College Tuition

Posted by Elise21 on 2012-05-15 15:58:46

I come from a low class family with no way to pay for college. I have applied for fafsa and scholarships but as you know scholarships are not guaranteed and federal grants are continually getting smaller.

I love America and the smell of freedom and I want to help others in need, that's why I aspire to be a certified registered nurse anesthesiologist. I admit I am not the best student but I am hardworking and I promise your contribution to my education will not go to waste !!!

I ask for money to further my education even if it's a penny I am truly grateful for it ! I Thank You in advance and may you be blessed in return !

Deserving Musical Miracle

Posted by GuitarMom on 2012-05-08 23:58:23

I am seeking help to pay for my son's college tuition and associated fees. My son has been accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. It is an honor for anyone to be accepted to this esteemed institution, however my son's story is quite exceptional. When he was 10 years old, he nearly lost his right arm due to a post-surgical bleed. He was diagnosed with a bleeding disorder known as von Willebrands. He has been left with a disabled arm and hand. He only has use of his thumb on his right hand. His childhood was comprised of surgeries and infusions. When he was 12 years old, he asked if he could buy a guitar. He was so happy because he had seen Tommy Emmanuel playing guitar with a thumb pick on television. He purchased the guitar and began working on a technique to play. He can only use his thumb to pick the guitar strings and must hold his fingers in a special position so that he does not mute the strings. His goal since age 12 has been to study at Berklee. It is an honor to be accepted to such a fine school. Despite a severe disability he has been able to achieve this remarkable goal. Financing his education is going to be extremely difficult. Berklee is an expensive college and scholarships seem scarce. If you know of any scholarships that would be available for him please let me know. If you feel like you want to donate, it is much appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.

My future depends on finishing this associates degree

Posted by Sikhindu on 2012-04-29 14:58:39

I saved up enough money for school but now it turns out I don't have money for living expenses. I get a work permit in November 2012, but by then I won't have any money for next year. The expenses for each of the two years is $17,000, and I saved up just for one year. I need help in making ends meet. I have been looking for work on campus and it's not working out since I was told to wait until August and September for cleaning jobs and restaurant jobs at the school. All the tutoring jobs I have applied for on campus have not materialized so far.

If I do not finish this school, it is over for me. I spent many years in the US in school since 2001, and it resulted in nothing because they didn't give me a work permit, and they did not allow me to stay.I got two bachelors degrees from there but since I did not have citizenship or a green card, I had to leave.

If I finish school here in Canada, I will get a three year work permit, and I can finally be useful to myself and my family. I need to pay back money that I owe my uncle for paying for my primary and secondary education back home in the third world. I need to educate, or at least pay for my niece and nephew who are orphaned to go to college. I need to take care of my sick mother, I have been unable to do that so far because I had to pay for my education in the US out of pocket.

I have other on going problems such as loss of sight in one eye but then that is something to be dealt with when I finally finish school, it is not as urgent as getting the money to pay for school. No matter how badly everything else is going, even with my mom being sick and my being unable to send her money for treatment, school comes first even though ideally it should not be that way.

I have been involved in community service for many years. I worked with DC Habitat for Humanity on a house construction project. I also worked with refugees from 2010 to 2011 before I had to leave the US, I was tutoring English through International Rescue Committee. I am currently working with the Food Bank where I am, and over summer since I will have no on campus jobs, I plan on getting more volunteer jobs so I can give back to the community. Canada has given me so much, a chance at self improvement, so it's only natural that I want to say thank you to this great country.

I am not scared of working, infact when I was in the US I worked full time while going to school full time. I do not want to violate the student visa here in Canada because Canada is a kind country for immigrants and they will definitely give me the work permit come November 2012, as long as I do not work illegally before then.

I am planning to move out of my homestay right now and rent with schoolmates in order to minimize my expenses. I do not usually even eat things like meat, milk, eggs, all of which I do not like or I am allergic to. So I do know how to save money. I learned to live on very little while in the US so I need money to pay for my education so that I can maintain my student visa.

