How Can The Rich Help The Poor?

Posted by rwbovee on 2012-05-24 11:58:07

"How can the rich help the poor?" you may ask. Here's how. I'm a poor minister, currently working in a factory. I drive an old, rusty 1985 Chevy Citation. My mechanic tells me I need a newer car right away but I don't have any money for one. It's so rusty the frame has cracked. It's literally being held together with a wire and chain so the frame doesn't rub on a back tire and give me a flat. And I need this to drive 12 miles and back to work every day to keep my paychecks coming in and for my ministry activities. And now the transmission is starting to go too. I can get a newer one right now for $5,000 that would last me for years but have no money and bad credit. So if you're asking the question, "How can the rich help the poor?" here's how. Mail a check or money order for all or any part of the money I need, anything will help, to:

In Financial bondage

Posted by Deelc on 2012-05-23 12:58:32

I am in much financial bondage right now as my rent is very late, and ALL of my bills are late. My utilities are going to be shut off shortly, etc. I was just hired by 3 different agencies but I don't begin working until Mid-June. I only have a couple dollars to my name, which i'm trying to stretch for gas to get to interviews.

My bank account is in the red, so I have a large hole to climb out of before I can even pay my bills. I desperately need assistance to survive until I receive my first paychecks. Thank you so much!

Trapped in a homeless shelter

Posted by Lost_in_KY on 2012-05-12 10:58:50

I'm about to be 51 years old and never thought I'd do something like this, but here goes.

I am disabled from a car wreck with a semi, among other conditions. I was on disability for 15 years, but lost it almost 5 years ago because the guy I roomed with was always gone and was supposed to take me to my doctor and Social Security review appointments. Then he got us thrown out of the apartment because he had hoarded his paychecks, was living off my money, and wasn't paying the rent or bills. He left me with a $1600 light bill ! I didn't find out any of this until we were evicted.

I have been homeless ever since, for nearly 5 years, bounced around from place to place, unable to stay in one place long enough to get thru the Social Security application process - I had to start all over again. In 2010, I spent 8 month living in a closet in Columbus, OH and starved.

I had a Social Security hearing in Lexington, KY last August and was dropped off at a horrible homeless shelter in Lexington, to stay until my hearing, when I was assured by a 'free' lawyer I'd get my disability back. I didn't and now I've been trapped in this gulag for more than 10 months, among druggies, alcholics, and ex-cons dumped off here by the police and the Dept. of Corrections. The building is infested wih bedbugs and there is black mold everywhere, which caused me to have an inner ear infection that finally blew a hole in my eardrum since I couldn't get treated for it. Men sleep on the floors and the bathroom is a chamber of horrors. I've had food poisoning 4 times and a couple months ago, more than 40 men sought treatment for food poisoning. The nurse who reported the cases to the Health Dept suddenly left, while the cook remains at work. A Veteran's Admin rep said he wouldn't give the food served here to his dog.

I'm trapped here because Kentucky discriminates against men in that it will not give us Medicaid cards unless we're already on Social Security. This prevents me from having a family doctor and care for my disabilities, which I need in order to win back my benefits. Under these conditions, I will never be able to get out of this nightmare.

I have a friend in Florida who wants me to come down there. FL will give me a Medicaid card and I could at least have a fighting chance to win my disability back. As I've said; I was on it for 15 years and was repeatedly approved every 2 years during the case reviews. I need to get out of this awful state if this nightmare is ever to end. I've lost almost 11 months of my life being warehoused in a place that's one step above prison, and I've done nothing wrong to deserve this. Yet I'm subject to the same rules and restrictions as the ex-cons who live on the floors above me.

I have no family left to fall back on, so all I can do is ask for help. I need money to get to FL so I can get a doctor and my disabillity back, and have a life again. It will cost around $500 to get my things shipped to Orlando, and another $200 to get me there. Then I'd need somewhere to stay until I can get thru the Social Security process again. After that, I'd be OK.

Thank you for reading all this any any help offered would change my life. I would do everything I could to help other homeless men so as to give back help given me when I most needed it.

