I need help getting a car for college at UNC Charlotte

I am a sophomore at the university of UNC Charlotte. I really need a car for college because me and my family cannot afford one. A donation would be nice or if you have one for really cheap that works good that would also help. 919-273-1908

I just need a break

Posted by juststartingover on 2012-05-12 17:58:13

I am a sophomore at a local community college. I am currently staying with a family member, since I lost my job 2 years ago. We are about to lose our electric because my sister is the only one working and her income barely covers rent. We have no cable etc at home. I can not start my next semester of college because I owe the school 600 dollars after having to drop 2 classes this past semester because my mother became very ill early in the semester. I was left with her final bills as well. So I just need a break, and anything would be greatly appreciated

Can't use FAFSA, Grants, or Federal Monies

Posted by Future-Engineer on 2012-04-24 23:58:19

Background:

I was born in Argentina, but have lived in Texas since I was 5. I had no say in it; my parents decided that’s what was best for me since Buenos Aires was so crime-ridden. I graduated high school like normal kids, went to a community college right afterwards, and worked part time to cover its costs. I got an Associate’s in Science (Nursing) and then dropped out since I couldn't afford to attend a university nor decide on a major. My GPA was a 3.4 at the time.

I'm now 25, working full time (Geek Squad, can’t do much with an associate’s), studying electrical engineering, married to my high school sweetheart, and have my goals set! I just have one thing holding me back...MONEY. Since I backtracked when I changed majors, I had a few sophomore classes to take. I'm finishing them at the same community college, and I'm registered for the Fall semester at the University of Texas at Dallas (Junior level courses). I have gotten nothing but As since I've been back!

Why I Need Your Help:

Now, you may be wondering, why can't I use FAFSA? Well, I recently obtained my permanent residence. That was a big roadblock growing up. One of the agreements I had with our nation was that I would not use federal funds (welfare, food stamps, grants, FAFSA, etc) for the next 10 years. I work full time and attend as many classes as I can per semester; I have no time for lollygagging.

Sallie Mae can only loan me so much, and banks nowadays make it very difficult to borrow from for school. All the scholarships I’ve looked for require either citizenship or full time enrollment, neither of which I am. (Can’t enroll full time because I need to work full-time to make ends meet) My father is a construction worker and I don’t know my mom, she left us when I was 7. I just sold my laptop on eBay and made myself a cheap one from recycled parts. I've tried getting internships, but I'm not deep enough into my career to be eligible yet. Nearby family members don’t have any spare cash, and don’t make enough to co-sign a loan for me….So I’m here, hoping some kind strangers can help me out.

I am a hard working student, good Samaritan, bilingual, a jokester, drug-free, do calculus in my head, pay taxes, 740 credit score, and drive a broken down Pontiac. My only goal right now is to finish school with flying colors as soon as possible; just need this financial roadblock to meet a wrecking ball.

Will you help me smash it down?

College Student in Pretty Bad Shape

Posted by jm07656 on 2012-03-06 17:58:33

First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time out of your day to
read this. You don't even have to do that, but you are, and I really
appreciate that. Let me also tell you that I take responsibility for

everything that has happened to me. You see, I'm a college student, and like
many college sophomore's, I get into a lot of situations that get me into a

heat of water. Unfortunately, all these situations happened to happen all
that thee same time. It started last thursday. My roomate was having a
little party at our apartment. The music was loud which resulted in the

police getting called over. We were given a noise violation for $142. The
very next morning, I was running late for class, so I took my car on campus.
I was in such a rush that I didn't realize that I parked in a no parking

zone. It was only a 50 minute class, but by the time I got back, I got to
witness them towing my car away. That came out to be $150 and $5 is added

everyday, so at the day of this writing, I need $170 to get my car out of
the impound. I also have a $425 rent that I have to pay before the 15th or I
will evicted. I would go to my parents, but my mom is on her last

unemployment checks, and the company that my dad works for is in a legal
dispute, and for some reason they are witholding their employees checks.
I've have tried every option I could think of. I went to friends, but
college students don't have much as it is. I went to my financial aid

counselor, but they said it was too late in the year to pull out any loans
or anything. I have no job, so I can't get a payday loan. I believe that
this could be my last option, but God allowed me to find this site for a
reason. Once again I appreciate the time you took to read this, and I hope
that you can help.