Please help, my family cannot afford to pay for my education, I do not have citizenship from a developed country to qualify for financial aid or scholarships, the scholarships from back home are mostly for those doing masters degrees and PhDs, I'm doing an associates degree right now. They also insist that you must not have already left the country before they give you the scholarship. I will be applying for scholarships in the schoool, and also some bursary from my government which might be only $500, and that is only if I can get someone back home to bribe someone in the Ministry of Education to get that bursary.

I have tried all ways to improve my life for many years, and this time education truly will be a key to improving my life. I am not a stranger to subjecting myself to medical experiments in order to earn more money to pay for school. I need help this time around, this is my last try at improving my future. Going back home will be a disaster since I do not have tall relatives (people with influence) to get me jobs. What's the point of my adding myself to the millions who are dependent on others for help?

Any amount which can be sent to my Paypal account will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Can't use FAFSA, Grants, or Federal Monies

Posted by Future-Engineer on 2012-04-24 23:58:19

Background:

I was born in Argentina, but have lived in Texas since I was 5. I had no say in it; my parents decided that’s what was best for me since Buenos Aires was so crime-ridden. I graduated high school like normal kids, went to a community college right afterwards, and worked part time to cover its costs. I got an Associate’s in Science (Nursing) and then dropped out since I couldn't afford to attend a university nor decide on a major. My GPA was a 3.4 at the time.

I'm now 25, working full time (Geek Squad, can’t do much with an associate’s), studying electrical engineering, married to my high school sweetheart, and have my goals set! I just have one thing holding me back...MONEY. Since I backtracked when I changed majors, I had a few sophomore classes to take. I'm finishing them at the same community college, and I'm registered for the Fall semester at the University of Texas at Dallas (Junior level courses). I have gotten nothing but As since I've been back!

Why I Need Your Help:

Now, you may be wondering, why can't I use FAFSA? Well, I recently obtained my permanent residence. That was a big roadblock growing up. One of the agreements I had with our nation was that I would not use federal funds (welfare, food stamps, grants, FAFSA, etc) for the next 10 years. I work full time and attend as many classes as I can per semester; I have no time for lollygagging.

Sallie Mae can only loan me so much, and banks nowadays make it very difficult to borrow from for school. All the scholarships I’ve looked for require either citizenship or full time enrollment, neither of which I am. (Can’t enroll full time because I need to work full-time to make ends meet) My father is a construction worker and I don’t know my mom, she left us when I was 7. I just sold my laptop on eBay and made myself a cheap one from recycled parts. I've tried getting internships, but I'm not deep enough into my career to be eligible yet. Nearby family members don’t have any spare cash, and don’t make enough to co-sign a loan for me….So I’m here, hoping some kind strangers can help me out.

I am a hard working student, good Samaritan, bilingual, a jokester, drug-free, do calculus in my head, pay taxes, 740 credit score, and drive a broken down Pontiac. My only goal right now is to finish school with flying colors as soon as possible; just need this financial roadblock to meet a wrecking ball.

Will you help me smash it down?

Need Money For College

Posted by justpaige1993 on 2012-04-24 15:58:29

I am a very hard worker. I have two jobs and completly support myself. As a 19 year old, I obviously want to go to college. I am enrolled to start in June, but I have no extra money saved up. I did have a college fund, but over the years I have used it to help pay for things like a year abroad in another country to help with my langauge. I was under the impression that this would help me gain scholarships, but in fact, it did not.
Any little donation will help. And I appreciate it greatly.

Help For College

Posted by NNeed on 2012-04-16 00:58:06

I am in need of financial assistance. My daughter has been accepted to college. I am a single parent. I divorced my ex-husband when she was four years old. Although her father lives in the same city as us, he does not consistently help me financially. I have worked really hard over the years despite being a single parent. Unfortunately, last year I was laid off from my job due to downsizing. I really want my daughter to attend college. She has worked hard in high school. She is ranked in the top ten percent of the students. She is 6 out of 300. I have tried getting scholarships because financial aid is based on my income from last year when I was working. The scholarships are not enough. I really need some help. Please donate to help her go to college.

