Help save my puppy! :(

Posted by JOJOsaysbreee on 2012-05-15 14:58:04

My puppy is 6 months old (today actually) and he has just contracted Parvo. His name is Chopper, he is a Lab/Pit mix. He weighs 42 lbs and lives here with my husband and I. We also have his brother, Sheik, another pup from his litter. In the past 24 hours, Chopper has been vomiting very often and wouldn't have anything to eat or drink. He also started having bloody diarrhea. I took him to the Vet where they tested him positive for the Parvo Virus and he must stay there and be hospitalized to have the best chance to survive and come through. However, the vet I took him to is the cheapest around and they still say it will cost anywhere from $600-$900 for his complete treatment. All the money my husband and I could come up with was $400, and even that $400 puts us behind on bills and groceries and many things, but it was enough for them to take Chopper and start his treatment. Please help us in the fight to save our puppy! We would be forever grateful for anything and everything donated to us. God bless.

Puppies need help

Posted by puppyproject on 2012-05-13 10:58:17

About seven weeks ago my family rescued a dog that was dumped near our house. Surprisingly, she had TEN puppies about two weeks later. We have found excellent homes for all of them, but they can't leave their mother for three more weeks and puppy food for eleven dogs is getting to be more than we can afford. Please help me feed these puppies for two more weeks until they go to their new homes. Thanks!

Please help Ava!

Posted by kimc on 2012-02-25 11:58:49

Ava is our adorable pup that we adopted through the
Penny Foundation. Ava is a rescue dog from Mexico. She has filled our
lives with joy and happiness. Ava turned one year old in February. She
is a very active, playful pup who is full of life. A month ago, the exuberant Ava was playing in our backyard. She slipped, and ripped a
tendon in her right hind leg. Upon initial vet exam, she was deemed
fine. However, the condition persisted and she refused to play or go
for walks (VERY unusual for Ava). We took her to a different vet a week
later, and the diagnosis came in – Ava would require surgery. There was
no other option. The injury would not heal on its own. The vet told us
that Ava’s breed is prone to this type of injury. We were very sad to
hear this, as Ava is so young and the surgery would require two months
of recovery time. The surgery is also expensive – $3000 minimum. My
husband and I are not rich people, and are therefore trying to raise
some money to go towards Ava’s surgery. Any amount will help. We want
Ava to make a full recovery, and get back to her normal, fun, playful
puppy lifestyle. The vet told us the prognosis after surgery is very
good, and that Ava should return to full function. Please help Ava.
Thank you!

help replace stollen puppy

Most people do not know me. I am an animal lover and have used my animals as therapy pets in the past. I am on disability and only make 700.00 per month to live on.

I saved up over time enough to buy a puppy to train for therapy again. 2 weeks later some one stole her from my yard.

i am requesting if you can see it in your heart to give a small donation to purchase another puppy to help others who are sick as well as my own depression.
I am having problems with paypal right now but you can request an address to send money orders. stormyt@gmail.com

Forever Homes for Boston Terriers

Posted by bostonmom on 2011-12-09 01:58:12

I have done private rescue for Boston Terriers for the past 8 years. I have been blessed to have placed so many in forever homes. There is no adoption fees or costs to adopt one of these wonderful animals. They only requirement is to love them. I do not make anything. Most of the ones I take in are either abused, from puppy mills or just plain not wanted. If I rescue from a shelter I have paid between $65.00 to $100.00 to keep the dog from being put to sleep. I do this to honor the little guy that gave so much to me when I was the one in need. He was by my side for 14 years and went to the Rainbow Bridge on January 15th 2010. My heart has gotten so much bigger than my pocketbook. Vet bills, food and other necessities have skyrocketed. I have been paying all expenses out of my pocket, but due to currently being out of work I can no longer afford to help these babies find forever homes. Any help would be a blessing.

