Community Building

Posted by baumanrdmbc on 2012-05-23 15:58:56

We are currently finishing construction on a 2.7 million dollar building that will be used as a community center here in Houston to assist with underpriveliged children, to assist in outreach to other homeless individuals,to function as a auxillary primary school, and to assist as we are able with other community needs. Through generous donations from our neighbors, we have built the entire external structure (approx 1.44 million) leaving only a little more than 1 million dollars left to complete the construction. This is a near and dear thing to my heart, as it's location in Northside houston in a impoverished community would mean so much to helping others in and around the houston area. This community building is sponsored by a local church, which has donated the first several hundred thousand dollars, and we are looking to complete it by November of this year, IF possible. All donors (if they ask) will be given a tax receipt for thier donation, as the organization is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit corporation. Please feel free to email if you have any further questions, and God bless you for your generous giving to this end, so we may better help people who are struggling in life.

About to be evicted.. Please help!!

Posted by Jenro211 on 2012-05-16 09:58:56

I was laid off from my job a couple years ago in that time frame I was collecting unemployment and return back to school. In the midst of everything I separated from my live in boyfriend at the time and found myself in a jam. I seek help frm social service for housing and everything was going according to plan, I found a location who agreed to take me in with state assistance rent. I moved in with the landlord permission and assumption that she would be paid accordingly;however, because I was finally blesse with a reliable job the state ended up not persuing what was said and never paid the landlord... When the landlord advise me of this I immediately seeked answers. Social service said basically I have a job. Could pay and so I did, Ive paid my rent every month but now landlord wants to evict me for the amount owed from social service I've done everything possible to work something out with the landlord and nothing. I have no place to go and I am a single mother and can't afford in one sum what the landlord is seeking, Im asking for any financial assistance, donation ANYTHING to come up with the amount of $3,500 ASAP... Before being evicted. Thank you in advance and god bless.

Help w/ Travel Expenses to my Mum's 60th Birthday

Posted by sprinxrm on 2012-04-25 14:58:03

This year is my Mum's 60th Birthday and I really, really want to be with her to celebrate it - in person.
But about 10,000 miles separate us. She lives in Nebo, Australia and I live in Wisconsin Dells, WI of the U.S of A and I don't have the funds to travel there. It's been over 20 years since I've celebrated a birthday with her, together in the same location.
My Mum knows I don't have any money so I know she will be super surprised to see me instead of just the getting a phone call on the day.
Having to ask for money is very uncomfortable for me but I need to see my Mum. Currently I only have a part-time job and in debt from living on my credit cards and I'm trying so hard not to get further in debt.
So, thank you for taking the time to read my request and I appreciate any help you could spare.
Thank you and no offering is too small.

Air Conditioner Repair So I Can Get To My Medical Visits

Posted by steph68461 on 2012-03-16 18:58:40

Greetings,

My name is Stephanie. Following the death of both my parents in a car accident 5 years ago August my health has been in a steady decline. I suffer from neurological issues that will soon have me in a wheelchair, and advanced COPD that means I have to have Oxygen continuously. Yesterday I had to go the doctors in 85 degree heat without any air conditioning in my van. By the time I got to the medical center and tried to find this new doctors location I ended up collapsing twice between the walking and breathing. I weigh 83 pounds at 5'5" and I can't carry the oxygen with me when I have to exit the vehicle. Ultimately I ended up in the emergency room.

I live with my daughter and grandson of 6 years. My grandson was in the car when my parents were killed and suffered a major brain injury at 13 months. I'm happy to report though that after months of hospitalization he is right as rain and is mad at me currently ;o) because I'm on my computer which he adores playing with. My daughter suffers from PTSD since the accident my parents were killed in. She cannot drive without someone in the car and she was going to go with me yesterday but the heat was so bad that we were concerned about Gavin in the back in my black 1994 Ford Astro van. It was just way too hot for him and with her PTSD we HAVE to go through town to get anywhere or she will lose it so there would not have been any steady air flow.

It's been a long 5 years. My parents and I jointly owned a duplex. Their deaths were the beginning of the most miserable time of my life. When I divorced it was jointly decided that it would better if I lived in the upstairs apartment so they could be there for the kids while I worked. Over 16 years we became so close that their deaths nearly destroyed me. I paid for the last 15 years on the note of the house, my buy in and we all lived there incredibly content and happy. My parents were my best friends.

After their deaths during the mortgage meltdown, credit locks, and the economic fallout my career of 16 years was one of the first to go. I worked in the non-profit sector designing programming for inner-city communities with a specific focus on youth. So 8 months after their deaths the funding streams I used for the programming dried up and a job I loved disappeared.