All Cried Out...

Posted by PsychologyStudentInNeed on 2012-03-09 23:58:29

Hello There,

I am a Psychology student at an accredited college in Pennsylvania. I am in my final year and have learned that I am one credit course short from receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I need to go to Summer School to complete the final course, but do not have the funds available, nor do I have any more loan options. The course with text book rentals will be $2,857.50. I have tried to earn scholarships, but none have been granted. There is always some in more need. I hate having to do this, but this is the only option left for me.

My parents are barely making ends meet, and have gone without just to help me finish school. I implore anyone with a heart to help me. I walk to my school and see the homeless and needy asking for spare change beside the road and have given a dollar or two when I could. The roles are now reversed, only no one seems to be willing to extend a helping hand. Please help me.

I thank you in advance for reading my plea.

Islamic Religious Studies Funding

As-salamu Alaikum my BROTHER & Sister in Islam, I am Muslim male, living in Liberia, WestAfrica. I am aspiring to become a Muslim Scholar, but the learning opportunity is not here in my country. And I don't have money to study abroad. So I am kindly asking you to help me for scholarships in Islamic religion studies. Even though I don't have the money, but I am willing to travel anywhere for that purpose if I am giving financial support only for Islamic Religion studies. I am presently head of Dawah for a local Non Government Islamic organization. My intention is to advance my studies in Islam in order to come back home to teach others like myself who do not have the opportunity to travel abroad for studies.

Help Send Me to College

Posted by Laain on 2012-02-04 22:58:59

The college I want to go to is pretty much my dream college! It’s so
awesome! It has the best Vet program in my state if not the only
program in my state. It’s most likely the only college that offers
actual vet Med and not just the per-requirements in my state. Their vet
program is what first got me interested in my sophomore year of college.
I got to looking at it and it became the school I most wanted to go to.
It just seems like a really good fit for me. I would really really love
to go here! It has everything I would need. i cannot for the life of me
find another college I would rather go to, but even if I did I would
still need to do this to raise money for my college fund because as you
all know tuition prices are rising every year and it’s getting more and
more expensive to go. I’m 22 now and would really like to get started on
my college career. I’ve been to community college with the help of a
pell grant, but that just isn’t going to cut it. I really have to go to a
university to further my career. I don’t want to be waiting around too terribly long to be
graduating college or even really getting started good. It would mean
the world to me to get to go to college sometime in the near future. My
mental health also rides on going. I’m depressed because I’m not going
and I see what others in my high school graduating class have
accomplished and well it depresses me too because I’m no where near
getting close to getting a job in my field of study. Where as they have
finished school and working in their field or is in the internship
phase. Either way I’m ready to get started on truly accomplishing my
dreams and getting a career. I do not want to end up like my parents and
grandparents and have no college degree even though I want one. I want
to do something they didn’t and what they told me to do if I could and
If I wanted too. If you click the links you can help me get closer to
this goal well dream really.

Well anyway the cost of the college is $25,000 a year, but this doesn’t
include professional costs which will be closer to $40,000 for Vet Med.
Though I’m only looking to get $25,000 for right now. I’ll just want to at least get to go for one year.

Tuition and fees for year are $8,698, Books and Supplies
would be around $1,100, Room and Board will be around $9,992, Other that
they charge will be around $5,166. I should get a pell grant, but I’m
not sure I may not but that will most likely only pay $2,000 if I’m lucky $3,000. I’ve applied to scholarships, but I don’t stand out so I’ll be lucky to even get one if that. With my luck I won’t get one. So I’ll still need a good bit.

So as you can see it will be very
expensive. I will greatly appreciate anything you donate to help me
afford to go to college. I know I most likely won’t get the amount I’m
going for, but I hope to
get most and try to keep from having to take out huge loans.

