Need help to defray adoption costs and get an education

Posted by Paupermom on 2012-05-22 08:58:34

I used up my savings to adopt a child from a bad situation. I am sick with worry not knowing how I will pay my bills. I'm in my mid 50's and am haven't been able to get a job. I do not have a college education. If I could get enough money to get ahead on my bills, I would like to go to nursing school so I can more easily pay my bills and help others in need.

Please help this desperate mom.

Family in need

Posted by dkane421 on 2012-05-21 21:58:14

I have a family of five in need of financial assistance to make ends meet this month. Our rent is due plus late fees which equals $1500. I recently decided to make a better future for my self and my family and decided to go to nursing school which by the way at the time sounded like a wonderful idea. I now have only 12 months left and we are sinking fast. My husband works his butt off to provide for myself and our three kids but recently work had dropped so we are now about to be evicted. I now have to choose between finishing school or quitting to get a job and help out. I am not a begger by choice and would gladly pay someone back over a monthly payment. PLEASE HELP IF YOU ARE ABLE!!!!!!!!!

help with family of special needs kid

Posted by specialneedsmom on 2012-05-16 16:58:00

Hi I am a mom of 3 children, 1 a special needs child. I work as a nurse assistant but it only covers about half of our needs. I work hard and do my best every day and try to keep a smile and a good attitude but sometimes your best just isn't good enough. My special needs baby is 8 years old and is speech impaired, deaf in one ear, severely asthmatic, and has ADHD. Medicaid pays for most of the meds and specialists but not all. I pay for some of his meds and specialists and then there's the gas to go to and from. All in all I'm spending about $800 per month that medicaid is refusing. I haven't been able to get an answer why as of yet. I've applied for social security for him but have been denied twice and now am awaiting a hearing which I am told could be anywhere between 18 and 21 months just to get a hearing date. I only make about $1500 per month so simple things like even a trip to the laundromat is a challenge. Apart from my son's problems I also have 2 baby girls aged 9 and 6 to take care of. Thanks be to God they are healthy. All of my family has passed away due to various forms of cancer so it's just my children and my husband and self. He is out of a job presently and has been seeking work since being laid off from his last job (about 7 months). I have applied for a pell grant and registered for LPN classes at the local community college to try to help myself but it will take about 15 months to finish school let alone get a job. I've managed to pay rent but am 2 months behind on the internet bill (used for school) am 5 months behind in car payments and am at risk of a repo any day. If I lose my car then how am I going to be able to go to work, school, take the kids to school, take the kids to the doctor, grocery shop, do laundry, or anything else? I currently do not have auto insurance because I can't afford it.(was cancelled for nonpayment 2 days ago.) I managed to pay my water and cell(about $100) to keep that going. I am almost a month behind on my electricity but have managed to keep it going by paying about half the bill per month. As of now, I have a balance of $150. I don't know what to do. If anyone would please help us I would be forever grateful and appreciative.

Need donation to save my home and future

Posted by Integra on 2012-05-16 01:58:21

Hello, I've never done this before but, I'm desperate.
I'm 19 years old and my family is going through a divorce, my mother never furthered her education and has been a house wife for the entire 20 years they have been married and simply supported my dad and all his pursuits.

When I turned 18 my dad left for a gas station woman he'd known for maybe a total of a few months. Let me state he tried to have an affair with her, it wasn't till my mother confronted him that he said he wanted a divorce; My dad is a repeated cheat, I was never aware of this till the day he left, then all the lies came out of the closet.

We run a small chimney sweep business, the office is located at my mother's as she sets the appointments. She does not receive a pay check because during their marriage it was easier on taxes, they have decided to keep it this way and instead dad just covers the bills.

Now the business is great in the winter but we are in spring now and as you may already know no one uses their fireplace in the middle of warm weather! No they go outside and have bonfires. Now my dad is going blind due to diabetes and simply cannot work, we have hired a friend to do the jobs now while my dad just tells them what needs to be done and oversee's the work to the best of his ability. However, his reputation of leaving his wife and daughter for a woman he barely knows has
gotten around and I've heard the clients say they don't want business from a man like that.
My dad also wants to spend money we do not have, he is trying to sell an old sports car so we can put another work truck on the road, we don't have enough work to keep the one truck going we most certainly can't afford the regular expenses of another! My parent's can't even afford to legally divorce, and he want's a new truck. The one he has is fine, I don't understand why he won't use that money for bills.

