Industrial Engineer in Western Pennsylvania has seen tough times since 2006. Plants closed and were shipped off to Mexico and China. I'm happy to say that as of May 2012, I've found another job and I'm back on the treadmill of life practicing my trade once again.

I need to bring my vehicle payments current so I can keep my job. If I can make it to November.. all will be fine. I need $7500 and I will pay it back on November 9, 2012 in full plus $800 interest for 5 months

Hi, I was recently living in Cancun working and studying. Somebody starting stalking me and would break into my apartment whenever I was out. They stole my cameras, my computer, my clothes, my ipod. The last night that I was there they went in to try to do something to me. It was a traumatic experience and I decided to go home to Canada. However, now that I am here I have no job and no computer. Ok so my dad has worked hard all of his life and after working a great job for over 30 years his job goes to Mexico. Around the same time my mother suffered a stroke leaving her paralyzed on her left side. No insurance=no meds. Finally he found another job making less than half of what he did make. About 2 months later mom had another stroke and took her life. Now he is in desperate need of any help just to avoid losing the home I grew up in. For kayaker Steven Banks, it is going to be more about physical as well as mental endurance rather than simply covering a set distance around Marco, Goodland and Cape Romano.

Banks, owner of Dreamlander Tours, on April 20 will set out on a 24-mile round trip he estimates will take about 24 hours, including a night stop on the water in the vicinity of Cape Romano when he will be on his own without a back-up team.

He is attempting the feat to raise money for three of his pet charities, the Impact community outreach ministry overseen by local pastor Ben Sprankle; a Malawi, Africa, charitable medical clinic called Partners in Hope; and a Cuaravac, Mexico, mother who is blind and has an epileptic son.

A poignant Marco Island connection is that another of her sons, Benito, worked on the island, raised a family, but died in 2011 from meningitis following a mosquito bite.

Banks had befriended Benito.

“Before he passed, he asked to make sure his mother and brother were taken care of,” Banks said.

A trip to Mexico to meet them prompted Banks to do everything he can for them, and his goal is to have them come to the United States for treatment.

Banks has called his fundraising paddle Kayak Marco 24.

It will consist of the 24-hour paddle that may incur inclement weather and unpredictable winds, put him at risk during the Cape Romano solo stop, and put strain on his body because of being out on the water for such an extended time.

But he is not too worried about that aspect.

As a hands-on guide, he paddles up to five or six hours at least three times a week, so has plenty of residual paddling fitness.

Still, he said, the length of time he will spend out on the water represents an unpredictable challenge, so he is avoiding any kind of complacency.

Banks’ route is not a fixed affair either, other than he starts and finishes at the Snook Inn.

While winds are unpredictable from this far out, tides are not, so Banks is studying charts and conferring with some of his charter fishing captain friends to map out the best places to try to be at certain times.

The combination of headwinds as well as fighting an in- or outgoing tide could be formidable, he said.

If the going is really good, he added, he will probably put in extra miles.

The kayak Banks plans to paddle is not the sleek, 17-foot kind that could zip around Marco, Goodland and Cape Romano in a matter of a few hours.

He will be using an ordinary, fairly short and stable craft that doesn’t have much gliding ability, so every stroke will count.

While Banks’ sole motivation for the endurance paddle is for his three pet causes, a cherry on top may come in the form of recognition by the Guinness Book of Records.

The category would be “longest nonstop time period for a single person kayaking.”

The recognition would be subject to correct and exhaustive documentation, Banks said.

Ava is our adorable pup that we adopted through the
Penny Foundation. Ava is a rescue dog from Mexico. She has filled our
lives with joy and happiness. Ava turned one year old in February. She
is a very active, playful pup who is full of life. A month ago, the exuberant Ava was playing in our backyard. She slipped, and ripped a
tendon in her right hind leg. Upon initial vet exam, she was deemed
fine. However, the condition persisted and she refused to play or go
for walks (VERY unusual for Ava). We took her to a different vet a week
later, and the diagnosis came in – Ava would require surgery. There was
no other option. The injury would not heal on its own. The vet told us
that Ava’s breed is prone to this type of injury. We were very sad to
hear this, as Ava is so young and the surgery would require two months
of recovery time. The surgery is also expensive – $3000 minimum. My
husband and I are not rich people, and are therefore trying to raise
some money to go towards Ava’s surgery. Any amount will help. We want
Ava to make a full recovery, and get back to her normal, fun, playful
puppy lifestyle. The vet told us the prognosis after surgery is very
good, and that Ava should return to full function. Please help Ava.