I don’t to have a huge debt coming out of college if I can help it.

Just one dollar will help.

The college I’m planning on going to is Auburn University and I have been accepted.

Leaving for Colombia in 29 days!!

Posted by crauschenbach on 2012-01-05 00:58:46

Last January I was fortunate enough to travel to the country of Nicaragua with a group called Witness for Peace. On this two week adventure I was able to learn about sustainable development, economics, and agricultural practices. I met economists, political journalists, community leaders, and members of the U.S. Embassy. I spent each day on tours and educational trips attending lectures and presentations designed to inform the group about the real Nicaraguan way. I even stayed with a coffee farming family living in the rural mountainside. My trip to Nicaragua was a life changing experience that has opened my eyes to the magnificent cultures in this world, and has allowed for my own personal development on a very deep level. This trip would have been impossible if not for the fact that it was able to be transformed into a study abroad trip through my university, and therefor additional funding and scholarships were able to pay my way.
This February I have been so lucky to be invited to attend another delegation! This time the trip is to the cities of Cali and Bogota in the country of Colombia, one of the most beautiful and ecologically diverse parts of South America. Here I have the opportunity to spend time with rural Afro-Colombians and to learn about the women in positions of leadership who have helped support and strengthen their communities. Unfortunately because of the travel warning between the United States and Colombia, my school will not approve this trip as a study abroad experience. Instead, I found a professor who is willing to facilitate an independent study, where I can still earn course credit for the trip. Unfortunately, because it is not considered a study abroad program, I am ineligible to receive additional funding or scholarship money through the school.
Traveling is my passion and engaging in new cultures is incredibly fulfilling for me. Please help me accomplish my goals and follow my dreams!

Need Money for Reliable Car

Posted by birdie on 2011-12-11 20:58:13

I'm the second-born daughter in a family of four children, and I'm trying to put myself through an expensive college. I've already had to take out large school loans (even though I've received scholarships)and can't take out more for a reliable car. But I need money to buy a car to get me to school and home (it's a 3 hour drive). I'm working two work-study jobs, but it's barely enough to get me by as it is. I can't ask my family for money; they're already spread pretty thin. I have my eye on a 2007 Honda Fit for just under $8,000. Please help. I can't promise that I will help you individually in return, but I do promise that I will help others when my finances are stable.

Short Term and Long Term Help.

Posted by justneedtheboots on 2011-12-09 17:58:03

Hello all ladies and gentlemen. I am in need of whatever kind of help I can get. I am a young full-time college student, and I'm trying to pull myself up by my own bootstraps so to speak. I grew up in a crowded house with my mom, grandma, great-grandma, uncle, and little sister. I didn't grow up with much money, but I always had what I needed. As I got older my family's financial worsen as the adults started dying off. All of the adults contributed to this pot, and when we lost an adult we lost contributions that were detrimental to our livelihood. Meanwhile I was a stellar student and had aspirations outside of my living conditions. This sometimes didn't float well with my family, and it showed in their actions often. I realize now, that they probably didn't want me to discover how disappointing it is when you hit and miss. I feel like that happened to them often.
I realize this is a long story, but maybe this background information can help you understand why I am asking for what I am asking. I think I am from the first (or one of the first) generations where college was thrown down everyone's throats. We're the classic Barney, Arthur, and Sesame Street kids. I don't know if the Baby Boomers were as forced as we are. After all, this is suppose to lead to upward mobility. I was fed that if I did not take this route, then I would be destined to poverty and an uncertain future. I realize now this future is even more uncertain than what I was expecting it to be. I've learned that a college degree doesn't guarantee certainty, and that you actually need quite a bit of help just to get through.
I am and have been own my own since I started college 3 years ago. Forget not having the extra money when I need at times. I don't have a strong support system, and my house at home is almost unlivable now. I do not have my license or a car because no one practiced driving with me, and I can't afford to pay for driving school, the car, and the insurance to get me started. I got tired of having to leave campus and figuring out where I was going next and how I was going to get there, so I found a student friendly apartment. It's nice to not have to move because I usually don't have help, but I am struggling to keep it. I am desperately seeking work in whatever kind of way I can have it. I get full financial aid, but it's hard to stretch 2 refund checks over an entire year.
I'm finally getting to the point. I currently live and study in Greensboro, NC. I am a dean's list engineering student. I learn most things quickly, and I am not afraid of real work. I need a full-time job or a part-time one that will give me 20 hours + a week. I would prefer 2nd or 3rd shift, but if I have to take a break from school to get myself together I will. I will take any resources that can give me some good leads on scholarships, internships, fellowships, and co-ops. Lastly I will take any financial help I can get while I'm waiting on the others. I feel like all of these things will help me get to a more manageable point in my life. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Trying to stay in school!

