I'm just really hungry and exhausted.
Posted by cp030190 on 2012-05-23 14:58:06
The thing is.. I am hungry. I am not Ethiopian starving, but I'm hungry. My last meal consisted of a pack of chicken flavored ramen noodle soup and 3 saltine crackers. The 7 meals before that consisted of the same exact thing, except I was so lucky as to add a few broccoli florets to the soup broth. I have since ran out of broccoli and ramen. All I have left in my food pantry is canned baby food, and oatmeal. I am down to drinking tap water and falling asleep at night to the borborygmus sounds that my intestines sing to me out of pure hunger. I am so very blessed to be able to pay my bills and provide for my daughter while furthering my education so that some fine day we will both be living like Princesses. I have counted each and every one of my blessings. However, food isn't among these blessings of mine. All I'm asking is for someone to treat a girl to a hot nutritious meal.

We need help with taxes
Posted by nt1962 on 2012-02-17 15:58:59
The house was deeded to the church over 30 years ago by a former pastor of the church who had become ill and subsequently passed away. The house is not located in the same community as the church. (In fact, it is some distance away from the church, and therefore could not be utilized for church-related purposes which would have taken it off of the tax roll). As a result of gentrification in that community, the property values have increased tremendously. The property tax assessment for the property owned by the church escalated to staggering heights during the housing bubble.
Because of this the church has had much difficulty keeping up with all of the taxes on the property (a general tax, a school tax, and a village tax). The rental income from the property is used to assist the church with operating expenses, maintenance of all of the church properties, as well as paying the taxes. Finally, reassessment in the last couple of years has brought down the amount of taxes to be paid and we are better able to handle some of the current taxes due, but some of the older taxes were sold and consolidated in tax lien sales. The consolidation of the prior taxes due has hurt us tremendously. Numerous times the unpaid taxes were consolidated prior to our completion of raising enough funds to pay off some of them in their unconsolidated state. Individually some were $1,000 to $3,000 respectively. They have been consolidated totaling almost $19,000. We are not permitted to pay the liens individually which was viable, we have to pay them in total.
There is a holding company based in the community where the house is located which purchased those liens. That company is now a few months away from being able to begin foreclosure proceedings and take a valuable piece of real estate out from under the church. This would be devastating to the church.
The church has been in the process of trying to sell the house and use the proceeds from the sale to build a much needed new church building in the community it is located as well as to pay off those outstanding liens at closing, and to unload a property that was once a blessing to the church, but has long since become a burden. We donât want to lose the property. We want to be able to sell it. We had some offers on the house, but at the last minute a promising deal fell through. Previously interested buyers, for some reason now, are less interested. We feel it is possible that there may some collusion within the community where the house is located to wait for the lien process to move forward and that potential purchasers connected with the holding company will be able to take the property and flip it to tremendous financial advantage, while leaving the church with nothing for thirty years of struggling to take care of the property.
It is important that we are allowed to sell the house and build our new church. We are in the final stages of making the new building a reality. All we have to do is secure the construction financing. Receipt of a commitment letter for the sale of the house is all that stands in the way of a 40+ year dream for the congregation. It would give us the down-payment that we need to move forward.
With the construction of a new church, we would be able to operate before and after school programs, have handicap accessible restrooms, and provide better services to the community. We have a senior citizens housing complex across the street from our church, and many of the residents would attend our church but they are unable to climb up and down the stairs to the single-person restrooms in the basement. We also operate a summer day camp which would benefit greatly from having more space in which to operate. We would be able to accommodate many more youngsters, many of whose families are unable to afford the other summer camps operating in the area. We have had to turn down prospective campers because of space constraints.
Our congregational makeup has changed over the years. The financial impact of that changed has been coupled with the severe impact of the economic downturn on our community. We have more retirees now on fixed income, youth, and small children, many of whom have young mothers, and some people who are working age, mostly with working class wages. We need to build a church to better meet the needs of our congregation and community. We operate a food pantry and soup kitchen which would be able to open more days a week with bigger pantry space and a modern commercial kitchen.
As I stated, we are in the final stages of the building project. We have our permits, plans, and contractor selected. We are ready to obtain financing. The congregation, which has always striven to do much with little, has invested much in this projected over the years and the sale of this property owned by the church is the one thing that stands in the way of it happening. Please do not let us lose this property just so a few people can make a quick buck. Help us to pay off these tax liens so that our church will be able to help transform an entire community!
WE WANT TO BUILD A LOW COST ANIMAL CLINIC
Posted by babykatt on 2012-02-15 01:58:42
East TN Spay & Neuter. They are a non-profit corporation, with the sole purpose to end the use of euthanasia as population control for companion animals. They're a small, all-volunteer group that provides transport to a regional low-cost spay-neuter clinic and education about proper pet care. They also assist low-income families in finding financial aid for surgery and related costs.
They have a few projects going on that need support.
ETSN is trying to build a low cost vet clinic in our area. They are needing donations such as.....
*copy paper, paperclips, other office supplies.
*gas cards work great to help with transports
*medical equipment and supplies for the clinic
*more volunteers to help get the word out
*pet food and supplies for the clinic and pantry
*cash is always good too.
I DO NOT WANT YOU TO DONATE TO ME!!!!!
Please visit the website below and you will have all the information you will need
www.etnspay-neuter.org
There are also other ways to help like cashing in your old cell phones or inkjet cartridges.
Please think about helping our cause and thank you for taking the time to read my post.
God Bless you

