Bad Luck Year

Posted by WALKENDEN on 2012-05-04 14:58:43

I have had a very bad time this year. In January I slipped on the ice and broke my shoulder, resulting in about $17,000 in medical bills. On St. Valentines day my apartment caught fire and I lost almost all my personal possessions. I was lucky that a few items were in my truck. Today I am working for Waste Management Inc. at just over minimum wage and trying to pay off my medical and other debts. I sleep on an air mattress and get much of my food and clothing from charitable organizations. My weekly paycheck will only cover rent and electricity after the the other bills. I know I will live through this but,at 57 years old I probably will never pay off all I owe, or even make it to retirement age.

Need a little help

Posted by rward828 on 2012-03-31 02:58:53

Hi. My Name is Robert. I am a 28 year old male who has recently moved to a new state in search of a better life. I have not had the best of luck with jobs. The job lined up for me fell through, and I began working temp jobs to make ends meet. I was staying with family and was out of work from Thanksgiving to New Years. I found a new job in mid January and then was asked to move out of my families house on February 1st. I am doing all that I can (working 70 hours a week) but unfortunately it isn't enough. I am late on rent and need $825 to cover March and April. I am also past due on car payments and approaching 60 days late. I am needing $550 for that. I have tried applying for loans and continue to be denied. I am also stuck in the payday loan cycle and am paying interest every two weeks to refinance. With just $3,000.00 total I will be able to get caught up and take the training courses I need for my job to increase my salary and be able to continue to pay bills in a timely manner.

I know there are others here who need help more than I, I just am at my wits end with phone calls and letters demanding payment. I have considered sleeping in my car just to make the payment. I do not have anyone in my family who can help and I am not an irresponsible kid living beyond my means. I am currently sleeping in an empty bedroom on an air mattress and going hungry 2-3 days a week just to pay what I can.

I humbly ask anyone out there who can help me please do. Once on my feet, I have every intention to give back to others. Anything helps. God Bless.

In need of furniture for new apartment

Posted by Ulquiorra on 2012-03-21 16:58:28

My name is Alec, and I am an 18 year old male moving into an apartment on my uncle's NH farm-house's property.

I have no bed, no chairs, no table, or anything else for that matter, furniture wise and most unfortunately no money.

I am currently sleeping on a blow-up mattress that deflates while I sleep so I am laying on the floor when I wake up.

What I am hoping to find is:

A bed (bedding would be nice too)
A small/medium sized desk/table
A chair (or two)
Some pots and pans to cook with
Some paper plates/bowls and plastic utensils
A desk lamp
A floor lamp
anything at all is greatly appreciated

If you have any of these items and are willing to let me have them please contact me on my cellphone at 1(781)789-1983 (Call or Text).

I am currently located in Center Barnstead, NH (approx. 20miles from Concord and Rochester and approx. 40miles from Laconia) and am willing to come to you to pick up anything you're willing to part with that I can use (distance dependant).

I would like to thank you all in advance for your generosity

Every penny counts... please help. we are desperate.

I never thought I would be on one of these sites. I worked very very hard to get to where I am today and now I am faced with losing it all.

We had a very difficult last couple of monthes, but manageable. I was sick for a month or so, nothing serious but enough to exhaust me. It all started with a minor yet very painful back injury. We, made a decision to purchase a friendlier mattress as my husband and I both work in intensive labor jobs and our bodies have taken quite a toll. It helps emmensely and although i was still sick, i was sleeping through the night. Recently married in August, we have about 10,000 in credit card debt, most of which is still paying for the wedding. Being suckers for animals, we took in an abandoned cat a couple monthes back.. she turned out to be pregant with behavioral issues. We kept 2 of the kittens, making 4 cats total, which is a huge adjustment. The damage to our apartment though is considerable. We figured by the time we decided to move we'd have the damages saved up as it is importnat to leave the apartment int he best shape possible. I knew we had stretched ourselves a little thin but I figured we'd be able to catch up in a couple monthes. After vet bills to care for the cats (a staggering $400) we were settling in to figure how to bring ourselves back on track. My husband's job puts him at risk for injury, as does mine. He was diagnosed with a hernia a week ago and meets with the surgeon to schedule the repair before it gets worse (it is already interfereing with his life as it is painful).

