I am the custodial parent of 3 children, a daughter that's 17, and 2 boys, 14 and 9. I have been divorced for 3yrs. now, tending to the everyday needs, for my children and their school activities. My ex-wife had turned diabetic, from giving birth to the children and had fallen into a severe case of post-pardon depression, due to the diabetic condition that had worsened as the children were born, which turned her to alcohol. As most of us know, alcohol and diabetes do not mix, at first I was unaware, of how severe this can be, but as time progressed, we could see the roller-coaster personality shine through. After hearing from others about the way some things were being handled by her, such as pinning them down on the ground, to brush their teeth, or ripping a brush through my daughters hair in the morning before school, I needed to do something about it. This was hard to see at first, since I was at work everyday on a 45-50hr. work week. One particular event, that has been a soar spot with my daughter, was a few days before Christmas, when she was helping decorate the tree and had started to put the tinsel on before the ornaments. Her mom, was into about her 2nd drink, which had brought her sugar-level up, started screaming at her about putting the ornaments on first, and just about ripped her arms off, tearing the tinsel out of her hands!!! Last year, was the first year, after spending many hours with her, that she was brave enough to help decorate the tree.

My oldest son, now 14, has had some very bad experiences, that had put so much stress on him that he started pulling his hair out, until he was completely bald on top of his head !!! The stress was caused by being constantly screamed at for things, that he was even doing. The last thing that really broke the camels back was, when he was trying to restrain his mother during a delirious diabetic overload of sugar, which had skyrocketed, to over 600. She began kicking him, until she kicked him right down the steps and he had to come back up and body slam her down on the floor, we all saw the UGLIER side of diabetes that night !!!!! The E.R. was called in and they strapped her down on a stretcher, deemed her delusional, then rushed her off to the hospital. Their mother decided after that happened, that it would be a good idea to leave the family and doesn't have much contact with her children. I've spent a lot of time with them, working through some of the traumatic episodes, that they encountered and have lost a lot of time for employment. Now that I have been unemployed for quite sometime and being a man in this position, getting assistance or help is almost impossible. I get the feeling that men with children are discriminated, there are no programs in place by the government for men with children. I am now up against all odds, the roof on our house needs to be shingled, every time it rains we see piles of gravel on the ground and my vehicle is on it's last leg. The utilities are always in shut off status and I'm now falling into foreclosure, due to being behind on the house payments for heavens sake, let alone the kids being sick from time to time, because of the old and deteriorating carpet in our house, so I'm being told by the doctors.

Let me tell you why.

I grew up being abused by my dad -- emotionally and sexually. I did not realize what was happening until recently. I still have to deal with the consequences. I became social phobic, anxious and depressed. I am still afraid, disgusted of and uncomfortable with touch and closeness, yet I am dying for it. An African therapist agreed to help me for free, so I am getting better but only very recently am I making progress.

Three, almost four, years ago (2008), my family rejected me over religious issues. I wanted to join this Sabbatarian Christian religious association (this particular sect is a minority in Brazil and honestly everywhere else but they're more present in the US and England) and my family rejected me and reproached me so severely that it radically changed my personality. They wanted to throw me away. I was only 15. I had nowhere to go. I was deeply shocked and shaken on the inside. I never knew I could feel so hurt! I had never expected such sudden rejection from them. My mom said I was a disappointment to her and that I would not stay under the same ceiling as hers if I wanted to keep my faith. My siblings made fun of me and my new beliefs. My father demonized me and said he'd take me to their religious authorities to “straighten me out.” They accused me of bringing a curse into our lives and treated me as a shame to the family ("What will others think?" they wondered). My relatives (uncles, aunts, cousins -- I have a big family) were all against me too. I did not tell my friends because they belonged to the same religion as my parents. I started isolating from everybody. I became very deeply depressed. I would sleep just not to have to be awake and suffering.

It was really overwhelming to me. I had nowhere to go, no one to turn to. The congregation was out of town. So I decided to give up on joining that group. However, I did not stop believing in them but I had to pretend to be in my parents' religion on the outside.