Life insurance was enough to cover their debt with a little left over because they didn't carry much but in the end I lost my home of 16 years to the insurance company that covered my daughters son through work when they filed a $ 90,000.00 lien against my home. So 7 months after losing my job I also lost a home I loved. So I experienced 3 deaths within the span of a little over a year.

Because I was unemployed so long and had to use my cards to keep the lights on so to speak my credit is not good. So I can't borrow the funds or even charge a repair for the car.

I can no longer go to doctors visits alone. I'm too weak to walk very far without help and I can't carry the oxygen canister on my own. So I need my daughter for these visits.

Like anyone with severe health issues I'm buried in bills but what I really need help on is funds that will me to fix the air conditioning in my van which despite it's age runs like a champ. I have a physicians assistant who comes into my home to work with my but getting to the specialists has become real concern.

My daughter even with her PTSD has reached a point where she doesn't want me going alone. I was supposed to call her when I reached the doctors the other day when I collapsed the 2nd time and they took me to the specialists office I asked the receptionist to call my daughter. She didn't and she left my daughter terrified that something horrible had happened to me. I don't carry a cell I can't afford one. My daughter was getting better about both driving and me driving myself; because of this receptionist my daughter has now had a huge set back. I have to see that doctor again next week and I can't take them without air conditioning so what I'm going to have to do is make sure I find someone that sit with my daughter while I'm gone to help keep her anxiety level low. I don't have any choice I have to get there. I won't have anyone to carry my oxygen but I'm hoping I can in there.

Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated. I am more than happy to pay it forward as soon as I can. I have been a lifelong contributor to various causes and I know people are in dire straights right now. We all need help in one form or another. I would never ask if I could do this myself. Please forgive me.

If you would like to know more about the accident and my Grandson and his Grandmother who after losing her home and moving into a 3rd floor apartment made a terrible mistake in her depressed state go to http://ontheirway.vanderbiltchildrens.org/?article=7511 this a feature story Vanderbilt Children's Hospital did in their print and web magazine.
I'll try to keep this short and sweet.
I'm 20 years old, working as an operator at a machine shop just a few miles from my current apartment.
About a month ago, the president of our company announced that they were going to be moving the shop in a few months. He did not, however, mention that this would cause a lot of us to lose hours due to a lack of received work orders for our CURRENT location.
I already had a couple of outstanding loans from before things went south at work. Just a couple of hundred dollars for electricity or rent that I figured I could pay back quickly taking the shops pay rate into account. However, now that I've been going without more than 10 hours of work a week for almost three weeks paying my loans back is becoming more of a game of trying to scrape together my minimum payment amount while also somehow managing rent, bills, and food money. I've gotten to the point where I'm eating about a meal a day and spending as little time in my apartment as possible to cut back on water and electricity expenses.
The real kicker of this whole situation is that my lease will be expiring 3/19/2012, and I need to manage to get a new apartment before then. With the two outstanding loans, moving expenses, leasing deposits and application fees...well, it's starting to look like I might be living under a bridge next month...
Most people my age would turn to there parents for help, but I don't really have any such luck. Both of my parents just kind of jumped ship as soon as I graduated High School. Last I heard from mom she was using meth, and Dad isn't faring much better...
Please, help me avoid homelessness and give what you can so I can manage a standard, stable adult life.

Would like to reopen store after being closed from building sale

Posted by ShaZakLar on 2012-02-28 17:58:31

Hello, I'm 24 years old. Last summer I opened up a consignment shop in my town. I put pretty much all my money and savings into opening up my store, money I worked hard to raise for it, and lots and lots of time and hard work. Well after 5 1/2 months of being open, my landlord sold the building out from under me and I had to close! All of my hard work and money was gone. I now have a hard time paying bills and owe a few people money yet. I am hoping to reopen my store in a new location this spring, but obviously I do not have the funds to reopen at this time. I want to do things right this time and I would like to purchase a point of sale system to keep track of all my sales and consignors. I would probably have about $6000-7000 in start up costs to reopen to pay for deposits, rent, insurance, supplies, computer system, security system, more shelving, possibly credit card equipment and services, hopefully some more inventory of my own, and any other unexpected costs that may arise, and I need enough money to sustain myself incase I don't make enough money to pay my rent, utilities, & other bills at first. This has been a dream of mine for a long time.. and I finally was able to make it happen last summer but had it taken away from me by my landlord and new owner of the building I was renting. Anything would help! thanks!

