My situation is that I am a senior citizen and a decorated Vietnam veteran. I got a job TODAY (after looking for 2+ years!!) Age discrimination is "real"!). Problem is, I start 05/13/2012 and my first check is at the very end of the month. I currently have NOT A SINGLE CENT TO MY NAME! I have to travel to the job every day but I have NO fund (I only have 3 days of senior citizen travel on my metro seniors metro card). At the end of the month, I will be "free" and able to handle the fares myself!! I need to find someone; somehow who will fund me about $100.00 to get me through the month of May - until I get that first check. These funds are needed SOLEY to get to the job to go to work. It has taken me a LONG time to find something... and I have. I just want to work. I'm due on site 05/13.2012. I welcome any assistance or advice. I'm desperate to get to work.

I am a married 59 year old disabled man. My wife is also disabled. I paid into Social Security and Federal taxes for 34 years and served my country during the Iran Hostage crisis. While getting my 50 year physical exam my bloodwork and a biospy ended up putting me through 2 chemos for my liver. Even though I wasn't cured we seemed to have stopped the progression of the disease. While going through this living hell our government would not approve my Social Security disability until I was completely penniless. My claim was finally approved after 2 years with no income or money. The judge who approved my claim was appalled that the SS Administration waited so long to approve someone over 55 with a 34 year work history. I was found 100% disabled due to a condition that ends in death. It's pretty obvious they were waiting to see if I would die! Now I do have some income which I am thankful for but it doesn't cover all my expenses. If all I had was general bills like gas, water, electric, car ins. and food I could make ends meet. I am struggling to pay my property tax. I own my home which my father built after WWII. My property tax is billed every 6 months and is over $1000.00 semi-anually my monthly check is only $1300.00 which barely covers the regular bills. Right now I am barely staying ahead of the threats to sell my home for back taxes. I applied for the Homestead Act property tax exemption for seniors and the disabled where they can deduct up to $25000.00 from the value of your home and tax that amount. The average person in my state saves $400.00 a year on this program according to their website. When my tax bill came this exemption only reduced my taxes by $164.00 a year. That's only $82.00 from each semi-annual government extortion. First I was forced to exhaust my life savings before they would approve my disability now this. I must figure a way to supplement my income. I have paid my dues and shouldn't have to struggle and deal with such heavy stress at this stage of my life. These are supposed to be pleasant years when you've lived right. Please, HELP!

I have always help my family friends and strangers in need of a place to stay, food, ride, money clothes ect. Well due to a move, divorce from an abuser and surgery, I thought things were looking up when I got my career moving for a non profit senior resident center, then after a year offered a great position in management for a nursing home but this is a rural community and I did my job well. Due to the economic environment I was let go and my old job already replaced me. Im on unemployment. If I can move to a bigger city, like near los angeles (I have a free place to stay) then I will never be without a job. Currently I volunteer my time with hospice and driving seniors to their doctor appts and errands. My car is old but paid for I need auto repairs in the amount of 2,000; dental work 800; Relocation expenses to move to California 6000; and a job masters degree in healthcare in san fernado valley California I have a paypal account or you can send the money directly to the vendors in kind to me. My dad is a retired veteran from Vietnam era, he works for above minimum wage and I live with him currently. He gets his retirement too but he needs a new fence for his house, I helped with all thee renovations but being unemployed I can offer the labor but the materials are about $2500.00 or $4500 installed he would never ask for a handout but he also needs extensive dental work and replace his implants front teeth from 40 years ago from accident his smile means everything to me. With that said once im able to get back on my feet and return to work, I will be able to help others too! Thankyou for any assistance you can provide in these matters .

im also familiar with Alzhimers, Dementia and Senility and most of the the problems that affect Seniors!!!
i can also change an adult diaper, do bed linens, give meds
bathing, dressing, personal hygiene includs hair/nails/feet
assit walking, grocery shopping, errans answer phone....
also PC Literate well organized/multi tasker!!!
Drs appts, Beauty Salon...

im also an excellent houseKeeper...Lite and deep cleaning...
i also do laundry and clean house as well as general living areas
Im also a lite cook prepare all meals...including hot and cold food...
Im also great with children and very pet friendly!!! cat or dog is fine!!! (will also care for)
I also give (Therapeutic Massage) if needed!!!

Im seeking a F/T OR P/T position, btwn the hrs of 11am-7pm or 12pm-8pm overtime ok, nothing less than 4 hrs..
days would be Mons,Tues,Thurs,Fridays, Sundays
As for rate very affordable, will work with-in yr budget!!!
Not looking to get Rich, just survive in this Economy!!!

My husband and I are seniors. He has had a serious illness since he was 35, and I can barely walk now. My husband tries to work all he has to get to work is a bike, and he's skin over bones, and barely eats. Now he's so sick, he hasn't been able to get in two days of work a week. He's been off over a month. Financially, we have nothing. We sit here hungry our frig is empty except for milk, and the problem is because of his illness, he won't eat anything at all hardly. W e have no money. Our electricity will be disconnected in April. The plan they offered us, is still too much to pay. I'm so hungry. We don't have a kitchen table, and our sofa is an old used one. Neither of us has one decent outfit to wear anywhere. I'm so depressed. I can't work anywhere; I have no car, and I struggle to walk. I have COPD, but can no longer buy my inhaler. Now I'm afraid our very strict manager will evict us when they turn off our electricity. Some have said they will. Please, anything will help. We have one daughter who struggles too, and if I die, she will have nothing that I can leave her to help her. We all want our children to have more than we. If my husband dies soon, I can't afford any apartment there's no life ins., and I'm taking a bus to New York to live on the streets, but I'm scared. I can't walk much, and I don't know how to stay warm when it's freezing outside. I'm begging everyone who read this, please help anyway you can; I'll be forever in your debt, and I can tell you my family thinks I'm odd because I try to help everyone. I have literally given my last bit of money, but there's not enough compassion for each other in this world. I'd rather be this way. God be with all of you and bless you with a wonderful life and family.I hope someone will remember our plight.

I have a soft spot for senior citizens--always have.
I have had a long time handyman business and usually give seniors a discount. Most are lonely and want to talk. And so, after hearing their stories, I usually charge them for materials(if any) and take lunch, a pie, a plate of cookies, whatever for my labor. I leave with a really good feeling and then when I get home, dread sets in because I have bills of my own. Normally, I would work harder the next day to make it up. Enter the recession and hard times for most everyone. Now, I find myself a senior citizen, struggling, behind on my mortgage and utilities.
I have never asked for help before. Won't you help me keep my business going so I can continue to help the parents and grandparents of others.

I look like Nanny McFee. I need to have 16 teeth pulled. I am in pain every day. Each tooth cost over 150.oo to be pulled and than I need an upper denture. I take care of seniors that have no one to take them to appointments, and I just lost my car do to not being able to get a job because of the way I look with no teeth. With your help I will be able to continue to help others in need. I have many refrences and have a background check and finger printed. I take really good care of my seniors but my teeth and lack of transportation have prevented me from finding work. Any help is greatly appriciated!! Thank you for your kindness.

My husband and I are seniors who always paid our bills , have a good credit name and now everything is falling apart.
I have health problems for 14 yeaars that have kept me home bound for 14 years. In Dec. my husband had prostrate cancer surgery and since then his business has gotten so bad we have to close it down. Now my teeth are falling apart and I need $6,000.00 to correct it. We dont have the money and look like life is going down hill. I hate asking for help, this is not who I am. I have raised 4 children who cannnot help right now and I dont even know it this is the right thing to do asking others to help me.i am having panic attacks and cant sleep at nights worrying.