But then my life became a nightmare. I had bad dreams at night. I became paranoid. Every time I was outside, I would walk around the house many times before taking the courage to go in. My heart would pound every time the phone or doorbell rang or someone called my name or asked about my religion. I would feel sick and go pale every time someone initiated a conversation about religion with me. I was traumatized. I am only getting better now. I fainted many times as I got weak because my mom refused to cook clean kosher dishes for me. I can’t even begin to describe all the sacrifices and pains I had to go through not to lose my identity. I can’t, for example, go out on a date or have a serious friendship because I am hiding the most important part of myself. Try to have a relationship where you do things you can’t explain the other party. Do you think it can ever work? My friendships are all shallow because of that.

I am a recent high school graduate. I took a basic course on administrative services and telemarketing last year, paid by the government as part of a program in Brazil called “Jovem Aprendiz” (“Young Apprentice” in English). As part of that course, I am working part-time, supposedly to acquire experience in the field, though I actually work as a warehousing assistant in the company (completely unrelated to administrative services). As I only work part-time (4 hours a day), I only receive HALF the minimum wage, which means I earn about $2 per hour. Yes, I could save that money to achieve my goals. It would take over two years but it would be possible. But I can't at the moment because I have to support my parents and siblings. My brother also works and my dad has recently found a job after three years of unemployment but I still have to give them a significant part of my salary or else we will starve. Also, even if I could, I’d still be desperate because I have been suffering for almost FOUR YEARS!

So I want to move away because I want to be free to convert and live my life, have friends, a girlfriend and a normal life. I got a passport and contacts in the United States. They can help me once I am there but they can’t buy my plane tickets as they cost over $800! There are also additional costs as I need a visa. I am currently looking for a job there. There have been people who want to hire me but they stopped contacting me after learning of the costs they would have to pay.
So please help me. It is the ONLY way for me to be happy again! It doesn’t matter how much you donate. It will make a HUGE difference.

Stated Goal: $2,000.00 (by March 21st, 2012) for tuition, books and some new pants to get my academic career going... Breakdown of $1,288.33 for tuition/fees, approximately $400.00 in textbooks/supplies for the quarter, and the remainder for some pants and necessary travel expenditures for the first month of school.

I know you have many options with where your hard-earned money goes - some may make you feel GREAT about shedding a few pounds in the wallet, and others will leave you feeling downright dirty. I know this, because I was once in your shoes; money in my wallet, left only to my vices as to where to spend it. I never felt right about just handing it over to someone who, in my opinion, would merely go drink it away, drug it away, etc. It's funny how life throws these things all back into your face sometimes, and as such I find myself in need and hoping that the right person(s) will have the faith to invest in me - that's right, I said INVEST.

I don't believe in a handout, but I DO believe that sometimes we fall a bit harder than we are prepared to do and as such are put into situations that we neither expected nor are comfortable with. I opened a business that was going rather well for its first 7 months of operation. Then, through an anonymous post from someone online that "appeared" to be from my company, me and my business partner got black-balled from the industry (VERY political/bureaucratic in that particular industry). When this went under, though, it took me and everything I own with it - my vehicle, my home and much of my personal belongings. Prior to that, I spent 11 years on active duty military status in order to protect and serve this country. Yes, I've earned the G.I. Bill and fully intend to use it for its designed purpose. TheMy defining issue, however, is that the Bill pays for school on a month-to-month basis, at the END of each month of training. For example, my school begins this April 2nd so I cannot claim my benefits until the end of April, which will cause my first G.I. bill payment to get sent out in early May. The school, however, requires payment up-front and as explained above, I currently do not have the capital to get started. Once I've started, the Bill will sustain me, therefore I merely ask for assistance in getting the first quarter of classes paid, including books. I have a great academic history, and this is truly where I excel. My purpose is to some day acquire a PhD in pharmaceutics and do research to find new and improved medications for the benefit of the masses.

As for the pants, I have two pairs remaining and both have holes in the legs and crotch. While these DO technically work for all intents and purposes, it gets a bit breezy on these cold days and nights, and is probably unsightly (at best) to any of my would-be professors who may not appreciate an instructor's-eye-view of these things. As such, I figure I might like to buy a couple of pairs prior to matriculation.

