I am a father of two young boys. we already are living without water and we have no food beyond this week. we walk across street to use restroom at a family members house, this is gracious enough as we have fallen on hard times and so have they. we, together, try our best to help each other but i have been without meaningful work since being laid off from a steel mill. i was a hard worker and went in sick or well to make sure my family had their needs met, when i lost my job it was devastating. i am 26 no degrees, some college level courses completed and have had only two jobs since i was 18. i have little to no work experience outside of the heavy industries which have fallen off sue to the slow economy. this makes me under qualified for most good paying jobs as i cannot work for min. wage and support my children along with my home. this has destroyed my six year marriage and left me penniless and sometimes homeless as my ex wife retains the home. she works near full time but only makes 9 dollars and hour driving bus for osu, not enough income to cover all the expenses without my help. i have moved back home to try to make amends to find that within 10 days we are to be removed from the house if i do not have $1,500.00 for non-payment of the mortgage. please if someone can help us as i am desperately looking for gainful employment, i want to work and am a good hearted christian man. if only a few kinds words to sway an employer to give me a chance, anything would be appreciated.

Hello world, my name is Paul and life has been a bit rough here of late for my whole family. I lost my job do to company cut backs a couple months back and we just cannot seem to get back on our feet. We did have money in savings and that got us by for a bit, I was denied unemployment and the appeals are still going. I try my damnedest to find replacement work with no luck.
I have had many interviews and am found over or under-qualified for the job. All that tells me is I should look into school, but I got to get some sort of job to be able to juggle that option.
Me and my 10 year old daughter just got settled into our place after living with family for a few months and I would really hate to see us right back where we were. With how things are going however that seems to be the outcome. With my savings gone, no work coming in, I was forced to sign up for government aide that truly isn't what one would think. The food stamps are indeed a god send but the money they have to help wont even pay my rent, let alone the rest of our bills.
I like to think that I am a proud man and this does nothing to help that, begging is not something you can manage proudly. I don't really know if this will amount to much but I cant say I tried everything until I have. So if you find yourself in a place to be able to help, I can say that we would be eternally grateful and that in the end all things come back around.

I never thought I would have to ask for help this way but now I am in desperate need for help. I thought that I had plenty of good friends but when problems started to hit me I found out that the reality was that those who pledged to be my friends where the first ones to turn their backs on me, now I have lost everything I valued and am on the verge of losing my house.

All my life I have worked full time and managed to build up my own company but in this economy things started to go wrong, I had to close down and now I have been trying to get a job for the past two years but everywhere I go I get the same answer we are looking for someone younger and less qualified, but I am still trying.

I am buried in debt that I haven’t been able to pay from when I had the business I am also paying for the house mortgage that I am now three months behind.

I'm a 56 year old married woman who has been on social security disability for over 10 years.

In 2006 my husband and I were finally able to put a down payment on our home. This was my first home purchase and I was ecstatic. Chances are we probably shouldn't have qualified for this house, but the lending predators made sure we did.

Long story short, we are now into our second year of chapter 13 bankruptcy. While helping our youngest daughter with college expenses and other unexpected expenses we have fallen behind on our mortgage. I've have been paying what I can but it's not enough.

Everyday my stomach is in knots not knowing whether a motion is going to be filed to take our home away. We've worked hard for what we have, and if we lose it now, we will never be able to purchase again. We love our home.

If gives me pleasure to see my husband putter around in his front and back yard knowing that its the only joy he has aside from his stressful job and poor health. I think it would hurt me more knowing how it would break him to lose that serenity.

I know by next year we will be in a much better financial place, but right now we could use all the help we could get.

