Help Bring Dog Scouts to the UK!
Posted by shootingstardsa on 2012-05-07 21:58:25
Positive "Pet Parenting" is the main goal of the Dog Scouts of America. Troops have and are still forming all across the US and there has been a significant decrease in the amount of dogs being given up to the pound as unwanted or untrainable. With the success of DSA Troops in the US, DSA Troop 188 has selected a pet parent/Dog Scout team to go to the UK. An AP article published in The Day Newspaper of New London, CT and Norwich Bulletin, Norwich, CT has received many many viewings in the UK. The article can be found at: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/dog-scouts-america-troops-22-states-16064429
.
DSA Troop 188 wants to act now to capture the attention and passion of the UK dog owners and dog lovers. DSA Troop 188 has already been in touch with dog clubs in the UK that wish to partner with the team when they arrive to facilitate the DSA Troops formations.
DSA Troop 188 needs $5,000 USD in order to sent the ambassadorial team over. This covers the settlement costs for both the human and the Dog Scout and transport fees.
Won't you please help fellow dog lovers, dog owners and the dogs and help reduce the amount of dogs in pounds? Any little bit you can give will help tremendously. Thank you in advance for your support, you/your company will be mentioned in the Troop newsletter and on here.
Dog's lives are short enough, let's do all we can to help them enjoy their time with us.

CAT SANCTUARY NEEDS HELP
Posted by animallover on 2012-02-28 21:58:24
I have been fostering feral cats in my rented home for about a year. They are desperately hungry pitiful creatures and I provide them with food, beds, blankets and shelters on the property. Now my landlord has decided he wants to sell the home and refuses to renew the lease. We are hoping to raise enough money to be able to buy the house and stay in the home. If we have to leave the property then these poor creatures will be lost and abandoned once again. We have been able to bring in some of the kittens but most of them are ferals and they are not adoptable. Their only hope for survival is to continue to come to us for food and shelter. We spend all the spare money we have to feed them and we just do not have the funds to put a down payment on the house. These cats have come to view the home as a place to eat and sleep and feel safe. So much so that one of them was out and got hit by a car. In the middle of the night with a broken hip she managed to crawl her way back to our house where we are currently nursing her back to health. We feel so guilty abandoning them since they have come to depend on our sanctury and wil be lost and miserable if we move. Please please I appeal to all you animal lovers to help us raise enough money to buy the home and take care of these precious creatures who have been completely abandoned to the world. We are their only salvation. Please help our time is very limited.
Feeling defeated and need help!

Hello, I am a 45 year old single mom of 2 boys, 20 and 16 years. My oldest is a type 1 diabetic on insulin for 16 years and recently celiac disease. He has not had controlled blood sugars for years and has had difficulty finding and keeping a job as he rarely feels well. He was just released from the hospital a week ago due as he went into DKA which has now pushed back his hopes of finding a job and getting out on his own, My 16 year old suffers with bipolar disorder and has had a really rough time trying to deal with not only financial issues, but his brothers illness. I have always worked, but seems I can't get even much less ahead, now my employer has cut my hours to nearly half, I am very close to foreclosure and have never really been to the point I am having a hard time just going to the grocery. I know this will sound silly, but I am wanting to go to school for dog grooming. We are all dog lovers and I have seen just how much having a dog can lift your spirits, help with self esteem and make your life better. However, I simply can't afford to go and hoping someone out there can find it in their heart to help me do this and hopefully include my sons to start a business of my own grooming dogs. I would need $1500 for all tuition and supplies. But would greatly appreciate anything given toward this goal. Thank you for your time and have a blessed day!

Dog needs cancer surgery

I've been putting this off, but my dog now has scabs over her entire body and the tumors are out of control. One is the size of a baseball (left rear leg).
I can't stand to see her limp and be in pain.
Please, help pay for her surgery. I will be taking her to the St. Charles VET hospital (St. Charles, MO).
Jackson is a female, 7 year old Beagle/Labrador mix and needs your help.
Please, help me pay for her much needed surgery!
Thank you to all the dog lovers that understand!

Lost my husband, lost my house, please do not let me lose my dog!