Thank you for even reading this because if you have then you are seeking to help people in need and you must have a wonderful heart. I have in recent years reached out to orphaned children in both Uganda and Mexico who needed me so I have no problems with asking for some help myself at this time.

After 3 years of back and forth with Social Security, I finally was approved for federal disability. Thankfully, I can move forward with testing and treatments to figure out what is causing the multiple symptoms disabling me. My sole desire is to get well enough to return to work in at least some capacity. Now I have some savings from back disability owed but not quite enough to finally purchase my own home. I am looking to purchase a modest home that is manageable for me in my condition. One that is safe and secure for me and my toy poodle who deserves something nice. Although I have enough for a decent down payment, my credit has suffered due to my inability to work. My medical bills went straight to my credit report as being unpaid while I waited for SSDI approval and Medicare approval. My credit score is below 600 and I cannot get a loan. I have $20,000 I can put toward my very first home ever. My goal is to get my $20,000 matched in order for me to purchase a small home/condo for approximately $40,000. My income is $955/mo and I still need to find suitable transportation also. My last vehicle was basically stolen by a predatory towing service and I was incapacitated at the time due to my disability and later was unable to afford retrieving the vehicle because of outrageous storage fees. Currently family members are taking me everywhere which can sometimes be more difficult than helpful. I A modest reliable vehicle is what I need. I was, as I am now, a poor student in Colorado and a "lucky bum" who finally got a break by love finding him. Currently I study foreign language, ie; Spanish, French, German, Russian, and Latin. As impressively smart as one would assume i'd have to be to study so many languages at once, to the contrary I was terribly stupid where it matters most, which is at romance. In short because of being a total " fat -head" and ingrate, I let her get on a plane out of my life without saying goodbye. Its been over a year.

Since then, my nights have been like torture without her, and each new romantic fling has been as hollow and meaningless as the preceding. The good news is however, that her and I have keep frequent contact via SKYPE.COM video calls.(thank God 4 skype!) She is in the same position as I am, realizing that she too cannot find closure to our love, and therefore we have decided that we want to be together, except forever this time. So I decided to move to Buenos Aires, Argentina indefinitely to be with the only girl for me.

However it is not enough for me to just get a plane ticket and rush over to South America and live happily ever after, I will also need a job, as well as a room or a hostel to stay in while I job hunt. ( Quite frankly, I am not trying to be unemployed,broke, and living in her mother's house in S. America, no thanks!) Therefore I am also hoping to earn/receive enough money to enroll in a program called ITTO or (International Teachers Training Organization) in Guadalajara, Mexico to receive my license to teach English as a second language(TESL) before going to live in Buenos Aires.

Target date you ask? I am trying to get out of here by early september or october of 2011. As it stands I am basically homeless, out of school for vacation, (meaning no financial aid) and have been doing temporary labor jobs which barely keeps me fed on the weekly basis, let alone permit me to save money for the provisions necessary to go on this life altering journey to find the truth of true love.

All together, I estimate with the cost of a round trip ticket to Argentina ( round trip, because non- citizens are not permitted with one way tickets) as well as the cost of the fore mentioned ITTO course and travel to and from Mexico from Colorado, plus the survival money I will need once ( god willing) I arrived in B's A's, I stand in a financial need of about $5,000.00 or slightly more.

I realize there are people with more important matters that can use money, and I truly hope they receive charity just as I would like to. However this is a petition for those who understand what it is like to let the perfect one get away and could do little or nothing about it, like a child who drops their ice cream off the cone and sadly watches as it melts on the side walk. By donating to this cause, you can be the "adult" who walks up to that kid, fumbles in his pocket for some spare change to present that poor kid with a new ice cream that takes the tears from their eyes. She is my ice cream, and I don't want another flavor for my whole life. I would like to tell you a story that relates to why I am asking for help.
My father was a Vietnam vet who proudly enlisted into the army to serve his country. After willingly serving two tours of duty, he came home and married my mother (his high school sweetheart) and started a family consisting of me and my two older sisters.
When I was four, my father began experiencing difficulties with his legs and feet. After many unsuccessful operations, it was determined that he was losing the bone density in his legs and he was put in a wheelchair.
My father was an amazing man; he never let his being in a wheelchair keep him down. He climbed Pike's Peak twice and Mount Evans once in his wheelchair, one of his climbs was filmed by a local TV show in Colorado called P.M. Magazine. We have the video footage on beta and are trying to find a way to convert it to DVD. I would love to share his story with anyone wanting to watch it. It shows what a courageous man he was. It was a heartbreaking climb over rough terrain and sometimes he had to strap his wheelchair to his ankles and drag it while he scooted up steep inclines on his backside. It never deterred him. He had more strength and determination than any man I have ever met in my life. He also ran marathons in his wheelchair and spoke to other handicapped and disabled individuals to help them realize that although someone may be hindered, it just means that they learn to function differently. "I may be in a wheelchair, but the wheelchair isn't in me," he used to say.
In 1987, when I was 12, the harsh weather conditions of Colorado became unbearable for my father and we moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico.
My father was never granted disability in Colorado or New Mexico and while he fought for 30 years for his pension from the Army, he never received that either (the common story of we can't seem to find your files even though my father repeatedly submitted his paperwork to show his contribution to our country). As a result, my mother found herself working 2 full time jobs just to support us and we still barely made ends meet.
We grew up poor our entire lives, but we understood what it was like to be rich in other ways. Our family was close and we knew that, no matter how rough things could be at times, that we really did have each other. My sisters and I grew very close over the time when we had no electricity and only had each other to listen to because we didn't have the power for television and radio. We are still very close to this day. I will never regret how we grew up, even with the struggles, because it was the foundation of who we are today. We all learned how to be kind and unselfish and value each other. Both my sisters and I all have our own children and work hard to instill the same values in them.
In 2000, my father was diagnosed with lung cancer as a result of being subjected to Agent Orange while in Vietnam. The tumors were visible in both lungs and nothing could be done. He passed away one week after the diagnosis. We had no time to prepare and certainly no time to say goodbye.