Lost childhood from always working to pay bills

Posted by saraboo on 2012-05-10 01:58:17

Hi,
If someone actually reads this I hope you can reach out and help my family. I guess where to begin would be difficult for me since having to hear about money started at a young age. I could give you a whole sob story but I am not going to I'll just tell you a little about ourselves. My momma was a high school dropout and had three kids me included, she never went back to get a higher education. She married my step dad when I was around seven years old. My middle eldest brother is mentally retarded and my mom did so much trying to help him but it did not work so now he is in a halfway house hopefully being set onto the right path. My step dad is somewhat of an emotionless person because of the way he grew up and because of a leg injury from last year has a hard time finding a job he can do despite all the searching he has done. My eldest brother is so smart but he's wasting his life away at a fast food franchise called cookout, but the brightside for him is he has found true love and expecting a baby. Now onto me I tried looking online to see if their was anything an eighteen year old like me could do to get some extra much needed money for bills but had no luck because they all need money first which is what I don't have. My mom and me have always been very close and im so sick and depressed of seeing her waste away trying to pay all of the bills with what little money she earns at a dead end job. I give my weekly paychecks to my mom just so she can make ends meet and we both only work part time due to all the cut backs on hours from the recession going on. I don't know what else I can say except it would be a miracle from God if something from posting this would happen because I am so unlucky I can't imagine ever winning anything and we are just an ordinary family nothing special about us except that we're in desperate need of a hero.

Need Back Surgery

I am a 39-year-old woman living in the Nashville area who has been off of work without pay for the last month. Though I am employed full-time, I have run out of paid time off and am currently on medical leave until I can have back surgery. The surgery itself is not complicated, but it would entail 3 days of a hospital stay, 2 weeks of physical therapy to assist in regaining my mobility, and 4-5 more weeks off before I can return to work. This surgery, though necessary, was unanticipated and I do not have money saved to sustain myself for another 2 months off. I do not have children, so I am ineligible for cash assistance through local government. I do not have short-term disability through my employer. I am ineligible for short-term disability through the government because my condition does not require that I am off work for 12 months, nor will it result in my death. I am also not being allowed to withdraw from my retirement for hardship reasons because, according to them, I am -only- contributing the mandatory amount. I also do not have -perfect credit- so I am unable to go out and obtain a loan for what I need. I have tried so many avenues and have hit dead ends each time. My goal is to raise $2500 to cover rent and expenses for up to three months: 2 months of actual recovery time and an additional months worth for incidentals and to give me time to return to work and have regular paychecks come in. Please help so that I can regain my ability to walk without pain and return to work. Thank you.

I am a single mom who lost her child support, then lost our home, just when I thought we were going to make it our car broke down. I had to buy a new engine which emptied the little bit of savings I had and took two paychecks. I really need some help and I dont know where else to turn. Our gas has been turned off rent is due and we have no food and I have limited funds to put gas in my car to get to and from work. My main concern is I have nothing to feed my 7 year old daughter and I wont until next payday which is almost 2 weeks away and will only provide food for a short time because I will have to pay the rent for May. Any assistance will be appreciated and paid forward with any extra I may have. Thank you for reading my story.

Please help mom & toddler!!!

I am a 30yr old single mother to an 18 month old toddler. I work a full time job to support myself and my son but had an emergency surgery that left me in steep medical bills. While the hospital's Charity Care took care of a lot of it, I owe $4000 which is being taken out of my paychecks. As a result, we are struggling bad.I've done everything to try and get loans to pay off the debt but have not been approved. I'm on the verge of losing my apartment and am having trouble paying my utilities and keeping food on the table. It's very sad times. I love my son more than anything in this world and I just want to get past this. Anything helps!

Medical bills are overwhelming me

Posted by l3roken on 2012-03-20 07:58:14

I'm 34 years old and I am here to beg for help. I need help with paying a medical debt, current medical bills, continued health care, and also catching up on household bills as all of those are at minimum 1 month behind now.

I have had a variety of health problems for the last few years, these have also interfered with my employment. While I am still employed part time for now, it is nearly impossible for me to work more than that. The most recent issue had me in a wheelchair and on crutches for several months. I'm walking now, but with a great deal of pain. I don't have insurance and I can't afford the physical therapy I need to help get me back to somewhat normal.

I have several thousand dollars in medical bills. A huge issue at the moment is that one of my many med bills had been sent to collection, then I was sued and a garnishment was granted. My paychecks are not even up to the minimum for garnishment, so they have refiled to freeze my bank account and take my money from there instead. They wouldn't get anything out of it at the moment since I'm broke, but it would leave me unable to use my account to pay my basic bills such as rent, electricity, water, etc.

I also need to see a dentist and an optometrist. It has been several years since I have seen either and I need new glasses and 2 crowns. I've been living on borrowed time with the 2 temporary crowns that were put in several years ago.

I have a very small family and I cannot turn to them because only my stepfather is working and he is already supporting my mother, my sister, & my nephew.

Just to get the bank garnishment taken care of and help me get back to the doctor I need a little over $1900.00. Any more would go to my other medical/dental/vision expenses.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for donating.