982.07 to go back to school
Posted by mama_meya on 2011-12-20 09:58:21
Over 10 yrs ago I began on the right track attending TCU for a semester but with no funds saved up for college it was soon apparent that I would not be able to finish. Much to my despair, I left Ft. Worth and began living out of my hurt by getting into drugs, lascivious living and just keeping bad company. It wasn't until I met my husband, a PK (or preacher's kid), that I realized what I was missing and that I did have hope and didn't have to carry around the shame and anger at not being able to finish school. I stayed home and worked while he got to go out and travel the world in a Christian band, living his dream while I helped to support us and when he got off the road we decided to begin a family. Well no one told us how hard that would be especially financially and I soon left work to take care of my children because the cost of daycare was too much for us (almost 1200 for the two of them!). My husband lost his job earlier this year due to a bad truck accident that left him needing two surgeries and us on public assistance. But we moved to Seguin and he was able to start work at TPS thank God. It doesnt pay all our bills but we are so thankful! We also moved back here to begin work on a ministry with a focus on our youth. We are big volunteers at our church, always making ourselves available to what needs to be done for not only our families but our community. Most recently we've assisted with our youth at the Daddy/Daughter Dance sponsered by the SPD and the Blue Santa wrapping days. It has been hard on just one income and in the past 2 years we have moved 5 times with our children finally settling in Seguin. I am from Austin and had never lived in a real community of people before. I love it here! Everyone speaks to everyone and it is not so rushed. I'm in awe of how a community is supposed to be! Parades, Holiday Strolls, wow!
This past two weeks we have done things we have never had to do before like seek help from Community Council and Salvation Army for utility assistance and visit the EATS food pantry. I'm thankful they were there but I just never thought in a million years I'd be needing those types of services. This is also what pushed me to go back to school. I need to do something bigger than me to feel that I've accomplished a legacy for my children. I won't let them suffer worry and fear the way we have recently. But I need help.
I'm pleading with you to please help me pay $982.07 to Texas Christian University before January 1st for a Loan that I owe. If I pay this loan off by then I will be free to attend a university with Federal funds to attend classes and began pursuing my Associates Degree in Early Childhood and ultimately a Bachelors in Education. I plan on getting a teaching certification and giving back to the community that helped me by working in a low-income school here and sharing my story through hard work that people helping people can make a difference in someone's life. Again, I'm not asking you for money for me or my family or Christmas presents or any "thing". I am looking to pay directly to TCU in Ft. Worth. None of the funds would go to me. I trust that what we need as a family my God will supply, because He has kept us this long and it's only going to get better. Please be a part of this transition out of a dry place into abundance. I'm humbling myself today by doing this and I trust that if you can or know someone who can, you will help me. Thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to sharing a good report!
Family in need.

