College student about to be evicted with nowhere to go

Posted by jlm814 on 2012-05-15 21:58:11

I’m a 21 year old college senior double majoring in English and Mass Communication, and I need help.

I have been living on my own for two years and working very hard (and struggling) to make it. I pay my own car note, insurance, tuition, and every other bill associated with my living expenses. This month, my rent is late and my apartment manager has already filed a notice for eviction. However, she said if I can have it paid before I’m served the papers, I won’t be evicted.

I have nowhere to go if evicted (besides my car). My friends and family are unable to help because they do not have the financial means to do so. I have pawned everything that the pawn shops will accept and sold everything that I can.

I still need a little over $700 to pay my rent and the late fee.

Even the smallest bit helps.

Thank you so much for your time, consideration, and help.

help or a prayer will do.

hi im not sure how promising this website is but i guess we shall see. first off im not begging for money but i please ask that you add me to your prayer because i could sure use it. here is my story: I am 24 years old i have been working full time since i was 16 and had my own place the day i turned 18 my mom raised 3 kids all alone so she taught me to be independent when i turned 20 i was diagnoosed with Crohns disease i only had few flare ups and for the most part stayed in remission as of april 4 2012 my world has been turned upside down not only am i not in remission anymore but my body is rejecting medication which is resulting in me losing my intestines and having a colostimy bag for the rest of my life but the hospital ran a ct scan on me when i was in the hospital for a 3 1/2 week stay and found one large lump and 4 small lumps in my left breast and a large mass on my left ovary, at this point they arent concerned about the mass on my ovary but the large lump on my breast doesnt look good at all. i am now deeply depressed and just asking for a prayer i am home from the hospital now but i cant pay my bills or afford my medication all my bills are now past due and i havnt had meds in 2 days i dont know what i will do next ive applied for medicaid and awaiting my approval my dr adviced me to apply for disability which i did but it is a 3-6 month process on top of all these health problems i have, now i have all these bills that i look at over and over everyday i have never not been able to pay my bills and not been able to buy food and now i have nothing im negative in my account because my car insurance gets directly taken out... sorry so long guess i just needed to vent even if you cant spare one dollar please all i ask is for a prayer i never thought at age 24 i will be dealing with this but like my mother used to tell me "god will not give you what you cant handle" so please just keep me in mind when saying a prayer

Hello my name is Richard and I hurt my lower back at the gym. I was married and have 2 sons and I also had a house. Now after 4 years on Disability I am just getting by. 4 years ago I had to have a 3 level back fusion surgery, so I went into Boston to have it done and within months I knew something was wrong. So I went to PT and did what I was told after the about 9 months the Doctor said that the fusion was not healing so he had to go back in again. So this is number 2-3 level fusion surgery and when I got out of the Hospital I find out that my wife of 19 years was leaving me, so we go to court with the attorneys and get a Divorce and I lost my house and 2 sons, I had to move. At that time I had a nice house in Mass. So I just packed up what I had and moved to NH where I live now. Now as time went by my back was stilling doing no better, so I went to PT and then my Disability kicked in thank god because I had gone through my 401K by then just to keep a roof over my head and as luck would have it my back feel apart in other areas, so the Doctor said he needed to go in and fix it all now. So I had my 3-3 level back fusion in 3 years, so I went to PT were I hurt my knee and they had to do a total replacement, I asked myself when will this stop and I have thought about taking my own life. I went into some counseling and here it is 4 years later and my back has falling apart again, so I have to see the Doctor this month. It just sucks when you live in so much pain every day and people that have never hurt their backs have no Idea. So I am happy that I found this site because I cannot go out to the center of Manchester with a cup asking for any extra change. The Disability income only pays for about have my bills, just enough for a roof over my head. Then I have all the different medications that are not cheap, sometimes I fall into the Donut hole and cannot afford the medication so I ask my Doctor for any sample and he said they do not give out samples to the meds I have to take. So that is about it for me and my ex wife, well she married her boss who is a Dentist and they were having an affair for years. The other thing is I have tried to fine working from home jobs, like Data entry jobs but they all want you to pay something up front, which I never have so live goes on ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Wig for Alopecia Sufferer

Posted by Rosa on 2012-01-24 04:58:35

Hi, Im Rosa. Im 32, I work full time and live at home so that I can take care of my elderly parents. I have 2 jobs, 1 fulltime (as a secretary) and 1 part-time afterhours work cleaning offices. I believe that we are all responsible for taking care of ourselves and our families. Ive never done this before.

