help with vet bill

Posted by drivindaisy on 2012-05-20 10:58:40

My little dog recently suffered with vertigo, i took him to our local vet & they flushed out his ears but while they were doing it discovered a tumour in his ear canal. He was referred to a specialist to have m.r.i scan & inner ear removal. The specialist vets also advised us to have his larynx operated on at the same time, so we took their advice. The ear operation went well but throat op caused problems & now our fit little dog has been left with a nasty cough for life that needs to be controlled with medication. We expected the pet insurance we had to pay for the treatment but as the tumour turned out to be a polyp he is not covered as he was prescribed ear drops for an infection 3 yrs ago.So now i have put a £6000 vet bill on my credit card that i am struggling to pay off. Any help would be greatly apprieciated Thank you

Way over our heads

Posted by aevans1966 on 2012-05-18 10:58:37

My family is on our way out of our apartment. My boyfriend has been unemployed for 2 years, depleted his unemployment account, and I now work 7 days a week and still only get 30 hours in. We are making no money, have 3 kids, one of which has a 9th birthday this month with no chance of getting a present. My bills are going unpaid which means eventually the electricity will be shut off as well as internet and then of course the rent. If someone out there in my area would just hire my boyfriend real soon we might stand a chance. I don't want to be on the streets with my kids and pets. I am just asking for temporary help or a job for my boyfriend. No one in my family has drug or alcohol issues. We are good people experiencing a streak of bad luck. I am exhausted from trying everything only to be rejected every time. But I will NOT give up. I do not have a PayPal account and do not know how this works but would love the help. Thank you.

HELP US PLEASE - HOME IN DANGER OF REPOSSESSION

Posted by FallenFromGrace on 2012-05-15 05:58:23

Dear Sir or Madam,

We are an average family who have fallen upon very hard times. My wife was let go from her work about 18 months ago with no severance pay and has been unable to find any payable employment since... she has been volunteering at the local school as a classroom assistant but really could do with finding some new work soon.

As you can imagine with my wifes income lost to us things have been tight for a while now so it was an awful second blow when my employers went into administration and the factory was finally closed with all employees laid off, again with no severance pay just over 6 months ago now by the Administrators... we had been hopeful of a buyout but it didn't happen and the whole lot of us were placed onto the scrapheap. As it was we had no payrise for the previous four years...

Things are now hitting crisis point for me and my family, I have only been able to find 4 weeks of paying work in the last six months... we have sold the family car to try and keep my daughter in college and have the house up for sale in the hope we can pay off the capital and start renting but if we don't make this next mortgage payment the bank are going to start foreclosure on us... as for my slightly younger son and his college future that is currently looking very unlikely...

The family pets (2 Cats and 1 Staffie Dog) are as much a part of this family as any of us yet we are now with great reluctance and heartfelt pain considering having to give them up to a the local rescue centre... I think I will cry a thousand tears if I have to let them go but I need to be pratical and focus on my wife and children and putting them first... For I will cry a million tears if I let them down any further than I already have...

Any HELP you can give us will be most gratefully received and a prayer of thanks will be said for every penny.

God Bless you and God Bless America.

Many thanks for reading this.

Help Bring Dog Scouts to the UK!

Posted by shootingstardsa on 2012-05-07 21:58:25

Positive "Pet Parenting" is the main goal of the Dog Scouts of America. Troops have and are still forming all across the US and there has been a significant decrease in the amount of dogs being given up to the pound as unwanted or untrainable. With the success of DSA Troops in the US, DSA Troop 188 has selected a pet parent/Dog Scout team to go to the UK. An AP article published in The Day Newspaper of New London, CT and Norwich Bulletin, Norwich, CT has received many many viewings in the UK. The article can be found at: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/dog-scouts-america-troops-22-states-16064429
.

DSA Troop 188 wants to act now to capture the attention and passion of the UK dog owners and dog lovers. DSA Troop 188 has already been in touch with dog clubs in the UK that wish to partner with the team when they arrive to facilitate the DSA Troops formations.

DSA Troop 188 needs $5,000 USD in order to sent the ambassadorial team over. This covers the settlement costs for both the human and the Dog Scout and transport fees.

Won't you please help fellow dog lovers, dog owners and the dogs and help reduce the amount of dogs in pounds? Any little bit you can give will help tremendously. Thank you in advance for your support, you/your company will be mentioned in the Troop newsletter and on here.

Dog's lives are short enough, let's do all we can to help them enjoy their time with us.

Mental Health

Posted by brightsmove on 2012-04-23 14:58:08

I am in domestic turmoil with my diagnosed severely narcissistic sociopath mother. I am trying to raise money to relocate with my children and pets and cut contact to my family. I went through my savings after I lost my job, trying to find another job and a place to stay. The situation is growing more tense weekly, and I know I need further professional counseling. We need to break away to start anew. Thank you all for any help towards our progress and goal to be able to finally leave.

