Help A Navy Family Get Home!

Posted by iRoman on 2012-05-19 18:58:10

We are raising money to help Veterans and their Families that are in Need! Currently we are focused on a Navy family that is in dire straights! The husband is a Veteran who has just been released early from the Navy due to government budget cuts. The wife has just undergone hip and leg surgery and is currently disabled. They have two small children ages 1 and 3. They are currently in debt and have been living out of a hotel. They lost military housing a few weeks ago. Also their car has broken down. They are currently in Virginia. They were kicked out of the hotel and as of now they are literally on the sidewalk. They have no place to go, and they have no money. They need money so that they can travel back to Illinois where their families are! Please please help! Help a Navy Family get home. All donations will be used to help this family and many others like it!

Disabled Veteran Denied Disabiliy, No Income Please Help

Posted by desperate4help on 2012-04-21 05:58:17

Disabled United States Navy Veteran. I am not physically able to work, but was denied disability a couple of days ago. I do not have any income, am staying with a family member for now, I need money! Any amount would be greatly appreciated. If I don't get help soon, I will be homeless! I am appealing the disability decision, so I hope this is a temporary need for help. I am asking for help on two websites so far, this is not something I decided to do that was an easy decision. I am at my rock bottom and in desperate need of some help! I have had thoughts like I'd be better off dead, I know this is not good, and am seeing a doctor for the depression. I take a lot of prescribed meds for pain, and the VA doctors and nurses told me that I'm not even supposed to drive a car while taking the medications. So, I don't know what to do, do not have any public transport where I live.

No Time To Waste - Ailing Parents

Posted by AlgoHall on 2012-03-24 23:58:38

I'm going to get straight to the point and be %100 honest so that I don't waste your time.

My name is Micheal. I am a 23-year-old male living in the midwest. I currently have a job at a failing restaurant and am struggling to look for a job in a failing job market.

My old roommate left me to join the Navy and I have been in dire financial straits ever since (I have gone through dozens of potential roommates and NONE of them were responsible enough to pay their rent or they failed to move in). My rent is VERY high (a little over $700). I can only take serving jobs, because they are the only type of job which provides an average amount of money per hour for me to barely scrape by (I have to make at LEAST $15-$20 an hour to have a place to live and there are no non-specialized jobs that will pay that much per hour to someone with no advanced education).

To the point though, this post isn't really for me; it is for my parents. My parents are BOTH on disability and barely make enough COMBINED to pay for the house that they live in. I constantly have to assist them with living expenses among other things (food and medicine usually). Yes they do get quite a bit of government assistance, but with NO other source of income, things are impossible for them without my help (for example, I had to take on the full car payment for an Acura that my father owned that costs me nearly $400 a month NOT including the insurance).

Now, with myself in financial difficulties, they too are faced with the threat of losing much-needed medicine, vehicle transportation, and possibly their home.

I am making this post in hopes that there is someone who can help keep the worst from happening in my life and for my parents. I don't want to fail them as a son, so I have made this post in a last-ditch effort to plead for assistance. Anything that you can contribute would help me with bills for both myself and my parents. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I wish that you be blessed.

Veteran having triplets

Posted by navy_veteran on 2012-02-03 11:58:15

Hello, I'm a Navy Corpsman Veteran and my wife and I founf out that we are going to have triplets this year. We both work (at not ghreat paying jobs) but she will be on bed rest soon (at 20 weeks) so we will only have one income coming in. On top of all this, our car's engine just threw a rod and will cost $4,500 to replace (money that we don't have and should be going towards kid items. This is the first time I've ever done anything like this, so I'm ashamed of myself for even asking for help. Any little bit will help my wife and soon to be two identical twins and one fraternal triplet. Thank You and God Bless

Can't make rent

Posted by thetaci on 2012-01-01 08:58:25

I am a Navy Vet who has been without a job for 3 years. I have been living off of my GI Bill while I work towards my BA. My benefits ran out last semester as I don't quite qualify for the post 9-11 GI bill due to when I was honorably discharged. I am only 3 credits away from my BA and I am having allot of trouble making rent for myself and my 9 year old daughter. Financial Aid will pay for school but it leaves me nothing for rent. If there is anything you can do to help it would be much appreciated.

