Money Help
First let me begin by stating that if I were not in desperate need of help I would not go to such lengths to seek it out. As of right now I am currently a senior in college majoring in English. Last year, after taking prescribed antibiotics I did not need, I was diagnosed with a severe case of C.diff. At first, I did not recognize the symptoms as anything worth seeking medical attention for so I went on with life as a waitress awaiting the fall semester to begin. But my illness got the best of me and on the first day of class I found myself severely sick and was forced to run out of class to make it to the restroom. I sat in the stall and cried trying to understand why I was so sick for so long; I knew then that something was wrong. My mother insisted on taking me to the ER, once admitted they drew my blood and determined that I was indeed severely sick. My white blood cell count was over 40,000. They took x-rays, MRIs and Cat scans to determine the severity of my illness. While running the test they discovered a tumor on my liver, luckily it is begnine but I am suppose to have it checked every six months to ensure it won't become cancerous. Of course, this is not possible for me since I do not have insurance and as of right now I am tremendously in debt. My illness forced me to seek the help of a GI, unfortunately, they are ridiculously pricey and my bills have skyrocketed. I begged family and friends for financial assistance just to pay the minimum fee in order to be seen, but I have exhausted they kindness. My family has been great; they have helped me as much as they could even while they themselves do not have much. I was forced to quit my job because I was sick for well over six months. They too were kind enough to let me work when I could but it became too much trying to juggle school and work while sick. On top of my acquired medical bills I also am $40,000.00 in student debt. I am frightened by the amount of debt I have and am worried I will not land a job post-graduation soon enough to begin paying on them. I am proud of myself for sticking through school all while being sick. I am not bitter, the illness taught me many lessons that I will take with me forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I hope to someday pay all the kindness forward. Thank you for reading.
Blessing,
Mary

help me fulfill my dream and ride the waves

Posted by jexrex1098 on 2012-01-30 23:58:05

This is why I'm posting here:

I am 25 and for my entire life, I have been fat. I don't mean this as in, a little on the chubby side; but obese. I can remember being in 5th grade, when our class had to get weighed and measured at the nurses office. The sinking feeling in my gut that came up when I weighed almost 200 lbs at the age of 10 is something that I don't think I will entirely forget.

Because of my horrible diet as a child (McDonalds, soda, you name it), I have spent my entire young life coping with being overweight and all of the horrible things that go with it: wondering if I'll fit in a seatbelt, wondering if I would break a friends bed or chair if I sat on it, or never being able to find a cute outfit to wear like all the other girls. When I was about 14, I was diagnosed with PCOS, which is cysts on my ovaries (contributing to my obesity, or as a result of, but they worked in tandem to make my life miserable). Without health insurance, I was never able to get this issue resolved, and with my poor diet, my weight increased. PCOS symptoms also include abnormal facial and body hair, which was (and to a degree still is) the bane of mine and any woman's existence. A woman should never have to feel so ashamed of her own body, and yet that is exactly how I've felt for as long as I've realized that I was different, and that looks mattered.

My highest weight as of 4 months ago topped out at 324 (thought I had reached 340 a year earlier but had lost some weight over a long period of time). Recently I began taking HCG (a hormone that helps regulate fertility and also helps with weight loss), and am amazed to report that for the first time in my adult life, I am 270 lbs. While this still is a lot, for me it is an incredible number to be at. Never in my life have I felt the fear of dying at 30 begin to be lifted, though I still have a long way to go.

So the point of my request: there are a lot of dreams I have that I feel like I am within reach of grasping. Some of them have already been fulfilled: I have been able to travel with my family, and this past year my parents helped me to finance a jeep. This is a huge one...I live on the west coast and have always wanted to live a surfer/beach lifestyle.

But how could a fat girl ever be a surfer? It's been my dream for the past 10 summers to learn to surf, with beaches only 15 minutes away. But every year, the fear stopped me, my weight stopped me, my inability stopped me.

I want this year to be the last year fear gets in the way.

With my weight going down, I've been trying to exercise. I've been attempting a modified version of P90X, and have been eating healthy and avoiding all the foods that got me where I am today. The problem is that financially, while I do work full time, I barely make enough to cover my bills (gas, car insurance, car payment, cell phone), and am not even able to help my hard working parents pay rent. So money for extras this summer is not really possible, but I CAN'T let another year go by without accomplishing this task.