I am a single mother of two talented and gifted children and a student of
the ADN (Associate Degree Nursing) Program at my local community college. On
Febuary 16th, 2011, my childrens father wipped out our entire savings and
checking account and the contents of our home, then disappeared. There was
absolutely no warning of this. My children and I simply returned home from
school to an almost completely empty house.

My immediate thought was that we were victoms of a burglary. However,
shortly after the police arrived, neighbors reported something even more
disturbing. My childrens father , along with three other men in a huge
company moving truck, spent most of the early morning and mid-afternoon
moving things out of our home. Neighbors said they thought we were just
moving. They suspected no problems. Even though he had taken every household
appliance, all electronics and my childrens cellos, keyboards and computers,
there was nothing the police could do. He was indeed a resident and on the
lease.

I tried contacting him on his cell only to find it disconnected. When I
called his office, I was informed that he had been seperated from the firm
for over a month.

This was awfull and my children and I were in need of answers. To cheer us all up, I decided that we should go out to dinner and
fun. That's when I found out about the accounts.

Although there was no furniture, well, only the childrens bedroom furnitue,
we remained in our home for as long as we could. I started working part time
at a call center at night while continuing my classes in the day.

We soon had to move of course. We were evicted for non payment of rent. I
found a one bedroom appartment that I could afford. This meant moving the
children into another school district.

At the time my daughter was in seventh grade, taking highschool algebra 1,
and highschool english1. Her other classes were all AP 8th grade courses.
She was also in orchestra with her cello. The new district does not allow
7th graders to take highschool class, so she was not able to continue on her
path. Not only did we have to face the challenge of academics, we also had a
severe problem with bullies. Because I had to be at school myself, the
children had to ride the school bus daily. In a horrible neighborhood, they
were beaten often and picked on daily because of how they talked and
dresssed. Telling the school principles and the police only made matters
worse for us and our apartment. The parents live in our aparments and they
are not happy with me calling the authorities on them. I have had widows
borken out in my car, tires cut and the front door of my appartment painted
with ugly words.

I sat out of school this semester in order to escort my children safely to
and from school each day.For now, I work at a call center
m-th 8am-3pm and sat 7am-4pm.

I am trying to move my children to a neighborhood they can be safe in and a
school that is able to meet them at their academic level and they can also
be safe in. If this could happen then I could return to my nursing studies
and the children could return to a safe environment and school.

I pay 400 per month for our one bedroom we are in now. I found some
apartments in a a safer neighborhood with schools that offer orchestra and
college prep courses. ( I have not been able to pay for any private lessons
scince their father left. And their new schools do not offer orchestra. )
The one bedrooms in this particular area are 750/monthly .

I am begging for help to raise enough money to move my children into a
better neighborhood before January so that I may continue in my studies and
they can safely do the same.
I have a 7 year old boy and 13 year old daughter.
I have completed all of my support courses for my nursing. I completed my
first year last year and this summer. So, there is only one more year
nursing school that I have before I graduate. I am pleading with anyone and
everyone to please help me. Any amount will help me reach my goal.

Up until 2010, my children had been living with my husband (their step-father, who is active duty military) and me.

As part of my divorce decree, my ex-husband had given me permission to move out-of-state with the children. I managed inter-state visitations flawlessly because I knew how important it was for my kids to spend as much time with their father as possible. However, when the Army re-assigned us to a NEW duty station, my ex-husband "changed his mind" and took me to court for custody of our children, ages 10 and 12.

I was terrified at the idea of losing my children, but my attorney assured me that there was absolutely no cause; I am a good mother and my husband and I are both fully engaged, involved, loving parents.

Boy, was my attorney wrong. The family court decided to award my ex-husband custody despite the fact that I am a wonderful parent (and stay-at-home mom) to my kids - based on the fact that we are a military family. There was never a custody or home evaluation done; the ruling was simply based on this particular Family Court's bias against the military.

