FEDS Knocking Down Door - Help Desperately Needed!!!

Posted by ThankfulReceiver on 2012-05-23 13:58:51

Just two weeks ago we got the word from the Feds that my daughter would have to begin paying off her education debt to the tune of $1,533.00 per month. This is to bring down a total debt amount of $200,000 + dollars.

Yes, that's $200,000 dollars!! What??? While they are working to determine if this is actually the amount owed, she still has to pay this money back starting on May 28, 2012.

Unfortunately, she is not a doctor, attorney, or any other vocation that allows her to have this kind of money to pay this humongous bill. She is a social worker who makes about $33,000 per year. Although she could seek to get another part-time job her current job does not allow her to do that. Her working hours are 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. many nights (with no overtime - that sucks!!). Last night she did not get home until midnight only to have to be back at work at 8:00 a.m. this morning.

I so want to help her but I am unable to do so at this time because I am retired and am receiving a very small fixed income. I am looking for work myself so that I can help out. In the meantime however, the first payment is due May 28 and I'm (we're) desperate to get some help.

So please, whatever you can share to help her in this dire need would be most appreciated. And, if there is someone who could pay one or two months forward on this, we would surely be forever grateful and thankful for your generous gift.

I will be adding my two cents worth just as soon as I get a job. In the meantime though, whatever you can send to help her pay this bill on Monday, May 28 would help to take some of the pressure off.

You see, if that money is not in the bank by then, they will garnish her next check which means that she won't be able to keep her place to live and her car to get to work. No car - no work. She lives in a rural area and has to drive to get to work. There is no public transportation available and the beat goes on. If she has No place to live - she then becomes a social worker in need of services herself. That would be messy and wouldn't allow her to keep her job. So whatever financial help you can provide will be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your generous heart and donations.

Disabled vet needs help with home

Posted by emr428 on 2012-05-23 10:58:48

My husband is a disabled, retired Army veteran. About 10 years ago he purchased a camp in Maine that he planned to fix up and move into for his retirement. Unfortunately he has suffered flood damage twice, once he had flood insurance, or thought he did, but the insurance company refused to pay saying they hadn't processed the payment on the day he opened the policy and the flooding occured over the weekend so he was not covered! The second flooding FEMA came in and didn't bother going under the house so they only gave him $800! Both times the flooding destroyed all the insulation and a great deal of work. He now has to jack up the house, have a foundation put in, then level everything in the house. He cannot live there. He applied for an equity loan from the bank as the property is valued at $139K and there is no mortgage. But we have moved to Nevada as I was offered a job here that paid better than back east. We want nothing more than to get this house fixed up in Maine so we can either sell it or possibly retire there. Right now if someone was willing to give an equity loan of $40,000, we would take that instead of begging. Please consider helping us before this Maine house gets flooded again and we lose everything there. If each person who reads this can only give $1, it wouldn't take long to reach our goal and then we could give back in the future!

Facing eviction

Posted by KatRob on 2012-05-15 08:58:44

I never thought that I would be in this position but I am begging and crying for help.

I am a retired military service member, my daughter is a 9 year honorable discharged veteran. We share a home with her 2 daughters.

Due a tax lien I was unable to pay my rent for April and now May.

Neither my daughter nor myself seems to qualify for all the vet assistance programs because we did not deploy to areas such as Iraq or Afganistan. We stayed home and took care of the family members of the personnel that did.

It hurts not to be able to take care of my family as I should.

Is there anyone out there that can please help.

Thank you for listening

Help with credit card and loan payment

Posted by richard65 on 2012-05-15 01:58:31

This situation has become a nightmare! I am 65 retired and slightly disabled due to a auto accident over a year ago. I have a hard time walking and this has me house bound most of the time. My wife is recovering from a stroke and taking care of her needs is a full time job. We barely exist on a meager social security income and several months ago I was forced to take out a payday loan just to keep the lights on. We maxed out our small credit card just to buy food and gas for our car and now every month we pay off the loan plus finance charges and then we have to take the loan out again the next day or else we cant pay our bills and buy food. With the credit card used up we have no where to turn for help. I know there are many who need help more than us, but if some kind person could lend a helping hand we will be able to pass the favor on to someone else in turn.