To whom it may concern,

I have recently began college at Arizona State University and have had trouble paying tuition on my own. My mother passed away from breast cancer when I was three years old and my dad literally has given me $0 for tuition, food, or any support since I have gotten here in July. I go to class day after day wondering if I am going to be kicked out of the school and my dream of graduating as a business communications major is ruined. I have tried scholarships and private loans, but my dad has taken credit cards and other fraud in my name. Any amount will help!!!!! Thank you.

Teacher trying to Pay for Education

Posted by jdevoe on 2011-10-19 08:58:38

I have reached the end of my rope. Since I was 5 years old, I have wanted to teach. But now that I am out in the field, I am barely making ends meet and have defaulted on my student loans. I got as many scholarships to pay for it as I could, but still have about $25,000 to pay back. I taught high school and junior high for 3 years, barely making above minimum wage even though I had a salary. I had no benefits with my teaching either and a emergency visit to the hospital put me even more behind. I am now working 2 jobs trying to keep myself afloat with a 12 year old car that breaks down, loan payments, plus just regular expenses. I am going to try and get a 3rd part time job if possible, but I don't know if I will be able to. Any help is appreciated.

Need Textbooks for School

Posted by maverick777 on 2011-10-16 18:58:57

I am an 18 (soon to be 19) year old student at a state university in the Midwest. I am currently enrolled at this school through scholarships and a few grants, as my academic performance was sufficient enough to take advantage of these. However, I'm still about $450 short and have only been able to afford two textbooks this year. I still need about three more. I am majoring in Chemical Engineering and we are approaching midterm for this first semester, therefore I need those textbooks more now than before. ANYTHING HELPS. Thank you for looking, and donations are very, very much appreciated.

Need Help for school and home

I am a single mom of two teenage children, I was unemployed for over a year and finally found a part time job at a local store. I applied and was accepted at a local college to try to get enough education to find a better job to support my children and to get us back on track. Unfortunately, the grant was not enough to pay for my books. Need help getting the rest of my books and my children are in need of clothing. They are very humble and never complain about anything, which is really something for teenagers, I am very proud of them. They are working really hard in school to try to get scholarships so they won't be in the same boat that their mom is in. Anything will help. Thanks for reading my story and for any help you can give.

NEED HELP so bad . . .

Posted by kaatjinx on 2011-07-23 16:58:05

I NEED MONEY FOR SCHOOL! $7,500. After managing an office for 5 years, I got laid off. For over a year. Lost nearly everything and had to go bankrupt. Yes I did. So I finally get a job and I'm barely covering rent. Had to take my car off the road cause I can't afford the insurance. Taking the bus. I'm working a second job on the weekends and I got accepted into the online Histotechnology program at the Medical University of India. It's online and my employer is going to let me do the clinical stuff at work. And once I'm done I'll have a job! Finally a job that is over 20,000 a year.

Here is the catch. I have no tuition benefits. I'm maxed on my undergraduate federal loans and, like I said, I went bankrupt last year. No one will loan me the money.