I am raising funds for a human hair natural wig specifically made for Alopecia sufferers. Its a specialty product and very expensive ($700-$900 start price). I am going for the graduated chin length bob style as the longer styles are so expensive.

Every dollar will go towards this, and every dollar counts, please dont feel your contribution wont matter. As someone who budgets my wage down to the last $25 dollars each week, every dollar counts.

I suffer from Alopecia which is unexplained hair loss. I have had this condition for 5 years and it has gradually gotten worse. I have cut my hair very short to minimise fallout, and been to countless doctors and tried every drug and product on the market – all without success. In fact I am paying off a $3000 credit card bill which I spent seeing every specialist I could.

I find going bald at my age humiliating and embarrassing. I work fulltime so its important that I look my best, but thats very hard when you have lost over 45% hair mass. Its inevitable that I will be completely bald except for the back zone which I will probably shave to wear the wig.

Please help me if you can. I sincerely appreciated it.

Rosa

I need a job, please!!!

X-MASS HELP

Posted by halfdome on 2011-11-09 10:58:02

Hello thank you for taking the time to listen to my situation. My name is Joe I am a 28 year old married father of 2 daughters. My oldest is 3 years old and my youngest is 7 months old. I was a call center worker for 12 years and did mostly sales, collections, and customer service.
About 2 years ago I started getting ill after moving into a apartment. I am a asthmatic and the 1st year after moving in to my apartment I got bronchitis 7 times, Pneumonia 2 times, 2 colds, 1 flu and mono. I quickly used up all my sick time and had also used up all my FLMA time. One day I had to go to the hospital from work and my employer fired me for it.
I filed for unemployment and won but my Pulmonologist
recommended that I find some other work then call center work due to my respiratory problems. I have a anxiety disorder and recently found out why. I was diagnosed with a hyperactive thyroid and I have a small cyst or growth on my thyroid gland. I started experiencing uncontrolled anxiety and fatigue. I went to counseling for the anxiety but it didn’t help much.
I recently moved out of the apartment that was possibly the cause of some of my respiratory problems because we found mold in the hallway outside of our apartment and believed it was in the building too. I have continued to become frequently ill and my fatigue, anxiety, and asthma are making it impossible for me to find a job. I can’t get disability for my asthma because my O2 levels are not low enough.
We moved into a doublewide manufactured home we bought this with a small settlement I received after a truck ran off the road and hit me when I was putting my then 2 year old into her car seat. I was injured but she luckily was ok. The other driver took off on foot. This happened this winter and even after that I have suffered extreme fatigue. Our old car was totaled out and the car we replaced it with turned out to be a lemon. In less than 3,000 miles it blew the transmission and the rear axel broke. It over heated, and we also replaced the battery, 2 pulleys, and the AC went out.

We spent over $4000 in the different repairs on the car and used all of the money from what we had left from the settlement we were going to use to replace the original roof of our house from 1988. Our roof has already had leaks and needs to be replaced

My wife is trying to find work but she has seizures and can’t drive. My wife has only had 2 jobs her whole life and is having a hard time finding work. Now we are in trouble because we have no income and bills keep coming. My parent’s just filed for bankruptcy and cant help us and my wife’s parents are unemployed.

We need help with our bills and to pay for our basic need’s
Our bills are as followed.
Lot Rent 410.00 per month
Water/trash/sewer $100.00 approximately per month.
Phone and internet for two cell phones $150.00 (my wife and 3 year old have seizures and need a cell phone).
Car and home owner insurance $154.00 per month.
Power bill between $100-$300 per month (I live in phoenix, AZ and it gets hot).
We also are paying $100.00 per month to pay the fee for breaking the lease at the apartment that was causing me to get sick so often. We still owe $1,100.00

To put a new roof on our house will cost about $4,000

I wish I never had medical problems so I didn’t have to ask for help. I ask you please if you can help us in any way it would mean so much to us.

WE NEED HELP TO HAVE A GOOD X-MASS

I don't know how to do this properly, but I will be honest.

My husband's teeth are really bad, he had his jaw broken 10 years ago and has since lost all of his top teeth and his bottoms are all broken. He has an infection in his jaw that could go to his heart but we can't afford to get his bottom teeth pulled. He is currently 20+ lbs underweight and malnourished. He also has a mass in his bladder that we can't afford to have biopsied, even though he has a referral.

We have no income because he is unable to work and I am disabled but still fighting Social Security for any assistance, with little success.

Neither of us use drugs or alcohol, though we do have a few friends that will smoke marijuana with us occasionally.

I try to donate plasma as often as I am able, but I have to go on days that my disability isn't apparent to them, so they don't ban me, as I, technically, can't afford the loss of white blood cells.