Prosthetic eye replacement

Posted by Cyclops on 2012-05-14 00:58:41

When I was a tween, I was hit in the eye with a baseball and lost sight in my right eye. Over the years, my eye has atrophied causing me to need a prosthetic eye, which is why I'm writing this. My provider has written a prescription for a new prosthesis, but Medicare hasn't approved the replacement. It has been over a month since the request was submitted. The ocularist doesn't accept Medicare so I will have to pay $5,600 for a new prosthetic eye outof my pocket. Please, if you can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I am retired and was widowed several years ago and have no one to help. I've been having headaches and and the eye pain will get worse with time. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Money for hospital bill

Posted by kotyj12 on 2012-05-12 09:58:39

I am a single mom living with my parents. I am helping out with the finances as much as I can. My sister is also living with my parents and is unable to find a job. She has 3 kids that are here sometimes. My other sister is graduating college (today) and has so far been unable to get a job. My mom is a retired school teacher and my dad is a soon to be retired farmer as he is no longer capable of the physical labor. As you can see money is VERY tight. My mom has had some major health problems and right now we have a $2300 hospital bill over our head as well as $130 in additional medical bills. She is diabetic and has recently been diagnosed with bleeding retinas and could go blind at any time. I am trying to get the money together to get the hospital paid off so we can take her to the Grand Canyon which has always been her dream.

Disabled woman needs money to pay utilities

Posted by helpmeplease54 on 2012-05-08 16:58:53

I am 57 yrs old and retired on disability. My roommate moved out and now I am stuck with everything. The electric company has informed me that I now need to switch the bill into my name BUT they are requiring a payment of $976.24 to do so; this includes a past due amount and a security deposit. I do not have this kind of cash on hand. My due date is 5/21/12 or the service here will be disconnected.
I am desperate. I have never been in a situation such as this before. I have numerous ailments and require electricity in order to take my daily breathing treatments. I have diabetes, severe asthma, fibromyalgia, arthtitis, and severe high blood pressure. No, I do not smoke, drink or use drugs. I don't even have a cell phone.
Any help you can offer would be very appreciated. Asking for financial help is the most difficult thing I have ever done.

Losing farm

Posted by reagolen on 2012-04-22 09:58:31

I have used all of my retirement funds, I have no family to help us. We need money to buyout the lease/land contract to save this farm. We have until June and then we will loose everything.

Since living here we have boarded senior/retired/special needs horses to give them a place to live out their lives with the special care they deserve.

We also kennel dogs and have helped dogs be rehabbed for rescues, I also have boarded dogs for people who have lost their homes till they could find a place to live.

I have a fourteen year old daughter and I am a single mother, this is my dream, to help animals and people and to live on a farm. I need help, I know no one in the position to help us.

My daughter and I have sacrificed everything to make this place work, we've even gone without food at times.

If we loose this place we have nowhere to go and nowhere to take our animals. If we were able to buy it because of the circumstances our monthly payment would be a lot less and we could be able to maintain the farm and keep helping people and animals.

We have horses here now that would not survive anywhere else, it's breaking my heart. If you can help God bless you.

Student in Need of Some Financial Help

Posted by cheart on 2012-03-13 00:58:10

Hi, my name is Cassia and I am a first year University student in Ontario. I am seeking some financial help, to assist me in paying my post-secondary tuition fees. I am currently working two part time jobs to support my rent and phone bills, but I have not been able to set aside very much money for my tuition ($10,000), seeing as rent is very expensive in this city.

I go to school out of town because it was one of the only three universities that offered my program (Foods and Nutrition). My father is retired and my mother works part time since he retired. They do not have enough money to help me out, even though they have offered me assistance in the past. I know that they would go broke if they tried helping to pay my tuition, and I would not want to put them in such a position.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and would help me out tremendously!!

Thank you for your consideration!

University Student Looking for Some Financial Help

Posted by cheart on 2012-03-12 23:58:43

Hi, my name is Cassia and I am a first year student in Ontario. I live away from home, because the university in my home town did not offer my program. I have no sources of funding besides trying for scolarships, which are very competitive at my school. My father is retired, and my mother works part-time, so they don't have money to spend on themselves, let alone to spend on my schooling. I have three more years of school, and am hopefully taking the year off next year, to work, which might help. As for now, I am working 2 part time jobs to support my rent and phone bill, but I have not been able to pay my up-coming tuition, which is of $10,000. Any donation would help tremendously! Thank you so much for your consideration.

