Fiance is in Afghanistan and we need help affording a wedding.

Posted by Marinewife on 2012-02-27 19:58:37

My Fiance is in the infantry for the United States Marine Corps and is over in Afghanistan at the moment. Our wedding is May 5th 2012 and we do not have the money to afford a simple wedding. I have been trying to plan the wedding since he has left for war. I thought it would be a great and fun way to keep busy while he is away but I have found out that I am doing this all on my own. I am negative in my own a count and he is almost down to only $100. I work full time but it is only enough to get by with bills. The wedding is coming up very soon and I have yet to be able to afford his wedding band, the full amount of my dress, decorations, the invatations etc. He deserves an amazing day coming home from this deployment and I dont know how we will pay for this wedding let alone a little vacation/honeymoon together. I am feeling helpless and weddings should be fun and exciting to plan and I dont know what to do. My mother is willing to help with what she can but she has been sick for going on 12 years and has no way of income. Her teeth are rotting and falling out of her mouth because they keep denying her health benefits. She is the only one willing to help us with any dollar she has and she needs it herself. I hate to have to write this but sometimes you have to humble yourself when there is nowhere else to turn...

I Lived a Nightmare

Posted by startingover on 2012-01-14 20:58:35

I was married for 4 years to a person who had lied to me about his past and identity. He told me his wife before me was pregnant and killed by a drunk driver, he went to Texas A&M, and that he had earned medals serving as a marine. NONE of it was true. He deserted his first wife as he did me. He never went to college and he ordered medals off the internet. He used my SSN to open an AMEX card online and ran it up into thousands and thousands. I didn't know it existed. My father had to pay it to keep me out of serious trouble. He became physically and verbally violent. Pushed me out of a car on the interstate, held a gun to my head..scared me. I kept everything hidden from the world around me. Tried to keep up my appearance smiling. I tried to get him mental help but he only vanished on me. The divorce was exhausting. I am a first grade teacher, well respected in the community, and it took all I had to get up every morning for my children. I need some money to help me get back into life. Get on my feet. Afford some professional help to heal and move forward, forgive, forget, stop crying and fearing life and people, pay off debt...and to just lift all this burden and be happy again. I just want to be happy and stop crying every morning and night. I can't stand it anymore. I must move forward.

Hi, I hate to beg..its not my nature but I had menegitis and almost died guess it wasnt my time to go but I lost everything, my house my career as an electrician and my health. Im 48 and live in an apartment now but it is tough, I used to make decent money as an electrician but I had to stop and file disability...Now I live on that and I have a 9 year old son that doesnt want me to quit. I have a wife and she says it not about the money which is true,,,but I know she worries...we live in an environment where there are some pretty shady people and I hate having put us in this situation..10 years ago we owned our own house and I had a career but now we live in constant stress...we are from San Diego but moved to NC because I thought there may be work and I was a Marine here in the 1980s, I got sick soon after getting here and it has been very difficult. I dont want to take out a payday loan, I dont believe in that I would accept even a dollar from someone who could possibly help...I only want to help raise my son who is a great kid and is happy with what he has...I appreciate any help anyone can give...Dave

Veteran Needs Help

Posted by sboisvert180 on 2011-12-29 16:58:00

Marine Veteran and disabled needs help. My life could be a bestselling country song. I was an executive working very hard but suffered a divesting heart attack. Two, in fact. Tried to keep working but had no strength left. I was forced to retire. Also found out I had diabetes and didn’t even know it. To make matters worse I have foot neurophy and clogged arteries in both of my legs. Want to make it worse? I have two large kidney stones blocking my urine so I am forced to wear a bag on my hip until the stones can be removed. The VA will take them out but not until my blood sugar meets their stringent requirements.
To make a long story short I lost my job due to the heart attack, lost my beautiful home because I had no job (sold all my home contents first to try and raise money to keep it – failed), lost my great F150 truck, and even lost my dog. The only apartment we could get didn’t accept pets.
Thank God I am a Marine and learned to adapt and overcome. It has been three years but now I really need to ask for help. My wife and I have no insurance except what the VA offers (can't afford Medicare part B) and I already owe them $755 for co-pay on many medications. I have had to wait for a kidney stone operation for over a year now as they are booked solid for this type of operation. This operation, outside of the VA, cost approximately $1800. In addition I have numerous medical bills from my heart attack after care, diabetes and having numerous operations to remove two toes on my left foot. I sincerely want to pay these people as they deserve it but to do so I need help.
Please send whatever your heart will give. My wife and I will thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Need a break from AIDS

