel it is my duty as their daughter to take care of them through the end of their life. We are about to lose everything if we don't get some sort of assistance. Thank you so much.

Single Mom in Need of Non-Food Necessities

Posted by nicolembranham on 2012-04-18 21:58:52

In November of 2011, I had a pulmonary embolism. After getting off Coumadin in March, I was still extremely sick. Doctors cannot seem to find the issue. Lupus, autoimmune and cancer were what they thought it was but blood tests ruled that out. Now it looks like endometriosis. I am on the verge of losing my job, only working a day a week. I cannot take a leave of absence because I need some sort of income for bills and gas to get me to and from college classes. I have a 6 yr old son that I take to school daily as well. I am NOT asking for cash, and I really do hate to do this, but we are in great need of non-food necessities (toilet paper, laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc.) I am trying to sell my possessions on ebay for extra cash but it isn't going so well. Thank you for your interest.

OF MONEY, RATS, MOSQUITO AND OCCASSIONALLY SNAKES....

OF MONEY, RATS, MOSQUITO AND OCCASSIONALLY SNAKES....

I am a stay at home mom with 3 boys 9, 7 and 2. They are the only reason i am still going strong.

I live with my husband, 3 boys and my 2 elderly in laws. We live in a wooden and brick 50 year old house. Just a few months ago it was leaking in so many places untill the charity department replaced part of our roof. We have rats running around at night and mosquito all day and night. I am raising my children in this situation and it breaks my heart everyday. they are simply not safe!!!!

Disease is a huge concern... And occasionally snakes....

Anybody with a hammer can simply break the wooden walls. Easily...

And my husband has been laid off in 2008 without any given compensation. We are still claiming it in court. it was suppose to help us for the next few months or maybe start a small business of some sort. But on the last day of work they came and told us that they refuse to pay when they PROMISED to 2 months prior. We were utterly shocked and unprepared!!!!

We've always had a lot of money troubles but this still effect us to this very day.

My husband has been in and out of jobs since then....

Begging and borrowing, not paying our bills...

Our debt has grown to about $20,000usd.
We simply couldnt make ends meet for years...

We couldnt start anything new to make money...
There is none to spare.. no more to save..........

We couldnt move on... we couldnt do anything new... We are trapped.... stuck!

And i couldn't work.. I have to take care of my boys and my 2 elderly inlaws..

I have deppression. I have a memory of a sixty year old and i am only 36, and i am also a borderline agarophobic...

Its hard to get out of bed and do anything and i've been homebound for the last 10 years.. Most days i feel numb...

We are so miserable... My husband and i would fight a lot from money issues sorrounding our lives eventhough we love each other dearly...

A good amount to have a month is at least $800usd and we have never made that much.

Living expenses skyrocket day by day...

Everything seems so illusive..

What we need is to start a business of some sort to put together a better future..

Our children are growing up.. Today it takes about $70,000 usd per child to go to college.. I have 3...And it will surely be a lot more when they are going to college later..

I dont see how we are going to pull through if we dont find our way now....

And so i would like to request for another $20,000 usd plus the $20,000 to pay for our debt so that i can make it through all this and start a business to secure the future for my family....

Please please help us... You would help 7 souls... And you would make us very very happy for a long time to come...

Again i humbly ask for your help... Please help us by giving us a better chance for our future.... Please strongly consider my request... For the sake of our childrens future...

I desperately need your help...
Please help us....

Thank You Very Much.

suspended from university as I could not pay my fees

Posted by bardha2 on 2012-03-29 08:58:35

My name is Bardha. I am currently on my final year of university. I have been struggling with my studying due to my depression resulted from my fathers death. Hence, it took me longer on university then I was supposed to. I have tried to apply for a loan from student finance but they refused to give me loan because you are only entitled to get three years loan and it took me in university longer then that. I have tried to find a job in London but was unable to do so for so long now and my sister promised me to pay my tuition fee but she is not paying it now. The university has send me several letters asking me to make the payment for university. They now suspended me. I am in an a very tremendous situation and I am very sad, hopeless and do not know who to ask for help. Please please open your heart and resuscitate my spirit so I can complete my final year and have a brighter future. Any little help would mean so much to me. If anyone can offer me I job that would be great to. I am willing to do cleaning, nanny, any sort of job that would enable me to pay my tuition fee.

My email address is b.paloja@hotmail.co.uk. Please please please take my deteriorating situation into consideration and help.

Kind regards
