Help with leukemia bills!

Posted by MilamShane2003 on 2012-05-24 21:58:31

I am middle child of three brothers. Currently, my older brother and I are currently unemployed looking desperately to find a job again. Back in November, my mother was diagnosed with acute leukemia. A day after she was diagnosed she had a stroke and my mother has not been the same since. The stroke caused a condition called "Broca's Apasia" which affects the speech part of your brain. Basically with this condition she can understand everything spoken to her, but it's her finding those words to speak back which has been affected. No complete sentence hardly ever. Well my brother and I quit our jobs to become her caretakers at home. In to a few weeks of this we had to take her to intensive care at MD Anderson because she had developed MRSA infection (Hostpital Super-Bug), and she went into septic shock. Septic shock summed up is your organs going into failure. She was put into a sedated coma for a little over a month. She was then slowly brought out of the coma and transferred to a ICU at a Hospice/Rehabilitation Facility where the doctors estimated her recovery program to take 2-3 years. We all now how much money this will accumulate to. Her insurance is fixing to run out, and when she is put on medicaid they can take all of her assets to cover medical costs. So my brother and I had to put our house (Mom's House) up for sale so they wont take the house to cover her medical costs. If the house sells right now while my brother and I are unemployed we will be homeless. I dont know how or if websites like this really recieve donations, but it is worth a try. I am all out of options. Thanks for reading my story!

Get me out of my parents basement.

Posted by getmeoutofthebasement on 2011-09-20 18:58:27

I'm 29, single, have a good job, but I'm having a hard time saving for a down payment. I'm still living with my parents and want a place of my own. I found a bank repo that is wicked awesome but I don't think I'll be able to save up enough in time before it sells without your help. This house would make the perfect bachlor pad. Walk out basement with a party deck and an in-ground pool. It needs some minor work that I can handle, but I fear that unless I can come up with the money in time, it will go to some couple with a family. Please help save this house from a boring life, and please help me get out of my parents basement. Thank you.

PLs help me and my mother

My mother is single mom, for that Me and my mom lives with my grandparent, and she is the one who take care of my grandma, my grandma was paralyze since year 2001.For that reason she doesnt have time to earn money for us. My mother was former businesswoman she sells clothes at her mini store, and she has savings before, and now she was buried from debt, her siblings was blaming her that she is extravagant, even it was not true for that reason our house was on mortgage and we are hoping to redeem it,but we were desperate,we will lose home. Any amount will do for us to rent, if we cant pay for it and I believe it was better to ask for help to other people than to family.

Updates: September 11, 2011 - I have been able to get a part-time job which is good news, but the rest is just about the same. Thank you for your help Malum Designs
and Pete B.
Since my previous posts have yielded only four donations over the last five months I thought I would try this approach. My financial problems are quite real. If you find my fable entertaining please send a small donation.

The Grasshopper and the Ant
A Classic retold by Joseph the Beggar King
Part One

Once upon a time, not so very long ago, there were two friends, the Grasshopper and the Ant. Why these two became friends is a bit of a mystery. The Grasshopper was a dreamer and a drifter. The Ant was a believer and an achiever.

In school the Grasshopper would look out the window without thought and only learned the subjects he found interesting. Sometimes he would fall asleep in Math class, other times when a angry teacher would jump him with a pop question he would give the correct answer in way that would confound them.

The Ant was a teachers dream, he soaked up every subject the system taught him, gave the correct answers in the correct way and got straight A s. He would delight his Math teacher by doing compound interest in his head. The Ant believed that what they taught him would help him succeed and was very completive. After graduating High School the Ant got an Academic Scholarship and the Grasshopper got a Pell Grant.

Within four years the Ant got two BS degrees in Business Management and Engineering. The Grasshopper dropped out after the first year. He went to live with the Rainbow Tribe for a few years. On the way to the bus station he found an old fiddle in a trash pile along the road and when he got station he was able to panhandle his bus fare. That was the Grasshoppers first beg.

The Ant took the College like a fish to water. During open Rush some Greeks invite him to be a brother in their Fraternity. He earned his dues by being the Frat Houses Accountant and made beer money by writing term papers. One day while visiting the Tri Deltas he watches the girls play volleyball and is amazed that even though they are playing a vigorous game not one of them breaks a sweat. It is there he meets the girl of his dreams, Polly Fishbane.

While the Grasshopper was living with the Rainbow Tribe he never meets the girl of his dreams, but it does not really matter too much because they believe in Free Love. So free, in fact, that after what you might call the Honeymoon he found himself getting a little bored with it. From the Rainbow Tribe he learns to live off the fat of country and from his new friend, Buffalo with Runs, he learns to live off the land. Buffalo with Runs was an very old Indian that was adopted by the tribe. He taught the Grasshopper what wild plants were safe to eat or use for medicines. He showed him how to set traps and hunt small game. Then, during one winter Gathering four people froze to dead because they were too stoned to come in out of the cold. The Grasshopper became very sad and hopped away.