We have sold everything of value in our home and at this point we will be losing electric and internet on Wed, Sept 14th, 2011. My daughter is 18 but can't get a job due to the fact that we cannot afford the $10 to get a copy of her original birth certificate, so she cannot get an i.d.

We have no vehicle and take a rolling suitcase to the grocery when our foodstamps come, but due to bus fare, this is becoming increasingly difficult.

There are a lot of things that I, personally, need and go without, but I am genuinely most concerned with my husband and I growing old together, which won't happen if his health continues to decline. He is 39, I am 36, we have been together 16 years.

I don't know if this rant will do any good, but for the love of all that is holy, I hope someone, somewhere, sees it and feels compelled to investigate the reality of our situation.

Most sincerely,
Lori, Nick, and Brit
Hi. I cant believe I;m begging online. I expect no response to this, but view it as a place to vent. Good things just haven't happened to me for a long time. Here I go anyway... I am writing because I am in desperate need for help. I am a 35 year old single dad with a 9 year old daughter. Let me begin by explaining my situation. My former employer, in the building supply industry, went out of business a few years ago. The economy has not rebounded making building industry jobs scarce. I have since then put myself through schooling to become an emergency medical technician as I stand a chance at getting hired by my local fire department if the economy improves. I am aiming for a career change to get back into the work force. I had to change careers for economic as well as health reasons. Shortly after my company went out of business, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, a debilitating disease affecting the digestive tract. The disease caused me to lose 75 lbs (30% of my body mass) in 8 months. I have been proactive in drastically changing my diet and getting the proper medical care and medicine (Thank God for Medicaid).
Even with medical care, I am still sick every day but I am making the disease more manageable. I applied for disability and received a response back that my condition is indeed disabling, preventing me from working, but would resolve in a year. Hopefully it does, but it is classified as an incurable disease that leads to repeated surgeries in 75% of the patients diagnosed with the disease. On the flip side of that statistic is a growing hope that alternative therapies may work… but take time to custom tailor to the individual. They are also expensive and not covered by Medicaid or private sector insurance. I have spoken to a disability attorney who is ready to represent me if necessary. I am only seeking disability as my “Plan B” if all else fails. I want to become a productive member of society again. I do have a “Plan A”, but I have a LOT of obstacles ahead of me.
This has all had a devastating effect on my finances. Last summer my gas was turned off the day after my daughter’s heart surgery. The gas was turned back on based on medical necessity. As of this week, my gas is turned off again and LIHEAP cannot assist me. I can’t seem to ever have the “Timing” right to get assistance. My electric is also on the verge of being shut off. My home is in foreclosure but the bank has agreed to work with me if I can find employment fast. I have just received a job offer that I graciously accepted. I start in a week. Just before receiving the job offer, while biking with my daughter, I had a mini stroke which caused me to go unconscious while riding. I crashed, broke my ribs, clavicle, hurt my spine, bruised my brain and lung, received several stitches, etc.. I pray that my health stabilizes to allow me to work. My daughter lives with me in this house. I would like to save it from foreclosure mainly for her sake. It’s where she has grown up. It’s a few blocks from her school where I want to keep her. My adopted 9 year old daughter, who I love a lot, has a very difficult speech impediment and learning disability. She already has special education and speech therapy in place with professionals that have worked with her for many years and know her needs. It would be very difficult to have to move away and have to make her start over in another school. I love my daughter a lot and will do anything to provide for her a life that she deserves… with my own limited resources. I say all that to illustrate “in short” that I need help. I have asked relatives and friends for help throughout the year and they are “Tapped”. My church is also in the same situation. I have sold most of my possessions to afford my phone bill, auto insurance, and auto fuel. My daughter and I currently have Medicaid and SNAP food assistance.
My goals are to:
1) I need to rebuild my professional wardrobe. I have lost a lot of weight and consequently have been working on buying dress clothes for my new job. I am to wear solid black suits. I am a 44L with a 38” Waist and 34” Inseam. Size 14 Black oxford shoes. I will graciously accept presentable used items. I can buy 3 inexpensive nice black suits for $80 each. $50 for shoes.
2) I have to keep going to my doctors and maintain and improve my health. I have just been referred off for advanced level care. The travel expenses are going to be very high. I will have to stay overnight in a hotel somehow for some procedures.
3) I will have to afford to drive to work. I will have to keep myself insured and afford the initial cash outset for my first 2-3 weeks of work. I am traveling far to work and it will cost me about $125 a week in fuel. $60/ month in insurance.
4) I have to get my gas turned back on. I am looking at having to come up with an impossible $5000 to get it turned back on.
5) I just bought and installed an used electric water heater and dryer. I have no way as of yet to heat my house this winter.
6) I have to catch up on my $1500 electric bill. Hopefully I can do so or I will have to abandon my house and give up hope. I may have to move to a different state with different utility companies.
7) If I can accomplish the above goals in a short amount of time, I stand a very strong chance at getting my mortgage modified and staying in my home. I can then only have to worry about the basics of life in addition to my health and my daughter’s heart and special needs.
I am facing some tough challenges. I cannot do it on my own. I have nowhere to turn. I would appreciate any assistance or advice on where to go for assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I appreciate your help.