In need of help

My husband and i have hit some hard times recently. We have been together for 7 years but only got married last august and we have 2 young children togetherFirst we got behind on rent which we have been trying so hard to pay back then my husband lost his car (which he needs to get to and from work) due not being able to make finace payments so we had to buy a cheaper car outright in cash which put us behind even further with household bills. We also have been wanting to move for a long while now because ideally we've been longing for a 3 bed house and so that my husband doesn't have to travel so far for work, therefore saving money on fuel. We started applying with local authority housing associations and hve now been offered a 3 bed house in an ideal location. The only problem is we have to move in two weeks and we have to give four weeks notice for leaving our current home and so rent will over lap for 2 weeks which is all we need with already owing rent we need to carpett it in most rooms (taking what carpet we can from current home) and now my husband has informed me that the MOT on his car is going to cast way more than expected. Any help at all would be greatly recieved

"Soul" Food Kitchen

Posted by MacK on 2012-02-06 11:58:26

I am asking for prayers. I would absolutely LOVE to open a charity or "pay-what-you-can" diner for people who need help. The idea would be to have a benefactor or benefactors who would support the diner, then, once a week, or as often as financing allowed, I could open to the public, including the homeless and those who just need and encouraging home-cooked meal. It would be an honor system. Buffet style meal, pay what you can, after dinner, clean up your table and load your dishes in the dishwasher. Stick around and play games, watch TV, help with KP, whatever. If you like this idea, please send me encouragement, prayers, and positive energies. If you REALLY like it, and want to help finance it, just let me know. If there is enough financing available, I could start looking for a location and have Sunday dinner ready for you all to join me and my family. Thanks!

Single father needs help!!

Hi I am a single father of one who feels like he is in the movie In Pursuit of Happyness!!. We have a family business that we run abroad which has fallen on its knees and has required new investment to get it back in form. I am currently undergoing a facelift and investing all my resources in this business and trying to get it going. I have pretty much sold everything we have and taken the money and reinvested it in the business.

I had to take my son out of school to bring down my personal expenses as well. I enrolled him in a state side school in Tucson Az. Now this school is great but they won't ship his school supplies to me and therefore i have to have them reshipped here to our location.

I really don't want cash donations but will take them if that is all I can receive. I would prefer someone who has a dhl, fedex, or ups account just assume the cost of shipping on their account and it be over and done with and have them shipped. If the only means by which i can do this is to receive several smaller donations, then great this would be a great help too. I am guessing the cost of this is probably about $200.00 u.s. dollars to get his supplies shipped to me. We just do not have any extra money right now. Thank you for your time and any help would be appreciated.

I'm So Worried for My Sister

Posted by yedda_2000 on 2012-01-11 16:58:15

My sister is pregnant. This was not medically supposed to be possible. The last child she had was born 3 months premature, and is a little miracle.
She was told she would not have any more children. Against the odds, she has discovered that is pregnant once again, much to her fear and delight.
Being pregnant is a danger to her health, but it is too late to turn back now. She is ordered to bed-rest, and her health and even her life are at risk. Her husband works full-time, and she has two young children already. They cannot afford full-time care, and so she is unable to follow the doctors orders for bed-rest. Her pregnancy has landed her in the hospital twice already. I'm so worried about her.
I'm on the other side of the continent from her, but I want to move to her location so that I can care for her children and for her. She has no one else.
I can't afford a move, or even a plane ticket right now. All I need is to scrape the cost of travel together so I can go be with her. Any help would be appreciated.

