Disabled vet needs help with home

Posted by emr428 on 2012-05-23 10:58:48

My husband is a disabled, retired Army veteran. About 10 years ago he purchased a camp in Maine that he planned to fix up and move into for his retirement. Unfortunately he has suffered flood damage twice, once he had flood insurance, or thought he did, but the insurance company refused to pay saying they hadn't processed the payment on the day he opened the policy and the flooding occured over the weekend so he was not covered! The second flooding FEMA came in and didn't bother going under the house so they only gave him $800! Both times the flooding destroyed all the insulation and a great deal of work. He now has to jack up the house, have a foundation put in, then level everything in the house. He cannot live there. He applied for an equity loan from the bank as the property is valued at $139K and there is no mortgage. But we have moved to Nevada as I was offered a job here that paid better than back east. We want nothing more than to get this house fixed up in Maine so we can either sell it or possibly retire there. Right now if someone was willing to give an equity loan of $40,000, we would take that instead of begging. Please consider helping us before this Maine house gets flooded again and we lose everything there. If each person who reads this can only give $1, it wouldn't take long to reach our goal and then we could give back in the future!

Repossessed Home In Need of Repair.

Posted by khannah on 2012-05-21 08:58:22

Hello, My names Kaylee and I am in need of a little help if possible. My parents divorced this year and it ended with me, my mum and my brother moving to a 2 bedroom repossessed property that is in dire need of repair. My mum works, but her wages only cover our necessities and there’s no room to save for the house to be repaired. Me and my brother help where we can but we are on little wages ourselves. We currently have no ceiling or flooring in the lounge and kitchen and every wall in the house needs repairing and painting. We also need a sofa and other bits of furniture as we currently have plastic garden chairs. I have a friend who is a builder and is willing to do all the repairs for us, it's just the part of raising the money for materials that’s an issue.
I would be most grateful for any donation that could help towards my cause and I know it’s not life threatening and in some people’s eyes not a lot of money but for us it could make a huge difference to our lives. My mum suffers with Bipolar and this can have a huge impact on our everyday life, with the house in such disarray this can cause my mums behavior to be very erratic and disorganised, I just feel with a home she does not need to worry about that it will help us all to lead a better quality of life :)

Between a Rock & a Hard Place

Posted by hardput on 2012-05-14 17:58:30

That is exactly where I am at right now. I have been married as of April twenty-one years to a man that was verbally and mentally abusive. Yes, I put up with it for all those years which is for me to deal with but it did make me burn out finally. There are friends that have asked me how I put up with it and I don't know. Anywho, I have made it through this month which is six months and the divorce still won't be final for a while since there are details about the property that are up in the air for now but have ended up turning my finances upside down to the point I cannot even get gas to do my work. I have sold things and did everything possible to keep going but I am worn out from even that. I need any change you can spare so that I can get turned back around and be able to put things back on track.

PLEASE HELP ME... I only have a few days left

Posted by ZazooNeedsYourHelp on 2012-04-26 13:58:36

I'm a freelance legal assistant who has hit a rough patch. My hours are down, some of my client's checks have bounced and I have been served with an eviction notice.

Since the eviction notice, I have been able to stay current and even pay off a little of the back rent. But for the last two months, I haven't been able to pay anything towards the back rent. I got a letter from the property manager giving me to the end of the month to pay off the back rent OR ELSE.

I have nowhere to go. I will be unable to work. I don't even have a car right now so I have no idea how I will pack up and move out. I am going to lose everything.

PLEASE PLEASE someone PLEASE give me something - if a few people kicked in what they could spare, I might be able to mollify the property manager.

If anyone needs confirmation of the debt, please email me. I can provide contact info for my property manager.

Many thanks for reading my plea for help. Peace & Joy, Zazoo

New Roof Direly Needed Asap: Health & Safety Concerns

Posted by Rhiannon213 on 2012-04-20 08:58:45

When I purchased this home back in 2004 after finally getting away from an extremely abusive marriage, all I could see was that the price was right and that I would finally be safe - hundreds of miles away from my now ex-husband. As a single mother of 3 children on a limited income, I saw how I would be able to live completely mortgage and rent free. I didn't however see the major repairs that this house required - nor did I have the money to make such repairs. Over time, of course things got worse - and it brings me up to the point of where I am today.