I have another chance... but desparately need help!!

Posted by pleasehelpme11 on 2011-03-05 14:58:04

Hey, ok, so seriously not trying to overpost here. I really just need some help and the situation keeps changing.
It's the same still that I need help with my rent and bills, but I now have a tiny extra chance to make it happen so I don't have to get evicted and ruin my credit and owe MORE than if I had just been able to stay. My 3 day demand notice came on the weekend, so they have to give me 3 business days.
Please someone have mercy on me!!! Help me cover this so I can avoid eviction! At this point because of a ton of fees and stuff they added on, if I am to save this situation, I need $1211... and that's just for the rent part. I could really, really, really use some help with my utilities, etc. too, but the rent is the one at crucial mass right now.

Please, I don't know what else to do. I have been unemployed for a really long time and have just run out of resources. All of February I have been very ill and not able to get out to do even little side jobs. I am so much better now, but will have to focus on getting moved instead of working if I have to get evicted.

Any help is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your consideration and follow-through.

ALMOST HOMELESS

I'm a 37 yr. old man with a family that includes me,my wife and 4yr. old daughter.I also have 2 daughters from my previous marriage that I pay support for and take every weekend.2010 was a year long downhill spiral for us.First I lost my job of 6 years due to a company shutdown.I was told of the closing the day it happened. We were already struggling to make ends meet and my wife had just started back to school at night for nursing. After going on unemployment my wife had to stop school to pick up more hours at work.We had to take our daughter out of daycare which meant she had to stay home with me which put me at a big disadvantage for looking for work. However,I can't tell you how many times I've taken her to put in applications and even on some interviews.Believe me,it does'nt help your chances of getting a job showing up with your 4yr. old to do an interview.I finally did get another job only to be laid off 3 weeks after I started. This meant I was'nt there long enough to apply for unemployment. This was over about a 7 month span in 2010 and over that time we fell further and further behind.Luckily I was able to work off a good bit of rent by doing work for our landlord at night after my wife was home.He had alot of properties and I'm a professional painter/handyman by trade. Then in August my landlord came to us and said he was selling the house and we had about 45 days to move.He also refused to help us financially in anyway to make the move and even kept our deposit stating,"I filed bankruptcy, sue me".We found a program that helped us secure another apt. and we moved within 30 days. After we moved in we found out the apt. was infested with mice, ants and other insects. The new place was a nightmare. We found out the young man living under us was physically abusing his girlfriend almost every night as we had to listen to this every night and my daughter witnessed several acts of abuse in the hall and driveway.Continuous phone calls to the property manager and police resulted in nothing being done. These two would break and smash things, yell, swear and slam doors that shook my whole house and broke things on my walls. After about our 5th call to police and the manager we woke up to 4 flats and all our windows broke on our car. Then another couple moved in across the hall from these 2 and this man was physically beating his girlfriend and doing drug deals in front of our house.3 days after they moved in our apt. was broken into and we had several things stolen, including every new toys and clothes we had been buying little by little for my daughters Christmas. It was'nt much, but it was all we had for her.Alot more went on there everyday and I knew we had to move but we had no money.I ended up posting an ad on craigslist and asking people for help and we found someone to let us move in with no deposit or anything. We were forced to move a week before Christmas.Christmas morning we had 3 presents for our daughter, all from toys for tots. Now we're in a new apt. with no way to pay the next months rent or much of anything else.My wife's hours were cut almost in half due to downsizing and cutbacks,I am unable to find work and I don't know what else to do.we don't even have a phone for potential employers to call.I use a free voice mailbox and then have to go to a payphone to return calls if I can find change. We've had to sell anything we had of value over the past 4 or 5 months to semi-survive.We have a car that someone donated to us and I was just told it needs about $2,000 worth of work.Neither my wife nor I have any family still living. We do receive foodstamps and are told that's all we're eligible for here in Mass.We also go to foodbanks every week.I actually tried panhandling 3 times and once I was arrested, another time I was beaten up and the last time I made $12.00 in 10 hours.I don't know what to do.It's gotten so bad the last two months me and my wife have discussed possible temporary(hopefully temporary),foster care for my daughter.I can't imagine losing my daughter for any period because we don't have any money for a place to live. It's tearing my heart out to have to write this.We are very good people. We've always worked hard, have never drank or used drugs and done our best to be good, honest people. We just need a little help.Anything anyone can give will help.Be it a dollar or two or even 50 cents.PLEASE HELP my family in anyway you can.May GOD bless and keep you all.