Help me keep my Rottweiler. She was a gift from my husband who passed away in 2006. I've been disabled since 2005 due to a musculoskeletal illness, so when my husband passed we lost our home to foreclosure and had to move in with my parents, one of whom is disabled and both are in their 70's. Now they are facing foreclosure since my father lost his job last summer.
Our dilema is that insurance companies have prevented us from renting since they will not insure rental properties with tenants that have dogs on the "dangerous breed list". Liberty is not a vicious or aggressive dog in any way, she is friendly to everyone.
Our only option is to buy a house. We have $3,000 of the downpayment saved. We need to raise at least another $9,000 to be able to put down the 20% required for investor financing to keep the transaction legal. A family member has agreed to purchase a home for us, since our credit has been damaged due to the foreclosures and sell the home back to us at cost.
We are looking for an inexpensive foreclosure that suits our needs and budget. Whatever you can give would be a blessing to Liberty, myself, and my parents who I now take care of. Please don't let me lose my Gal Pal now after everything we've been through since 2006. I know some of you have also experienced this problem of breed discrimination, so any monies raised over what we need will go to www.Roverlution.org to help fight breed discrimination. Thank you for all your help and please pass this on to other dog lovers you know.

The vet bills are over 500 bucks between xrays, medicine, and everything else, I don't have that type of money so if any animal lovers out there can help me out even a little bit, any donations to the Stormy fund would be greatly appreciated, even if it's only 5 bucks or less, whatever you can do, every dollar counts! Please send any donations if you can, if you want pictures of my rabbit in his cast for proof, feel free to email me at dakotadarkhorse@gmail.com and I will email you pics for proof. Thanks for all your help! Great karma will be coming your way!

Dear All,
For the past 1 year, Dar has been under a lot of stress and pressure from her work, husband, in laws and parent. Most of her issue comes from her debts from her overdue credit cards bills. Well, if you read on Our Story, you will know what happens to us. I am doing my best to help her with some of her repayment, but I canât help much either. It really pains me to see the one you love going through all this herself. And this makes me feels very useless.
I have no choice but to use this for help. Seeking all kind lovers who can feels what Dar & I went through, to donate or buy from us a photo of which I have taken during our trip together. Please visit http://younmeforever.wordpress.com/

I LOVE SUCKERS!
Posted by startingvover on 2011-02-13 17:58:58
No, I don't think you are a sucker, but I AM trying to start up a confectionary business selling the best suckers ever made! My suckers are funky little designs, thick with outrageously great flavors, and everyone that tastes them raves on with how awesome they are.
Rootbeeralicious, CottonyCandy, Hotlanta!, LatteLove. Just a few of my superlicious addictive flavors.
This is all part of my "dumped by my huband at age 56" starting over strategy. I WANT success. I WANT to make candy lovers ecstatically happy by offering this ONESHOT dessert. And, just to tease you a little bit more, I am working on something called "Cake on a Stick". Don't want a whole peice of cake but craving some sugary sweetness, a little icing, some chocolate and the happiness of cake? I've got it! ToffeeCoffee, StrawberryMint, ChocoRocks, and a bunch of special ocassion creations that will knock your socks off!
Taste tests have proven that my flavors rock and customers will pay premium just to get one. People already contact me thoughout the whole year to beg me to make them. And Christmas?? I can't keep enough coming out of the kitchen. No more hobby for me! I'm ready for business.
Let's get started! As an investor, I'll send you a special edition personalized sucker all for you! Might even name one exclusively in your honor!
Come on! Take a chance and be a SUCKER for my SUCKERS!

Hi all! I work @ a veterinary clinic in Oklahoma City, and see tons and tons of animals "down on their luck" . All of us animal lovers wish we could help them all but know that we can't. Our shelter here is NOT a no-kill shelter yet... Hopefully soon. We have a few animal sanctuarys, but they are always full. :-( -- I would like to initiate a transport/foster system and would love anyones help. Thank you for reading my post!
For bird lovers only!