Posted by dobguy1 on 2011-12-26 11:58:05

Ive had AIDS for 6 years and HIV for 16. I had HIV for 16 years, did some stupid stuff in the 90s and caught it through hetero sex. It was my fault but I did do alot of good, I worked as an electrician for 13 years and a US Marine for 6. I am also a dad who hasnt flown the coop. I worked for 28 years and had to stop because I caught menegitis and almost died. This was from having AIDS. Ive done the best I could but its overwhelming. I my lost my home, my career and my self esteem due to this. I doubt anyone will donate because times are hard and the only people who see this site are probly people in need but I guess I might as well. I do paintings to help my cognitive skills and all I really want is someone to look at my paintings or donate a dollar or two. Thanx for looking Dave My paintings are at http://www.etsy.com/shop/DavesRecoveryArtwork

My son just got accepted into FUMA

Posted by frsno1 on 2011-12-23 13:58:37

This story is about my 13 year old son, Alejandro Jr. I will not be writing about anything that is sad or depressing, but about something that is wonderful and cause to celebrate. I am writing to share that my son has been accepted into the Fork Union Military Academy, located outside of Richmond, Virginia.

Me and my family are excited about this huge opportunity for my son. The road to get there was not easy however, but God answered our prayers. Alejandro Jr. has always been a very active child with an even more active imagination. As a baby, me and my wife would hear him play all night and could never sit still. During his elementary school days, his teachers would always remark how intelligent he was, but could just never sit still or not be a distraction to his class. What could I say, that is the way he was born.

But he went through elementary school on the honor roll each and every year he was there all the way through 6th grade. He was ready to go into middle school. When he entered into the 7th grade, things changed. There was a lot of bad influence and it started to affect my son because he has always been so innocent. His grades suffered, but he still scored in the top 97% of students in the end of the year state testing.

8th grade fared no better. He wasn’t the same anymore. He didn’t go to a good middle school. Lots of gangs and rumor has it drug dealing was going on there as well. His teachers didn’t care about him because he wasn’t doing the work, but he would still score 100 % on his quizzes and tests. His school wasn’t any help either. My son wasn’t being challenged, he knew the material, but he was not going to thrive in that environment, it seems he was getting harassed by his teachers and staff.

We wanted to remove him from that school as we had been fed up with the school district for a while now. We looked to see if there was an environment where he would thrive. After much research, we heard about the Fork Union Military Academy, which is an all boys military school. We took a look and my son loved it. This fits right in with his goal of joining the United States Marine Corps after high school.

We have been blessed that financial aid has covered roughly half of the tuition, but we are still in need of the other half, which is $10,000, which is due in 5 months. I am asking for any generous donation(s) that one may feel the need to contribute too. If you find it in your heart to do so, me and my family could not thank you enough and if you decide not to do so, thank you for your patience in reading about my son’s story. I wish a Happy Christmas to all.

I am 30 years old and a former Marine, having served from 2000-2004. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease shortly after. I have had 2 surgeries to have bad parts of my intestines removed in the passed 5 years. I have lately lost hours at work and have been without medications or doctor visits for 2 months which has been causing me to become more ill. I've already borrowed money from family and friends and have nowhere else to turn. Any amount of money will help me to buy food, medications, and copays to see my doctors. Thank you all, God bless, and Happy Holidays.

Active duty military, running out of options.

Posted by cdesha on 2011-11-27 23:58:11

Prior to joining the military I attended a relatively expensive college for 3 years. Now that I am an active duty Marine, I don't earn enough money to cover all of my bills and am draining my family's resources while I struggle to make ends meet. I have been doing as many side jobs as I can in my off-time but that is still not enough to cover everything as my loans total over $90k and my car is constantly breaking down and costing exorbitant amounts of money. Any and all donations are welcome and appreciated.

Deploying to Afghanistan. Need help making car payment.