Please Help

Hi, I am a single mother and I'm living with my mom and my little brother. We are really struggling right now. My mom hasn't gotten a pay raise in years but our rent keeps going up and by the time she uses two of her paychecks to pay rent and we pay the bills with the little money we have left and that I get we barely have enough money to buy food and the things we need. After I got pregnant I stayed home with my daughter and little brother. And now I'm trying to look for work and I'm putting on applications but haven't had a lot of luck because jobs are hard to come by now. We have been to social services but they say my mom makes to much for us to get any assistance and we are one check away from being evicted. If you can help in any way at all it would be a HUGE blessing to my family and I. Thank you for your time and patience in reading this.

My life is a lifetime movie:(

Posted by DrowningSadly on 2012-02-22 00:58:46

Without telling you my whole life story and perhaps making you cry for hours, I'll highlight some of the big things that led me to this site.

I grew up with one parent. My mother, who struggled to make ends meet working as a CNA. When I was 16 I had two jobs to help with the bills my mom had.

When I was seventeen I was sexually assaulted by a supposed friend and conceived a child which I of course kept. I had my daughter only four days after graduating high school with very good grades.

Went to College for criminal justice in hopes of becoming a law enforcement officer or work at a correctional facility. Then I met a guy I fell in love with, we had a child together. He asked me to Marry him, and then 6 months after we got engaged, left me for someone ten years younger than me.

Here I sit. Single Mom, two kids. I did graduate college, and get a job in my field, however that isn't helping at all with catching up on all the bills my ex left me with and my student loan debt which is in default because I'm going paycheck to paycheck.

I don't qualify for any type of help, I wanted to file bankruptcy however an attorney is at least a thousand dollars which would take me like two years to save up for so I'm trying to file that myself to help my situation. My family is dysfunctional and I have no rich uncles or grandparents.

I dont understand why god thinks I have such strong shoulders! I can't carry this burden of life I have. It seems like there isn't a way out!! I'm facing losing my home, my paychecks that keep me going due to student loan ganishments, and I'm so stressed out I ant even think most days. How did I get here? I ask myself if I'm that bad of a person Karma has to hold me down and suffocate me?

I wish I could get any kind of help in life, even someone to tell me what to do!! I tried donating plasma but they kicked me out because my veins roll, I can't get anyone to hire me for a second job with the hours I work, and damnit my life just flipping sucks!!!!

Thanks for reading, I hope your life is better than mine is.

Need rent

Posted by worklesswitch on 2012-01-25 13:58:42

I have taken pride in being able t pay my own bills and always saw to it my rent and all was paid first out of my paychecks.
On December 23 201l, I went to work as usual on ly to leave work that day without a job. Everyone fears this.
I am now 5 weeks behind in rent and am about to be thrown on the street. I go out every day seeking work but there just does not seem to be anything out there. I have applied for shipping and receiving jobs for which I have experience, but apparently 10 years is not enough experience.
I would much rather be working so any job leads would be greatly appreciated. I have to prioritize and keeping a roof over my head is also a high priority. I will even consider some type of work that I can do at home without a computer if necessary. I need to get the rent paid and get a steady income. There are jobs that I could do but could not apply for because I don't have the years of experience the employer wants. I realize that there are many people in need. I don't have family or friends to fall back on like most people. I have been pretty much a loner.
$525.00 would pay the back rent and help me keep my place. I tried to go to Family Independent Agency but they won't help until I can get a job. My past employer is fighting my unemployment and it is now in the protest stage. I had hoped to have it by now.

Overwhelmed & out of time

Posted by AshleyWat on 2012-01-24 12:58:43

This is very hard to do, and I hate to say I believe it is just something I am doing out of desperation & deep down inside I think it doesn't matter & I will not be helped but here it goes .... I am 27 years old single female. At the end of September I moved into my parents house leaving my apartment behind to help them out financial. My mother who is capable of working has been out of work for 4 years now. She has a sever drinking problem & I know she is suffering from horrible depression. My father is a truck driver and works 12 plus hours a day & between my checks & his we just can't cut. It seems like whatever we do we cannot catch up on what's past due. Due to me handing over my paychecks so they don't get evicted I have now fallen behind myself. I received a letter in the mail the other day that my truck is going to be reposed because I have fallen 3 payments behind. If I could just get 3,000.00 dollars I can pay their rent they are behind on & pay at-least 2 of my truck payments so we can survive. I feel as if I am just speaking out aloud & no one will listen but I guess it's worth a try. Thank-you to whoever is listening ... god bless. Ashley