The roof on this house is so badly deteriorated that it is leaking very badly in the downstairs bathroom, dining room, kitchen and front door areas. It has leaked so badly that now mold has started to form in the bathroom ceiling and the drywall has slowly been falling away on the one wall. The slightest wind and you will find shingles blown off and laying on the ground. The roof is so bad that I am fearful that even the boards underneath the shingles may need to be replaced.

Realize that this is my last resort in trying to come up with the funds required to get this new roof. I have tried applying to government grants for home improvement but unfortunately I do not qualify because 1. my property taxes are not paid up to date (I owe approximately $2000 just in property taxes), and 2. the size of the house is larger than the specified guideline parameters. Nor do I qualify for a loan of any sort as 1. I make a mere $200 a month working and 2. have bad past credit (being a single mom has taken some serious tolls on me - including financially!).

So the goal here is to get a new roof installed - and as soon as possible so that any further damage to the house is avoided. I also worry about the mold forming in the bathroom especially and one day the roof caving in in there. While my children have grown to teenagers now, I still have to worry about their health.

I have uploaded pictures and this story at Chip-In to show you the extent of the damage done especially in the bathroom area - and a view of the shingles as they are right now on the roof. Admittedly I realize that my house also needs some repair on the stucco, windows and such but right now my main concern is the roof. I'm surprised it hasn't caved in on me by now.

I thank everyone in advance for helping me with this. I do not normally like asking for help from anyone but at this point I am finding that I have no other alternative.

Please view photos of the damage, etc at my Chip-In page at http://escapetofreedom.chipin.com/imperative-home-repairs

We asked to make 2 or 3 payments amonth to recover the arrears, but they say no!So now we have to come up with $18000. Our parents are all gone now. We only have our little family of four. With our home in forclosure, we cannot get a loan to cover the money. So if you can help please do. Our parents are buried in the graveyard of the church that ajoins our property! I am a 50 year old man.I take care of my mom as to shes been a tempamental diabetic since she was 31.She also has severe neropathy. After my fiancee had paseed away in 2004,I was left to sell our house and to start a business so I take care of my mom and work. The idea I had was to do lawn care,painting-interior and exterior homes, haul unwanted items to the dump for customers I acquired from my business I started after selling my house.I was able to persue my dream business in LawnCare ,and was able to provide my mom with the assitence she needed. Since 2006 I have saved her life more times than I have fingers and toes. This job is also conveinent because if my mom or someone calls me with an medical or any kind of accident emergency I can leave my job to help, return to finish it after I am done.My customers are aware of that precedure since I informed them when I acquired them as customers.Since 2006 when I started my business and purchashed all my equipment needed for the lawn care business, some of the important pieces of equipment had stopped working such as my lawn tractor and weed eater. I still have my pick-up truck and trailer, blower, hedge trimmers, and push lawn mower.I am behind on my property tax due to not being able to work as well.I still have all my customer contacts and willing to get more when I can advertise again, but I'm sure I have lost some since I have'nt been able to work.I hope someone can help me get back on my feet I will be much appreciative to them as I will offer you free service due from my greatfulness ! Unemployed-Trying to Keep My Home

Posted by rusearchin4me on 2012-03-31 18:58:29

In 2001, I was diagnosed with agoraphobia and was forced to close the Property Management Company I owned.
In 2003, I got a job working from home doing bookkeeping over the internet. It was perfect because I only had to deal with people over the phone. I can do that. I worked at my job for 8.5 years. Then when the economy went bad, our company lost many clients. I was one of 3 full time people and many of the clients we lost were mine. My boss let me go as he felt I was losing too many clients. He paid me three months of severance pay but that ended in August 2011. I paid my mortgage up until that point.
That's when I applied for unemployment. After fighting with the Virginia Employment Commission for 7 months, I went to court on March 28, 2012 and was denied any benefits.
I have been looking for a job since May 2011 to no avail. Currently, I have 4.12 in my checking account. I am 9 months behind on my mortgage. I need to raise 10,000.00 in order to keep my house. Please, any amount would be a start. Thank You!

Please help missing persons non for profit agency!

Posted by k9search on 2012-03-30 19:58:21

What happened to our non profit group could happen to you personally!
Someone steal ALL your money.