I want to attend a surf camp this summer in San Diego, called Surf Divas. The problem? Surf lessons are expensive. I think to get me on the right path, I'd need at least 10 hours of lessons. At $82 an hour, thats $820.

The reason I want to fulfill this dream is to prove to myself and others that no matter where you've been, or how far your body is from being in shape, that the human body is remarkably capable of change. I would want to encourage anyone who doesn't think they are the right "type" to surf or do a sport that they can push their bodies to do things they never thought possible. And I sincerely believe that learning to surf will help me pursue my health and fitness goals long term, as well as truly set free the earth-and-sea-loving hippie that I keep snug and close to my soul. I live for summer and the ocean...and being able to ride a way would be life changing for me.

If anyone is able to donate or help support me in taking charge of my health and fitness...there would be no adequate way to thank you. I will send you a picture of me riding my very first wave as a token of gratitude, with a friendship bracelet made by me with a few shells from the beach strung on it. My way to say thank you for helping me to live a healthy life.

I'm a giver who rarely gets, but if you could change that, I would be most grateful.

I dont want a new car or a porsche just a decent runabout to get me to work and back and to be able to take my daughter to singing lessons, that's all she wants to do is sing! Thank god we have our health (just) but life is tough, I know it is for lots of people now. Thanks for reading this and hope you can help us.

Just lost my job and have my driving test booked in 3 weeks!

Posted by Blondie on 2012-01-25 07:58:04

Hi there,

I'm 22 years old and I lost my bar job last week, after my Guvnor decided he needs to save money and is going to be working behind the bar more often himself.
I've been studying for courses and doing volunteer work, gaining experience and trying to put myself in a better position to get a better paid, regular job.

I've been doing driving lessons since November and I booked my test for early March, so this has come at the worst time. I have enough money for another 3 lessons between now and then but I really want to be as best prepared as I can, and I need another £60 for the day to cover the cost of using the car on the day.

I would greatly appreciate anything from pennies to pounds, as I'd hate to see all this money go to waste, and feel I'd have much better job prospects if I have a driving license.

Thank you very kindly for your donation.

Please help my Father....

Posted by Change4thefuture on 2012-01-18 15:58:26

My Dad is a very hardworking, loyal, honest, determined, respectful and loving guy. He has raised me and my 5 siblings the best that we could ever imagine. Maybe we didn't have a million bucks laying around or live in a huge house but he always made sure we had what we needed and gave us more then material items. He gave us education, life lessons, and courage. He has taught us everything thru example and continues to do so. 14 years ago he started a company that over the years has provided for our family and helped many other families as well. However with the downfall in the economy it has had a dramatic effect in his business and he is about to loose everything. My Dad is the kind of guy that if he can see you are in need he will be there to help in whatever way possible. For as long as I can remember after he works for 9-10 hours at his job he comes home to help the neighbors move or help the elderly with yard work, or visit the sick. (He once gave up a vaction he was suppose to take to help a family in the neighborhood who's house had just caught on fire. For the week of his "vacation" they cleaned out the house. Saved what they could. Got things the family needed etc. He spent over $5,000 on this family instead of his vacation and he enjoyed it just as much) He is a leader of well known church which on top of all the additional things going on takes every spare second of his time. Never in my 26 years of living have I heard him complain. He has donated time, money and love more then I will ever know. But now he is in need.... His business is struggling. Starting this month he has cut his pay dramatically in hopes to save his company. He would NEVER ask for help because he is always worried about everyone else but it is his turn. Please find it in your heart to help him! Every little bit helps. I know you will be blessed! Thank you!!

piano lessons and tuition

Posted by grandmother on 2011-12-27 17:58:39

I am taking care of my 4 year old grandson. He is an extremely intelligent child, reading on a first grade level. He has shown an interest in music since he was an infant. In September, I placed him in some piano lessons. His music teacher was so impressed with him, she included him in the music school's holiday recital. She tells me my grandson has great potential, both in academics, and music. I would like to place him in school which would allow him to excel in both. I can not afford tuition and lessons for him on my income. Any donations would really be appreciated.