I am a 35 year old educated, ambitious, head strong woman. I have owned my own business with my soon to be ex. I know what hard work and determination are. I went to private school and I am educated. I value my community and have always given back and will continue to do so. I also know that I have the drive and determination to get myself back on track. I'm not ASKING for a handout, I'm asking for help up! I also know what loss is. I don't have the business, a house or EVEN the car anymore. We lost everything. He bounced back , I didn’t. All I have is HOPE, that someone or some program can help me carve a path back to self sufficiency.
It's gone continually downhill.I am amazed at the allotment of programs for both housing and employment for all different walks of life. However, what about those that are just struggling. No hang ups, no record, just struggling and are LOW INCOME. I'm not writing this to make you feel sorry, I'm writing this because I have exhausted possibilities that I have researched both on my own or been given the information to do the work with.
There are people who struggle everyday through no fault of their own. They don't want a hand out, but help up would be a relief. Society doesn't need band-aids they need solutions.
Not every county, city or state program fits everyone's needs.
First of all Section 8 has been closed since BEFORE I left my marriage so that idea could never work. The list has been closed for years. Because I have limited time with my children, I do not qualify for CALWORKS. I have tried getting assistance in every way possible. I had very little unemployment left since I have been struggling to find work. I was delayed for about 3 months because they needed verification and I had to appeal and request a hearing. I have won my appeal but will only receive $91/week and for a short period of time.
I took a project management class through WIA in 2011, and I was able to get CTB benefits. I NEED HELP. I have hit the absolute worst point in my life and still refuse to give up. I have been looking for work and am now HOMELESS.I am in week 3 of staying in an extended stay hotel (paid for by my mother back east, who makes maybe $26,000/yr in PA) I recently sold my car because I needed to pay bills and rent. I have maybe $75 to my name.
The fact that they say there are services for low income/ homeless is frustrating. I say this because there is no category for me. I'm not a drug addict or in recovery. I don't have a mental illness. I wasn't in prison, I don’t' even have a RECORD. I can proudly say I've never been arrested or even in the back of a cop car. I'm not a victim of domestic violence and I do not beat my kids. Why aren't there programs in place for single parents struggling to make it? Everyday people that are responsible and respectable. I understand the need to assist those that may not have the capacity to take care of themselves. However, I have a huge problem with the fact that Santa Clara County & all programs (private, govt or state funded) will rehabilitate and reintroduced felons into the community, but if you're poor, homeless, no record, are looking for work, have high intelligence; sorry, you can't get help. This sounds extremely cynical and jaded, but I am a little after going through all I have.
I have been told constantly “I wish I could do something but we don't have any programs to help you.” My favorite reply is: "Yeah and you have done everything. I'm surprised you even knew about all the programs you did"
I have talked to employment counselors, program coordinators, program advocates and case managers, volunteers, just about anyone. The bankruptcy is hindering my chances of securing housing, even if I had employment.

The icing on the cake has to be with food stamps and General Assistance. I qualified for Cal-Fresh. However, at the time I had a car worth $2200. So I wasn't able to get General Assistance. Fast Forward a year later, I HAD to sell my car to pay bills. Now this month when I went for General Assistance, I qualify.

It's a never ending cycle, a constant push down. I can take public transportation to work, but to get around and see my boys and being able to transport them would be extremely difficult, not to mention financially stressing. I have scoured employment books, read articles, searched the library, spent hours online trying to find a job, program, a company, anybody who could be a resource whether for low income assistance or employment.
I can probably tell you about a plethora of services this county (Santa Clara) offers for both income assistance and job services.I am registered with CALJOBS; I know all the career sites and have my resume there. I get interviews, however I am starting to think the bankruptcy from loss of business is holding me back when employers do background check.
I also could teach the business writing class or the resume writing classes they offer at Work2Future, I practically did when I took them. I could do the same at Sacred Heart. I've been to InnVision and EHC. I’ve talked to Sunnyvale Community Services. Boy he was a treat he sounded older then my 80 yr old grandma. When I said I need housing and employment help, he gruffly told me to check the newspaper and hung up. I've called St Josephs in Gilroy. I've talked to a program coordinator at West Valley Community Services. I called the Sobrato Organization hoping they had ties to something and one the employees just by grace of god happened to pick up and take my call. I was able to talk to someone at HIF (they couldn't help)

I am responsible, respectable and just want to work, have a place to live, and be able to have my children 50/50. I have no police record. I am not in recovery, nor have I ever had to be in a program
I want to work and am attaching a compilation of ALL my work skills. I would not send this out otherwise, I would tailor it specifically to the job I am applying for.

