Single mother and 2 young children facing eviction

Posted by singlemommy77 on 2012-05-04 12:58:10

Hi, I am a single mother of a 7 year old and a 9 year old. I was laid off of work in February when the company I worked for closed its doors. I receive unemployment but it is not near enough to cover bills. I have gotten extremely behind on my bills because my landlords have been very patient with me but I fear that their patience is running out as they have told me that if I can not get caught up soon than I will have to find somewhere to go. I fear that my children and I will end up on the street because I have no where to go. Please anything that you can help me with would be greatly appreciated.

To little time to save and now my heat pump went out too.

I have a job, but after our families health insurance is taken out I only bring home $78 every two weeks. I know your thinking cancel it. You can only cancel once a year or of course you lose it if you leave this job. I don't want to leave this job.
Why is it so special, I work with special needs students. It's a very intense job, ages range from 14 -22 years of age. It takes a lot of patience and tolerance for the unexpected to happen. I have what it takes to do this job. Except money. I'm a teachers assistant. I trying to go to school to get a degree. I can't handle over two classes a semester. I have medical issues too, I'm to afraid to cancel my insurance due to the fact I have to go to the doctor and have regular check ups. We do not qualify for aid.

My marriage is not in the best of health either. I need help to save my home, maybe my marriage and my job. This is not easy for me. I'm just very scared, maybe someone will understand what I'm saying, I want to keep what I have, it's not much, I want to continue working in the job I have, I know it isn't going to pay my bills, but if I can get caught up I can still be there for those special kids. Finally, if the strain of being on the verge of losing our house is gone maybe I can heal my marriage. I don't want to throw away 30 years of my life.

We found out yesterday that our heat pump has gone out and needs to be replaced. I know air conditioning is a luxury but here in Florida it is almost a necessity. Especially if you have health problems.

And if you can't do anything for me, just pray for us, God bless, hopefully

To much, not enough time

I have posted here before, but I didn't confirm my email address so if anyone has tried to donate they couldn't.

My story is, I'm in my forties, married for 30 years. I have been happy and unhappy.Right now I'm unhappy.

We owe very little money on our house. However we are going to lose it to foreclosure unless we come up with seven thousand dollars. We have sold everything of value that we could sell.

We have always been hard working people, helped others when they needed it. Now we need help and have no one to turn to.

to whom this may concern..i'm a female and i love cutting mens hair..barber school costs $5,000. that i can't afford. i cut hair like a master barber already. i'm meant for this. who ever reads this, you can give the money to the school yourself. this is not a scheme to get money. who ever decide to,i can show picture's of my work and even cut a head right in front of you. this is my passion. i feel bad that i finally know what i want to do with my life and i'm 31. what's eeven worse is i had 10,000 at one time, when i was 21. i was young and dumb. i so learned to never waist a dollar.lol.but so serious. cause now i'm here asking for 5grand and had 10grand at one time. i didn't know then what i wanted to do with my life. the older i got,the more it sanked in that time is ticking. i got interested in hair cutting when i cut my long hair off,and i had to keep up the look. i love the crisp clean look, with a sexy design. i have the patience and the eye for perfection..thank you...

Please Help

Posted by ajone170 on 2012-03-03 20:58:31

Hi, I am a single mother and I'm living with my mom and my little brother. We are really struggling right now. My mom hasn't gotten a pay raise in years but our rent keeps going up and by the time she uses two of her paychecks to pay rent and we pay the bills with the little money we have left and that I get we barely have enough money to buy food and the things we need. After I got pregnant I stayed home with my daughter and little brother. And now I'm trying to look for work and I'm putting on applications but haven't had a lot of luck because jobs are hard to come by now. We have been to social services but they say my mom makes to much for us to get any assistance and we are one check away from being evicted. If you can help in any way at all it would be a HUGE blessing to my family and I. Thank you for your time and patience in reading this.

unemployed musician would appreciate some help

Posted by musicman83 on 2012-02-07 17:58:53

I guess to begin I should say I'm not in a life or death situation but I really could use some help.