Now any money I earn myself I have to give to my parents to help alleviate the burden of the bills, but what I contribute is not enough and now we have received the nasty call from the mortgage that they are foreclosing. While I hand all my savings to my parents can't save for my education, and being homeless will make it almost impossible. I've no famly or friends to turn to and we do not have a shelter here. I'm under the age of 24 so I cannot get any financial aid for school without a legal guardian to sign for me, and my parents refuse to think realistic; When I ask them what are we going to do? they say "Winning the lottery is the only thing that can save us." They have lost hope, I understand things are bad... but is it so bad that they can't help me get financial aid?

We currently need $136,000 to pay the house completely off, I'd love to have that, if you find it in your heart to give us our home I'd never be able to forget it. I'd be forever grateful and I'd love to return the favor someday so please feel free to give me an e-mail to contact.

To get us caught up on bills and me in school for nursing will take $7,000. we are so far behind and work is pretty much non-existent... My dad refuses to apply for disability as well.

I'm begging you please help me, I'm drowning in the debt of my parents. I've wanted to be a nurse my whole life and now I feel robbed of that chance... So please help!

College Tuition

Posted by Elise21 on 2012-05-15 15:58:46

I come from a low class family with no way to pay for college. I have applied for fafsa and scholarships but as you know scholarships are not guaranteed and federal grants are continually getting smaller.

I love America and the smell of freedom and I want to help others in need, that's why I aspire to be a certified registered nurse anesthesiologist. I admit I am not the best student but I am hardworking and I promise your contribution to my education will not go to waste !!!

I ask for money to further my education even if it's a penny I am truly grateful for it ! I Thank You in advance and may you be blessed in return !

need help

Hi I'm a single mother of two working as a new nurse. I've gotten myself into a financial whole that has been mounting since I started school in 2010. I graduated in 2012 and am now working as an LPN, however I got myself in way over my head my last semester of school and haven't been able to play catch up since then. Currently I am one payment behind on my home, 2 on my vehicle, my water has been shut off, and my payment plan with the electric company is now void and I owe 674.00 to keep electricity. I've tried to receive state assistance to no avail as I do not qualify for their services. Any help would be much appreciated to help me get back on track.

Almost out of money

Posted by gpendle on 2012-05-13 06:58:25

Have been a great nurse for 36 years, now unemployed and have not found a job. Certainly did not think the job problem would affect nursing. I know God has a plan for me, and hope for a sign/guidance soon. My savings are almost gone to pay bills/mortgage. Don't get me wrong, I am so blessed in many ways. Am trying not to worry, but have no health insurance, all my savings will be gone in a month and I don't know what to do. Am trying to be positive, since being out of work allows me to help my future mother in law (she is 94)My fiance and I are trying to keep feeding a colony of cats, some ferel, but some have become very loving and they all look forward to our daily visits, and the food we bring. Any help would be so appreciated. Hopefully I will be able to get work soon and be able to help others.

I don't know where to go or what to do. I've left an abusive relationship and need to be living on my own. I left all my belongings and everything i know and now i'm staying at a Women's shelter. it's really scary here.

I'm also a university student Who's tuition is being paid by my abuser..I only have 1 term left before graduation and hope of a real job and life on my own. All I want in life is to be a nurse... i'm so close. My name is Holly. I pray for somebody's help. I don't have anyone to depend on but me. My graduation day is August 28th/2012 and I would love for the person who helps me to be there.

sincerely,

Trapped in a homeless shelter

Posted by Lost_in_KY on 2012-05-12 10:58:50

I'm about to be 51 years old and never thought I'd do something like this, but here goes.

I am disabled from a car wreck with a semi, among other conditions. I was on disability for 15 years, but lost it almost 5 years ago because the guy I roomed with was always gone and was supposed to take me to my doctor and Social Security review appointments. Then he got us thrown out of the apartment because he had hoarded his paychecks, was living off my money, and wasn't paying the rent or bills. He left me with a $1600 light bill ! I didn't find out any of this until we were evicted.