This morning my husband lost his job and I was put on notice. We cannot pay our bills. The timing is the perfect storm and we are desperaste.

We know we made poor decisions. This is too public a venue to truly explain How far we both have come in our lives, the obstacles we overcame to get here and how vehemently hard we worked to make our lives what they have been these last couple of years. There was a time I would not have dared to dream my life could be so blessed. And now, a few small mistakes could take it all away.

I am hoping to get a little money, any money really..to help offset our bills so that we have time to find another job. This website is my my desperate plea.
thank you

60 years old and sleeping on my floor

Posted by Hanovergal51 on 2011-12-29 12:58:43

I recently moved to an apartment and am lucky to have a home and a job. Believe me, I am grateful!! Currently I sleep on a single mattress on my floor. My last job ended in January 2011 and I am working but cannot seem to quite catch up and free up enough cash to afford a bedframe or box springs. The twin mattress is fine but getting up and down with arthritis in my legs and back is tougher every morning. I do not have a couch either, just in case you are wondering why I am not using it as a bed.
I have a home, a job, and food on the table and consider myself truly blessed, but a regular bed would be nice.
A dollar or two from fifty people will go a long way in helping me purchase a used bedframe and boxframe from Goodwill or a thrift shop. I love camping as much as the next Girl Scout but this is tough.
I am single and I live alone. Thanks!!!

A hero for a hero..

Posted by TheRealAliQ on 2011-11-10 00:58:45

Hi, my name is Ali Q.

This is my story, I used to work in law enforcement before my disability effected my work. I have helped a lot of people and even saved lives. I'm good person, and most importantly, a human being.

Since my disability this year I have been forced to move my rented home because of a bed bug infestation, and when I say forced to move I mean getting kicked out by the landlord for making complaints on the issue. Anyways, I don't want to make this long so i'll skip ahead.

I live on disability which gives me $469 for shelter allowance. My rent is $650 in a basement apartment. I have no furniture in my living room and have a mattress in there which I sleep on. By the end of every month I find myself broke and hungry. I am forced to live in poverty as punishment for my disability here in Canada. If I want couches or a dining table I have to go without food for weeks at a time as a "sacrifice" just to be able to afford a decent sofa.

I tried every other way I could but at last it came to this as I sit here writing to you at 1:30am begging for any help you can offer.

This is my life. And this is my story.

I am only 30 years old.

Olivia deserves 1 toy this year..

Posted by petitemommy on 2011-11-02 13:58:26

My name is Sarah, and I am 23 years old. I have a 2 year old daughter Olivia, who is my light and the reason I am still living. Her father abandoned us when I discovered he was doing heroin. We were married for 7 years and he was always gone but I thought it was because he was working. As foolish as I was, I got out of the situation and recently got Olivia and I a roof over our heads. I work fulltime as a pharmacy technician but i only make $7.25 an hour. Olivia asked me the other day if she was a bad girl because she never gets any toys. I have just enough to keep us fed, a roof over our heads and barely make it for diapers. We share a toddler mattress on the floor and have 1 cup and 2 bowls and 1 set of silverware.. so needless to say I just can't buy any toys. She wanted me to write a letter to santa asking for a coloring book and some crayons because she wants to be able to color at home. It broke my heart. I literally do not even have a $1 extra to purchase these things for her, and it makes me feel like such a horrible mother. If anyone could help me get my daughter a coloring book and crayons from santa, I will be eternally grateful and you will make a precious little girls dreams come true.