Since I graduated from university, studying music I have worked in customer service as there were not a lot of jobs available where I live, but I was laid off from my job 12 months ago and got behind with my rent by a couple of months, which landed me in £600 worth of debt on top of the debts I had accumulated as a student.

However I found a new job after a couple of months and everything seemed to be looking like it would work out but after a month of working there I had to take 2 days off sick and my new employer decided to terminate my employment. I went back to applying for jobs and selling my stuff to pawn shops to try and make ends meet, receiving benefits but although I could eat and keep a roof over my head I couldn't pay off my outstanding rent.

Then after a few months of looking for work I was helping my mum's friend out with some heavy lifting and helping with her garden work as she lives alone and ended up with a really bad inguinal hernia which left me incapacitated until I could get surgery, I had the surgery which fixed the problem but the surgeon advised me the hernia was a very large one and they had to make a 7 inch incision in order to be able to remove it which left me bedridden for a couple of weeks after.

Then the worst thing happened, I was offered an interview for my dream job a few days after my surgery, I explained my situation and told the employer how much I wanted this job but they said they were really sorry but they needed someone immediately and could not wait.

One of my friends told me about these websites where people help out people in bad money situations. So I guess I'm hoping someone can see fit to help me because I'm not doing too well resolving my problems alone.

My plan is to try and get as much of the £600 rent I owe so I can pay my rent off and re-locate as jobs are so scarce where I live.
I spoke to my landlord and asked if I could move out to re-locate and pay them back when I get a job but they said they're sorry but I need to pay up to date before I move out, so I'm stuck here with no job prospects, I can't just leave owing them this money and run away from the debt because I feel I am a moral and generally decent person and after the understanding and patience they have shown me in putting up with this situation for a year, running out on them would be a disgraceful thing to do to them.

Thank you for reading this and if you can help me sort myself out I will be eternally grateful to you

My son just got accepted into FUMA

Posted by frsno1 on 2011-12-23 13:58:37

This story is about my 13 year old son, Alejandro Jr. I will not be writing about anything that is sad or depressing, but about something that is wonderful and cause to celebrate. I am writing to share that my son has been accepted into the Fork Union Military Academy, located outside of Richmond, Virginia.

Me and my family are excited about this huge opportunity for my son. The road to get there was not easy however, but God answered our prayers. Alejandro Jr. has always been a very active child with an even more active imagination. As a baby, me and my wife would hear him play all night and could never sit still. During his elementary school days, his teachers would always remark how intelligent he was, but could just never sit still or not be a distraction to his class. What could I say, that is the way he was born.

But he went through elementary school on the honor roll each and every year he was there all the way through 6th grade. He was ready to go into middle school. When he entered into the 7th grade, things changed. There was a lot of bad influence and it started to affect my son because he has always been so innocent. His grades suffered, but he still scored in the top 97% of students in the end of the year state testing.

8th grade fared no better. He wasn’t the same anymore. He didn’t go to a good middle school. Lots of gangs and rumor has it drug dealing was going on there as well. His teachers didn’t care about him because he wasn’t doing the work, but he would still score 100 % on his quizzes and tests. His school wasn’t any help either. My son wasn’t being challenged, he knew the material, but he was not going to thrive in that environment, it seems he was getting harassed by his teachers and staff.

We wanted to remove him from that school as we had been fed up with the school district for a while now. We looked to see if there was an environment where he would thrive. After much research, we heard about the Fork Union Military Academy, which is an all boys military school. We took a look and my son loved it. This fits right in with his goal of joining the United States Marine Corps after high school.

We have been blessed that financial aid has covered roughly half of the tuition, but we are still in need of the other half, which is $10,000, which is due in 5 months. I am asking for any generous donation(s) that one may feel the need to contribute too. If you find it in your heart to do so, me and my family could not thank you enough and if you decide not to do so, thank you for your patience in reading about my son’s story. I wish a Happy Christmas to all.

It can also be done from your pictures or from photos of any person, portrait, object or landscape Shipping is unframed via registered airmail in a Bubble envelope or a cardboard or plastic tube for protection. Please, help us survive until the IRS Refund arrives?

Posted by BadTiming on 2011-12-15 02:58:24

I am submitting this request because we are in serious need of help. I know my story is long. I pray you will have the patience to read it through & consider my request.