last resorts. I am a stay at home father of 4 children. A two year old, 3
year old, 5 year old and 12 year old. My wife works and I have to stay home
because someone needs to watch the kids. (if I worked I would make less then
the amount I would pay out in daycare) I would ask our family but they are
taped out and have already been giving us money for years now.
We make to much money for food stamps so if it was not for the Food Pantry
we would be starving right now. We barley make our bills (rent, phone,
electric, heat, etc.)
I have No idea what we are going to do for Christmas. We dont even have a
tree. And presents for the kids are out of the question.
Winter is starting and our vehicle has a problem with the 4 wheel drive. It
was working all summer but now that we need it for snow and ice the 4 wheel
drive is out.
Its hard to make due with only one vehicle when the kids have to go to
doctors appointments and such. My wife works 1 hour commute away and I have
to drive her with the kids back and forth if there is an appointment. This
spends the whole day and lots of gas just for one appointment.
We have a second vehicle with good 4 wheel drive but the front end needs
work at least $1000.00 in work. Because of this I am house bound with all
the kids most days. Life is starting to drive me crazy without wheels to at
least take the kids some place and have some adult conversation.
I find myself going stir crazy being house bound. Even to go to the food
pantry my wife had to take time off work so we had wheels and then make up
the time later in the week.
We used to live in 600 square feet. Small but cheap to heat. Luckily we are
in a village with a large house now. My mother just put the down payment on
the house and we pay the mortgage. She is now taped out.
The added expense of more room to heat is adding up. Luckily the government
and family has helped with some of the added expense for fuel oil ($3.95 per
gal) and wood ($60 per face cord). But I don't know what we are going to
do to make it through winter with all this snow falling right now.
I feel better just talking about it. Just knowing someone is listing makes
me feel at ease. Thank you for your time and your donations.

So we are looking at two older vehicles that need work. One out of commission the other getting us by, but for how long.

Emergency Financial Help!
Posted by ronalano on 2011-09-30 10:58:38
My name is Ronald Alano. My wife Kathi and I are in A very bad way.
Please let me explain. My wife's unemployment ran out just as she needed a dead kidney removed. I was terminated from my 10 year professional job due to down sizing at the same time. I was her nurse up the time of her operation. She had to have her bag cleaned and changed daily. Her operation was put on hold till we could scrape up enough money to pay a month of Cobra to cover her surgery. This took 2 months. She has recovered wonderfully.
We have both been unable to obtain employment. We were evicted from our rental because we were unable to make rent for 8 months. We owe taxes, hospital bills, vehicle payments, utility payments. We have one vehicle that is on a title loan without even minimum insurance coverage. We are receiving food stamps. We have spent many hours in the pantry lines. We are currently staying with Kathi's son till we can get employment.
My wages are being garnished due to unpaid medical bills. I cannot even work a McDonald's because I would only make enough to cover gas. I am a hard working and dedicated person. I have spent many days and hours applying and sending resumes to a multitude of job prospects. I have only had 2 interviews that have not panned out. We are trying to get Kathi's drivers license, but can't even afford the 20.00 to pay for that.
It really hurts to have to tell our life's story to try and get any help. We have gone through all the channels for help. We have given to United Way all the time we were employed. They would only help with 250.00 towards rent, but we owe over 7,000.00 in rent. They only offered 150.00 towards utilities and we owe a couple of thousand on them. To chapter 8 housing is a waiting period of over a year and a half. We have no relatives who can help.
We just can't find a way to start digging out. We have recently found salvation in our Lord Jesus Christ. We attend a small Christian church where we attend Sunday services, Wednesday night services, and Tuesday night Bible study. We are just asking someone who is more fortunate than us for any help.
If you read this, God Bless You in His Son's Name Jesus Christ!