Need all around help

We are a family that just got out of the military a few months ago and the transition has been extremely haed. We had no money after moving in a hurry after the Navy told ua 6 days in advance that my husband date to get out changed. So that took all of our savings. I work now and he goes to school but has been trying to get a job also. We have had our house broken into our daughter is a college student at Livingstone College in Salisbury. N.C. Where she is a senior and we have to send money so that she can eat and get to her internship. Well we cant now because a mechanic shop messed over us with overcharging us for her truck and then it still broke down when she got back to school. I had to take out payday loans to help pay bills and feed us so we have no money because that is where my check goes also. We have 2 car notes to pay and insurance plus rent and electricity. Not to mention feeding our other 3 daughters. My husband served his country faithfully and did so willingly without any repremands or disciplinary problems and it seems that he doesnt exist now that we need help nobody will help us. We are a giving and kind family that are always giving and helping others and that is what we love to do but we need help now and nobody is there. Everything is due on or around the first. Family seeking new start in life needs some help

Posted by royhorner on 2011-10-04 11:58:59

In an attempt to start anew,my wife and I and our four children recently moved from Pennsyslvania back to our hometown of Louisville, KY, where the cost of living is much more affordable.
To forestall the spectre of foreclosure, we did a short sale on our PA house, and are now renting in Louisville.
Since arriving here in July, I have been unemployed (with the exception of an 11-day temporary job). We have fallen behind in our rent and bills to the amount of $3,000 to $5,000, and we need something within that amount to regain our footing. I start a new FT job today, Oct. 4, that offers +40 hours a week with opportunities for OT and, I hope, advancement. My wife and kids are also passionately seeking employment (one of my sons recently started a new job).
All was going well until 2005 when I lost the career/professional position I had that included a decent salary and healthcare for my entire family. In the past six years I have been underemployed with damaging stints of underemployment. Two times I've been laid off. I've washed dishes in a restaurant, mopped floors in a nursing home and worked for a mammoth retailer, all in an effort to provide for my family and seek open windows of opportunity. In one job I even worked five consecutive 15-hour shifts. I have more than 120 resumes pending for various government and private sector jobs.
I'm a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the father of three Boy Scouts, including one who is an Eagle Scout.
I could also provide references.
Any aid in any amount would be beneficial and greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration. God bless you.

Please help a sailor give her fiance a dream wedding.

Posted by NightQueen on 2011-09-05 19:58:08

I've been in the Navy for 6 years and served 3 back to back deployments. My fiance is very ill and most of our money goes into paying medical bills.

We want to get married in a wonderful memorable way but if we get the wedding we want, we will not be able to afford to eat, even with my benefits. The military will not recognize our union (we are gay) so we will not get the benefits that straight married couples do. We will still be scraping away to pay for her medical bills and have a roof over our head.

I want to give my fiance the dream wedding she has always wanted but never thought she would have.

Some background, she cannot work, but she volunteers working with kids and helping animals. She's my hero, and I just want to give her the best I can. This wedding would be the ultimate gift to her spirit.

Thank you.

Single Mom w/ severely handicapped daughter, 18

Posted by chall on 2011-06-02 18:58:38

Hello. First of all I appreciate anyone who is reading this and considering donating to anyone here. I am a Navy veteran, single mom of an 18 y.o. girl who has cerebral palsy and developmental delay. I have 3 jobs (1 full-time, 1 part-time during the week, 1 weekend.), and I lost my weekend job for the first 5 months of the year (approx. $800-$1000./mo. my good paying job). I am back now to work but have fallen behind in rent. My clutch went out last month and that $650. wiped me out completely. I now have run out of time on my car payment deferment and I own for April, May and now June rent at $1000./mo. My landlord has been very understanding of my situation and does not want to evict me but I have not been able to catch up. I have never asked for the help of perfect strangers and I'm putting this in the hands of God either way. Anything you can do will help. There is no donation too small. Please feel free to contact me at leneeq7@yahoo.com for more info, questions or just to see we are real people in real trouble. Thank you for your time.