I am a single mom of 2 sons; 1 grown & doing wonderfully in the world & the other just entering his teen years. I've raised both boys on my own, survived despite chronic poverty & worked very hard for the past 25 years to do so. I am an unusually-talented & tenaceous woman, having changed careers several times in order to assure that my boys were always properly taken care of. Since 1995, I've worked in positions where I was unsupervised & done well ethically in that type of independent environment. As a subcontracted cab driver for the past 5 years, I've worked 60+ hours a week consistently, without vacation or any other benefits. I've missed only 8 workdays in all that time: 3 days for illness & 5 days straight this past August to care for my mother while she died. I'll be happy to provide direct contact with the cab company owner, should you wish to verify this information.

Several things have changed for me in the past few weeks. I came across an opportunity to start my own business. I crave the day when my earnings are no longer confined to poverty levels & the majority of my waking hours dictated by the terms of a subcontracted position. At 49, I'm still young enough to start fresh again, during these last few years before my youngest son flies the coup. I'm already well-practiced at working on my own. It's finally time for me to do that & reap the rewards as well.

In the meantime, my demanding schedule caused me to be lax in filing tax papers for 2008 & 2009. So, the last week of October, I filed the 2008 returns through a local tax preparer. I've just completed the 2009 books & submitted those to the tax preparer 2 days ago. The importance of the tax filings is that I have a refund of $2000 coming to me from 2008. The tax preparer told me it would take 2 to 4 weeks to receive those funds. So I began preparations to become this region's very first fully-trained SmartPhone & Tablet Repair Tech. Being a frugal woman, I formulated a plan to use the tax refund to pay $395 for the 10 days training & startup business tools. My son & I can easily live off of the remaining money while I launch my business. And with the additional refund from 2009 pending in another 6 to 8 weeks, I will be well-set to get my business rolling.

With the business plan & pending refund in mind; & following a serious disagreement on matters of proper customer service; I gave the cab company 30 days written notice & finished my last day on November 6th. I left on good terms with an option to return. But the owner has since filled my position, so even if I returned immediately, the hours would be sparse. Plus, I could no longer be happy there, having to repeatedly apologize to my customers because the company owner habitually re-contracts drivers of poor character. Swearing at, name-calling & being generally rude to customers & co-workers is unacceptable behavior, in my code of ethics.

However, my tax refund has yet to materialize. I called the IRS just today & finally got some information on my refund status. I already phoned them just 2 weeks ago to correct a major error by the tax preparer. The kind young woman I spoke with today informed me of yet another major error by the tax preparer; & because of that error, it will now be another month before they send a refund to me!

So here I am, trying to keep the faith & maintain my patience, but stressing over unpaid bills. The first of the month has passed. I live in HUD subsidized housing, & my rent is only $110, but it was due by the 5th. I have never been late with my rent, but this month I had to practically beg for the apartment managers to be patient in getting the rent paid. There are also utility bills of nearly $200 due, & my prepaid phone was shut off for several days last week until a good friend paid that bill for me. I had faith in my tax preparer & was counting on having my refund by now to pay those bills. Needless to say, I am very unhappy with his service at this point.

I spent 2 weeks trying to get a 'payday' or personal loan. But because I was a subcontractor & now I'm unemployed, no one is willing to make such a loan. I even dedicated a full day last week to 14 fruitless hours straight online, just trying to click enough surveys to pay the $50 phone bill. I receive no child support or welfare benefits. Sadly for my son, Santa will not be arriving until well after Christmas. At this point, my income is 0.

So what I am asking for is just enough money to get us by until the tax refund arrives. I can reasonably make $750 stretch through to mid-January.

I am proud. It is hard for me to ask for this. But it is even harder to grovel to my landlords & the utility companies. And it was never my intent to risk us losing our home. I am deeply concerned that this may happen. The timing is simply bad for us not to have our refund yet. I wish my tax preparer had done a better job for me.