I have been homeless ever since, for nearly 5 years, bounced around from place to place, unable to stay in one place long enough to get thru the Social Security application process - I had to start all over again. In 2010, I spent 8 month living in a closet in Columbus, OH and starved.

I had a Social Security hearing in Lexington, KY last August and was dropped off at a horrible homeless shelter in Lexington, to stay until my hearing, when I was assured by a 'free' lawyer I'd get my disability back. I didn't and now I've been trapped in this gulag for more than 10 months, among druggies, alcholics, and ex-cons dumped off here by the police and the Dept. of Corrections. The building is infested wih bedbugs and there is black mold everywhere, which caused me to have an inner ear infection that finally blew a hole in my eardrum since I couldn't get treated for it. Men sleep on the floors and the bathroom is a chamber of horrors. I've had food poisoning 4 times and a couple months ago, more than 40 men sought treatment for food poisoning. The nurse who reported the cases to the Health Dept suddenly left, while the cook remains at work. A Veteran's Admin rep said he wouldn't give the food served here to his dog.

I'm trapped here because Kentucky discriminates against men in that it will not give us Medicaid cards unless we're already on Social Security. This prevents me from having a family doctor and care for my disabilities, which I need in order to win back my benefits. Under these conditions, I will never be able to get out of this nightmare.

I have a friend in Florida who wants me to come down there. FL will give me a Medicaid card and I could at least have a fighting chance to win my disability back. As I've said; I was on it for 15 years and was repeatedly approved every 2 years during the case reviews. I need to get out of this awful state if this nightmare is ever to end. I've lost almost 11 months of my life being warehoused in a place that's one step above prison, and I've done nothing wrong to deserve this. Yet I'm subject to the same rules and restrictions as the ex-cons who live on the floors above me.

I have no family left to fall back on, so all I can do is ask for help. I need money to get to FL so I can get a doctor and my disabillity back, and have a life again. It will cost around $500 to get my things shipped to Orlando, and another $200 to get me there. Then I'd need somewhere to stay until I can get thru the Social Security process again. After that, I'd be OK.

Thank you for reading all this any any help offered would change my life. I would do everything I could to help other homeless men so as to give back help given me when I most needed it.

Injured nurse and family need help

Posted by jjhoppy5 on 2012-04-28 15:58:57

Have you ever had one of those years? I am a Registered nurse who was injured on the job more than three years ago, I was on long term disability through the hosptial as they cannot fix the injury and I have permanent restrictions placed upon my license and cannot lift more than 10 lbs no one not even a physcians office will hire me, I found a job six months ago and started working again and as of last week found out they are closing the company on Monday, my husbands truck broke down and we had just started getting things taken care of now my landlord is upset because we are a week late on rent and we are trying to buy the house on contract. She is threatening to take us to court over not paying the rent on time. My husband and I always try to help those in need and could really use the help now we have three children 17-10 and I know I do not have a really sad story to tell but I am just a frustrated nurse who needs a little help to get back on her feet. It took two years to find the first job after injury Lord only knows how long it will take to find another one..... Please help if you can and God Bless those all in need.
I am a single mom of 3 working as a home health aide, was going to school for nursing assistance but i had to dropout on 4/17/12 and try to work more house catch up with my rent, unfortunately agencies don't want to pay time and a half for a Aide working more than 40 hours,
After working so hard for so many years being homeless is the last thing i would face. If don't pay by may 1st i will be evicted from my apartment, I am still hoping and praying, sleepiness nights of how would i tell my children that i failed.
If you can please find it in your heart to help we will gladly appreciate it, and even if you can't God bless you.

Please help me with Graduate school.

Hello,
You may know me as Jessica. I have posted here to request donations for graduate school. Not only do I have a great deal of student loan debt from my Graduate education with a Masters of Science in Nursing Education, Acute Care, the amount only continues to grow. This year alone, I must renew my certifications, obtain a new nursing license for multiple states, move and graduate. My education requires another 4-5 flights to Alabama for exams as well as possible hotel reservations/car rents in order to complete my education. This adventure is extremely pricey so any donation you can provide will be greatly appreciated! You may donate via credit card or PayPal and the funds will be delivered through PayPal. I will never see your payment information though I will receive an email notifying me of your donation. Thanks so much!!