The Ant is recruited by a Aerospace firm even before he graduated college and goes to work on the Apollo Program. He and his new wife Polly loved the Florida sunshine and settle down to start the American Dream. They decide to have two and half children. Even though the third kid looked a bit odd the Ant loved him as only a father can. With easy money down and mortgage tax deductions compliments of Uncle Sam, they get a house with a two car garage. Next they get two cars and the Rat Race is on. The Ant loves it! Working on the Apollo Program is more than a job, it is being part of history. Polly loves it! Raising their kids and Keeping up of with the Jones. She starts selling Avon products on the side. The Ant buys the best bass boat in the neighborhood, but only uses it once a year because he too busy working. He sets up his retirement funds and a small stock portfolio. Life is Good!

After leaving the Rainbow Tribe the Grasshopper panhandles his way across the country. He sets up in parks and subways where he pretends to play his fiddle while selling jewelry made of deer anthers and beads. The noise he makes with his fiddle sounds like a cat being killed and people give him money just to make him stop. Before the Cops run him off, the Grasshopper usually made enough in one day of begging to cover his needs for the week. When he is hungry he goes to a Soup Kitchen and when he needs clothing there are the Sharing Centers. Every now and then he lets some good hearted woman try to save him. Life is Good and he hops away.

The Apollo Program ends and the new Shuttle program does not start for a couple of years. The Aerospace company were the Ant works at does not win any of the new bids. They offer him a job in California at 20% less of his salary. Polly and the kids are in a rage. Nobody wants to move and leave their friends. The Ant sells his house at a loss because the real estate market in flooded by the laid offs. The one car and the boat are reprocessed. He sells off his stock portfolio for the down payment on the new house in California and even though money is tight the Ant decides to take the family on a short vacation to Key West to uplift their spirits. He finds the Grasshopper selling deer antler jewelry at the Front Street Market. While Polly and the kids go shopping, he and Grasshopper catch up and have a couple of beers. The Ant tells his friend about the laid offs and the move. The Grasshopper asks him - Are you Happy - ? The Ant says - Yes -. His friend says, - Good - . They watch the sunset and see a green flash on the horizon.
To be continue.

Need Rent Money.

Posted by MHOFL on 2011-07-30 23:58:05

After finishing my 4 year obligation to the military I am left to fend for myself. For the 1st 6 months I was able to get by on Unemployment, and 1 year after that doing odd jobs & living off my savings. I just moved into a new place last month to reduce my rent significantly and best of all utilities included. I don't want to be a bad tenant as this will only be my 2nd month staying here. And I got a good deal through a friend and don't want him to look bad for recommending me. I'm trying to sell my Jeep which will easily get me 5 months of rent while I can get more work, but until it sells I have nothing, and no one to turn to. I can and would prefer to pay it back when I get the money as I am responsible for getting myself into this situation and have never had someone pay my way but right now my situation doesn't look so good, and I have to consider all my options. :-/ Any help?

Lost job, need help until things get better

Posted by stonedog57 on 2011-07-01 07:58:59

I was laid off from my job on Aug 13, 2008 and have been trying to find work since then. I've sent out 100's of resumes and made 100's of cold calls but have yet to secure an interview, much less a job. I've never been out of work this long since I was 15 years old. The job market for those of us over 50 is very tough. I've already gone through 99 weeks of unemployment compensation and have been living off savings. I have yet to miss a payment on anything but the money is getting low and I'm going to have to sell the house. When,or if, the house sells me and my dog have no where to go. I won't give up my dog, she is a dear part of my family and my great companion.
I have been helping out my two brothers who live in Florida, one who has several severe medical problems, and that has also put a financial strain on me. I've told them I can no longer send any money as things are getting desperate for me up here.
I need money to help pay the mortgage until the house sells and need money to buy a cheaper house for me and my dog someplace else where I could hopefully make a fresh start. I'm not one to ask for help very often, I pride myself on being independent and self sufficient, and I certainly hate to beg, but these are unusual times and I find myself in a difficult position. I continue to look for work but could use some help until things get better. Anything you could send would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Hello, my name is Tony Martinez and I am a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. I am part of the burgeoning outlaw country music scene here in Arizona. I have recently acquired a great opportunity to record an album with 2 time Grammy award winning producer Larry Butler. He believes in my music and wants to record an album with me. the only problem is there's costs involved. I have to pay the studio, engineer, musicians and mixing and mastering and duplication. Basically the whole package. this is how the business works nowadays due to the crappy economy. It will cost around 15 to 20k. I know in these days not many people have an extra 20k laying around but I have no other means to raise these kind of funds necessary to complete this project. When we finish this album, he will take it to all the major labels in Nashville to get a record deal seeing as he wont make any profit unless he sells it. If you are willing to invest in me and my career I can promise that once we get a record deal that you will be fully reimbursed and will receive a huge thanks on the album. There's no doubt in my mind that this will work. I will break through the monotonous sound coming out of Tennessee and have songs on the charts. this is my time and i just need a way to get there. thank you for your time and hopeful consideration.
She was a nationally certified paralegal and he was an IT Admin for a fortune 500 company. One day in early 2008, Carolyn had a seizure at work and was takin to the emergency room. They called Don at work and he went straight there. They were informed that she had a gioblastoma, a brain tumor. Don lost his job in mid-2008; he suspects it was because of the mounting healthcare costs his employer was incurring because of his wife's illness. They had to use their modest retirement savings to maintain medical coverage that soon ran out but fortunately Carolyn recovered. Fast forward 2 years. After undergoing surgery, radiation and chemo, Carolyn is now doing well. Although she can't work anymore, she collects a small SS disability claim. Don does odd jobs fixing computers and making handmade jewelry, which he sells at the local flea market.
I know this because Carolyn called me crying. I thought long and hard before posting this, but I had to. Carolyn and Don are my parents.
Please, please help them, even if its a small amount.
Thank You.