2nd Chance A Charm

Posted by Aelek on 2011-05-04 14:58:34

Hello, I have just recently medically retired from the Marine Corps after 13 years of faithful service. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend. However lately, with all the changes I have had to endure, I have felt invisible. I injured my back during martial arts training and didnt seek the medical attention I needed until it was too late. I had even gotten to half way of my Marine Corps Marathon training but had to stop due to numbness and tingling in the feet. Once I finally did try to get the medical attention I needed, I was told I had a somatoform disorder, which means the pain is all in my head and not in my body at all. After seeing a Navy shrink I was told I had a personality disorder and he submitted a Administrative discharge request to my Commanding Officer, I was devastated. I loved the Marine Corps and everything that came with it. I had no intentions of leaving it and only wanted to get better and seek proper care. Instead of getting the help I needed medically, I had to fight to keep my career and lively hood. After further tests, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, a pinched nerve, carpal tunnel in both wrists and buldging discs. I had to be seperated medically. Depression is not even close to the word to describe what I fell into. My goal-dream was to be a Drill Instuctor, fight a good fight over seas and put in 20 years. In the blink of an eye it was all gone. Now I had to let go of my aspirations of what could have been and now try to figure out what I was good for now. A little bit about my self:I was raised in Austin, Texas by my maternal grandparents, left by my biological mother at 15 days old on Christmas Day 1975. I endured a strict upbringing and borderline abuse, much due to my grandmother’s fear of becoming my "mothers, daughter". I have never known who my father is and doubt he knows I even exist. I had been the witness and the victim of neglect and child abuse by my mother who was and is still heavily into alcohol and drugs. She had two more daughters in which I helped raise up until they were left in another state with relatives. It was then that I left to the Marine Corps at the age of 19, mostly to find myself and forget myself. During one tour in California, I was made aware that one of my sisters, 7 years my junior, was in need of my help due to abuse from the relative she was left with. An uncle who had abused her from the age of 6 until she was 12. I took emergency leave and went to get her, I already married with a newborn, and I knew I had to lend a hand and help. The abuse and trauma was too severe and the state of California took custody of her after a failed suicide attempt in her high school. I continued my military service until I received yet another call, this time for my youngest sister, 12 years my junior, was in states custody and if I could provide a stable home for her. I was now a single mother of a 4 year old and still an active duty Marine, but again, could not turn my back on the need she had. I put in the time and the effort, attending family counseling 5hours away and meeting with doctors and lawyers to get the process started to get her into a stable situation. Finally at the age of 14 she was placed with me and I was granted custody. I enrolled her in to high school and away we went onward and upward in our life. It was not close to "traditional" but we had each other and that was more than what most have. I received orders to Japan for 3 years accompanied and although I had reservations about the huge change I took it in stride. I had pleaded my case to the Marines about staying until my sister graduated in 2years but at the need of the Corps I was sent anyway. In Japan, after only being there for about 6months, my sister started to self mutilate again. With that the military sent me back to my previous base and committed her to a hospital immediately. After a 30 day stay and with support and guidance she eventually got to a place where she could receive the help she needed to heal. She graduated from high school and is now in the medical field working full time and engaged. After that chapter closed the new one with my medical mishaps in the Corps started full force. I am not one to really get or ask for help, and have been in the business of giving but I am hoping now in the oddest of places, maybe I can, with my story inspire someone to pay it forward and lend a hand. I thank any donation and appreciate any amounts. I am trying to start my own resale shop online and hope with some assistance I can get to a better place in my life as sometimes the future seems real dim. Thank you in advance and God bless.

Homeless - Suit for Interview

Posted by Hopefulhomeless on 2011-04-05 15:58:43

I'm a recently homeless business professional. No drug, alcohol, emotional, etc... problems. Just a tragic turn of events made me homeless and broke 2 months ago. I have a job interview with a bank, and will need a suit, shoes, etc... asap to take me through the interview process. I'm living in a homeless shelter, so I have food and a roof. I would be eternally grateful if someone could help me with my clothing need. Either donated clothing, or a loan for new clothing. If I get the job, I'd receive a signing bonus and could immediately repay a loan. My clothing sizes: Suit: 41L Shirt 15 ½ 34 Slacks: 33/33 Shoes: 11.5. Ideal setup: conservative navy blue 3 button suit, conservative cap toe oxford black lace up shoes, conservative black belt gold buckle. I have a good shirt. They must be top quality - well fitted. Someone could either send the clothes directly to my Case Manager at the shelter, or if it was for a loan, they could authorize a menswear store with credit - include your paypal details so I could repay you when I get the job??? Open to ideas. For this type of banking job, appearance is paramount, and I'm in a very bad situation at the moment. Please donate what you can, or perhaps a menswear store can help? Thank you so much.

Help getting out of debt before I go to basic...

Posted by Fallowe on 2011-03-29 08:58:35

I'm struggling to make ends meet before I go off to basic training for the Navy. My bills will just keep stacking while I'm at basic due to late fees and interest. I just graduated from College and I'm barely making enough to make minimum payments and still afford a place to live. I've done everything I can, and I'm now resorting to begging... I just need enough to pay off my credit card bill, which is around $300 (as of now, the interest and late fees while I'm at basic will be killer...) and any help would be greatly appreciated...

If I can't get any money directly from you, then I would appreciate help in another form. I do surveys online for a few hours each night to make a few extra bucks. I can get money for referrals, and even if you just do enough to get me a few dollars, I would more than appreciate the help. I really need it.

Wedding Expenses

Posted by stinav on 2011-03-28 15:58:50

My fiance of 5 years and I are in the middle of planning our wedding. We have some stuff already bought, and my parents were going to pay for the whole thing but have been struck with hard times as my dad had to have a major surgery right away and can't work a lot (he's in construction). I'm not a bridezilla or anything, and I am trying to be very frugal with this, but I can't turn back now since the hall has been booked and the best man got time off from the Navy for that specific date. We have 4 months to try to make enough money for it, but of course some things need to be paid upfront. Anything helps and is much appreciated. Thank you.

Need help before i go to boot camp.

Posted by campbelljosh on 2011-02-21 00:58:14

Hey my name is josh and im 20 years old and just joined the navy and i need a little help to get everything straitened out before i go. To do this i need like 500 dollars more than i have. This would be to help pay everything before i go to boot camp cause while im in i cant really do anything about paying bills for two months. Things would be like my car payment and i help my mom pay her rent so that would help her more than me. well if you think you can help anything would do even a dollar.

Well thank you for reading and listing and if you donate i would really like to thank you for helping me out and my mom for that matter.