Can't use FAFSA, Grants, or Federal Monies

Posted by Future-Engineer on 2012-04-24 23:58:19

Background:

I was born in Argentina, but have lived in Texas since I was 5. I had no say in it; my parents decided that’s what was best for me since Buenos Aires was so crime-ridden. I graduated high school like normal kids, went to a community college right afterwards, and worked part time to cover its costs. I got an Associate’s in Science (Nursing) and then dropped out since I couldn't afford to attend a university nor decide on a major. My GPA was a 3.4 at the time.

I'm now 25, working full time (Geek Squad, can’t do much with an associate’s), studying electrical engineering, married to my high school sweetheart, and have my goals set! I just have one thing holding me back...MONEY. Since I backtracked when I changed majors, I had a few sophomore classes to take. I'm finishing them at the same community college, and I'm registered for the Fall semester at the University of Texas at Dallas (Junior level courses). I have gotten nothing but As since I've been back!

Why I Need Your Help:

Now, you may be wondering, why can't I use FAFSA? Well, I recently obtained my permanent residence. That was a big roadblock growing up. One of the agreements I had with our nation was that I would not use federal funds (welfare, food stamps, grants, FAFSA, etc) for the next 10 years. I work full time and attend as many classes as I can per semester; I have no time for lollygagging.

Sallie Mae can only loan me so much, and banks nowadays make it very difficult to borrow from for school. All the scholarships I’ve looked for require either citizenship or full time enrollment, neither of which I am. (Can’t enroll full time because I need to work full-time to make ends meet) My father is a construction worker and I don’t know my mom, she left us when I was 7. I just sold my laptop on eBay and made myself a cheap one from recycled parts. I've tried getting internships, but I'm not deep enough into my career to be eligible yet. Nearby family members don’t have any spare cash, and don’t make enough to co-sign a loan for me….So I’m here, hoping some kind strangers can help me out.

I am a hard working student, good Samaritan, bilingual, a jokester, drug-free, do calculus in my head, pay taxes, 740 credit score, and drive a broken down Pontiac. My only goal right now is to finish school with flying colors as soon as possible; just need this financial roadblock to meet a wrecking ball.

Will you help me smash it down?

My own college fund

Posted by clayton-ak on 2012-04-24 15:58:06

I am looking for donations to help me attend college. I live in Alaska and the only schools around are the Universities, which are kind of expensive even with financial aid. I will be the first in my family to attend college, so I am very excited. My family is very poor, so they can not help me pay for such education. I am going into college for my Registered Nursing degree so that I can help people daily for the rest of my life. Every little bit helps and thank you for reading

Laid off, disabled, losing our home

Posted by layoff on 2012-04-18 16:58:11

My situation is more complicated than I can explain, however I ended up as a single parent despite having been married and never expecting this circumstance. In brief, my husband experienced the onset of severe, debilitating mental illness and made several suicide attempts before we split up and my daughter and I have been alone since the last twenty years. I worked hard and partially succeeded in raising my daughter alone but during the last twenty years I became ill. My husband's family want little to do with us and do not provide us with any support. My daughter is trying to get through post secondary education and I am hoping that the economy will be improving but meanwhile I cannot pay the bills because my hours were cut. My own father is in a nursing home, he has no money to speak of, my mother died last year, and my husband's family will not help us despite their own wealth. We want desperately to become more independent but do not want to rip anyone off. If you are interested in my cause let me know. If everyone who read my message gave only a single dollar, imagine how much good it might do? We want to be able to buy a home so that we can put a stop to these high rent payments we make. A mortgage, based on my work history, would be less expensive. It sounds unreal but we live in Vancouver and want to stay here if possible for work and school. We have been here for a long time. Please let me know if you want to help us make some dreams come true. If you do, then I can provide you with more information to make donations and more details on our lives and how your donations are helping us. I know that we do not live a third world lifestyle but many people are unaware of how quickly homelessness can happen in North America due to lack of family support, which is our problem. Please find it in your heart to help us.