Severly disabled son needs clothing and bed, home repair

Posted by bluecrystal on 2011-10-22 22:58:19

My almost 19 year old son, who is autistic and nonverbal, and is not potty trained, needs a full size mattress terribly. He is not toilet trained, and has wet the bed so often I cannot clean it anymore. He has broken the box springs and frame compelty, but my husband has fashioned a frame out of 2 x 4's. His disability causes him to have extreme agression, and he continually breaks windows, makes holes in walls, tears up his clothing, unravels carpet, tore up laminate flooring,so many things. In one week he tore up 5 pair of shorts and 6 shirts, and 6 pair of socks. He even does it at school. He tore up 3 sets of sheets just last month. He wears adult diapers, which cost a lot. The state does give him medicaid, but they only pay for about 1/2 the diapers he uses a month. I am at my wits end trying to keep up with it. Currently there are 6 fairly large holes in the hallway, three in his bedroom, 2 in the dining room, we keep patching them but he keeps making them. I was laid off my job as a special ed aide in 2008, and then I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am currently in remission, but the medical bills are staggering and we are two months behind in rent. We owe $297 to the electric bill and only have 5 days to pay it. My husband has been looking for a second job, but he works long and odd hours and it is hard. I have tried everything to get caught up, but everything keeps happening, car repairs on our 2000 impala cost over $400, we can't get it registered because it won't pass emissions, besides our disabled son we also have a 13 year old. I don't know where else to turn.I need $1500 for rent, $300 for the electric bill, and am desperate for a new mattress or bed for my son. If anyone can help, I would be so thankful, and be sure to pass on the blessings to someone else whenever I get the chance. Thank you so much.

I am currently 17 weeks pregnant and we are currently living with some friends of ours.
My hubby is looking for a job,but is having a hard time finding work.
We are asking for any help at all!!!
A job for my hubby or for myself, baby stuff( we do have a crib and mattress)or a little help with cash or a Walmart gift card or if you could purchase the items at Walmart under me name so that I can pick them up at the Walmart closest to me, that would work too. If you can not afford to do that but could spare just 1 PENNY that would help a lot.
Thank you all for reading and for any help you can spare!

Sincerely,
A mommy to be, her loving hubby and of course their baby to be,

Desperate Times

Posted by rainbeforedawn on 2011-10-18 02:58:37

I'm 21 years old and an inspiring artist.. unfortunately I haven't been dealt the best hand.. my father passed when I was only 19 which in turn forced me to pay my own way I have no immediate family left who can help me financially.. my grandmother passed this spring due to terminal cancer.. I helped take care of my bed ridden grandmother till her passing...

all I own is a computer, a guitar and a amp that my father bought for me when I was 16. I don't have a mattress and I don't have a car.. I've been sleeping on a couch every night and I never feel well rested and I carpool to get to work. I kill myself everyday at work just to make ends meat all i can afford is the absolute necessities to survive and works been slowing down so I've been having a hard time keeping up on bills and rent..

My father always use to say "I just want better for you" and I know if he saw me now he wouldn't of wanted me to go through this. I'm a good guy with a good heart and all I ask is for the help and the opportunities that has been taken from me at this point any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Recently Single Mom needs help

Posted by Mistyhugs4u on 2011-07-22 04:58:20

I am a single mom to 3 kids age 13-8 we came for a visit to see the kids grandparents and my youngest dad called me and told me not to come back. After 8 years of dealing with his medical problems and his drinking addiction. Anyways we are starting over with nothing I do not even have a vehicle a friend came and got me and we were only suppost to be spending the weekend with their grandparents. I have horrible credit due to having fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, IBS, osteoarthritis, asthma, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic migraines & depression. I have not worked since 2002 when I was injured at work and had to sue the company but by the time I paid Medicaid back & the lawyer I got a whole $4000 and a surgery that has left me with a permanent handicap due to it never healing right. We are staying with my parents but need are own place ASAP, my youngest daughter needs size 7/8 clothes, my oldest daughter needs 14/16 in shirts and size 3 in jrs. & we desperately need a bed we are sleeping on air mattresses and the queen size one has so many holes in it that it deflates every nite and I end up waking up on a concrete floor. My ultimate dream would be to have a tempurpedic mattress but would settle for any kind of new bed I can not ask for one on freecycle because my parents are worried about bed bugs getting into their house are state has had a bad outbreak of them. I also REALLY need a LAWYER the only income I have is my daughters social security check and I have a LOT of debt and I need 2 file for bancruptcy since I see no other way of digging myself out of the hole. I also will need to find out if I am considered common law married and what I need to do to make sure I have custody of my daughter and her alcoholic father can't get her. If you have read this all the way to the finish Thank You!