Someone created false checks with our bank’s routing number and account number but put a person’s individual name with erroneous address and duplicated the check numerous time to where it totally wiped out our checking account and put six additional fake checks onto our overdraft protection. This person even changed the name of the bank from Fifth Third to First Bank of Clewiston on the face of the check and no one has caught her. She wrote numerous checks to Publix, Sweetbay, Murphy, Winn Dixie, etc. and has gotten away with this. Meanwhile, you, the concerned citizens, are suffering from what she has done because we have been financially damaged by her actions. All of this can be verified with Fifth Third Bank (Fraud Investigation Case # 2011-027001 filed September 2011) call Angela Jones phone 239-772-1122. We have been suffering that long and need your help NOW.
We are a dual purpose organization which saves animals from being destroyed because their days have expired and work with some of the animals to teach them to serve the public as a service dog. The daily feeding and caring for the animals has been a financial need which the President of the group (Shirley Lucas) has been financially supporting the animals but this robbery is causing us to lose the 13 acres it utilizes to practice its training of the personnel and dogs. These are search and rescue maneuvers for missing children and elderly persons plus response to disaster situations. This property is essential in the operations and drills for the group. The property is Lee County parcel ID # 03-44-27-06-00000.0050 being located at 155 Greenbriar Blvd., Lehigh Acres, FL. 33972
K-9 Search and Rescue of South Florida, Inc. is greatly in need of financial support and seeks assistance in saving the animals and the property through your IMMEDIATE response of a donation or sponsorship or grant. The land will be auctioned on this upcoming Tuesday, April 3rd, if the approx. $8,000 is not paid in full no later than 10am. If we lose this land the free services we provide to the community will be greatly diminished.
This is happening to us not because of anything we have done but because someone has stolen from us. Just remember this could have happened to your family… and wouldn’t you want someone to come help them?
Please help us save this land and keep our organization afloat. You can assist by sending your tax deductible donation through your own PayPal account or using a credit/debit card or making a deposit into our bank account. Here’s the information: 1) go to PayPal to use your credit or debit card even if you do not have a private account and put the group’s email address as the receiptant: LeeCtyFLSAR@aol.com or 2) go to any FLOIRDA GULF BANK and tell them you want to donate to our organization and they will know how to handle it. There are 7 branches throughout Lee County. You can confirm this by calling the bank (239-433-6020), ask for either Jackie, Sherrie, Glenis or Sylvia http://www.floridagulfbank.com/locations.html
ANY amount will help. Even $5 will help pay for food for the animals.
TIME is of the utmost essence. Please respond today.

Sincerely,

Shirley Lucas

SHADY LANDLORD

I need help asap. I rented a place from a scumbag 2 weeks ago who unknown to me had already sold the home. I went looking for help with this situation through various social services, etc. I was told I needed an eviction notice from the landlord who kept my deposit and won't return it. I have just found out that the supposed landlord doesn't even own the property and is harassing and threatening me to move out. The police have been notified and I obtained legal aid to try to get to the bottom of this. I have found another apartment but because this scumbag will not return my money I need a first month's rent deposit and moving costs of about $600.00. I want to get out of here as soon as possible because the situation with me and this person is really bad and could be very ugly. He comes in my home when ready and has taken things, even the dog's dog food can you believe it. Can someone please help me I don't feel comfortable here and have no place else to go. Anything will help. Thanks!

Because I believe in the power of prayer & the kindness of my fellow man, I've decided to swallow my pride & ask for help. This is not an action I am at all familiar with but am grasping at every straw to attempt to keep a roof over my family's head. We live in a modest house that we've called home for the past 20+ years.

I am a single mother who's been truly blessed with 4, beautiful, healthy children; 3 biological & a foster son that joined our family when he was 12…..he is now 23. My kids are the reason I continue to battle through what has been the most challenging, darkest phase of my 50 years on this Earth.

In the summer of 2011, life, as my family knew it, was forever changed. My son got off the school bus & proceeded to enter a crime scene upon opening the front door of the house we call home. It was immediately clear that we were victims of a daytime home invasion and robbery. A trail of splinters led straight to my bedroom door, which had been demolished in the process of gaining entrance & access to my personal belongings. Robbers took my box of trash bags & proceeded to fill them with anything that could be sold or traded. I came home to find that they had stolen everything of value that I had worked for in my 50 years of existence & everything of value that my kids cherished as well.