I've won 2 scholarships from the New York State Histotechnolgical Society but it doesn't even cover my books.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me help myself!!!!

Completely desperate

Posted by chibiflamey on 2011-06-21 22:58:13

This is my last resort.
I'm 25 and I graduated college with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology last year, and like most people, have had trouble finding a good job. Unfortunately, I also graduated with $60,000 in student loans and almost $8,000 in credit card debt.
So I decided to go back to college again for Dental Hygiene. I was rejected from all of the schools I applied to, but then one college called me back last week, saying that there was an opening in their Dental Hygiene program.
Now my parents have been on my case about NOT getting into a Dental Hygiene program for months, because according to them I didn't try hard enough to get in. Granted, I'm not a 4.0 GPA student, but a 3.6 is a great GPA and I am a very good student.
Anyways, now that I've gotten into a program, they don't want me to go because it's too far away (I'd only be moving 2 hours away) and they're refusing to cosign my loans (and since I have a Bachelor's degree already, I can't get any government help at all, so I absolutely need a loan. And my credit isn't good enough to get a loan on my own).
I have been trying to get scholarships, but I know that even if I get lucky and get a scholarship, it won't cover even half of the costs. I don't want my parents to keep me from improving my life and actually getting a good career, but right now, I'm not sure what I can do. I'm quite broke, and I have no way of paying for Dental Hygiene out of pocket.
On top of that, I have my current debt to worry about, and I just feel like I'm drowning in it. I don't know who else to turn to. My family has turned their backs on me, and I am desperately alone and afraid. If anyone could help me out, even a little, that would be amazing.

Dreams are high, Funds are low.

Hello! My name is Kayla, Im 18 years old and will soon be attending New York Film Academy July 6th. I will be attending for the year acting program. Which for the whole year will cost $30,000. I recently have applied for FASFA earning the full amount of $11,500. I also auditioned for the school for their talent based grant. They told me less then 20% of students actually receive anything. So my probability was low, unless the school really believed I have a gift. Which they did! However that will only award me 5,000. I have been trying with so many scholarships, and before I start applying for loans, I want to get as much help as possible. I never grew up with a father so dad is out of the question and my mom supports me and my two sisters making 10/hr. So thats out as well. I would ideally like to raise 15,000-20,000. I know that is alot to ask for and I will gladly accept any money that is given to me and be more then appreciative! Thank you so much and have a great day!

I am a junior psychology major, human development minor attending Howard University. Thus far, school has had its ups and downs. However, I have been able to maintain an acceptable grade point average of 3.46 and a position on the Dean’s Honor Roll. My mother is a struggling single parent of two, living on Unemployment benefits. With the cost of living and rise in the economy, paying my tuition is impossible for her to manage. This financial burden is hampering my abilities to achieve. The thought of having such an outstanding balance in all of my living expenses worries me. With no way of paying these expenses, I think about the possibility that I might have to withdraw from Howard University and go back home. It angers me to know that I am so close to accomplishing my goals and the only thing holding me back is money.
I have been applying for many scholarships, some have been beneficial others not so much. The scholarships that I have received have barely paid for my tuition each semester. Unfortunately I cannot take out a loan because I need a cosigner and my mother is the only one willing to cosign a loan for me. Unfortunately, my mother is not eligible to be a cosigner. I have contacted many different public offices in hopes that they would be able to help with my past due rent and living expenses. However, most of the programs that are offered require the applicants to either have a child or a person over 65 years old in the household. I have tried contacting the provost of my university to see if there is anything that I can do to get extra funding; they suggested work study. However, trying to maintain work study is conflicting with my class schedule. Work study is usually over by 5pm and my classes are also during this time.
With that said, I am seeking sponsorship or any contributions towards my endeavors. If you are unable to contribute, but are aware of other resources that would be of interest, please contact me. I assure you that these contributions are for a good cause. It will allow me to my tenure at Howard University and further my career as a neuropsychologist. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanking You In Advance