Please Help Me Relocate My Talented & Gifted Kids to a Safer Place

Posted by Momskids8577 on 2011-10-11 13:58:25

I am a single mother of two talented and gifted children and a student of
the ADN (Associate Degree Nursing) Program at my local community college. On
Febuary 16th, 2011, my childrens father wipped out our entire savings and
checking account and the contents of our home, then disappeared. There was
absolutely no warning of this. My children and I simply returned home from
school to an almost completely empty house.

My immediate thought was that we were victoms of a burglary. However,
shortly after the police arrived, neighbors reported something even more
disturbing. My childrens father , along with three other men in a huge
company moving truck, spent most of the early morning and mid-afternoon
moving things out of our home. Neighbors said they thought we were just
moving. They suspected no problems. Even though he had taken every household
appliance, all electronics and my childrens cellos, keyboards and computers,
there was nothing the police could do. He was indeed a resident and on the
lease.

I tried contacting him on his cell only to find it disconnected. When I
called his office, I was informed that he had been seperated from the firm
for over a month.

This was awfull and my children and I were in need of answers. To cheer us all up, I decided that we should go out to dinner and
fun. That's when I found out about the accounts.

Although there was no furniture, well, only the childrens bedroom furnitue,
we remained in our home for as long as we could. I started working part time
at a call center at night while continuing my classes in the day.

We soon had to move of course. We were evicted for non payment of rent. I
found a one bedroom appartment that I could afford. This meant moving the
children into another school district.

At the time my daughter was in seventh grade, taking highschool algebra 1,
and highschool english1. Her other classes were all AP 8th grade courses.
She was also in orchestra with her cello. The new district does not allow
7th graders to take highschool class, so she was not able to continue on her
path. Not only did we have to face the challenge of academics, we also had a
severe problem with bullies. Because I had to be at school myself, the
children had to ride the school bus daily. In a horrible neighborhood, they
were beaten often and picked on daily because of how they talked and
dresssed. Telling the school principles and the police only made matters
worse for us and our apartment. The parents live in our aparments and they
are not happy with me calling the authorities on them. I have had widows
borken out in my car, tires cut and the front door of my appartment painted
with ugly words.

I sat out of school this semester in order to escort my children safely to
and from school each day.For now, I work at a call center
m-th 8am-3pm and sat 7am-4pm.

I am trying to move my children to a neighborhood they can be safe in and a
school that is able to meet them at their academic level and they can also
be safe in. If this could happen then I could return to my nursing studies
and the children could return to a safe environment and school.

I pay 400 per month for our one bedroom we are in now. I found some
apartments in a a safer neighborhood with schools that offer orchestra and
college prep courses. ( I have not been able to pay for any private lessons
scince their father left. And their new schools do not offer orchestra. )
The one bedrooms in this particular area are 750/monthly .

I am begging for help to raise enough money to move my children into a
better neighborhood before January so that I may continue in my studies and
they can safely do the same.
I have a 7 year old boy and 13 year old daughter.
I have completed all of my support courses for my nursing. I completed my
first year last year and this summer. So, there is only one more year
nursing school that I have before I graduate. I am pleading with anyone and
everyone to please help me. Any amount will help me reach my goal.
I am asking for help to maintain a 750 per month one bedroom apartment for
12 months. January2012 to January 2013.

Any amount that you can donate will be very helpful.
Thank you for taking the time out to read about my children and I.
Thank you

Help a young man better himself

Posted by KOK360 on 2011-10-01 17:58:51

Hi, I'm a 21 year old man who just moved to a new city and am looking for a job.

When I was 17, I dropped out of high school. I made bad choices and was borderline homeless for three years.

Long story short, I smartened up and moved to a new city and state to live with my older brother. I got my GED and am enrolled at a local community college. Money is tight and the best career opportunities require I have a drivers licenses, why I do not.
All I simply need is $240 for driving lessons. I work part time at a restaurant and occasionally run errands for my elderly neighbors, but other expenses won't allow for extras.