I used to volunteer as much as I could I like being active in my community and helping others. I'm still about that I believe in PAY IT FORWARD. I believe the good you do comes back to you tenfold and that no matter what is going wrong in your life, someone else is struggling just as much if not more; so be thankful for what you have.
I attend church and was a hospitality volunteer for that as well.
I just need help getting on my feet. I have no family, other than my children here in CA.
I do not want to move back east and be far away from them. I want to work, I want to live again. I want to smile and mean it.

I hate what my life has become and know that I am SO MUCH BETTER THEN THIS.
Please help me : money is fine, but it's only a temporary fix, please help me find a program that can assist me in getting on my feet, direct me to employment, and most of all afford me the opportunity to have my children much more consistently so I can be a mom again.

In February 2011 I lost my job through no fault of my own. I've looked for work, I got some interviews but no job offers. I even applied for jobs far below my skill set without any luck. I had contacted the bank early on and was told they had a loan modification program for the unemployed. I submitted all the documents requested of me but the process dragged on and every 60 - 90 days they would ask for a new Harship Letter, Financial Statements, etc. March 25 I was contacted by phone and told that updated documents were needed for the last time and that they were going to try to get me qualified for the Affordable Home Program, however, I received a notice on April 4, 2012 telling my house is scheduled to be sold May 29, 2012. I need $19,000 to save my home and keep me and my son off the street. It comes at a really bad time because I'm scheduled to test for my licensure as an LCDC on April 27 and have had 2 employers express interest in interviewing if I pass my test. I'm desperate and don't know where else to turn. I've put always every dime I made into improving my house and I become physically ill when I think of someone being able to acquire my beloved home and benefit from all my hard work and sacrifice. The bank actually put mu house in foreclosure August 2011 but only recently gave it a sale date. Please help if you can find it in your heart. God Bless You.

Greetings, Me and my family are farmers located in one of the most remote and rugged regions of Himalayas in India where there are no access to roads or transportations. Our home and fields are situated over the mountain approx. 3500 feet above sea level where the weather is unpredictable which makes farming very hard and life unbearable. All the farm work is done manually by hand by the members of my family. We normally grow garlic in small quantities which we sell to sustain the family for a whole year. As there are no access to roads we have to carry the loads on our backs at times 50 to 80 KG to access the nearest road which is couple of hours down the mountain and is a back breaking process. Even to get small food items we have to be going through this exercise everyday for our survival. Our everyday diet consist of five or six rotis (wheat flour and water mixed and roasted like a pancake) with mostly dal (gravy made out of pulse) with occasional rice two times a day. At times we collect wild vegetables from nearby forest to supplement our diet. Because of lack of nutrition our health conditions also suffer many times in a year. Here even today babies are born in the house. Birth is supervised by one of the older village woman as there are no doctors or any qualified medical people. In cases of emergency we have to carry the patient on our back to the road and any medical attention can be gotten 15 kms further down the road. This has resulted in many deaths in past years with young and old.
Since last two years due to changing weather conditions and untimely rainfall our fields could not yield crops properly. We are poor farmers just scrapping through life trying to stay alive. Added to these problems last year three of my family members one of whom is a six month old baby had deteriorating health conditions which needed hospitalisation and medicines which cost us major portion of the money we could earn by selling our crop. Normally we earn about 50,000 INR in a year by selling garlic and we grow small quantities of wheat and corn enough to keep the family through the year. Due to these sufferings and extra expenditure am now in great distress to be even able to buy seeds to grow crop in our field to sustain ourselves. To have one morsel of food has become a nightmare for all of us and we are nine members in the family with two small babies of 8 months and two years. The future of our survival looks very bleak given the conditions and lack of health and finance to tend the field.
I would be highly grateful if your goodselves would consider me and my family a worthy cause to extend your help to us with 5000 USD which I can use to buy necessary seeds for the crops, few essential medications, a mule for transportation, fix the leaking roof of our home, do little maintenance to our field for yielding more crop and get me, my family andour field back on track as our field is the only source of our survival. My family consist of myself, my sick wife, two sons and two daughters, 2 small babies and a daughter in law. We have lived on the Shanandoah mountain for about two years. We found a house cheaper than our three bedroom condo we did have in manassas. Which was a little over a thousand a month. Our three bedroom house now on the mountain is exactly a thousand a mth. Our ultilities aren't rediculous. In febuary my husband lost his job. He made good money. I was just finishing up suceeding CDL endorsment classes. Etc. To become a school bus driver. Which has been the only job for me that's come my way in a year. We absolutely love the schools here. Which my three children are in each this year. Thankfully my husband has qualified for unemployment. The state is helping us with food and medical insurance. We allready surrendered our economical car. Then our only vehicle motor blew up two weeks ago. My husband is great at fixing vehicles. We just don't have the money to do so. He wants to go to an auction because he's not for sure about putting a lot of money into our vehicle. Allthough at the same time. We are behind on our rent. Thankfully we are truely blessed with a patient and very understanding landlord. My husband has been fixing up things that have been going wrong with the house since he's been out of work. He and I both have a good chance at jobs. We just don't have a way to them now. Its mind boggling for the both of us. We only have our cell phones for internet. Fortunately our close friend is letting us use his truck that my husband fixed for him recently to use to get our kids to and from busstop morning and afternoon. This truck though isn't legal. I am a 27 year old college graduate who moved back home with my parents. I studied to become a teacher. My efforts to find a full-time position haven't been successful due to state cuts in education funding. I work three jobs to sustain myself - including substitute teaching. My parents were fired from their jobs this year and only my father qualified for unemployment. Hello, My name is Sean and I was fired last month due to a very racist boss. I am looking for work as often as I can and my unemployment claim is still in the works. I don't even know if i am qualified. Anyway, rent is due in a few days and I need some help. Rent is $850, and I am about $300 short plus i need some cash for groceries. I was in a masters program, but I couldn't juggle schoolwork and raising my son at the same time, so I withdrew due to my grades. That was back in December, so I was able to pay off January's rent. I filed my taxes as soon as I got my W2s and got my tax refund, which I used to pay my car payment in advance (as I was behind on that for several months), my past due bills, and rent for two months. I thought I'd get some employment, but I'm either horrifically overqualified for most entry-level work(2 bachelor's degrees) or a bit too underqualified for nearly everything else. The sweet spot for jobs that I'm qualified for aren't here where I live.