More financial troubles than before

Posted by bigyikes768 on 2012-04-04 02:58:55

Hi there:

I now realized that my financial woes are much worse than before. Now my state forced us to now spend $282.00 in a now state mandated Medicaid spendown that will take a good chunk of our monthly checks that both my husband and I make together. Our combined total is $2,114.00. According to the state, they claimed "We make way beyond the limit". But one thing they don't understand that other expenses takes a good bite of our checks also. Rent is $1,200.00.00. Cell phones, $170.00. Cable/phone/internet, $190.00. Leaving me/us with little or noting to my/our names. What's worse is he is in a nursing home and it's stressfull enough for me already. Carfare is also expensive to see him every day and it all adds up. My family put more financial pressure to help them also and makes me feel small inside because of what I get each month. It's difficult to have substancial amount to for any entertainment purpose. I hate to go anywhere empty. My pets did not get any of their shots because our finances are high and we can't afford it. With all that I had mentioned above, I'm seriously and desperately need financial help at this time. Whatever I'm getting every will never get me by and I'm barely hanging on a string struggling to make ends meet and I get little or no financial help anywhere else, please. I can't live like this. I can't stand when other put any financial pressure on me. Medical bills are now harder to swallow and I can't hanldle it. The rent is donwright high still and I the rent is outrageously high. Please, I desperately need help right now. I have no one to turn to. Thank you so much. Thank you and God bless.

For kayaker Steven Banks, it is going to be more about physical as well as mental endurance rather than simply covering a set distance around Marco, Goodland and Cape Romano.

Banks, owner of Dreamlander Tours, on April 20 will set out on a 24-mile round trip he estimates will take about 24 hours, including a night stop on the water in the vicinity of Cape Romano when he will be on his own without a back-up team.

He is attempting the feat to raise money for three of his pet charities, the Impact community outreach ministry overseen by local pastor Ben Sprankle; a Malawi, Africa, charitable medical clinic called Partners in Hope; and a Cuaravac, Mexico, mother who is blind and has an epileptic son.

A poignant Marco Island connection is that another of her sons, Benito, worked on the island, raised a family, but died in 2011 from meningitis following a mosquito bite.

Banks had befriended Benito.

“Before he passed, he asked to make sure his mother and brother were taken care of,” Banks said.

A trip to Mexico to meet them prompted Banks to do everything he can for them, and his goal is to have them come to the United States for treatment.

Banks has called his fundraising paddle Kayak Marco 24.

It will consist of the 24-hour paddle that may incur inclement weather and unpredictable winds, put him at risk during the Cape Romano solo stop, and put strain on his body because of being out on the water for such an extended time.

But he is not too worried about that aspect.

As a hands-on guide, he paddles up to five or six hours at least three times a week, so has plenty of residual paddling fitness.

Still, he said, the length of time he will spend out on the water represents an unpredictable challenge, so he is avoiding any kind of complacency.

Banks’ route is not a fixed affair either, other than he starts and finishes at the Snook Inn.

While winds are unpredictable from this far out, tides are not, so Banks is studying charts and conferring with some of his charter fishing captain friends to map out the best places to try to be at certain times.

The combination of headwinds as well as fighting an in- or outgoing tide could be formidable, he said.

If the going is really good, he added, he will probably put in extra miles.

The kayak Banks plans to paddle is not the sleek, 17-foot kind that could zip around Marco, Goodland and Cape Romano in a matter of a few hours.

He will be using an ordinary, fairly short and stable craft that doesn’t have much gliding ability, so every stroke will count.

While Banks’ sole motivation for the endurance paddle is for his three pet causes, a cherry on top may come in the form of recognition by the Guinness Book of Records.

The category would be “longest nonstop time period for a single person kayaking.”

The recognition would be subject to correct and exhaustive documentation, Banks said.

Help My Human Become Debt-Free

Posted by WornHorse on 2012-03-22 04:58:41

After my owner's husband died three years ago, she's had to make a go of it alone and take a series of manual labor jobs to try and support herself and me, her 6-yr-old pet dog. She does not receive any widow's pension as her husband was self-employed and so she has accumulated credit card debt because her own self-employment salary does not cover all of her utility and insurance bills, and some of my vet bills (I had an abcessed tooth, I'm ashamed to say, and that turned into a $400 procedure), and so she's been charging big bills such as auto insurance and machine repairs to her credit card. She says her truck is 15 years old and has over 130,000 miles on it, so she mostly commutes to our nearest town for yard work whenever it's available. She enjoys hard work, but right now, there's not enough of it around to cover our monthly expenses and so she's had to take out loans and we are getting deeper into debt each month. Please help this furry e-panhandler and her mom if you can.