10 Acres for $8,000 USD

Posted by SchMasHD on 2011-12-21 05:58:53

I am 31 years old with a varied and extensive resume as well as a degree in computer application development (not that that degree is particularly relevant...).
I have found 10 acres of rural land in Alaska.
This land costs $8,000.
I would like to buy the land and build a year round cabin on the property, to live in year round.
I am from a rural background (BC = Before College) and have working knowledge of home building and can gather the required materials from the land and surrounding area for the construction of reliable, comfortable, and sustainable housing. I have done an immense amount of research regarding the accomplishment of my goal (to be independent of today's social requirements) and have formulated a bullet-proof plan to live a comfortable yet remote life away from the hustle and bustle of modern entrapment's and closer to the dream of our ancestors. I am willing to elaborate on my plans regarding the dwelling and the steps I will take to accomplish my goal while sustaining the creature comforts of modern day living.
In addition to my rural upbringing I am also a combat military veteran with working knowledge of para-military and survival tactics.
I have saved enough money to move to the property of my choice from my home state and have also provided for the tools, food, clothing and provisions(including shelter) needed to complete this project, the rest of the requirements of the project will be bought or shipped at or near the building location at my personal expense. I have considered every avenue required to secure financing and have been stopped by my credit alone. Really what matters the most to me is that I will have the opportunity to work for a permanent solution to my financial. social, and economic ills. However, due to my poor credit rating (Thank you 17yr old me) I have been unable to secure financing from "the man" and have been forced to beg of the internet. Please o' please grant me my life... That being said, in addition to the months of preparation I have done, I have secured the willing enlistment of free labor (in the form of an old army buddy) for this project. That being said, with my current financial situation I cannot afford to purchase the land for the cash asking price even though it is 10 acres at a fraction of the price normally requested for that expanse of property. What I am asking for is enough money to purchase the land ($8,000 USD). In return I am willing to spend 2 months every year (during any year) devoted to work for my benefactor for up to 4 consecutive years. Call it hired hand, indentured servitude, slavery, or [insert vague derogatory/demeaning name here]. What matters to me is that if I work my ass off I can be sucessesful. Please O please help me reach my goal. I am at your mercy o awesome and wonderful internet.

Please Help So I Can Be With My Children.

Posted by FireWolf on 2011-11-11 01:58:38

I am a single mother of 3 beautiful children. Right now I am in the process of looking for a job and have had no such luck. I am trying to come up with the money to keep my family together. If I am unable to come up with the money soon, I will be sent to prison for 2 years. My children have had a really rough past few years. Especially this year. If I am sent to prison for 2 years, my children will be put into foster care and I may not be able to get them back. I don't want to loose my family. They are all I have left right now. If anyone is willing to help me by donating a dollar or so, it would be greatly appreciated. I just want to be able to be with my family this Holiday Season and many more to come. Hopefully this link will work for PayPal.

If not my address is 536 Linda Vista Dr, Alamogordo NM 88310. Anything will be appreciated and I know my children will be grateful too.

Financial Assistance for a better living

Teach me to catch fish that is exactly what I am asking someone to help me do, so that I will stop always looking for hand outs. A humble, kind and caring person I am but for over six years now I am struggling like hell.Just over four years in marriage with two small kids under four and I feel like I am been washed away in murky waters with only my head above, trying to survive the economic crisis. My husband earns less than $400US each month and it is not even enough for the bills, baby food and other expenses. Relatives has to be giving us a little food sometimes mainly for the kids coupled with the two rooms we now occupy that serves as a kitchen just with a stove and temporary structured bathroom all this makes me feel stifled. I want to help so much it is unbearable. My husband mom has a little shop she is willing to allow us to operate a little business. It is long closed up now and needs to be refurbished. An internet cafe/service center will do well at that location and the estimated cost to start is $3000US, which I am begging you all, all that can afford to donate. Whatever you can help me with. We are not able to save as our bills and expenses are way over our earnings.I am worried about my kids, they are not yet attending school.I am a mature person and I believe it is better to start a business now which will help to employ others in the future. Please Help Me. Thank You All.

Also Beglist is doing a great job and when I became financially stable I will make that onetime donation. Keep up the good work Beglist.

I just found on this past Friday, 9/23/2011 that I was no longer needed at my job. I was working there for 2 months.

We were running slow, I guess bad location so since I was still a new person there, I was let go from there.

Here is the situation, I am now behind on my bills, and I am now struggling with paying my bills for October 2011.

In total, I will owe a total of $650.00 US including rent, food, and transportation. My job outlook at this point is rather bleek and if my rent isn't paid, I lose my place and will be homeless on the 3rd of October 2011.

Keep me from getting Cancer!

Posted by poorteacher on 2011-09-17 21:58:24

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. I am a 32 year old teacher who just discovered that I have the BRCA1 mutation. This means that I have roughly an 85% chance of getting early onset breast cancer. I watched my mother succumb to cancer 5 years ago and don't ever want to be in, or put my family in, that position. My option is to get constant screening (so they can find the cancer quickly when it comes) or to have a preventative mastectomy with reconstruction (which reduces my risk to that of a 'normal' woman).

I have good health insurance, however the problem is that the location I can go to do the procedure/surgery isn't covered by my insurance and I can't afford the medical bills. With the education cut backs cutting my salary and a lot of student loans, I can't scrape up the money to get my life-saving surgery.

Any little bit will add up and help...and a lot would be a wonderful, unexpected gift. Thanks in advance for helping to give me a full life.