In the end, my ex-husband destroyed me in every way possible; emotionally and financially. Life has been extremely difficult without my children .. and I have about $8000.00 in debt from attorney/court fees. I have been babysitting and working as a freelance web designer for extra money, but it is slow-going and this debt seems impossible to pay off, so I am here asking for help. The rent is Overdue, I don't have a dime in my purse, 2 kids clinging to me for every ounce of want and need. No child support checks, no family to help, or who would care to help. Old credit card , medical bills, and other misc. charges that I've incurred over the past 10 years remain unpaid. Sought government assistance and they only give you enough to do one or the other, so it's either pay my bills or pay the rent. I no longer have a cell phone, besides the free govt phone they give you with 70 minutes a month on it. I have a car, but it needs work, hundreds of dollars of work. 35 years and I'm still striving for a destination spot. a place of rest, stability, and contentedness. Wondering when and how my load will lighten. Thinking about running away, then I look at my babies and know that they would find a way to keep me here with them, their smiles, playing, hugs, and the like. I often wonder how I ended up in this place of not knowing, confusion, heartache, toil, lack, despair, and think why me, then again, why not me? Is God trying to show/tell me something? What, I'm all ears, and eyes, you've got my attention, and have had it held there for about 5 years. Everything changed when my mom left us, everything changed when she passed. You must understand my mother was a paragon, well I guess every decent kid would say that about their mom, but mine really was. If I were to tell you about her, you would feel what I felt and others felt about her even in a moment, a fragment of a second, you would get a sense of her spirit, humor, nuture, kindness, humility, charity, etc. I could go on and on about her. but you don't want to hear about that you want to know why I am writing this, and like so many other countless stories, what makes my struggle any more worthy than the next man or womans. I am in no position to tell you that my trial is far worse, or more deserving than anothers, I am not asking for a certain amount, or for one particular thing. Anything you send would be beneficial to any and all areas of my life and that of my children. I can only say that for someone who has dreams and aspirations of someday coming out of this fog, permanately, your donations would put me in a position of independence.

hi i would like to start off by saying thank you for giving me and my family a chance. my name is Sasha martin i currently live in north Hollywood ca with my six small children win a homeless shelter i am 22 years old and am seeking help in obtaining a car . i have had a hard life and am now trying to get it on the right path i love my children more than anything in this world well. at my young age i have had babies not because it was the thing to do but to fill hole in my heart growing up i had n family it was only me and my sister who is 2 years younger than me and we got split up when i was 15 about time i was 18 i had been in 30 different foster homes and am now trying to live differently please consider us for a car so that we can live a little easier i have none of the fathers around and getting to Dr APPOINTMENTS an let alone the grocery store is hard enough September school is starting and i don't know how i am going to do it but with it being just us it has to be done and i promise how hard it gets i wont give up but sometimes i wonder if any of these stories are real or is it all TV i have hope like when i watch TV or read the success stories i wish i were those people where one day someone just shows up on my door step willing to help but life goes on doesn't it but who am i to doubt i Am just a woman with a whole lot to keep thriving for even if my whole lot is my kids i really think i live for them today not me yet im 22 i have never been to a club or out with friends now don't get me wrong i don't even like the idea of clubs i actually enjoy taking my babies to museums parks outings all in all but on the bus is soooo difficult and people stare let alone comment but in the end at the end of it all its just me a 22 year old single parent and my 6 beautiful angels today is 7-15-11 and i was up thinking a lot last night on how it will be when i get my house i am totally satisfied with getting a house and my babies being happy but no matter how things look i still seem to worry about my kids happiness i was thinking about if i get a house can i actually afford a playground set for my kids to play on now i know in my mind that should be the least of my worries but i guess because i wasn't really happy as a kid i want the best life for my kids i really want them to be children and not have to worry about grown up stuff like i did at the age of six and seven am i safe or where will i be tomorrow and with it being so many of them and just me i want them to be able to go outside and play because at a park let alone walking the crazy streets with little ones you cant be to safe i dont know but if i had reasonable means of transportation one of my worries would be out the way i mean all parents fear something happening to their kids but it would be easier knowing that in a car i would not have to try to keep them from running in the street to much just like last week my 8 month old was in the stroller the 6,5,4,4,2 babies were walking and we were going to the bus stop and imagine this they are holding hand and it was a hot day the girls had on sandals we were crossing the street and my 6 year olds shoe came off in the middle of the street and the light was turning red i was trying to get her shoe stop traffic and make sure no one got hit i was so scared i am only one person and i know everyone has problems but oh my god i know that that particular situation could have gone real bad thank god for angels because we were protected that day i know our day is coming all i have to do is LET GO AND LET GOD