Posted by Marine91 on 2011-07-01 21:58:12

Well I'm a 19 year old Marine who made a mistake of buying a first car without any help. I purchased the car without thinking of other bills I have. And now I am negative in my checking. I had to do a thousand dollar down payment in order to get the car and now I am getting ready to deploy and it will be even harder to deal with this in Afghanistan. Once I get this down payment out of the way I will be on my feet again. I learned my lesson and definitely will never make this avoidable mistake ever again.

husband needs dental work

My husband is in need of dental work. He lost his medical benifits as a Merchant marine when they were taken away. He is on total ss disability and adult medicaid but neither will pay for dental. He has pulled most of his teeth himself but the last four need to be surgically removed and his gums scraped and then he would like so new teeth. He is 5'11" and his weight is 135. It is hard for him to eat to gain weight. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance for your support.

We need help.....today.

Ya know I didn't realize that such a site was available until 10 minutes ago.some hope has been thrown my way and I thank you for that.Today is the day.I will be standing in front of my landlord at some point on this day and although my situation is real and understanding,I'll be honest and say that if I was my landlord I wouldn't want to be hearing these words.Name is Jeff.I was involved in an auto accident on May 23,2011.Rolled my SUV on my way to work in San Antonio,TX.Bout 6 1/2 hours from my home.Don't know what happened. Can't remember.Broken ribs, punctured lung, cracked spine they say. Finally was able to get out of bed 2 days ago. Can't use my left arm very well which is a big problem as my job is a real hands on activity.I work outage repairs at power plants.Would love to get back to work but reality has made me see that getting back in the game is going to be an experience that I have not been through before.I served 6 years in the Marine Corps and have been bullet proof everyday since bootcamp.Or so I thought I was.My employer offered to put me on lay off status which would help in getting unemployment benefits but the rules say you have to be physically able to go to work when offered employment. That's out.I have applied for temporary disability through the social security office but the fact that it is government which makes it a little slow, sounds to me to have any chance of qualifying for disability you have to be 100% down and from now until retirement age. That is when disability ends and old age begins. Also I think I can say without a doubt that a check from those people won't be here today.I have been married to a really wonderful lady for 25 years and she is helping with all she has got but it just won't make it.On top of her efforts she and I also have two boys.13 and 6.Working when she can, taking care of me and the boys is really putting her to the test but she's doing it.Just not enough for her to make the difference.I'm going on too much I'm thinking so here it is.$2000.00 would get us through today and several more.I really hate this believe it. but this is where we are right now.Really needing some help.Thank's for your time.

2nd Chance A Charm

Posted by Aelek on 2011-05-04 14:58:34

Hello, I have just recently medically retired from the Marine Corps after 13 years of faithful service. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend. However lately, with all the changes I have had to endure, I have felt invisible. I injured my back during martial arts training and didnt seek the medical attention I needed until it was too late. I had even gotten to half way of my Marine Corps Marathon training but had to stop due to numbness and tingling in the feet. Once I finally did try to get the medical attention I needed, I was told I had a somatoform disorder, which means the pain is all in my head and not in my body at all. After seeing a Navy shrink I was told I had a personality disorder and he submitted a Administrative discharge request to my Commanding Officer, I was devastated. I loved the Marine Corps and everything that came with it. I had no intentions of leaving it and only wanted to get better and seek proper care. Instead of getting the help I needed medically, I had to fight to keep my career and lively hood. After further tests, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, a pinched nerve, carpal tunnel in both wrists and buldging discs. I had to be seperated medically. Depression is not even close to the word to describe what I fell into. My goal-dream was to be a Drill Instuctor, fight a good fight over seas and put in 20 years. In the blink of an eye it was all gone. Now I had to let go of my aspirations of what could have been and now try to figure out what I was good for now. A little bit about my self:I was raised in Austin, Texas by my maternal grandparents, left by my biological mother at 15 days old on Christmas Day 1975. I endured a strict upbringing and borderline abuse, much due to my grandmother’s fear of becoming my "mothers, daughter". I have never known who my father is and doubt he knows I even exist. I had been the witness and the victim of neglect and child abuse by my mother who was and is still heavily into alcohol and drugs. She had two more daughters in which I helped raise up until they were left in another state with relatives. It was then that I left to the Marine Corps at the age of 19, mostly to find myself and forget myself. During one tour in California, I was made aware that one of my sisters, 7 years my junior, was in need of my help due to abuse from the relative she was left with. An uncle who had abused her from the age of 6 until she was 12. I took emergency leave and went to get her, I already married with a newborn, and I knew I had to lend a hand and help. The abuse and trauma was too severe and the state of California took custody of her after a failed suicide attempt in her high school. I continued my military service until I received yet another call, this time for my youngest sister, 12 years my junior, was in states custody and if I could provide a stable home for her. I was now a single mother of a 4 year old and still an active duty Marine, but again, could not turn my back on the need she had. I put in the time and the effort, attending family counseling 5hours away and meeting with doctors and lawyers to get the process started to get her into a stable situation. Finally at the age of 14 she was placed with me and I was granted custody. I enrolled her in to high school and away we went onward and upward in our life. It was not close to "traditional" but we had each other and that was more than what most have. I received orders to Japan for 3 years accompanied and although I had reservations about the huge change I took it in stride. I had pleaded my case to the Marines about staying until my sister graduated in 2years but at the need of the Corps I was sent anyway. In Japan, after only being there for about 6months, my sister started to self mutilate again. With that the military sent me back to my previous base and committed her to a hospital immediately. After a 30 day stay and with support and guidance she eventually got to a place where she could receive the help she needed to heal. She graduated from high school and is now in the medical field working full time and engaged. After that chapter closed the new one with my medical mishaps in the Corps started full force. I am not one to really get or ask for help, and have been in the business of giving but I am hoping now in the oddest of places, maybe I can, with my story inspire someone to pay it forward and lend a hand. I thank any donation and appreciate any amounts. I am trying to start my own resale shop online and hope with some assistance I can get to a better place in my life as sometimes the future seems real dim. Thank you in advance and God bless.

