My husband, who is a Vietnam vet, passed away recently (October 8th, 2011) from Bone and Lung Cancer at home. First of all, he wanted to spend the rest of his life home with me and our pets (three Mini Dachshunds and two kitties). Also, the VA wouldn't be able to control his pain enough so that he could enjoy the remainder of his life so he went under Hospice care. They strive for quality of life and they were amazing.

The problem with that was that when you die at home, the VA covers nothing at all. Had he died in the VA they would've covered his funeral expenses. We didn't have life insurance. He had started a policy, but the bill for the first payment came in on Monday, the 10th. He died Saturday the 8th.

He died here at home and then was placed in the funeral home morgue until we could come up with enough of a down payment for his funeral (I believe it was $2000.00) I still owe something around $5,000. He stayed in that morgue for around three weeks before we could gather up that money. Not a good way to treat a vet at all.

I had left my job to take care of and be with him until he died, this is what he wanted. We didn't have insurance or any kind of state medical help. We lived on his disability check that he received monthly. There are no survivor benefits, VA or Social Security I've been told either. We had only been married a year. We have been together since 2002, but got married Sept. 21, 2010. We had our first anniversary a couple weeks before he died. As far as I know, SS people have told me we must have been married for ten years in order to get any kind of survivor benefits.

We had sold our boat, truck, and spent any money that we had toward our living expenses and to help with down-payment on funeral.

Now, I'm back to work but it is part time, I make $7.50 per hour (sometimes as little as 20 hours every two weeks). Telephone survey taker. I don't qualify for state help other than food stamps.

I've been looking for work since he died and not getting any responses at all. I am on the Michworks website numerous times a day, every day besides checking the local papers, and any other things I can think of.

Right now as I write this, I am due to lose our home (we rented this for the last nine years). My rent was due on the first. I have borrowed money, sold household items, and gotten help from the area charity places that I could. Every month has been a struggle and every month I think "okay, I've gotten the rent paid this month and I SHOULD have a new job by the next time the rent is due", but sadly it is not working that way. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm beginning to lose faith. I absolutely cannot get rid of our pets either. I promised I would never let anything happen to them and I wont. Besides, they are our little ones, our family that we had together. They are also what is keeping me going. I cannot imagine life without them and him too.

I am at the end of my rope now. I didn't want to resort to this and it really is a blow but I don't know what else to do anymore.

I hope that there is someone out there that will read this and be able to help me somehow.

Okay, so here's the deal:

I live with my boyfriend and we had both just started new jobs, we're already late on rent and have NO gas or food at all and no money in our pocket because of so many things that just keep popping up in life :/ My bf got let go at work because he doesn't have a Texas ID yet, still another state ID. Which is lame because they didn't tell him anything about it at all until Saturday when he went to them to ask if he could go home from a bad headache. So yeah, very unprepared. I drive to and from work (which is already at least 20 miles away) on E on my tank, freaking out. . . it takes forever in my county to get any financial help at all, food stamps, etc etc, we have no money or food. Even $1 would help?! Paying off a LOT of debt -- hospital bills, rent, utilities.

Hello readers, My name is Misty, and over the last 6 months life has been getting quite difficult and over whelming. I am a single mother with 4 children, I lost my home a couple months ago, I was served with a 24hr eviction notice on a saturday night. Not knowing what to do on sunday except pack and move everything into storage. i sold my mobile home for only 500 to some guy who takes advantage of people like me. "in my position." the 500 was enough to cover storage for a month a truck to move everything and a motel room for a week. The worst part is after everything was moved out and on tuesday i called the main office to be told the 24hr eviction was a mistake and i can come back. lol i sold my home and the already broke it down and was shipping it to canada. I was forced to sell most of my valubles to keep up with the motel. on christmas eve i could no longer afford the motel rates and now we are living in my car which barely runs. My children were very sad christmas morning, My storage unit bill is past due, and now i may lose everything else. i found a house but cant afford security deposit. i have 3 girls and 1 boy, and we really need to get off the streets, and save are stuff in the storage unit. please help us. I'm currently a full-time student and has been disowned from my family leaving me with a 17,000 college tuition and no where to live. If I dont come up with $300 by Friday I will most likely be out on the street. My brand new roomate suddenly decides she needs to move back in with her needy mother and packed and moved her things while I was at work Saturday. After scouring the internet and calling literally every person I know, I have found a new roomate who can move in but she cant move in until January. In the meantime I still have to pay December's rent or I'm going to be out on the street. I needed to come up with $600 so I pawned my tv and took out a payday loan but I'm still $300 short. The only people I have here are my friends and they're financially in the same position I am so they dont have it to loan. I really need a miracle, I dont really know what else I can do. My mother's birthday was last Saturday (11/19), and I wanted to take her to see "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" and have lunch. But I didn't have any money. We've been struggling for a while, and the little money we make goes towards our gas/mortgage payments. It would really make her happy if she were able to see the latest "Twilight" in the theater instead of Redbox or Netflix.

