Some moths ago, I came home from a normal day at work, happy to see my two little boys (Josh 3 and Liam 4 months) and what I used to consider my better half. I walked in to find the house empty - no note, no indication of what had happened. I toyed around with calling the police, but it was clear this wasn't a missing persons case, or a robbery or anything else other than what it was. Everything was gone. Phone disconnected, bank accounts cleared out, credit cards closed. Suddenly it was me, the house and the car and nothing else. After a few days of searching, talking to family, friends and yes even filing a police report - not they cared much - I discovered I had been dumped for a guy my wife had been seeing for months. We has only just signed the lease less than a month before, and I thought we were really happy together. There were no signs - nothing that I saw at least. This really isn't the part that hurts, I can live with all this; it's her life and her decision. What really hurts is not seeing my boys.

During the first few days I didn't work, too busy trying to piece together what had gone on and why and how it had come to this right under my nose. The rent still needed to be paid, even though the house was unfurnished and too big for me alone. I was (and still am) locked into the lease! Problem number one.

Problem number two is rather more complex. Last Friday I received two letters. The first from a solicitor (our version of what you would call a lawyer) informing me of divorce proceedings and the second was sent a letter from the Child Support Agency informing me my wife is seeking child support payments from me. Now, I'm no deadbeat dad! I think all parents should pay for their children's needs but here I am - rent on a house I don't need, no furniture (some friends have lent me a TV and cooking utensils and a couch), no money to contest the proceedings and on top of that she wants me to pay child support while she's shacked up and living a 'normal' life with my boys, whom I haven't seen since.

I've seen a solicitor who advised me he wouldn't bill me for the first meeting - we talked about the situation, and what he could do from here... It requires more than I have, to achieve what I want and what I think is fair! All I want to do is split our assets 60/40 her favour (she has the kids). Get out of this lease that I'm legally locked into, and get shared custody of my beautiful little boys. Problem is she has the assets and without a court order to either return a portion to me or divest herself of some of the assets so I can be compensated, I can't pay a solicitor and barrister to get the money to do all this. Once it's all settled I'll happily pay my child support requirements, see my boys and leave her out of my life, seeing that's what she wants.

My solicitor has told me I could be up for as much as $10,000, but $6000 should be a good starting point. His firm wont proceed without knowing they'll be paid - fair enough, but what's a man to do in this situation?

I am literally begging for $6000. I haven't wanted for anything in my life - I've always worked and worked hard for what I had, but when it's all taken away from you, you realise how vulnerable we all are. I'm pledging that whatever I receive from this site that's not used in the case, I will pay forward, to another needy soul from this site. Please help... My heart and thanks, and that of my boys will go out to you.

Update: 6th Jan 2012. I've managed to get the proceedings heard at a later date, due to my personal situation. But nothing has changed. I still don't have the funds to fight this and to date not one response to my plea for help. I'm begging - literally for some assistance. I haven't seen my boys since December and I can't fight this without your help.

I have nothing to fight her with. No funds, no will and no motivation. The house has been re-leased and the owner has started legal proceedings against me, I have nothing but what she left me. I am trying my hardest to provide some money for my two kids - that I haven't seen since December. I can't go on like this. No-one can!

I am a single mother raising my 17 month old daughter. I am going through a lot right now. Financially, and legally. I don't know where my next job is coming from. I have a cleaning business I am working on building it back since my daughter has been here. Between doctor's visits and life it has been difficult.

I never thought I could resort to this, but I am begging for help. I have a 2 year old baby. Last week a man shows up at my house (that I was renting from my mother.) And he says to me"I just bought your house at the tax sale, I'm going to start the eviction paper." The thing is, my own mother betrayed me by not telling me or give me any notice. I am a single mother who lives paycheck to paycheck. I don't have any money to move, give first and last months rent, switch utilities, etc. I can't drive due to a car accident that I had which left me legally blind in my left eye.I know the economy isn't great and a lot of people are suffering financially but if you are one of those fortunate people that can help someone, please find it in your heart to help me get on my feet, for the sake of my child. Hello, I've never done this before but, I'm desperate.
I'm 19 years old and my family is going through a divorce, my mother never furthered her education and has been a house wife for the entire 20 years they have been married and simply supported my dad and all his pursuits.