Carolyn and Don are great people. They need a hand.

Hello, I need to purchase my 11 year old son A robotics kit for school. He is in the schools RoboLab program. The school normally buys the kits and sells them at discount to the kids. Due to the cuts in the budget the program is not being funded any more by the district and is now a "parent funded program" with the exception of in class materials and teacher. The kids that wish to compete outside of school need there own kit. So, there you have it. I need to buy the boy his kit. Kits are 425.90 from lego education. I am a hard working mom who pays my bills and provides for my son. I just don't have alot for extras and this is an extra ... If you could help i would greatly appreciate it and so would my son.

My father died 24 years ago and my mother, trying to keep us from experiencing another change, kept the 5 of us in the house that they had built together by taking out second mortgages when she ran low on money for bills. Her house is under contract now and she stood to make less than $5000 on the sale due to all of the borrowing against the house. She had her septic system inspected yesterday, and was told that she needs a new system, which could run anywhere from $20,000 to $40,000. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the money. She cannot afford to retire unless she sells the house, and she can't sell the house unless she replaces the septic system. She is approaching 70 and has worked hard as the single mother of 4 for a long time. I don't expect that I will come even close to getting the amount of money that she needs, but I hope that someone who is in a position to help will read this and realize that she needs a break. Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a wonderful day!

Donate for Yoda Cat's wheelchair

Hi, I’m Yoda the cat. I was abandoned by the roadside and met with an accident and am paralyzed from my bottom half. Fortunately, I was adopted by a loving family and was nurtured back to good health.

However, I can’t perform my usual activities. Crawling on the ground sometimes cut my knees, and I have troubles crossing drains, or going up small curbs.

I've recently found a company in the US that sells wheelchairs for animals like me. Please donate to my wheelchair.

Hi My name is Michelle and my family really needs ...

Posted by 0 on 2010-02-12 01:58:58

Hi My name is Michelle and my family really needs your help! We are about to lose our house and be homeless. We have two children ages 9 and 17. I can't bear the thoughts of them not having a home. I can't imagine looking into my little girls eyes and telling her that she won't have a place to live anymore, of tell my son that we will be living on the streets. I just really pray that that won;t happen. There have been several reasons that have brought about this horrible situation that we are in: 1) My husband works for himself and sells his products to home builders, and with the construction business the way it is now, he has had hardly any business since last October. He hasn't gotten a paycheck in two months. We can't pay our bills, especially our mortgage and home equity loan. We also had to get on foodstamps, which I really hated to do. He has been looking daily for a second job but he can't find one. 2) I can't find another job except the commission only sales type job that I have now. I don't get paid any money unless I sell new roofs. It's hard to make any money from sales in this economy, and so some weeks I don't get a paycheck. 3)My husband tried to start a new business last year with a man that he met. The man talked my husband into taking out a home equity loan against our house to front this new commercial tile installation business. The man was working at a big reputable company where he bid on commercial jobs, and supposedly was very experienced at this. My husband trusted him, and he ripped us off. He maxed out all of our credit cards ($80,000.00 worth) and used up all of our home equity funds ($120,000.00 more). Then he left town in the middle of the night, leaving my husband with all of the bills. Now, we have bad credit (which we have never had before), and we are about to lose our house. We are a Christian family, and we having been praying for some kind of help for our problem. My husband and I are really scared. Can you please help us? We would really appreciate any help that you could give us. We just really don't want to see our kids suffer and be homeless. Thank you so much!!! You can send any donation to Michelle at this address: 3651 Tradition Drive, Gainesville, GA 30506