My name is Rashmi and i am 26 years old. Few weeks ago my one year old baby suffered from Trauma and couldn't bear the pain. The accident happened on a Saturday afternoon and unfortunately my baby's Pediatrician was not available. Not sure what to do with the baby crying out so loud and in intense pain i thus rushed her to the nearest hospital in Roseville, CA.
The doctor's at Sutter Medical Hospital did not look at me for an hour and a half because may be they were busy?
But even after that they couldn't tell the reason my baby was crying for. She cried for 5 long hours without eating or drinking and yet they couldn't figure out what was wrong with her.
Her pediatrician finally gave a call only to tell that she will not be able to come-in to check me until the next day.
The doctor's finally asked us to stay at the hospital for the entire night. We were discharged the next day by giving a trivial reason that my 10 month old had some kind of infection in her right ear.

Few weeks later that is today, we got a bill from the hospital saying that we need to pay $3,209 immediately upon receipt.
I being the baby's Mom lost my job 2 years ago and haven't been successful in finding a new job. We even had to downsize our apartment and moved to the smallest available 1-Bedroom apartment few months ago. I work hard in the home to feed my baby home cooked that is cheaper than any formula and baby foods at Walmart. At the moment i don't see that i have any future amidst the dearth of this situation until someone is kind enough to help me out.
Can i rely upon you to help me out?

I have been unemployed and am about to lose everything I own that I have in storage, many of the things I have are things I have saved in there are things of my 2 daughters (age 12 and 17) There are a lot of things I could just replace someday but I cant replace the photo albums and school papers, drawings, awards etc that I have cherished and saved every year they were in school. Thank you for your time. Hello, I am 22 years old right now i am unemployed. I am Married to a beautiful young lady whom I love with all of my heart, that is 9months pregnant. but right now I feel like an incompetent husband, and i dont want to be a dead beat dad.
I started working for a local company where i would have been working 40hrs a week plus voluntary weekend overtime. after about a week working there My foreman asked me to work thie upcoming saturday. I had to decline due to the fact I was schedualed to minister at a neighboring county's Juvenile center. When I told him that i already had previous plans and let him know it was an every other weekend arrangment he replied to me " You can either Keep your Job or go off and Preach" Still I felt my ministry was more important. Then I went back to apologize to him to let him know i would be available the next weekend he told me that I shouldnt make plans like this because to work in this company you had to work weekends. When I told him the HR hired me with the understanding weekends were voluntary he said she should not have told me that and it wasnt true and the schedual was about to be changed to 7 days a week mandatory! The following day i met with the HR and she in a kind way told me that the information she gave me was partially correct. I in return told her (in a christian manner) that i had to respectfully give a resignation because there is no way i could work every weekend I was already only seeing my wife 1hr a day if that. I figured i could have another job in about 3 weeks and we could live off of the little bit of money for the month! now 2 months later i live with my parents in a 3 bedroom trailer. This is not the situation i want to bring my baby boy into! Right now my wife and I are taking a financial course yet have no money to manage! I am in debt up to my eyeballs and m y parents are just as stripped. I am humbly asking for someone to please help me! I promise i will pay my tithes and offering 1st. I am a father of four that was just let go from a very good paying job today because I took owner "approved" vacation to have surgery. After the vacation was approved and surgery scheduled, I was told by the owner that he was very unhappy by my decision to take vacation at this time. I explained to him that it wasn't just a vacation, that I was very sick and had to have the time off. He told me okay, that was different. I had surgery on Tuesday, got home from the hospital today (Saturday) and I had an email from the owner asking me to call when I felt better. I called him and he informed me I no longer had a job and asked me to turn in my keys when I felt up to it. Meanwhile, not only do I have cancer, but I also have bills, mortgage. car payments and a family to support. There's no doubt I will get through this, but we don't have any savings. I am begging for some help just in the interim so I can recover and get another job to support my family. Saturday I place my fiance in jail for domestic violence he was beyond drunk and was angry and frustrated about our financial situation. Although he is the bread winner of the house we are still struggling like most people today. I lost my job but was able to secure a part time job being a hostess but lets be honest 8.00/hr and 10-15 hr per week only really pays the gas. But I took it anyway something is better than nothing. My now ex-fiance not only lost me because I am a firm beliver of not sticking around to see if it happens again no matter of how long we have been together not only for my safety but for my kids, but I have now lost my way to pay rent for next month so I am trying to be pro active and sell what I can to come up with $1375.00. I am doing what I can aside from going to a strip clup and degrading myself. But it is what it is and I will do everything I have to to make sure my kids have a home to live in. I have never in my life had to do something like this and if it was just me I wouldn't I would suffer but I have 3 Kids 11,10 and 4. I was engaged to be married until Saturday night when my ex decided it was ok to get drunk beyond belief and thought it was ok to place me in a choke hold infront of my kids. Need less to say but I am standing my ground of put your hands on me once and you will never do it again because I will not be there. I had him arrested and filed restraining order.