Every Boy Should Have a Dog

http://www.project-puppy.com/
For a loooooong time, Ive wanted to adopt a puppy. We couldnt have one when I was a kid (allergies, parents, etc.), then for a long time I lived in the city. I know, I know, there are plenty of city dogs and its quite possible to give them wonderful lives, but I just wasnt sure my lifestyle would allow for that. Personally, for my ambition as a dog caretaker, I resolved not to seriously entertain bringing home a canine companion until I had a fenced yard that he could enjoy and relax in without being leashed or strictly supervised. Just under two years ago, I moved into my very first house, with a great big yard and a nice tall fence. Perfect, right?
Seemingly, yes. At first, the house needed a lot of work. The previous occupants had kept dogs, but were not terribly responsible about it. So, there was a lot of rehabbing to be done to floors, walls, woodwork and carpet. I really wanted to bring a puppy home, but I had to do it right. Have the infrastructure and resources all in place, really set us up for success, yknow? The plan was to adopt near the beginning of summer vacation (Im a teacher), so wed have plenty of time to bond, and train, and acclimate and play and socialize and... you get the picture. Things were looking good, and then... I lost my job.
Again, not wanting to leave the door open for failure, Project Puppy had to be postponed. I have a second (and now a third... and half a fourth) job, and some savings and other resources, so its not like Im in real danger of becoming homeless. BUT, taking on additional, non-elective expenses right now wouldnt be fiscally responsible. Unless, of course, I have help; thats where you come in.
It occurs to me, that oftentimes in the community of dog lovers, that when someone has a litter or finds a stray or has to move, and looks to place their pooch in a home rather than abandon them to a shelter, they reach out to their networks of friends and fellow-dog-lovers. So often Ive overheard the phrase, Ohhh, Id love to, but... dont have the space/money/time for another dog, the wife/husband/landlord would kill me, Ill ask around... I know that many donate generously to the ASPCA and various rescue organizations, on top of whatever is spent providing furry friends with toys and treats galore. I thought that perhaps, some of these dog lovers who have already filled their own homes to capacity with paws and leashes, might be willing to contribute to keeping at least one pup out of the system and in a comfortable home; and Project Puppy was born.
If youve got the dime, Ive got the time. The house is in order, the backyard is all set, Ive done a fair amount of research and dogsitting. Ive got a small network of dog-friends to socialize with and a reliable de facto sitter if I should ever need to travel out of town. The last missing piece is the available fundage to provide food, equipment, vet care, etc. I figure if I can scrape together $1000, that should be adequate for a years worth of normal care. Maybe a little more, considering the initial outlay of bowls and a leash and a bed. If you support the cause, and care to throw a dollar or two in the pot, Ill squirrel these funds away specifically for this purpose, and every little bit helps. Like child support, except this child is kinda hairy and has really harsh breath and I will never ask you for a paternity test. If you cant afford to donate, but know someone who would, maybe youll forward them a link so they can come read?
Thats about as far as Ive thought this web plea through. My owner taught me not to beg, but Ive a feeling that if enough people just read this site, I wont need to. Ill keep the site updated with how close we are to the goal, and hopefully once we succeed, pictures/videos/updates on the little guys progress. Thanks for your time, and your generosity!

My name is Anne and I am asking for donations to SAVER, Inc., which is an equine rescue charity. To feed a horse per month it costs about $130, and right now we have 4 horses. As you can see, horse feed is costing $512 every month which is coming out of our pockets. Our only income is my husband's disability, and I have to stay home with him otherwise I would be looking for work. In our area there is very high unemployment so I am out of luck trying to get local businesses and individuals to donate. I am advertising on this website because it has a larger audience, and hopefully there are many horse lovers out there that can help us out. I will provide a tax receipt for next year. Thank you so much for your consideration. My email address is aawidner@gmail.com

Hi Our organization is helping a a small group of feral cat caretakers. They have been feeding and caring for a colony of 150 cat living on county property for 40 yrs.
The county now wants to rebuild and demo the abandoned building the cats have lived in for generations. They have been battling them since last year to keep the cats there but it seems They have lost the battle. For now the county has given them until June of this yr 2009 to remove the cats.
We found and checked out a great cat sanctuary in Fresno that will take the cats. We have taken 9 cats up there paid for out of our own pockets. It cost $2000 per cat to live there for the rest of thier life or sponsor them for $30 a month.
If you go to www.firstgiving.com/dharmarescue4theranchocats you will get all the info and can donate. Some of the cats will go to homes that will care for them outside but there are not enough places or coyote free barns to put these cats so many will hopefully get lucky and can to the sanctuary.
I hope there are animal lovers out there and can understand our desperate need to get the funds to save these cats. They have lived their lives peacefully and caused no harm to anyone for genertions.
They deserve a safe place to live.