I have been blessed with great health & an optimistic outlook, despite all my life's trials. Others are not nearly so lucky & I am truly grateful for my blessings. I am also grateful to you for your consideration in this matter. Giving to others to help them improve their lives is indeed a noble endeavor. Bless you

Dad of 3 boys in need of help

Posted by nathanw on 2011-11-17 01:58:53

I need help in many areas. My biggest need right now is to help get food on the table for my kids and get them some winter clothes as it gets very cold here in michigan. My wife was laid off and subsequently denied unemployment and has since not been able to find new work. I am working but it takes everything I make topay our bills. Most weeks we have maybe $40 for grocery's and with 3 boy's age 14,11, and 10 it is very difficult to but healthy food for them. We have applied for food assistance but that can take up to 6 weeks here in michigan.

With our finances being as tight as they are getting them clothes and new winter coats and hats just is not in the budget luckily it has not been too cold yet but those days are coming and fast.

I could not ask for better children they never complain about not having much, never complain about not having the newest clothes or the best shoes they really are good kids. I know the day is coming when I will be able to provide for them the way I want to, Just need the patience to get there.

I know there are many people struggling right now, I get that. I am not saying that my situation is any more dire than any other family. All I am asking is if you can help please do so, if not thank you for taking the time to read my post.... god bless

NEED HELP WITH CAR

Posted by slamb1 on 2011-10-20 20:58:35

I'm in desperate need of help. Four years ago, I graduated into recession, I got temp job but I needed reliable transportation. So, I got 2004 Chrysler Sebring, it was practical car that took care of me and I was able to take care of the payments.
Consequently, my life went downhill because after February 2009, I got laid off and I got hurt and had to get on disability for a year. When I got healed, I look very hard for employment with determination and persistence I found a part time job at Denny’s in August 2011. I was happy about it because my unemployment exhausted in July of 2011 so it was blessing. But until then I was able to take care of my car payment because unemployment gave me enough to take care all of my bills.
Sadly, I work 8 hours a week for $ 8. So, I’m only receiving $200 a month to pay for all my bills which is impossible. As you can see even with this job I'm in jeopardy of losing my car I have 25 more days until they repossess my car. I pleading for you to help me because I cannot lose my car I still it need to look for more employment and to take of business errands. I already paid 16,280 I have another 9,000 to go. I tried refinancing, trading it in, or giving it to someone else but my efforts fail due to my bad credit and low income. I'm very depressed and upset that I can't take care of this car loan. I been trying so hard to keep this car and don't want to let it go. Please help me you are my only hope in keeping my car. Please respond as soon as possible before its too late. Thank you for your time and patience.
Sincerely,
Shakia

Married Couple long for baby

I feel as though my post is selfish compared to some of the posts I've read. Maybe someone who has been in a similiar boat will read it though and feel compelled to help. My husband and I have been trying for years to have a baby with no luck. We finally went to a fertility doctor for answers. It turns out having children will be difficult and very expensive. Because God is amazing I have not lost hope and believe we will some day have a child together. But for now, my heart aches. We do make a reasonable income and one that will provide just fine for a child. However the money it takes to begin the process is expensive. I have a jar and I have started collecting coins. I am planning a big garage sale and I am looking for a second job. I am doing everything possible to earn the extra money to make our dreams come true. It will take quite some time though to raise the money we need and while I have patience...a little help will go a long way! I appretiate you reading this. I will continue to pray for everyone on this site and hope everyones wishes come true! God Bless!

At the end of my rope, and in dire need of help!

So, I guess this is where I tell my story and list my reasons for needing assistance. This isn't so much begging as a loan request because I do intend to repay every cent to anyone who feels inclined to help.

Basically, I grew up in and out of group/foster homes because both of my parents were heroin addicts. Before I was taken away from them at age four we lived in junky squat motels where my father would boost and my mother would prostitute to support their habit. Eventually they were both arrested for crimes committed to support their habit and that's when I was made a ward of the state.