Struggling Student

I'm a sophomore in college in North Carolina. I have 3.7 GPA but still do not get nearly enough financial aid to cover my costs for school. I work part time as a waitress, but the money I earn is used for groceries and bills. Both of my parents have drug issues and I have lived with my grandparents since I was about 7 but they barely can afford to take care of themselves, let alone myself and my brother. I am a hard working person. I worked very hard to get into college. I hope this isn't my last year. I would like to make something out of myself. All donations are greatly appreciated. If you would like , I will send anyone that donates a picture of myself and my diploma when I graduate. Thank you so so much.

Ex-husband vacations while I prepare to file bankruptcy

Posted by SusieQ1064 on 2012-02-18 15:58:16

After 19+ years of marriage, I divorced just over 1 year ago. My ex-husband & I have 2 children; a high school senior & a college sophomore. During our kids' early years, my ex-husband's salary allowed me to be a stay-at-home mom, which I loved. His employment involved extensive travel & many moves; 8 moves in 19 years. I supported the moves & the job changes, including a failed franchise in which we lost over $150,000. I earn $25,000/year; he earns approximately 6 times more; however, the divorce settlement saddled me with $60,000 of credit card & loan debt. I was emotionally drained, out of money & agreed to the terms. He is 16 years my senior & near retirement. A prenuptial agreement bars me from any of his retirement. He earned the money, and I am not bitter about the retirement aspect. I have stopped paying the credit card & loan payments as rent & car payment are more important. His girlfriend is a wealthy widow with 3 homes & a Lexus. I don't want to file bankruptcy, but I believe that's my only option. I do not have a college degree. I have a good job with good health benefits. I work for the state of WI, have not had a raise in 3+ years and do not see a raise in the near future. I have taken on a 2nd job. I have no need for vacations or material possessions; I do want is to live a life where I am not afraid to answer the phone for fear that caller is a creditor. I would also like to contribute to our children’s college education. I sincerely thank you for your time.

Busy College Student-Not a Scam

Posted by ncstudent on 2012-02-15 11:58:36

First off I want to point out that reading most of these posts you can tell they are scams, they don't even type proper english. But this is no sob story of me loosing my house I am just looking for a good-hearted person possibly trying to help someone out. I am a 19yr old sophomore at college in Boone, NC. I am going to school to get a degree in elementary education and have to work 25-50 hours a week (on top of 18 hours in college, which if you ever went you know is not an easy task on its own) in order to pay bills. My parents have been split up since I was about a year old and neither have extra money to spare. Between tuition, car insurance, car payment, rent, food and cell phone bills I am stressed out and my grades seem to be slipping. I would just like a little less stress in this busy life of mine. If anyone would like to help me out or just wants more information first to confirm this isn't a scam just send me a message. I figured this was worth a try right? Thanks everyone!

Help Send Me to College

Posted by Laain on 2012-02-04 22:58:59

The college I want to go to is pretty much my dream college! It’s so
awesome! It has the best Vet program in my state if not the only
program in my state. It’s most likely the only college that offers
actual vet Med and not just the per-requirements in my state. Their vet
program is what first got me interested in my sophomore year of college.
I got to looking at it and it became the school I most wanted to go to.
It just seems like a really good fit for me. I would really really love
to go here! It has everything I would need. i cannot for the life of me
find another college I would rather go to, but even if I did I would
still need to do this to raise money for my college fund because as you
all know tuition prices are rising every year and it’s getting more and
more expensive to go. I’m 22 now and would really like to get started on
my college career. I’ve been to community college with the help of a
pell grant, but that just isn’t going to cut it. I really have to go to a
university to further my career. I don’t want to be waiting around too terribly long to be
graduating college or even really getting started good. It would mean
the world to me to get to go to college sometime in the near future. My
mental health also rides on going. I’m depressed because I’m not going
and I see what others in my high school graduating class have
accomplished and well it depresses me too because I’m no where near
getting close to getting a job in my field of study. Where as they have
finished school and working in their field or is in the internship
phase. Either way I’m ready to get started on truly accomplishing my
dreams and getting a career. I do not want to end up like my parents and
grandparents and have no college degree even though I want one. I want
to do something they didn’t and what they told me to do if I could and
If I wanted too. If you click the links you can help me get closer to
this goal well dream really.

Well anyway the cost of the college is $25,000 a year, but this doesn’t
include professional costs which will be closer to $40,000 for Vet Med.
Though I’m only looking to get $25,000 for right now. I’ll just want to at least get to go for one year.

Tuition and fees for year are $8,698, Books and Supplies
would be around $1,100, Room and Board will be around $9,992, Other that
they charge will be around $5,166. I should get a pell grant, but I’m
not sure I may not but that will most likely only pay $2,000 if I’m lucky $3,000. I’ve applied to scholarships, but I don’t stand out so I’ll be lucky to even get one if that. With my luck I won’t get one. So I’ll still need a good bit.