My mother now lives in PA in a cute little Amish town. She has since remarried a wonderful man named Jack. He is also a Vietnam veteran.

My sisters and I still live in New Mexico with our families, although my heart is definitely on the east coast with my mother.
A short time after my mother moved to PA, she got a
job as a nurse. She loved helping other people as she had done all her life. Unfortunately, she suffered a fall that left her with permanent neck and spinal injuries. After going through her own numerous surgeries, she was unable to continue the work that she loved so much. The tables have turned from when we were growing up where she was the only source of income and Jack has been the sole provider for the last several years.
Recently, Jack began to feel very ill and it looks like the effects of Agent Orange have done their damage once again. He is suffering from skin cancer and stage 4 prostate cancer and after going through a series of tests, the probability of also having lymphoma is very high. My mother is going through the same horror once again and while my sisters and I are grown, losing a father to Agent Orange for the second time isn't easy on the heart.
A few years ago, my mother lost both parents and her only sibling, a brother, in the span of four months. She has nobody and I can't bear to leave her alone while she suffers physically and emotionally.
Unfortunately, I lost my job a couple months ago due to layoffs and have had extreme difficulty finding another source of income. Las Cruces is a small city with very limited opportunity. While I worked in the same profession for the past 11 years, I have applied for any and every type of job I could find.
We are struggling to find a way to move close to my mother so that I can take care of her and so she won't be alone if she loses Jack. My sisters and I are the only family she has left and I want nothing more than to be there for her.

I am hoping to find a job there very quickly and I would also love to attend schooling and get my degree in forensics. It has been a dream of mine to be able to assist in solving crime related cases. I firmly believe that I can accomplish my career goals and help my mother if I were in a state with far more job opportunities.
We have never been comfortable financially and my 2 teenage boys understand what it is like to do without the things they want in exchange for just the things they need, much like my sisters and I when we were growing up. I have always wanted more for my kids than to see them grow up here in a high poverty state. I believe the job opportunities and schooling for them will be equally beneficial. They both already have career minded goals that will take them farther in a bigger state.

It has been 4 years since I've seen my mother as neither of us can afford the expense of a trip.

All I am requesting is enough assistance to be able to move my family closer to my mother and locate a house to rent while I search for a job. I am only asking for short term support as I know that I am capable of supporting my own family and I am certain that I will be able to find gainful employment in a short time.

So here is my story I am a married 30 years old woman who is filing for a visa for my husband we have to relocate to Mexicoin the next few months, tell me how this is possible when we live paycheck to paycheck. We were told it could be as little as 3 weeks to as long as 10 years. What will we do we have no house or jobs in Mexico. So I am asking for your help to build a small little house for us to live in. My father in law has found us an cheap piece of land but I don't think we have enough money to build on it yet, since we also have to try and save to pay our bills here in the US at the same time. My father in law told us that we could proably build a house from any where from 7000 to 10000 dollars. Please help us try and make this move a liilte bit more smoother. Hello my name is Rachel and I have a dream. My dream is to record my outdoor hikes and edit them into videos that will be posted to Youtube to be viewed by those who might be house bound or not able to walk the trails. My ultimate goal is to record my family walking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2019 in full from Mexico to Canada. In the meantime we are training on local trails and will record them for public enjoyment.