It didn't happen often, but on the occasion that I had a few extra dollars to spend on myself, I found pleasure in buying nice jewelry. Through the years, I had managed to accumulate a nice collection. Also, as a child, my father & I shared an interest in coin collecting. I had managed to hold on to several interesting coins my dad & I found. Weekly, he also, gave me & my brothers our allowance of a fifty cent piece each. I had somehow managed to hold on to many of these as well. I stored my coin collection in the bottom portion of my large armoire. This area is what my family referred to as "the safe." Anything of value, particularly sentimental, was given to me to be protected in the safe. A couple good examples are my, then, 10 year old son's game ball for hitting the Championship game winning grand slam home run & my daughter's horse riding medals, show jewelry & accessories, as well as a silver handled knife & sheath…….the only personal possession my foster son owned from his childhood. I carry a tremendous amount of guilt for not doing a better job of safe guarding my family's precious & dear possessions.

In addition to the lingering guilt, the robbery also resulted in life altering psychological effects to me & my family. I continue to wonder if & when I will ever fully recover & be the secure, self confident person I was before the robbery. Immediately following the break-in, I was consumed by finding out who was responsible & ways of obtaining this information…..I could think of nothing else. After several weeks of frantic guessing & running wild goose chases, I started to realize that regaining possession of my property was less likely as each day went by. I could feel myself falling into a dark, lonely place with deep despair…..& unfortunately, I was content to be there. For the next several months, I could not work, did not eat or sleep & rarely came out of my bedroom. There was a film in my head that ran & reran the events leading up to & immediately following the robbery…..filled with the "I should've"s, "I could've"s and "what ifs." I am plagued with distrust & no longer find interest in much of anything. I was robbed of far more than just pieces of property…..they stole my trust in mankind, my desire to thrive, my faith in the world & my sanity.

I have worked as a medical school curriculum manager for 21 years. As a result of my mental decline, I was unable to work for over three months which, consequentially, made it difficult to pay all of the bills. I managed to rob Peter to pay Paul for several months & kept up with everything except for my house payment. It is now in arrears nearly $5,000.00 & I am out of resources. For the first time in my life, I am facing foreclosure. It is embarrassing & humiliating & I don't know how to tell my kids that they are likely to have no place to call home in the very near future. I feel like such a failure! Even though I've been an exemplary employee for many years, as a consequence of the self doubting & tremendous stress, I am now faced with the strong potential of losing my job due to my inability to focus & my lack of desire to face each day, As if this wasn't enough for one person to handle, I am also witnessing the daily decline of my father & my hero due to end stage Parkinson's & Alzheimer's.

I'm not sure how this begging website works but if there is someone out there that is willing to make me a loan & work out a payment arrangement, I promise not to let you down.....you will be repaid! I am working hard to battle the persisting PTSD symptoms that continue to plague me. I just worry that facing homelessness may be more than I can handle. Lord, I hand it over to You coz I come to You a broken, wounded angel. I thank you for any consideration and appreciate all prayers. May God bless you many times & in many ways for your generosity & kindness!

Heartfelt Plea from Broken & Wounded Angel

Anything of value, particularly sentimental, was given to me to be protected in the safe.

In addition to the lingering guilt, the robbery also resulted in other life altering psychological effects to me & my family. I could feel myself falling into a dark, lonely place accompanied by deep despair…..& unfortunately, I was content to be there.

Even though I've been an exemplary employee for many years, as a consequence of the self doubting & tremendous stress, I am now faced with the strong potential of losing my job due to my inability to focus & my lack of desire to face each day. As if this wasn't enough for one person to handle, I am also witnessing the daily decline of my father & my hero due to end stage Parkinson's & Alzheimer's.

I'm not sure how this begging website works but if there is someone out there that is willing to believe in me & offer me a loan & payment arrangements, I promise not to let you down.....you will be repaid! I am working hard to battle the persisting PTSD that continues to plague me. I just worry that facing homelessness may be more than I can handle. Lord, I hand it over to You coz I come to You a broken, wounded angel. I thank you for any consideration and appreciate all prayers. May God bless you many times & in many ways for your generosity & kindness!