So as you can see it will be very
expensive. I will greatly appreciate anything you donate to help me
afford to go to college. I know I most likely won’t get the amount I’m
going for, but I hope to
get most and try to keep from having to take out huge loans.

I don’t to have a huge debt coming out of college if I can help it.

Just one dollar will help.

The college I’m planning on going to is Auburn University and I have been accepted.

Need money for Student Expenses

Posted by aliceloyd on 2011-11-16 23:58:50

Hello, I'm currently a sophomore at the University of Michigan. I was laid off my job here and I still have many expenses such as rent, books next semester, and my tuition bills to consider. I could really use some help until I find a replacement job.

Due to my family's financial situation, I did receive quite a bit of help from FAFSA, but it failed to cover around $6,000 of my costs this year. In addition to this, rent on campus is outrageous. I am forced to pay $800 a month to live in a rinky-dink apartment that smells like dying cats and usually floods from the sewage tank every other month. I just need a little boost for a month until I can get up on my feet again.

To anyone who donates, thank you so much. I promise it is much appreciated and will go to a good cause; and education and the costs that come with it.

sunk into a hole we cant get out of...

Posted by kelseycantsmile on 2011-10-26 16:58:43

I am currently a sophomore in college. My fiance and I live together in a two bedroom apartment. We have gone through three roommates in the past month. The first: hid our bills from us, stole from us, and to top it all off, lied to us about paying rent and disappeared leaving us to pay it on our own. After we scraped and scrounged for every penny, we got the rent money. The next room mate was my fiances good friend from Boston. He wanted to start fresh so we offered him a home on the account of paying for half the rent. We got him a job, and all he did was complain about working, called out, and couldn't make he whole rent. Essentially, it got so bad that we kicked him out. A man my fiance and I have both worked with got kicked out of his home around the same time, so we allowed him to move in. He cleaned, paid us, and was a fabulous room mate. A we days ago, he told us his daughter was diagnosed with diabetes so he was going to move back in with his mother to be closer to her. He took his things with him that night, but swore he would be coming back for my fiances birthday (which is today) and to pay rent (which is due Monday). He called my fiance the day after and said he was in some sort of trouble. We didn't get any details, but we are afraid he won't be able to pay us. Last week after getting m car repaired from a wreck, we now owe $2000 on that, multiple bills and rent adding up to be due next week. On top if this, I just found out I was pregnant yesterday. Neither of us have a good relationship with our families, and have no where else to go if we were to lose our home. I'm not asking for you to empty your wallets, but any help is much appreciated. Please help us keep our home.

Money for School for Son

I am a single mom trying to keep my son in St. Thomas Aquinas High School, a very good college prep school. David is smart, funny and most importantly kind and I hate the thought that he may have to leave all the people he knows and switch schools in the middle of his sophomore year but business is downtrending (I am in advertising) and it looks like this may be my last chance to keep him there.

My car needs repair and it will cost over 2,000 dollars. I can't afford that. I have a job but I cannot get to it because of my car. Tuition and books, and supplies are expensive. Help the FHS Choir Department!

Hi there! I'm a sophomore at Fairview High School in Boulder, CO. Music is my life. I absolutely love choir. But I can only sing in a choir and work at my passion if the choir department at my school has enough money to keep running! My school district gives Fairview $1500 each year, but it takes over $35,000 to actually pay for everything. It's a huge department. That's why I'm asking for your help-- please give anything you can! Allow music to enrich the lives of thousands!

HELP ME GO TO SCHOOL THIS FALL

Posted by mychildseduction on 2011-07-25 23:58:17

My parents have instilled the importance of a good education. I am attempting to complete my freshman year at a great college-preparatory school but because of the present circumstance I am not able to. My parents recently divorce and money is extremely tight. My mother is the sole provider for the family and her salary has drastically decreased. Both of my parents have always made sacrifices to send myself and my brother to private schools, especially since the public schools in my area are terrible. Saying they are below average is honestly an understatement. With the divorce and the recession, my mom is struggling to afford my current education. I have worked extremely hard this year and want to continue toward my goals and preparation to entered into a good college.