Puppy Needs Medical Attention

Posted by cher on 2011-09-12 20:58:27

Dear Sir or Madam,

As compared to some of the really sad and trying requests on this site mine seems so trivial. Unfortuneately I still need your help.
I sold one of my puppies last year to who I thought would be a wonderful home. I was wrong and my puppy has had to pay the price for my bad choice.
I do have a 100 percent take back on all my dogs regardless of age. Her owners just had a new baby and were not paying attention to her (Bella). Bella contracted a unrinary tract infection which they did not do anything about.
By the time they called me her temperature was 106 degrees and she was staggering. I drove two hours to pick her up at 10pm at night and took her to the Universtiy Vet Hospital close to my home. We arrived there at 3am.
It was a $2000.00 bill when they finally released her. If the owners had done their job it would have been $160.00 and 10 days of antibiotics. I have insurance on my guys but these people had nothing and they do not want to pay.
My husband and I are undergoing a seperation right now and I just don't have the $3000.00 this is going to come to when it is all done.
Bella is doing wonderful right now and I am looking for another forever home for her. She does have kidney damage and we are still testing to see how bad and if she is going to fully recover. Each of those visits is $150.00 and she needs to go once a month for a minimum of 6 months.
Please help and I thank each and everyone of you for reading my request and God Bless.

Regards
Cheryle and Bella

help me i was robbed

i am a recently graduate from college, I was working with a new restuarant on creating their recipe book and opening their first location. after putting togeher most of their recipe book for the kitchen and opening the first location they laid me off and hired on someome for less pay. so i ahve been out of work for 2 months,on top of that i had a roommate. a student from my school, i let him stay because i thought it would help with bills, tho i was very wrong. he has stayed with me for 3 months with lil help, all together he has contributed 183 over the past few months. last week i asked him to leave and when he did he stole my rent, my tv, laptop with my whole portfolio for work and school, my puppy is missing, he stole a keg but not my keggerator, some of my clothes(im a lesbian and dress like a surfer so lots of board shorts and tshirts) and other small things out of my house. i filed a police report but really they cant help you unless they pawn my stuff or get caught with it since i didnt see who did this.... idk what to do
Can you help my new mommy? She adopted me on 6/30/11 from an animal rescue organization. I spent the first 12 weeks of my life in a nasty puppy mill, and boy, was I happy to go home with her! I had a pretty good first day in my new home. I ate and drank a lot. Good thing - I only weigh two and a half pounds! The next morning I didn't feel very well. My mom knew something was wrong, so I went to the vet and was given an IV and some medicine to settle my tummy. The doctor told my mom to bring me back if I didn't start eating or drinking. Well, I didn't get better. My doctor told my mom to take me to an animal emergency center where they could keep an eye on me around the clock. The nice new vet sadly discovered that I have PARVO, a disease that kills 80% of untreated puppies. I guess I wasn't given the shot that would have protected me from this disease at the puppy mill. My mom has a job, but not a lot of extra money, but she decided that I deserved a chance to live, especially since no one loved me or cared about me before this. I was admitted to the hospital, and put in isolation. I have three IV's, and I take a lot of medicine. The vet and the techs are nice, but they have to poke and prod me a lot. It makes me cry. I'm getting better, but I am lonely and sad. Today the vet discovered that I have pneumonia. It could be caused by kennel cough or aspirating some vomit. My mom told the vet to just make sure I get well. She wants me to have a long life filled with love, lots of petting, long walks, and good food. All of my care is very expensive. So far my mom has spent close to $5000.00 to keep me alive and once I'm healthy I'll still need regular puppy shots and neutering. Can you find a few dollars to help my mom pay for my care? I don't know her too well yet, but I do know beyond a shadow of a doubt that she loves me.

DOG WITH SERIOUS HEART CONDITION

Posted by LUKE on 2011-07-03 14:58:28

Last May I lost my baby, a 7 year old black lab mix named Bully, to lymphoma after 9 months of chemotherapy. In Bully's memory I went on Pet Finder to donate to help save another "big black" dog in Bully's memory. Luke was that dog.

Myself and a friend gave donations to help get Luke neutered and heart worm tested so a rescue organization would hopefully take him and find him a home as he only had a couple days before being euthanized. I kept in touch with the shelter he was at only to find out when they put him under to be neutered he actually died on the table and they brought him back. They then found out he had a congenital heart disease and no rescue organizations would take him.

I went and got Luke last September because I did not want him living out the rest of his days in a cage. At the time I was told his treatment for this condition would only cost about $50 a month. We had a multitude of debt already from Bully's chemo treatments, but I figured we could handle the $50 a month. 9 months and many, many bills later it turns out Luke's heart condition in quite expensive to treat. He had a complication in May when he got digoxin toxicity from the digoxin he takes for his heart. He was very sick for a couple of weeks and now we are having to have his chest tapped to remove fluid anywhere from every 2-4 days. He does not mind the chest taps and he feels like a puppy after their over but the tap alone is $255 and that doesn't count the office visit that goes with it or his numerous medications he's on. We’ve spent over $4000 in the last two months alone and the credit cards are quickly drying up.