Please help...looking for Angels from God

Posted by annah on 2011-06-06 05:58:47

I pray to God every day for help. I have no family except my elderly father who is on disability, and I cry on my makeshift mattress every night. Depression is taking over me, and I just don't know what to do anymore. I am writing this from a library computer...We are in so much debt from my mother's medical bills and funeral costs, we have lost everything and I am not able to work because I am caring for my father, and the government cut off my compassionate care benefits. I've done every thing imaginable to make money except becoming a prostitute of course, and I've exhausted my resources. We have no money for a caregiver, or medical expenses that the disability doesn't cover. When the money runs out after rent payment, we go hungry during the first week of the month.

Please, if there are any generous angel hearts out there that could possibly be a helping hand by God, please help us.

Thank you for your time

Give me a dollar!

I work for a volunteer organization that works in various communities around the world, with projects ranging from repairing choral reefs to rescuing abused animals to teaching children in 3rd World countries. We provide disaster relief, community-based infrastructure, and sustainability in places where poverty and need abound. This work is extremely rewarding--spiritually. However it pays nearly nothing, and in a year's time I've actually lost more money than I've made. At present I am stationed in a poor country town in southern Thailand, far from tourists and the thrumming world economy. Hence, I don't need a lot to get by.

If you donate just one dollar to me, it will pay for 4 days' worth of meals. 10 dollars will pay for a new mattress (the one I sleep on has a giant hole in it). You can still buy your Starbucks. All I'm asking for is your pocket change. Thanks for reading.

College Student About To Be Evicted

Posted by ashleymichelle on 2010-12-13 14:58:58

Hi everyone. My name is Ashley and I'm 20 years old. The past few months, I have been struggling to juggle the demands of going to school full time and working full time just to hardly get by. I have also been battling numerous health issues, including a recent hospitalization without health insurance for a MRSA infection, and then later a severe allergic reaction to the medication. I became depressed and hardly able to get out of bed in the morning. I was forced to withdraw from school so that I could work more hours to be able to maintain my apartment and keep my car. I sold my television, laptop (I'm posting this from the public library), cell phone, bed frame and mattress, and the small bit of jewelry I had acquired as gifts from family over the years.

My depression got so bad and I felt so alone that I switched to a new medication. Because of my age, I ended up having adverse effects that left me worse off than I was before. I am perpetually behind and received a notice that if I don't pay $500 in a week, I will be evicted from my apartment. I have nowhere to go, and I can't think of anything worse. I've already had to give up school (at least for right now. I fully intend on continuing my education), but I cannot just give up my home.

Please, please help me. I am young, scared, and just trying to get by. They say young people are the future, but society makes it so hard for us to survive. I am begging for someone to understand.

Needs help in South Central Pa

I am a cancer survivor with physical disabilities that prevent me from working and living a full life. I am trying to get my health back slowly after the radiation from the cancer treatment nearly destroyed my body and mind. I was forced to move into my mother's garage, where I barely have room to move around. There are so many things I desperately need that most people take for granted. I would deeply appreciate it if anyone could help me with the following:

A new or gently used mattress and box springs, extra firm

A new or gently used microwave preferably with a timer and a clock

Summer clothes size 22-24 or 26-28, winter clothes same sizes

Please contact Lynn at klam46@yahoo.com if you can help. Thank you in advance if you can help in any way and for taking the time to read this.