Unfortunately, the day I was suppose to take my final exams for my freshman year, I was called to the school's office. They told me that they couldn't allow me to take the exams because my mother was unable to pay the balance on the tuition. To know that I couldn't finish my first year was devastating. I can not even begin to describe in words how crushing it was for me to receive this news. The threshold of the sophomore year is about to begin but I will not be able to attend because my mother is currently unable to pay the past due tuition and I can't take my final exams until the bill is paid. I am presently in limbo and pretty scared. My mother has been working extremely hard to pay the balance and make arrangements to pay the tuition for this coming year. There also isn't any extended family to help us either. I see my mom everyday work till she gets headaches, she's always tired and I'm worried for her as I watch her struggle to get me back in school. Ultimately, I would very much like to continue my education at my college-preparatory school because I completely understand the importance of an education. I appreciate any donations and give my unending thanks for your generosity.

Please help me pay bills, continue school, and care for husband!

Posted by delicacy on 2011-06-11 12:58:38

I'm in my mid 20s and am a business major. I've made the Dean's List both freshman semesters and am now a sophomore. I started college after I had been laid off for a year and was unsuccessful at finding another job. My husband is a disabled vet from the army and cannot work. Due to recent changes in his benefits we aren't able to pay all our bills, one of which is payments towards my education. We also will have to cut down on the number of times I take my husband to his medical appointments. I've been looking since the start of the year for employment as I knew this day would come, but so far have only had 2 interviews and no one has hired me. Any help would be appreciated, money or a job (even temporary). Thank you to any who offer any sort of help!

I am a very good student I just need a little help.

I am a student who cares, I know there are fellow peers that are in the same situation as I am, making min. wage @ 7.25 an hour and struggling, so when I am done with my books and supplies I just give them away to those who need them. I know my God will provide and move in someones heart to help me. One day I will be able to read these passages and bless those in need. Thank you for taking the time out to read my plea.
Hi everyone

I am a struggling college student trying to make payments to get through school. I am a biology and pre-med major. My dream is to become a doctor and help people live a long and great life. My mom was diagnosed with cancer about 3 years ago now, she went through treatment and has been getting positive tests ever since and the cancer is officially out of her system. This really effected me a lot and made my goal become 100x more important. Cancer research is something ive wanted to do ever since. I am a sophomore now and my part time job is barely covering all my expenses. Every year college tuition has gone up and i dont know if i can continue next semester. I already have loans but i find myself cutting back on a lot of essential everyday things which is starting to effect things negatively. If anyone could send me anything i would really appreciate it, help me obtain my dream! I also want to give back to my mom, with everything she went through and fought through she deserves it. Thank you everyone for your generosity

Ashley needs help

Posted by ashleyneedshelp on 2011-05-05 08:58:53

My name is Ashley and I'm a sophomore in college. I hate blogging but I figured I should type something up to tell you guys a little about me and my fund. Obviously, whatever I raise here will go straight to my college tuition. As you all may know college is expensive. I hate that you pretty much have to go IN debt with student loans and such, in order to better yourself so that you can get a nice career. It's all a fucked up system and unfortunately it's unavoidable.

Any contributions are very much appreciated- no matter if you send $1 or $100. I know the economy sucks and many people's finances are tight. Gas prices are reaching $5.00 and above. What kind of shit is that?! I predict a huge boom in bicycle sales this summer.

What I also predict is a lot of negative feedback about this. I am already anticipating getting spammed with hate emails. They'll probably sound similar to this: "Why don't you try going out and finding a job? What makes you think you deserve free handouts? YOU SUCK!" blah blah blah... go ahead and hit me with all of those punches. I won't blame you... I know how frustrating it can be to see someone get a little help while doing absolutely nothing while others are out there putting in concrete effort, struggling, making things happen. My response to all of that is, I love the internet. Do you know why I love the internet? Because anything goes. Make your own little chip in page. Do what I'm doing for yourself.

I know my goal of $10,000 is pretty out there but my rationale for this is that- there are billions of millions of thousands of hundreds of people in the world. If 10,000 people could manage to get to this page and donate just $1 each then boom, goal reached. We'll see...

I've made a chip in page so you can read my blogs and see my progress. Thank you in advanced for any help.

Community College Student In Need of a Helping Hand

Posted by Help_Wanted on 2011-03-04 22:58:32

I am a 19 year old college sophomore who is struggling to help my parents pay rent and keep up in school at the same time. Due to financial difficulties, it has been stressful to maintain my grades and my life at home. Tuition has gone up and school books have gotten more expensive. I can only work part time due to my school schedule and my parents are having an incredibly difficult time paying off rent on time. I just need some help getting on my own two feet so that I may help out my parents and still be a full time student. I want to better my life and work towards all that I want to be. To do so, I just need a bit of help in the right direction. Thank you for your time and help. It is greatly appreciated.