I have a job and work every day, I hate to ask for money, but anybody who is willing to give, I promise you that each and every dollar will go towards Luke, his medical expenses and all his medicines. For everyone, giving or not, please remember Luke every day in your prayers.

Thank you for reading this.

Nearly Destitute

Posted by tleevz1 on 2011-06-16 01:58:13

My problem started in July 2010. I was involved in an auto accident. I rear-ended a woman, who in turn rear-ended the person in front of her. The reason it happened was that the person in front of me hit their gas and got over to an open spot in the lane to my left. This move was so fast I didn't have room to either side and I saw the reason that driver moved was the cars in front of him or her were at a dead stop. We were traveling uphill so I was unable to see past the car and I had no idea people were stopped. I had less than a second to hit my brakes. Luckily no body was injured.

Here is where the story gets ugly. My mom had paid my auto insurance but she lost her job so I started to pay the premiums. I told my insurance agent to automatically deduct the premium and I gave her my bank information. So I was under the impression I had insurance. I did not. The agent only charged me for one month's premium and never set up the automatic deduction. Great. But there seemed to be a silver lining...the two other vehicles involved in the accident drove away before the police arrived. I did not get a ticket, I was completely sober and cooperative, and the police were surprised two victims of an accident would just drive away. Both parties got all of my information, they drove away before I got theirs. At the time of the accident I wasn't worried because I thought I had insurance.
When I called my agent I was informed that my policy lapsed because I hadn't paid my monthly premium.

I was curious if the fact that both of these people drove away would take the heat off of me. The police thought this was possible, after all, how can they prove they didn't smash up their vehicles further after they drove away to get more insurance money?

It gets worse. I left my job a few years ago because I had a job all but promised to me in Denver. Obviously, I didn't get the job in Denver. Not sure why, I aced the interview. So with no steady income (I was used to making about 42k yearly) I held hope I'd land a good job and had no choice to but to survive on a credit card for food and gas. That good job never came along. I ended up working overnights as a nurse assistant in the mental health unit. I've been drowning in debt, I had to get a car from what some consider a predatory lending car lot. I lost the hospital job in April for 'misconduct' (I worked nights and someone reported that I was sleeping, I wasn't but they didn't believe me so now I don't qualify for unemployment.) So, no income to pay for that vehicle and it got repossessed. But the best part is I got a letter in January 2011 stating that I owe one of the parties involved in the accident around 5k. I don't have it. If I had the money I would write both of the drivers involved in that accident fat checks right now, but I simply do not have the resources. The letter from the state dept of transportation stated that my license would be suspended unless I came up with the money. So I called the agency, and from my conversation with the state employee it sounded like my case would be reviewed. Nope. A collection agency sent me a letter saying in total I owe nearly 35k for the two cars and my credit cards.

In February I was on my way to a friend's house and I was pulled over because my temp tags were expired. The officer ran my license and I was handcuffed and taken to jail. I have never been arrested, and my driving record is excellent. The officer even thought it was silly. Regardless, now I have a court date in early July and I have the public defender taking my case. He said I either need to pay $1000 fine, or spend a minimum of 2 days in jail. So it looks as if I will be in jail at least 2 days because I have no money. Being without a vehicle is no picnic. My job search is limited to places on a bus route close to my home in Kansas City. I have no friends or family with that kind of money. I am not a drug addict, or a criminal. My career tanked, and I've kept falling through the cracks. I stay positive and I love life, but the anxiety and absence of pride in my life are making me isolate more. I can't afford to do anything. Luckily my brother is letting me stay in a spare room at his place or I may be homeless. I am a hard worker, I have a bachelor's degree, and I am a pleasant person to work with. But I have no car, no money, horrible credit, and bleak job prospects. Please do not think I feel sorry for myself. I've made stupid decisions that got me where I am. I take responsibility for putting myself in situations where these things happened. And especially for not paying attention to my financial obligations (the insurance premium). That being said, all I can do is look forward and do the best I can to get back on my feet. At this moment I feel like a wet puppy who is trying unsuccessfully to jump out of the tub during a bath. I need help. I don't know who to turn to. I've wanted to volunteer at some places to meet people and network but without a vehicle and a suspended license I can't even volunteer at most places. Please, if anyone can help, contact me with suggestions. I desperately need to file for bankruptcy but that costs around 1,800.00 and I can't afford that.