Any amount will help.
Thank you in advanced

Trip to Central America

Posted by passionforcharity1 on 2011-09-22 17:58:47

Ever since I was 10, I've always wanted to go abroad in a gap year to help those less fortunate than me. This year, my school has opened a trip to Nicaragua; Central America. The plan is to be help to build schools, bathrooms (sanitary conditions are very unhygienic), playgrounds and water wells as well as assisting in some lessons, such as English. I am 16 and I work very hard in my studies; my mum and all her friends rewarded me for doing well in my GCSE's, I got 8 A* and 2A. But, the school fee's are £3000-£3500 per year and since my sister goes to the same school as me, it's double the price for my mum. She works so hard, she hardly has any time for herself. Which is why I would like to raise money for this trip myself.

I would love to see the grateful faces of the children when we build their new school together and feel the buzz when we start classes for the first time; getting to know them one by one.

I would be so grateful if you could donate to me. I know it's a lot of money, but if you could give any, I honestly couldn't appreciate anything more. This is my dream and has been for years now; to have the opportunity right in front of me, then taken away, would be horrible.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this. If you donate, God bless you.

I would really like to pass my driving lessons so i can get a job.

Hi everyone, this will be the first last time i ever do this!
i am 22 and i am married to a wonderful man i have two step children aged 10 and 6 and i have also just had a baby who is currently 9 weeks old, my husband and i are both on benefits, and have been looking for work since last november.
being on benefits with 3 children means not being able to afford to learn to drive as any extra money is also being put towards debts we have. i would really just like enough to be able to drive as there are jobs out there but by the time buses/trains have been paid for we are always even more worse off :(
i have started my lessons which is £50 for two hours :/
if anyone does want to see proof im on benefits, or that i do have 3 children and of my debts im struggling to pay then please let me know i will be happy to provide proof. once i have enough even to help with half the cost i will stop doing this.
thank you in advance to all those that do help

I need to hear & see better! In Debt. Taking Classes.

Hi, I am a former musical director who lost his full-time job due to younger generation moving in to replace me. I am 55 years old, in good shape and currently enrolled and have done very well in Voice Acting/Multi-Media/Film classes which are very expensive trade school type intense studies.

I am about half-way through the courses I need to launch my new career as a Multi-Media voice/music/acting/film/producer/director/advertiser. This will entail building a home studio, installing equipment and website/marketing costs. I am also playing in two bands and teaching guitar lessons trying to make up the lost income.

My motivation to ask for help financially is due to my hearing aids which are now very outdated. My right hearing aid has been repaired several times and no longer functions properly, I cannot use it to hear conversation. My left aid works but doesn't have the power I need to listen in class and hear what I need to excel. I use an outboard listening device right now but it is horrible quality. I am essentially rendered partially deaf because I cannot afford new hearing aids.

Our personal debt has been managed by my Wife's job but we cannot afford anymore credit card debt. What we bring in pays the bills, there's no more room for new hearing aids which cost $6500.00 for the quality I need. The top of the line aids are needed because of my new career, voice acting in a quiet studio, teaching guitar, live music performance, front of camera work. Contacting clients by phone and computer. All require a wide range of hearing.

My eyesight is now deteriorated where reading glasses don't handle my needs. I need either contacts or Lasik to go from reading copy, to front of camera to intense computer work.

I can offer, as a gift for your donation of $500 or more, a recording of a special instrumental song performed on my acoustic guitar. I can also offer voice-over work, custom made songs for your business for a generous donation.

I speak and write well. I just need help to hear and see better so I can continue to carry on toward my career goals. However, if you have the financial ability to truly help me, getting completely out of debt and purchasing the ear and eye assistance I need would cost about $25,000.

Seems like a lot but every penny helps and that would launch me into a great new career and take the pressure off my hard-working wife. I have a 15 year old Daughter and a 19 year old Son, both of whom I will hire to work for me, they are gifted and creative kids. Eventually, I will hire some of my fellow students for ad work, voice overs etc. This isn't just for me, it will benefit many.

Ask questions, I have nothing to hide except the fact I am "begging" online. I do not consider this begging however, since I am offering something in return to generous donations and I will benefit Society in general.

Thank you for reading, "my story". I hope to hear from you soon.

End of our Rope

Posted by lynn on 2011-07-06 14:58:30

Last year was a disaster for our family and we have now exhausted every possible resource and emptied our savings just to stay in our home. Two family members lost our jobs due to downsizing, and have been unable to find employment because with college educations we are "overqualified" for the McDonald's jobs. We are three grown children living in my mother's home and trying to contribute anything we can to the bills. She is working full time while also attending grad school, and her income simply isn't enough. She also has a young teen still at home. She loves sharing her home with us, but we have lost the ability to contribute.