Hello. I am in desperate need of financial help. We are a family of four - my husband, myself, and two young children. Due to the economy, I am the sole-wage earner. I teach students with special needs. We have tried many things to help us, mainly selling various items from our home. It is extremely difficult to stretch my small paychecks. I will give you an example - I was just paid two days ago and we now have ten dollars to our name. We are honest, hard working people. Our money goes to what bills we can pay, gas and food. We rely HEAVILY on payday loans, which in the longrun has only worsened our situation. We have gone without paying pills to the point of various service interruptions and we have accumulated much debt over the past year. If you could donate even just a small amount, please know that it is MUCH needed and appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

I need help

Posted by lunaambrose on 2011-12-06 10:58:14

I am sad and humbled to ask, but I need some real help. My husband lost his job, I only work VERY part time (like 2 hours a day) and we have 2 small boys. (ages 2 and almost 4). I just used the last of the cereal for the kids this morning, and we have no food left for them. My husband is looking every day for a new job, but until that happens, my tiny paychecks are not going to pay our bills - and feed us, and everything else we need. Right now - anything will help. We've applied for assistance, but I've heard that could take a few weeks to start... I can't let my boys go without food, I don't mind not eating, but its not fair to them.

Every little bit will help us right now... Please - I am grateful for everything... Thank you and happy holidays.

Wife has cancer, don't know how we'll pay the bills...

Posted by tolenmar on 2011-11-08 12:58:42

My wife is a nurse. She works Hospice. For the twenty plus years I've known her, the one thing I could say about her is that she is a very giving person. The things she does to make sure everyone else is cared for, the way she puts everyone else before herself, are some of her best defining characteristics. Our son, bless him, is almost exactly like her. But now, as the holidays loom, she's become very ill.

My wife had uterine cancer. They performed surgery this weekend, and were surprised to find a lot more cancer outside the uterus and of a more aggressive type than their tests indicated.

Now we are looking at at least 6 months of chemo and radiation therapy. She goes in this weekend to have another tumor biopsied.

She's on leave of absence from work. I have a job, but it pays terribly. I'm looking for something better. When it was just going to be one surgery and done, we knew things would get tight, but her recovery would let her get back to work without us losing anything. Now with her being out of work a further six months, we just don't know how we're going make it all work.

We're on a medical card now, so the bills from her treatment are paid. We get food stamps, so we can eat. What we don't have is a way to pay the mortgage or car payment or any of the other bills that come up on a monthly basis. My paychecks are far from enough. I'm going to work every shift they give me, but by myself, I can't do it.

Every little bit helps. Thank you, and god bless.

Need to pay off child support not a deadbeat

Posted by brokenkansas on 2011-10-13 20:58:23

In short I was naive. My ex-wife screwed me over on child support. The order was from out of state, so I couldn't afford to travel to go to court. I thought it would be post-poned.Instead a absentee judgment was ordered. Instead of the 379.00 a month to pay by state guidlines I pay over 800.00. I wasn't told of the judgement for 8 months. So I ended up going 13,000 behind. i have lost a job or two and haven't worked the whole time so now I owe over 42,000 and pay 800.00 a month and about to be homeless. I can't afford my bills and my paychecks do not cover much after the child support is paid. i have tried to fix this situation several times but its out of state and I can't travel. I need somebody's help. I even tried sending letters and e-mails to a congressman, a senator and The president. A senator followed up but explained he couldn't help me? I am about at the end of my rope. I am slowly drowning.

Single mom in desperate need of help.

I am 27 and raise my 6 year old daughter on my own. I don't get child support from her dead beat father. I was unemployed for months after being laid off, ended up going back to school, and finally found a job again but get paid minimum wage. I had to stop school for the time being because I can't deal with the stress and need to work as many hours as I can to make ends meet. I still can only get about 30 hours a week which isn't enough to pay my bills. I had to get a cash advance to pay my rent this month and my next two paychecks will barely cover next months rent. I can't afford to keep my car, and planned on waiting for my tax money, but I will have no way to get to work in the meantime. I am trying to find a 2nd job with no luck. I am so stressed. I have depression and anxiety which makes things harder. I am so terrified that soon we will be without a car, and possibly without a place to live. I really don't know what else to do. I am losing hope. Thank you for reading.

I am a single mom to my 5-year-old daughter. My car broke down, and I had to use 2 paychecks to fix it. I have COPD which has caused medical bills that I'm trying to pay. My insurance doesn't cover the medicine I need.

My rent is $800, and any amount would help me not lose our apartment. My family is struggling too and can't loan me any money.

I promise to pay it forward when I get back on my feet. God bless you.