I shop only at locally owned and operated small businesses, I grow my own food and when i can't, I buy organic, healty, non GMO foods, and foods without hormones. I don't support corporate conglomerates. The more we support the things we want in this world, the more the world will change. I ask you to join me in helping the world. I promise any money donated will be spent in the fashion explained here, and together we can make this world a good one for future generations. Though I don't have enough money to pay all of my bills EVERY month, I do my best, and my consciense is clean. I'm in about $10,000 worth of debt, mainly for school and medical, but slowly it's getting taken care of. Any donations are greatly appreciated.

My Name is Alyssa and I will be starting my first semester of Graduate School in August. My field of study is Speech and Language Pathology. I absolutely love my field but this particular field requires you to have at least a Masters degree to practice. After my grandfather had a stroke he had to go to a Speech Pathologist to help him re learn how to speak properly and to re train him on how to talk. The first time I took him to his appointment is the moment I knew that I wanted to become a Speech Pathologist and help others just like my Grandfather. I have completed my Bachelors degree and now am about to start my Graduate studies. I have 2 years of non stop, year round school to finish to complete my Masters. This is where my asking for help comes in. I had to work to put myself through my four years of college and have received no help from anyone. I have never been able to save much because of all my expenses with school. Now that I have been accepted to Graduate school I have been calculating the cost I will have over the next 2 years. The results have greatly discouraged me and to be honest have made me wonder if I will ever be able to do it. With all of my expenses including tuition, books, rent, bills, food, and other living expenses I have come to the conservative assessment that i will need around $50,000. Compared to the average price of grad school these days almost being $29,000 per semester, I figure if I live very conservative that I can just about get through it all with only spending $50,000. The college tells us not only in person but it says on their web site as well that you can not work and be in this program at the same time. Only 15 people were accepted into the Speech and Language Pathology program at my school and it is made clear to us that it is very intense and time demanding and that working outside of going through the program is not recommended and in fact discouraged. They tell us if we plan on working that it is recommended we wait to go through their Masters program. So here I am, I have tried applying for Grants and loans and I cannot seem to catch a break. I apologize for you having to read this long request for help but I want you to know that if you do decide to help me that you will be helping me reach my goals and dreams and in turn you will help an unlimited number of other people through my career who have speech disabilities for any number of reasons who need help to overcome it. Because of my Grandfather I am hoping to specialize in those who suffer from brain injuries or neurological damage and be able to give them the new life my Grandfather was given through his rehabilitation. He past away a few weeks ago and he will be forever missed. In honor of my Grandfather I have taken on his email address as my own. I have used it to set up the PayPal account as a sort of dedication to him in honor of him being the reason I have chosen this field of study and made it my goal in life. Any amount of money your heart tells you to donate, even if it is just one cent will help and will be greatly appreciated and put to good use and towards a life of helping others. I don't normally get involved in something like this but the person that
is in need is a very good friend of mine from England. So I am asking
for your help to raise some money to go towards a heart operation.
This person is currently in the hospital so time is of the essence.

Over there, their healthcare system is pretty much good for those that
live in the right postcode of the Country. Unfortunately, my friend does
not. Therefore, this operation that he needs to have done, has to be
paid for up front.

While the amount there in England is 75,000 pounds, here in the USA,
that equals $123,000.

As you can see it's no small deal, but I think the important thing is
that people feel good when they something to someone whose life depends
on their generosity. The PayPal address below is a special address set up
for donations for him.

No one should be told they have to die because they live in the wrong
postcode, especially at the age of 47. He's really a great guy and would
give you the shirt off his back. But he is a very private person. His
Brother in England has been keeping me informed and he is the original
person that has started this attempt to raise enough to get the
operation. So while he is asking friends in his country, I am asking
friends in the USA and from other countries that I know.