I also have around 27k in student loan debt. That debt along with the approximately 35k in unsecured debt leaves me with a very large amount of money that I have no realistic chance of paying back. The student loans will not be affected if I file for bankruptcy. Which is fine. As a matter of pride and doing what is right I don't like that my debts can simply be written off, but that is seemingly my only option. I would love to volunteer for a charity of my debtor's choosing to start to contribute something, but that proposal often times ends up sounding like a mutated version of indentured servitude.

I apologize for the rambling. This is the first time I have ever written all of this down at once and I feel better.

Thank you for your time.

Every Boy Should Have a Dog

Posted by ProjectPuppy on 2010-07-05 16:58:58

http://www.project-puppy.com/

For a loooooong time, I’ve wanted to adopt a puppy. We couldn’t have one when I was a kid (allergies, parents, etc.), then for a long time I lived in the city. I know, I know, there are plenty of city dogs and it’s quite possible to give them wonderful lives, but I just wasn’t sure my lifestyle would allow for that. Personally, for my ambition as a dog caretaker, I resolved not to seriously entertain bringing home a canine companion until I had a fenced yard that he could enjoy and relax in without being leashed or strictly supervised. Just under two years ago, I moved into my very first house, with a great big yard and a nice tall fence. Perfect, right?

Seemingly, yes. At first, the house needed a lot of work. The previous occupants had kept dogs, but were not terribly responsible about it. So, there was a lot of rehabbing to be done to floors, walls, woodwork and carpet. I really wanted to bring a puppy home, but I had to do it right. Have the infrastructure and resources all in place, really set us up for success, y’know? The plan was to adopt near the beginning of summer vacation (I’m a teacher), so we’d have plenty of time to bond, and train, and acclimate and play and socialize and... you get the picture. Things were looking good, and then... I lost my job.

Again, not wanting to leave the door open for failure, Project Puppy had to be postponed. I have a second (and now a third... and half a fourth) job, and some savings and other resources, so it’s not like I’m in real danger of becoming homeless. BUT, taking on additional, non-elective expenses right now wouldn’t be fiscally responsible. Unless, of course, I have help; that’s where you come in.

It occurs to me, that oftentimes in the community of dog lovers, that when someone has a litter or finds a stray or has to move, and looks to place their pooch in a home rather than abandon them to a shelter, they reach out to their networks of friends and fellow-dog-lovers. So often I’ve overheard the phrase, “Ohhh, I’d love to, but...” don’t have the space/money/time for another dog, the wife/husband/landlord would kill me, I’ll ask around... I know that many donate generously to the ASPCA and various rescue organizations, on top of whatever is spent providing furry friends with toys and treats galore. I thought that perhaps, some of these dog lovers who have already filled their own homes to capacity with paws and leashes, might be willing to contribute to keeping at least one pup out of “the system” and in a comfortable home; and Project Puppy was born.

If you’ve got the dime, I’ve got the time. The house is in order, the backyard is all set, I’ve done a fair amount of research and dogsitting. I’ve got a small network of dog-friends to socialize with and a reliable de facto sitter if I should ever need to travel out of town. The last missing piece is the available fundage to provide food, equipment, vet care, etc. I figure if I can scrape together $1000, that should be adequate for a years’ worth of normal care. Maybe a little more, considering the initial outlay of bowls and a leash and a bed. If you support the cause, and care to throw a dollar or two in the pot, I’ll squirrel these funds away specifically for this purpose, and every little bit helps. Like child support, except this child is kinda hairy and has really harsh breath and I will never ask you for a paternity test. If you can’t afford to donate, but know someone who would, maybe you’ll forward them a link so they can come read?

That’s about as far as I’ve thought this web plea through. My owner taught me not to beg, but I’ve a feeling that if enough people just read this site, I won’t need to. I’ll keep the site updated with how close we are to the goal, and hopefully once we succeed, pictures/videos/updates on the little guy’s progress. Thanks for your time, and your generosity!