Need Money for Large Vet Bill

Posted by Andrew33 on 2012-03-18 12:58:27

Hi, I am usually very proud but I have no where else to turn. We had to take our pet bunny in because he was acting funny. Turned out he had a huge fur ball lodged in his stomach. In addition he had a kidney infection. The Vet said he could die but thank God he made it through. After x-rays, antibiotics, other medicines and several days staying overnight at the vet he made it through. Problem now is a $2,000+ vet bill. I have no way to pay for this and the vet was so helpful he needs to get his money. If you are a pet lover you know how much they mean to you and you would do anything to get them well. Please help with whatever you can, we would really be grateful. God Bless You!

In need of help to get life started.

Posted by sunshine729 on 2012-03-15 16:58:39

Alright, its been a long hard road but Im finally starting to see the light. Long story short, IM IN A BIND! Im going crazy as to what to do. My mother passed away 2010 & I was no wheres near ready for her to leave me. So without a job, car or a completed education I took off on my own because she was all I had. I lived with friends while I tried to get my things together but there were some really bad, unsafe & unhealthy living situations so I bounced around alot & eventually wasnt able to get my diploma. I thought I finally caught a break, a girl said I could live with her rent free if I was her sitter 5 nights a week, that was quickly ended. After only 3 mths I find out the house was up for foreclosure & was going up for public sale within 3 wks. I finally found a more stable, long term place to stay a few mths ago, Ive looked into getting my GED & I start working in May for at&t customer service, then I can save up money for a car. I really want to get my CNAs but in order to do that I need my GED & the CNA course is $400 & the GED is $70. I would love to be able to take my GED next mth, the tests only come around every other mth & itll be available to take in early April & Id love to sign up for CNA courses after I pass the GED, my next steps after that is to start my at&t job, save up for a car, eventually get a CNA job then go to college while Im working CNA. Just right now Im in a bind, I cant seem to find a way to make money. Ive offered babysitting, pet sitting/grooming, housecleaning, lawn mowing, and no ones taken me up on my offers. $470 would change my life as silly as that sounds, but it would. Ive lost my mom, been homeless, ive been hungry for days, & Ive felt like I coulntor wouldnt make it, well thanks to some amazing people who are allowing me to stay here rent free until Im able to get on my feet I finally feel like things are starting to look up, I just need a littlr nudge in the right direction & financially Im unable to do it on my own. I hope someones willing to help me, help myself have a good life. Truth is Im terrified of doing it all alone, but I gotta make my momcproud & do whats best. Thanks everyone for reading :)

anyone who is an animal lover knows what i am going through. my dog is so much more than a pet, he has seen me thru the worst times. recently blood starting pouring out thru his urinary tract. i scooped him up and rushed him to the vet. several tests later and still inconclusive . tomorrow he is going for an ultrasound. these bills are a true hardship but i will do anything to make him comfortable. i am not asking for myself, times have never been this bad for me (like many)i am on disability and have not been able to pay my mortgage, that is another story, and that is fine. i always say as long as i have a roof over my head and my dog i will be fine (i have no family, my mother died peacefully in this home we shared 2.5yrs ago) any help would be welcome. i will provide vet bills if you like. thank you.

WE WANT TO BUILD A LOW COST ANIMAL CLINIC

Posted by babykatt on 2012-02-15 01:58:42

Hi, My name is Jennifer and I volunteer with (ETSN)
East TN Spay & Neuter. They are a non-profit corporation, with the sole purpose to end the use of euthanasia as population control for companion animals. They're a small, all-volunteer group that provides transport to a regional low-cost spay-neuter clinic and education about proper pet care. They also assist low-income families in finding financial aid for surgery and related costs.
They have a few projects going on that need support.
ETSN is trying to build a low cost vet clinic in our area. They are needing donations such as.....
*copy paper, paperclips, other office supplies.
*gas cards work great to help with transports
*medical equipment and supplies for the clinic
*more volunteers to help get the word out
*pet food and supplies for the clinic and pantry
*cash is always good too.
I DO NOT WANT YOU TO DONATE TO ME!!!!!
Please visit the website below and you will have all the information you will need
www.etnspay-neuter.org
There are also other ways to help like cashing in your old cell phones or inkjet cartridges.
Please think about helping our cause and thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I volunteer with East TN Spay & Neuter. ETSN is a non profit organization to help people with low income be able to get their pets fixed. ETSN is also trying to build a low cost clinic in our area. By doing this, people won't be taking their pets to the pound, where they will be killed, just because they cant afford to get their shots and care.
You don't have to donate money if you don't want to, though money is good too. We also need other items such as ...
Pet food, blankets, containers for food, Services, items, GAS or gift cards, or contributions toward the following would be greatly appreciated:

Veteran Husband recently passed away, no where to turn.