For a brief period my father got out of prison, cleaned up, and I lived with him from when I was about 8 to 11. He got me out of the foster home I was living in, met a woman at the church he started attending and got a job as a truck driver. While he was gone at work she would beat me continuing the abuse I endured previously in the foster homes I was shuffled through. It didn't take long until he started using again, and we found out that he had contracted AIDS from sharing dirty needles while he was in prison. During the time he was sick I ended up having to take care of him every day after I got home from school because my abusive stepmother was either at work or would have nothing to do with him when she wasn't. Of course, he got progressively worse and my step-mom decided she no longer wanted to support either of us, so she stuck him in a hospice. I came home from school one day and the paramedics were loading him into the back of an ambulance. For the next month she would not tell me where he was or let me contact him. At the end of that month, she left me on the doorstep of my grandmother's house (mom's mom) and was gone.

My father died about 3 weeks after that, but because my biological mother was living at my grandmother's as well we did make daily trips to see him those last weeks. A small mercy being able to spend some time with him before he died. My biological mother had gotten out of prison after my father had and had moved in with my grandmother because she was trying to get clean, but that did not last long and while we would go visit my father she would cop dope and fix up my dying father in front of me, as well as use herself. A couple weeks after my father died she split back out onto the streets leaving me in the care of my grandmother.

Needless to say with so much turmoil in my life I freaked out at this point. My grandmother couldn't handle her newly teenage grandson with so many emotional problems and kicked me out because I was so unruly. I lived on the streets, in and out of group homes until I was about 16 where finally I landed in a well run group home with staff that actually cared about the kids that lived there until I graduated high school. I re-established contact with my grandmother and mother who was once again trying to get clean. That didn't last and when she was out on the streets this time caught a lengthy prison sentence.

When I turned 18 I had to leave the group home so I stayed with friends and lived on the streets for a while again, but eventually ended moving back in with my grandmother. Not long after that she ended up being diagnosed with lung cancer. I spent the next few years nursing her, taking her back and forth to chemo and radiation treatments everyday after working the night shift as a waiter. During that time my mother got out of prison, but could no longer run the streets because now she was diagnosed with emphysema.

My grandmother did have a brief remission, but finally did succumb to her disease. After that, my mother's disease started getting progressively worse and worse. To top it all off after that she herself was also diagnosed with lung cancer. Thankfully during that time I did have some help taking care of her because I found a wonderful woman who became my fiancée. We took turns taking my mother to her chemo and radiation treatments.

Now, there is a lot more detail to this story with many more ins and outs, but that is the general outline. I guess you're probably wondering where the begging comes in and what I need it for?

Ok, here goes:

During that time my fiancée's horse riding lesson business tanked, and because of the nature of my mother's disease someone always had to be home with her because she would fall asleep sitting up and choke her self to death so someone always had to be home with her precluding at least one of us from having a regular job. We got a small stipend from the state for taking care of her in home, and she would do web design and find odd jobs off of craigslist/the internet and that's how we'd survive every month.

Unfortunately it ended up not being enough to survive or get my mother to her treatments every day. She was on medicare and the closest hospital that would accept her insurance was 40 miles each way. So, she ended up shoplifting groceries for us and got caught. I bailed her out and we took care of her case, or at least we thought we had. Cut to 2 days ago, my fiancée and I are awoken by bounty hunters stating that she missed a court date and they had to take her in. Her bail is $20,000 because now she has a failure to appear, and since my mother died about 6 months ago she's been taking care of me and has been the sole bread winner like I was when her business was tanking.

Our rent was due 3 days ago and the manager of the extended stay hotel place we live at told me we needed to be out by yesterday. I have about $10 to my name and if I don't have $600 to him in the next day or two I am sure his patience is going to run out and me, and my two dogs are going to be out on the streets, my fiancée will not have a home to come back to when she gets out of jail, and we will lose all of our stuff. If any of these details are unclear of if you have any questions about my situation please do not hesitate to ask.

If there is anyone out there that is inclined to help us in any way our gratitude would be eternal. As I said, this would be a loan. We would both work to pay you back as quickly as possible and I am not opposed to working for it now if someone has work for me to do. Also, if anyone would be inclined to help bail her out we could pay you back even more quickly. Neither of us has any family to fall back on or ask for help so this is the last thing I could think to do.

Feel free to contact me any time, and I will get back to you as soon as I can! Thank you for reading this, and considering to help. My gratitude is immense and eternal.