~PLEASE help me see my Marine husband!!~

Posted by stargazrkat87 on 2011-03-28 22:58:52

My husband recently graduated from boot camp and became a Marine. I was able to spend a week with him and we got married during that week (it was a small wedding by the Justice of the Peace, to ensure we get stationed together when he's done schooling). I have only seen him one week out of our marriage so far, and his schooling was just bumped back and won't begin for a while. He doesn't have a date yet on when it will start. It is very possible I won't see him until October, because he's being told it is very possible that he won't even start school until the end of August. He's not allowed to leave base or come home, nor can he afford it. I'd REALLY REALLY like to go visit him over Easter for a few days, and the Marines DO allow that. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a job (and I'm actively applying on a daily basis). I can't afford to go see him right now, we're barely making enough from him to pay the bills. I'm still living with my parents because we are waiting to be stationed together. My parents are unable to afford the entire thing and can only help a little bit, because my mom has to travel for work and my dad retired early due to serious health issues. Please, please help me. I need to get the plane ticket soon if I want to keep the cost of it down, I'm talking within a week, two at the most.

If you've ever been away from your spouse, willingly or unwillingly, for long periods of time, you have to know how hard this is for me. Please help me surprise him by being able to afford this. I've never begged before, so this is all new to me, but this is something I really really want to do and it would mean the world to me.

He is currently stationed at the base I was born on. My mother and father were Marines as well. It is on my bucketlist to see this base, whether he's there or not. I haven't been there since I was 3, and I feel it's important to get back to your roots. :)

Even if a dollar is all you can afford to donate, it's one more dollar than I have right now. I still need about $400 to make this possible. He might even be deployed right out of school, they won't tell us until a few weeks before his school ends. Then I REALLY won't see him for a long time. This may be my last chance. Please help me see my husband. He is my best friend and I don't feel complete without him.

Anything you can give is more appreciated than you'll ever know.

Thank you so much and may God Bless you!!

We would love to be able to get pregnant b4 then, one problem...$6-$8,000 for the surgery and my dance instructor part time job combined with military income is not allowing us the money to set aside to have that amount in the next 6 wks.......is there a miracle out there?

Begging for a little sanity

I am married to a wonderful man. He is an honorably discharged US Marine. While he was deployed in Iraq I had means to do pretty much as I pleased. We married after he returned from his second deployment and 6 months later I had a major stroke. My husband's CO immediately granted him emergency leave and had the company buy me some flowers. I am grateful for all the love that surrounded me at that time.

My in laws have struggled all their lives to provide for themselves. My husband has told me many times that he will not see his mother homeless. We have been living with them for 3 years now. It's getting old. My husband is supporting 4 adults on a bus driver's income. I have my own projects that I want to do and no money to accomplish any of it. My body cannot withstand the rigors of physical labor. I can stand without pain for minutes at a time now. A broken body does not mean a broken mind...
I just want to feel useful again and get away from my in laws.
Please help any way you can. Thanks!