ive started seeking counciling and have even joined a support group. i was quiet until last year about what i am about to tell you here-and i am not game playing-saying this for sympathy-any of this...i said this out loud for the first time at 38 last year-my father molested me from the ages of 6 through 14, until i was big enough to fight him off, or threaten to hurt him if he touched me one MORE TIME.
he violently raped me, my face in the pillow, told me " this doent make you gay or anyting". i realize NOW, it was about control, this sick man, i have filed police reports in both the county where i used to have an apartment, and the county in which it occurred. nothing, and i mean nothing, has been done by the police, i keep calling and asking-to no avail-nothing gets to resolve.
as i work on the inner me, my life has slowly financially unraveled. my father has had sleep apnea forever, my mother died in 2007, in october, suddenly, and slept eveynight of my whole life with earplugs. i firmly tell myself she didnt know. i have to. PLEASE, HELP ME TO GET TOGETHER enough for a deposit, moving truck, first months rent. NO MORE THAN 2,500 IS WHAT I NEED. that would turn my living situation aroud, i am seeking to move where jobs are easier to obtain in the field in which i am trained-mechanic. here where i am, i cant get hired for this! why? others are willing to work for LESS than min wage, HOW AM I TO COMPETE WITH THAT?cant. no one can.
i have set up pay pal for my first time, i hope i did it right. thanks for listening,m just to get it out here, too, was cathartic. appreciate any and all replies or suggestions if you cant donate. ve become a good listener.

I am a single college student, living alone and paying all of my own bills. I have been supporting myself (and sometimes others) since I was 18. Although I don't have money to give, I always allow any friends or family members to stay with me when times get tough and do not ask for anything in return. I have found ways to save, spend, and earn using coupons, working extra hours, and stretching every last penny I have for bills, food, or gas. I have simply reached the breaking point. I have found myself months behind on my utilities, an empty pantry, and barely enough money to get back and forth to work and school. My tuition bill is increasing and I can only defer the payment for so long before I am unenrolled from the school and gain an even bigger debt. I don't have parents to rely on when I am in a bind, and I am falling further and further behind.
In addition to running out of money, food, and hope... I have not been able to purchase any new pants, belt, or shoes for work and without these items I will not be able to continue. My current items are falling apart. I typically buy these things for $5-$6 a piece at my local goodwill, but even that has become a hardship. As far as buying clothes for myself for everyday wear, that has been out of the question for close to 2 years. I can't enjoy my life because I am so stressed and I am working to not even completely pay my bills.
I do not want anyone to feel scammed or mislead and I am supplying my email address(iamafishie@hotmail.com), which is also my paypal address, for anyone that has any questions or concerns.
If I can help ANYONE, even if it is just talking with you and being a support system, please contact me. If you are also in need and looking to earn or save, please contact me as well and I will give you the resources I have used for years, they may help you or sustain you for a few more weeks or months.
I have been financially responsible my whole life, and I believe in karma. I donated my last $1 in my paypal account to this website, because I am truly grateful that something like this exist. I hope karma is pleased. I am willing to do anything to help others. I have always done everything possible to help others, and now I truly need help.
I am not asking for a specific amount and I don't expect anyone to pay my bills, but if you'd like to contribute, please do so via paypal(iamafishie@hotmail.com).
Thank you for your time.

Truth of the matter is, I need help.

FAMILY LOSING THEIR HOME JULY 2011. PLEASE HELP US IF YOU CAN.

We need almost $20,000 by June 15th, 2011 to get back on track with our mortgage. We really don't know how much more we can stand. Our lives have seriously taken a turn for the worse in the past two years. We have never needed to ask anyone for assistance and have always provided for ourselves. We are good people who just can't catch a break.
Please find it in your heart to help my family and I. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Please even if you can only donate a dollar, anything is better then nothing at all. I will be happy to provide you with all the proof you need if you don't believe our horrible situation. Thank you and God Bless!!!

Chicago Coalition for the Homeless (chicagohomeless.org)
"As unemployment rates rise, so does the number of people who become homeless. For the past 30 years, CCH has been advocating and working to fight homelessness by calling for affordable housing and livable wages."
Off the Street Club (otsc.org)
"With all the violence and gang activity in Chicago, organizations that provide a safe haven and give guidance to inner-city youth are more important than ever. OTSC is hard at work providing a plethora of programs for kids in West Garfield Park to keep them safe from the violence."
Greater Chicago Food Depository (chicagosfoodbank.org)
"Each week, an estimated 142,400 men, women and children receive emergency food assistance from a food pantry, soup kitchen or other agency served by the Greater Chicago Food Depository."
Chicago Cares (chicagocares.org)
"If you can't give financially, consider donating your time. Chicago Cares is an awesome organization that matches up volunteers with nonprofits in need of a hand."