At this time we have sold a few things on Craigslist in order to prevent our water being shut off tomorrow, but I have a car payment due (I need the car to look for jobs), and we have no way to pay the mortgage next month unless we allow the electricity and phones to be shut off. Any amount would be a blessing which would be combined with the occasional $20 we are able to earn by offering tutoring and music lessons now and then. Thank you so much for anything you can do.

Please Help! $75 Would Keep My Head Above Water!

Posted by Laura on 2011-06-29 01:58:06

Hi. My name is Laura, and in the past few years I've been laid off, lost my home, sold everything I once owned and learned to live more frugally than I ever thought possible. I was saved from homelessness by friends with generous hearts and a sofa I could sleep on, and through it all I've learned some very valuable lessons about gratitude, and what really matters in life.

I have started my own small business, and am gradually clawing my way back from the brink. I manage to scrape by from month to month, but like so many people I'm still always one unexpected expense away from disaster.

Then last week my trusty old laptop died after years of faithful service. I had to replace it, because my business depends on it. I got lucky and found a good, second hand machine at a bargain price, but that expense has pushed me over the edge, and I'm short about $75 for bills this month.

I'm doing everything in my power to earn that money before I end up back in the downward spiral of late fees and bank charges, but I'm running out of time. I found BegsList while I was looking online for help and information, and decided it can't do any harm to ask!

If you can send anything at all (even a quick prayer) it would really help, and would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much.

On my own.

Hi, I am in my third year of undergraduate studies. This year I will be paying for college on my own, and have no means to do so. My mother is a single mom with three kids in college, so there is not much room for help from her. She has raised us to be independent and hard working, and I work hard on teaching kids swim lessons, while continuing my education through the summer. Family members are too scared to co-sign on an education loan, and I have exhausted my savings....so I am in dire need of extra help. Every little bit helps.

Thank you so much!

Educated Single-Mother Who Can Hardly Afford to Work

Posted by sfgymnast76 on 2011-06-12 23:58:24

I am a motivated, single-mother who earned her Bachelor's degree when my son was a toddler, with the hope that I could provide a stable living for my family. Sadly, I have come to the realization that I would probably be better off not working, financially speaking, and relying on governmental assistance.

It's truly disheartening that I cannot survive on a single income alone, working full-time in advertising/marketing for our local newspaper. I thought I was doing everything right. Where did I go wrong? I left my son's father when he was an infant because he was unfaithful to me several times. It was not a conducive or healthy environment for me or my son. Since then, his father has been absent from his life for over 5 years. Not one phone call. Not one visit. No birthday presents. No cards. No money to help with expenses. Nothing. We can handle his absence because I have several positive male role models who have taken my son under their wings. He is a very well-grounded young man and has strong morals, values, and integrity.

With that said, I am the only financial support for him and I and pay all the bills, insurance, etc. and often have my wages garnished because I have had a difficult time paying for a couple ER visits (my son has asthma and was hospitalized with pneumonia) even with my insurance. I feel as if I can't get a break even though I try to do good.

My son is almost 9-yrs old and has been taking Suzuki violin lessons (paid for by a family friend) for the past year and a half. He is also my budding electrician/engineer...and creates incredible inventions with his circuit boards, wires, LEDs & motors that he digs out of old electronics. He attends the Robot Club at the local high school...and the older kids accept him even though he is their youngest member. =) He has an extremely bright future & I am so proud of him. However, it is a constant struggle everyday for me to put on a smile because we are so far in debt. I owe $2500 to the IRS for a supposed error on my 2009 tax return (disagree...but can't afford an attorney to fight it), $800 hospital bills, $3000 from other creditors from credit cards I had when I was 20 (I'm 35 now). I pay $300/month for daycare, household bills, car payment, etc. I am a good person & have a heart of gold. I want to remain a good role-model for my son so he is proud of me. I do not want to have to resort to relying on governmental assistance. I just wish we could survive on my income. It would be feasable if these bills were paid. Please help us. Any size donation would be an absolute blessing!! We need some financial assistance to get us back on our feet again. We're going through an extremely rough time & any gift would help. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

Best Regards,