I know things are tough all over and we have our obligations to meet,
but if any of you can spare anything to help out, it would be deeply
appreciated. This isn't a come-on. This is a true situation and a sad
one. Wouldn't matter if it was $1.00, it would still help raise the
funds needed.

P.S. The following is information that I received from the Brother and
from the patient himself. I felt it necessary to include in this.

*From the Brother
Yes, the medical situation is strange, it was, and should still be an
amazing health care system. Everyone pays into it through their taxes,
and then you get free health care, operation, medicines etc.

Trouble is, they are now realizing that the NHS as we call it, national
health service, is a bottomless pit, the more money the government throw
in, the more they can. It will always use whatever funds it has, and
they don't like it.

So now they are limiting some of the more expensive treatment and
medicines. Hence the postcode lottery. If you live in the wrong
postcode, you don't get the surgery.

The heart problem, is a basically a defect that he had from birth, a lot
of people don't know they have a problem, until one day they drop down
dead, and by then obviously its too late. In fact, usually people
don't even get to his age of 47. (I know he's not really old or
anything, that is just what the experts say!).

The problem is, in his case is that instead of just being a birth
defect, there is also a family history of heart problems and added to
this, the fact that the defect has been very slowly getting worse.
Already having one heart surgery done about 4 years ago, it didn't last.

To do the full op privately would cost over £75000, including the
follow-up care. Where as I'd be happy with just the injections, and
possibly a new, better, icd being fitted. That would be a lot cheaper,
and while wouldn't be a proper fix, it would remove the risk of sudden
death. I guess all will be revealed eventually as to what they are
planning

*From the Brother. Keep in mind that this is just part of what needs to
be done. The cheaper version.

As for what has to be done, and the exact name of the condition, I am
not sure of the medical terms. The injections you were talking about,
are not stem cells nor are they clinical trials. They are to help
restructure part of the heart, some parts are over grown, and need to be
reduced in size, this can be done through through a series of controlled
injections, that will kill off specific parts of the tissue, thus
reducing its size, enabling the chambers to hold more blood, and for the
heart to be less restricted in its movement.

Another part of the procedure, is a kind of re-wiring of the heart. The
electric pulse, runs around the heart in a particular way, causing it to
beat. But in his case, the pulses are not traveling on the routes they
should be, and this needs to be corrected.
By performing these two sets of procedures, he would not be totally
cured, BUT, he would be stable, not have constant chest pains, and the
risk of sudden death syndrome, would be drastically reduced!

I'm going to dive right into it. I've been having a hard time these past couple of months. I finished my schooling about a year ago so now all the loans I took out (about $15,000 total) have started to kick in asking for payments. I also reluctantly used my credit card during my school days to pay for day-to-day items like food and supplies. This added an additional $5,000 debt to my person.

I held a minimum wage job which enabled me to pay at least the minimum for everything all the while adding interest to the overall amount. However, my situation drastically changed within the 2 weeks around christmas. I got into a car crash that left my car completely inoperable. I lost my job the very same week. To top it off, the following week my grandma died. What adds to the problem is that my grandma died in Germany so I wasn't able to attend her funeral. That in particular hasn't been easy on me. I've been applying to at least 3 jobs a day. However, I havent been lucky yet.

My goal now is to tackle each one of my debts one at a time and decided the most aggressive debt is my credit card. I have been able to lower it a little bit with my tax return. That being said my goal is to raise $4,216 to get rid of my credit card debt once and for all.

I am a strong believer in Karma - that being said the one promise I can make is that should I one day find myself on the lucky side financially (steady job/income) I would feel the urge to remember the people helping me out here today and give back by donating to those in need - whether it be here on BegsList, a homeless person or a young person like me who fell on some hard times.

I have just returned from a trip to Venezuela and realised that there was a potential business opportunity within this country. Travel is as yet underdeveloped compared to the rest of South America and, the country though challenging in many ways would provide the perfect opportunity to start a concen related to tourism. I do not want to say too much at this point as the idea is novel for this particular country. It does not however involve setting up a hotel, posada, travel agency, time share or the like.
I have a little money to invest in such a venture, but am looking for someone to help me realise this dream.