Funds Appeal for Urgent Brain Surgery

I am a jobless, crippled, single mom of two, in need of approx. $35,000 for an operation to remove a mass in my brain which has caused progressive loss of mental, neurological and physical function over the last two years. I have been crippled and had to undergo comprehensive rehabilitation therapy in order to be even able to stand. As of now, I am walking with the help of walking aids. Doctors say the decline is inevitable and will continue to progress unless the mass is removed. Doctors are able and willing to perform the operation.

I lost my job when I started ailing and the father of my kids left me when I got crippled. My parents are old and doing the best they can to help with the kids. I just need to get better so that I can go back to taking care of my kids like I did before. Please help me. The operation is scheduled for November 2010.

Whatever help we can get we shall be eternally grateful.

Thank you.

Trying to get my life moving... With a car

Your donations will go to: A used 2002 Ford Focus and/or maintenance and/or insurance costs

I am a college freshman pursuing a journalism major. I am trying to purchase my first car as a means to increase my availability for story assignments and paper production for the newspaper as well as my availability for my new job in which my hours are extremely limited (less than 7 a week).

I am very restricted in how I can assist on the paper, spend my time at school, and how often I can work seeing as I have to resort to scheduling around whenever I can get a ride to where I need to be. Lately, this has resulted in me having to leave up to an hour and a half early from class to be able to get home (I don't live anywhere near a bus line or mass transit system). If I can't be there to work on the paper I lose my chance at landing an editor's position and therefore any tuition waivers. If I consistently need to leave school early, my education will suffer. If my work hours are restricted due to car sharing/carpool arrangements, I won't have the financial means to make bill payments or save any money.

My parents have refused to assist me in buying a car and since I have gotten hired have severely cut down on how much they are willing to financially assist me despite knowing I have very limited hours at work.

I know I'm not the most needy person asking for donations and I am grateful for having a job but I feel that acquiring a car will greatly increase my educational and work potential which will yield in long-term benefits. Keep in mind what comes around goes around, give to someone and you will get something in return. I greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Can you help me? I need to raise money A.S.A.P. for my surgery in early October to remove a tumor mass within my stomach. My doctor has informed me that I need to have this surgery as soon as possible but I do not have enough money to cover the rest of its cost and after care expenses. That is why I am asking for help in the form of a donation that will help me cover some of the cost of my surgery and after care expenses. So far I have raised $1200 but I am still in need of help with raising money.
Can you help me?

Thank you for your donations, support and/prayers. God Bless You!

I am a single mother of 3 little girls ( 6 years, 3 years and 2 years old.) I say single because while I am married my husband had a stroke that has left him unable to assist me in any way 2 weeks ago. Maybe one day with lots of therapy he will regain himself. But for now all we can do is pray..... My story starts in January when my youngest woke up with a large mass on the side of her neck. It is a cyst that is scheduled to be removed in September. They drained it and have been trying to keep her well enough to undergo the surgery to remove it. She has been in and out of the hospital so much. I lost a job earlier this year because of all her medical issues. I am currently working 2 jobs. Raising my girls and caring for my husband. Our car is in need of major repairs so I can continue to go to work and keep all of our utilities on as well as keep a roof over our head. In the midst of all of this I have been battling keeping it running. Yes I should just replace it... but right now I can't afford that.

Yes I can manage the bills when they are not over due by myself. My husband was a contractor so there were many times I had to go it alone so to speak. But with all the other issues its impossible to dig my way out by myself. I have some health issues of my own and I am worried what will happen to my family if I keep up this pace. As well as what will happen to my family if I don't.
Our real needs are 1)please pray for my family we have had enough bad luck this year we simply can not take any more. 2) get our bills current. 3) repair or replace our car. 4) assistance with our overwhelming medical bills. anything you send will be greatly appreciated. With your help we can go on and have future filled with hope and promise. Because even the smallest gift can make a big difference. Thank you for your kindness. May God bless you and your family...
