Our Home is slipping away... Please HELP now!
Posted by buyahome on 2012-05-17 13:58:58
As the housing bubble collapsed, my family and I could see the coming recession and its fall out coming. While my wife has a steady and secure job, and I ran a successful public relation business, we could not chance getting caught in the down pour of bad lending and foreclosure we saw coming. That was our last smart move.
As the recession, I might argue depression spread across the country and our town equally, like so many others, we found ourselves affected in ways we didn't see coming. My business began to fail, losing client after client to hard economic times, until those few clients who were left were asking for reduced costs, some even asking to keep services coming though they can not pay at this point. I have tried to oblige. I continue to serve many clients in trying to promote their products and services "pro-bono" so they can eek out a living in these times.
My wife has been great through all this. She works a steady "day job" to barely meet our monthly rent and bills.
We have tapped every credit card, and can't pay their monthly bills and fees. We have ruined our credit, believing if we could hold back the storm, and continue to help those we serve, we would be alright on the other end.
NOW, as home prices are finally in reach, we find that we can no longer qualify for the loan that would get us, and our five sons into a new home. With home costs once nearing and surpassing $200K, we can now buy the perfect home for $50K. That's what we're asking for now: $50K!! Banks, once far too anxious to give loans for over-priced homes to people who could not afford them, now turn us away for a much more reasonable loan that would actually lower our monthly expenses by almost 1/2. We now watch as wealthy investors snatch up the homes once financed by real families and foreclosed on. But in the time it takes to rebuild the credit we need to get financed, these moguls will have all of the properties and be renting them out to all of us who could not hope to own under these terms.
So we turn to YOU! A generous stranger, who can help make our dream come true. YOU can donate a small portion of this expense, and help us to make this dream come true. We are setting a goal of $50K, and hoping to beat the tide of greedy investors from owning what could be our new home. As we get closer to our goal we will use some of the thoughtful contributions we receive to repair the credit we have forfieted, so we might get the funding we need on our own through a bank. IF this happens, and we exceed donations needed, then we will donate the remaining funds to others on Begslist.com, including to the Begslist.com creator to continue to help neighbors help neighbors ... because we all need help sometimes!

Couple seeking support while attending College
Posted by Pendragon on 2012-05-03 15:58:25
My wife and I are in need of a Camper to live in. After our 3 year struggle, and a whole lot of self reflection, we are prepared and motivated to create a life that is self sustaining and rewarding. Our goals are well defined and our dedication unmeasurable. We will both be attending College in July, and are homeless until then. For the past 2 years, we have maintained our safety by volunteering for state parks in return for a free place to stay...in our tent. Work has been more then scarce, at present we live on food stamps and love. A camper would provide us with a more stable, structured and secure environment while we attend our schooling. Any additional help is appreciated. Thank you.

Extended Family In Need
Posted by Gladys on 2012-05-02 02:58:37
First, the reason I chose this method. I was feeling frustrated one night after being asked to work another fund raiser. While there is no doubt that the family is very much in need their financial security was markedly better than my own. I was wondering why it seemed that it was always people who already had some means at their disposal who got that kind of sympathy and help. Obviously I was feeling self centered but still the thought remained, what kind of resources were there out there for people like me, people barely above poverty level and struggling to keep from going under. So...I started searching the internet and came across references to "begging" online. I was shocked, I was appalled...I was hopeful. The anonymity of it was a big plus.
Feeling so hopeless, and out of control is very frightening for me. I work with the public. The street people call me Smiley because I try to always stay upbeat while at work and they know that if I can I will always help them with a dollar or two when they need it. There are many people ( even those who are only a few years younger than my 55) who call me Mom and have come to me for assistance both emotionally and financially. I have two adult children of my own and many more that have come through my household and are a part of my family even though they are not related biologically. I send my own Mother money a couple times a month. She lives on a fixed income that doesn't even cover here cost of living. I can no longer afford these things but I don't know how to cut off the aid to others even though I, myself, am in need of aid.
My husband and I come from poor families and were determined to make a better life for our own children. Since we both only had high school educations neither one of us are in well paying jobs but we have always managed to survive and our children never had to worry about whether Mom and Dad were going to be able to feed and clothe them. But things have gotten progressively worse this year.
I tried to start a small business in order to provide my oldest grandchildren and one of my children with a secure job and something meaningful to do. Trying to keep them out of the "system" and teach them to have self respect, and trying to provide a means for them to have financial security. But the business never picked up and we were funneling money into it...my daughter lost her husband and we were also supporting her household. The financial strain has put us in debt that we cannot pay. Our cars have broken down, there are three running vehicles for six drivers to use getting to work and looking for work but no money to repair or replace them. My daughter and her children are living in my home, having lost theirs, and my husband and I are staying with my youngest and her family. Her husband was recently laid off and she is expecting her second child. My husband had to have surgery and that put him off work for six weeks, and now in order to keep his job we have to somehow pay for hearing aids ($3000 for the least expensive ones). Although it is hard we have stuck together and are helping each other as best we can.
The problem is that I see no end in sight. Just the electric bill is $6oo a month thru the winter months. Fuel is outrageous. Food for this many people (5 adults, 3 late teens, and 3 small children) is very expensive in this state. Mortgage payments, gas for cars, and phones...these are things everyone has to pay. I know there are many who are far worse off than I, at least we still have roofs over our heads. But the output is so much higher than the income and each month, each WEEK, sees me feeling a little more desperate. How will I, will we, end up? Will we all be living on the street next year? The interior of Alaska is no climate for the homeless. I don't know what it will take to make this better, to make my family secure but I hope there is help out there for us.
a last ditch attempt...

I recently left an abusive partner after several years, the relief is undescribable. Unfortunately during the relationship i was naive enough to take on the majority of his debt. I have managed to secure myself a new place to stay however im now drowning in bills from my old accomodation i shared with him. Im stuck between paying for my new place (and thus securing my freedom and new life) and clearing what i owe on the old place and being free of the past.
I cannot afford to do both, and im in real trouble if i do not pay off bills from the old place.
So im begging you good people for help, i hope that someone out there can help me.
Many thanks for your time reading this post

I am a single mother. I have one child and one on the way. I am out of work and almost homeless. My baby is due in two months and we have no where to go. Well I did secure an apartment but the landlord is in need of the deposite and next months rent. I have went to try to get government assistance and got turned down if you can believe that. I am currently a student taking online classes but I am getting no stipend money back to help me out. Once I have my child I am sure I can find some work and then I'll be okay. I really need help to get me and my family through the next 3 months. Anything will do. Thanks a lot!

This is one donation you will give that you will know goes to the right place!
My husband and I are a 30 year old couple. We moved to NY State to start a life together - and did not plan to have children right away until we were financially secure.
My husband is a computer technician and he tries his best to support myself and our new addition.
Obviously our priorities have changed - and while it was easy to skimp during hard months when it was just the two of us, skimping on our babies health and education is simply something we can not live with.
Saving for college is something that we have tried to start doing immediately - since there is no way we would be able to afford it otherwise.
Having to choose between putting money into his NY 529 or buying healthier food is tearing us up.
Any donations to this listing will go directly into his 529 account. This will help ease our debt and allow us to get the proper food and clothing he needs.
In this hard economy, any donation is extremely appreciated - even 99 cents!
God Bless.
PS - as an after thought - any donations are tax write-offs.