And I've called private charities, talked with the government, and asked friends and family. The charities are all underfunded, the government gives way too little to pay rent with, and my friends and family are living from paycheck-to-paycheck and can't swing enough my way to pay rent.

I just want enough to keep a roof over my son's and wife's heads until I can get some gainful employment.

Hi all, i really dont want to bore anyone with desperate pleas so i will attempt to give everyone an outine of my situation and just hope someone can find it in their heart to help.
In short i was forced to leave work when i was abandoned by my wife, who left me with my young daughter, as a single father.
Now i have found a new, wonderful partner, who is about to give birth to our new miracle.
Unfortunatly, after being diagnosed with a degenerative issue with my spine, i am unable to continue work in the normal way.
Having these issues and refusing to give up, i looked for a profession that would allow me to still work to support my new family and get back on our feet with the bills that have built up over the years of being unable to work and (more importantly) allow me to offer help to others in return.
This opportunity i found in the form of Hypnotherapy, an option to allow me to get back into workand not suffer the usual pain and also allow me to offer help to many more people.

Hi every one. Because of shame i have even changed my name, but i need to do this . I am from India. I am receiving food stamps and my children are receiving medicaid but neither food stamps or medicaid help pay my rent, utilities, car insurance or any of the other bills that we have. I am not sure what else to do at this point but to keep looking everyday and hope I find a job soon. Anything would help and be greatly appreciated

I have been out of work for 7 months and still have not received a job yet with the reasons being told that I am either overqualified, under qualified, or there aren't any openings at this time they are just accepting applications. I am receiving food stamps and my children are receiving medicaid but neither food stamps or medicaid help pay my rent, utilities, car insurance or any of the other bills that we have. I am not sure what else to do at this point but to keep looking everyday and hope I find a job soon. Anything would help and be greatly appreciated

I worked in the Oil and Gas industry for 9 years and I was laid off due to the economy. I was able to receive unemployment which has now run out. I have applied at temp agencies, fast food chains, casinos, bars, gas stations and anything that runs in the paper and online in my area (except for truck driving and Dr. positions) since I am not qualified to do either.