I am a self funded 51 yr old retired woman. If anyone out there needs advice and mentoring on how to help themselves, I would be willing to help. I will not give you money, as that is not a solution. I will show you that life does not need to be this difficult. My husband and I raised 4 kids, and never earned a high income. How much you make is irrelevent. It is how you look after it.
There is no reason to spend more than $100 month per person on groceries.
If you want ongoing advice on how YOU can turn this around, email me.

I do not need to know your name, address or phone number. We will only correspnd via emails.

Storage Due-I need to hang onto the farm! Help Please $$$

Posted by rmoeller12 on 2012-02-13 18:58:17

My storage bill is due in March. Please hear my plea for assistance!!!

My house burned down over the holiday season and what remains is in a small rental storage unit. I was struggling financially prior to the fire and now all that is left..mostly some salvageable family photos and some keepsakes that are about to be lost again--forever!!! I would like to save the keepsakes for the next generation in my family who are still very young---they lost their mother at a very early age.

The amount I would like to generously request is a humble amount of $250 and a one time need. My emergency funding resources did not come through this month and are delayed ??? I am working on this desperately. I have no other resources to turn to...I am retired and barely making it on my retirement income. I have worked all of my life and financially responsible. Thank you and any assistance is a great help. God Bless.

My parents, both just retired, have been ripped off by their tenant who has stripped out and gutted their shop premises and moved on. The court fees are killing us and they have no income until they sell the shop which at the moment nobody wants due to its state. At the moment I pay for them ,their mortgage, bills etc as well as my own mortgage, bills for me and my wife and children. I have maxed out all my cards, have two loans and am surviving day to day on pennies as my salary has been eaten away with bills. I need help. Any donations would be gratefully received.

About to be homeless by 1/24 and am disabled

Posted by luvtravelgal on 2012-01-19 11:58:53

I am 57 years old, husband is 66. I am in the process of filing for SSI disability as I am fighting MS and am not able to work anymore. My husband is retired, fighting skin cancer, we have only his social security to live on right now.
Recently lost our apartment and are now staying in a cheap hotel. All of our belongings are in storage and we are praying that we have enough to at least keep the rent up on that, let alone keep a roof over our head as well right now.
We need some help to relocate. Since I have no health insurance and have had a recent hospital stay that wound up wiping out any money we had left, and left us with a lousy credit rating. My husband has a job opportunity in Raleigh NC, if we can get there and find some housing.
I'm a veteran and am hoping that maybe some other vets could help us out. We aren't asking for a free ride, just some help in getting us back on our feet until my disability claim kicks in.
We are more than willing to pay back any help we receive.

Military Veteran Needs Help

Posted by jbham on 2012-01-17 21:58:25

Filed and completed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Jan 2005. Thought that would get me back on my feet. Was affected by Katrina in Aug 2005. Bills and recovery from the hurricane started snowballing and adding up. Lost majority of the house items due to a fallen tree through the roof. Just couldnt catch a break. Managed to get another house even with the bankruptcy, which eventually was foreclosed on. Struggled thru years of money issues and still managed to give 100% to the military. Retired in 2007. Retired pay, nearly half, new it was coming but didnt sink in til it was done. Rated 60% disabled thru the VA. Currently helping 21 year old daughter with cell, auto, and insur, as she attends college. Sadly we are unable to help our 23 year old in college with anything. Luckily, she is very independant and understanding, but the guilt is unbearable. Currently attempting to support our family now including my 18 year old step son with a truck, insur, gas. Wife is out of work. Not enough cs money for food which is supposed to help son from his deadbeat father. Need help to get caught up/ahead, pay off medical bills, and common utilities. Been a very long while since we've had a time to sigh and not have a heavy load on our shoulders. My 21 year old has blessed us with our grand daughter but we can only do so much to help them, nothing extra. We manage to appear happy and the things we do have is it. Have rearranged bills in every way possible and yet again, money spent before the deposit. Any amount would be appreciated. We just need a breather. Please.
