I sadly became sick in 2008 and had no insurance at work I manged to rack up over $5000 in bills and have not be able to make the minimum payments the collection call are now getting to the point that I am in danger of losing my job if I can't get them to stop

Hi all, I'm 25 and recently completed University, during which I managed to rack up a lot of debt, not helped by the birth of my son.
Now, I work as much as I can in an unrelated area, spending the rest of my time raising my boy. But every pay day, I'm broke. I manage to get my son what he needs, even if it means skipping meals myself.

First of all, thank you for clicking in; I truly do appreciate it. I'm having some financial difficulty, and it's putting me under a lot of stress. I'm a single 24-year-old female, and I'm a university grad. However, I certainly don't feel like one. I've been unable to find a job since I graduated two years ago. I studied Social Science--I'll never make that same mistake again. Just recently, for the past couple of weeks, I've been working a minimum wage retail job for 10 hours a week. I'm grateful that I, at least, have something for now. I just wish that it was enough to fend off my student loan payments, credit card bills (which have long since been cancelled), bus/transportation fares (I don't have a car), a bank account, which always seems to be in deficit, and whatever else decides to pop up and torment me. I've decided to go back to school again next September and attend college, with hopes that I'll be better able to land a good job. I'll rack up more student debt, but if it means that I'll be able to stand on my own two feet again, then I'll do it. But for now, I need a bit of help to get by.

I understand that beggars can't be choosers, so I'm not going to specify a certain amount that I need. But anything that you are willing to spare will be greatly appreciated; every little bit counts. Once I'm secure in my life and in my finances, I've made a promise to myself to come back to websites, like these, to donate to others who also need a helping hand. I am writing because I am currently finding it difficult to pay my bills. It's not the normal everyday bills that I'm asking for help with, rather, my wife has a history of medical problems and due to the surgeries and procedures which have been performed at clinics and hospitals, we have managed to rack up a substantial amount of medical bills. In fact, my wife was recently in the hospital from March 30th to April 5th of this year, and even though we have medical insurance, our bill is more than a typical family can afford. As of this moment, the total amount that we owe in medical expenses is: $27,598. I don't expect this to get paid off over night, however, any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