Posted by airbrshldy on 2012-02-11 10:58:09

Hi
My husband, who is a Vietnam vet, passed away recently (October 8th, 2011) from Bone and Lung Cancer at home. First of all, he wanted to spend the rest of his life home with me and our pets (three Mini Dachshunds and two kitties). Also, the VA wouldn't be able to control his pain enough so that he could enjoy the remainder of his life so he went under Hospice care. They strive for quality of life and they were amazing.

The problem with that was that when you die at home, the VA covers nothing at all. Had he died in the VA they would've covered his funeral expenses. We didn't have life insurance. He had started a policy, but the bill for the first payment came in on Monday, the 10th. He died Saturday the 8th.

He died here at home and then was placed in the funeral home morgue until we could come up with enough of a down payment for his funeral (I believe it was $2000.00) I still owe something around $5,000. He stayed in that morgue for around three weeks before we could gather up that money. Not a good way to treat a vet at all.

I had left my job to take care of and be with him until he died, this is what he wanted. We didn't have insurance or any kind of state medical help. We lived on his disability check that he received monthly. There are no survivor benefits, VA or Social Security I've been told either. We had only been married a year. We have been together since 2002, but got married Sept. 21, 2010. We had our first anniversary a couple weeks before he died. As far as I know, SS people have told me we must have been married for ten years in order to get any kind of survivor benefits.

We had sold our boat, truck, and spent any money that we had toward our living expenses and to help with down-payment on funeral.

Now, I'm back to work but it is part time, I make $7.50 per hour (sometimes as little as 20 hours every two weeks). Telephone survey taker. I don't qualify for state help other than food stamps.

I've been looking for work since he died and not getting any responses at all. I am on the Michworks website numerous times a day, every day besides checking the local papers, and any other things I can think of.

Right now as I write this, I am due to lose our home (we rented this for the last nine years). My rent was due on the first. I have borrowed money, sold household items, and gotten help from the area charity places that I could. Every month has been a struggle and every month I think "okay, I've gotten the rent paid this month and I SHOULD have a new job by the next time the rent is due", but sadly it is not working that way. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm beginning to lose faith. I absolutely cannot get rid of our pets either. I promised I would never let anything happen to them and I wont. Besides, they are our little ones, our family that we had together. They are also what is keeping me going. I cannot imagine life without them and him too.

I am at the end of my rope now. I didn't want to resort to this and it really is a blow but I don't know what else to do anymore.

I hope that there is someone out there that will read this and be able to help me somehow.

Thank you so much.

Giving Up

My name is Kirsty and I am 21. I live with my boyfriend and pet rabbit. I'm on the sick and have been told I'll not be able to return to work. My sick pay has been less that £30 a week as my work aren't very efficient and my boyfriend is only part time. I've tried to get benefits to pay my rent and bills, but they've messed me about so much and I've been waiting 3 months to get the money. I've suffered with depression for 10 years, I can't afford my medication, can't feed the rabbit and I get out about once every 3 weeks as we have to share our bus pass and I can't afford to go anywhere or see my friends. All my bills are piling up as I can't pay one of them. I'm 2 months behind on rent. I've lived here for over 1 year and a half and I've been up to date with payments until recently. I'm reaching the end of my tether as my boyfriend can't help and he's done enough in the way of looking after me at my worst of times. I'm too young to be going through this at the moment. I'd appreciate all the help I can get. I have no family to rely on and no friends who are willing to help as they're not so well off themselves. Thank you in advance and I hope this all makes sense. I've never had to do this before and I'm currently in need of nearly £5000, but every little helps all the same. Please.

groomer needs help

Posted by Goodgroomer on 2012-02-02 16:58:54

I have worked as a dog groomer for 15 years. The economy has been hard on the field (a lot of people are doing it themselves), and even though I supplement my income with private grooming, going to people's homes, I still make about $400.00 less a month than it takes to pay my minimal bills. I constantly borrow on my direct deposit advance. My 16 year old car needs more work than I can afford. Most of my private clients are elderly so I don't charge as much as most groomers would. I'm also a pet portrait artist and cannot afford the colored pencils and paper I need to draw. The company my boss uses for payroll accidentally put $2,000.00 extra into my account (I nearly fainted). I was honest and told my boss. The money was withdrawn and now I'm back to juggeling my bills. I need enough to buy a decent used car and pay my bills, buy new grooming tools and advertise my business. So tired of struggeling. Thank you.

Help with vets fees

I have had to take our pet dog to the vets for knee surgery (TTA) and we are going to struggle to pay this. Our insurers won't cover all the costs and we need to pay up front.