When I turned 18 my dad left for a gas station woman he'd known for maybe a total of a few months. Let me state he tried to have an affair with her, it wasn't till my mother confronted him that he said he wanted a divorce; My dad is a repeated cheat, I was never aware of this till the day he left, then all the lies came out of the closet.

We run a small chimney sweep business, the office is located at my mother's as she sets the appointments. She does not receive a pay check because during their marriage it was easier on taxes, they have decided to keep it this way and instead dad just covers the bills.

Now the business is great in the winter but we are in spring now and as you may already know no one uses their fireplace in the middle of warm weather! No they go outside and have bonfires. Now my dad is going blind due to diabetes and simply cannot work, we have hired a friend to do the jobs now while my dad just tells them what needs to be done and oversee's the work to the best of his ability. However, his reputation of leaving his wife and daughter for a woman he barely knows has
gotten around and I've heard the clients say they don't want business from a man like that.
My dad also wants to spend money we do not have, he is trying to sell an old sports car so we can put another work truck on the road, we don't have enough work to keep the one truck going we most certainly can't afford the regular expenses of another! My parent's can't even afford to legally divorce, and he want's a new truck. The one he has is fine, I don't understand why he won't use that money for bills.

Now any money I earn myself I have to give to my parents to help alleviate the burden of the bills, but what I contribute is not enough and now we have received the nasty call from the mortgage that they are foreclosing. While I hand all my savings to my parents can't save for my education, and being homeless will make it almost impossible. I've no famly or friends to turn to and we do not have a shelter here. I'm under the age of 24 so I cannot get any financial aid for school without a legal guardian to sign for me, and my parents refuse to think realistic; When I ask them what are we going to do? they say "Winning the lottery is the only thing that can save us." They have lost hope, I understand things are bad... but is it so bad that they can't help me get financial aid?

hi, I'm 27 yrs old with 3 small children. Nearly a month and a half ago everything was going great, my partner proposed to me, we had plans on saving for a house and to hopefully move back to our hometown which we moved a yr earlier to start fresh and have a good life for our children. We moved so my fiance could get a good paying job. But what happen he was told suddenly there's no work at the moment and don't know how long he be out of work for. He called them the other day and told him still a month maybe 2! Which i could not believe and sound like there stuffing him around and that's a long time to be out of work when you got a family to provide. He cant go on centrelink because legally he still has a job and hasn't been fired. I don't think we ever been so broke and feel quite ashamed that i am begging now and would not if i was not desperate. I even considered hocking my engagement ring. The way things are going i think i might have too. I have been scraping up coins out of my son's money box to buy milk and bread. And just barely had enough to buy nappies and formula. I'm $750 behind in rent and I know they will be sending me a letter to pay the rent in 7 days or we will be evicted, and I dont even want to think about that because we are all the way on the other side of the country away from our home with just me my fiance and children. On top of that I'm overdue on my electricity bill that i already got a extension from. I have several cronic illnesses. Including scoliosis:Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that occurs most often during the growth spurt just before puberty. While scoliosis can be caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, the cause of most scoliosis is unknown. My scoliosis curve got worse, the spine rotated and twisted, in addition to curving side to side. This caused the ribs on one side of the body to stick out farther than on the other side. Severe scoliosis can caused back pain and difficulty breathing. In my case In severe scoliosis, the rib cage may press against the lungs and heart, making it more difficult to breathe and harder for the heart to pump.I also experience harsh neurological affects of Muscle weakness, Numbness and Abnormal reflexes. To save my life I had to have surgery.
Surgery involves correcting the curve (although not all the way) and fusing the bones in the curve together. The surgeon lays bone grafts across the exposed surface of each vertebra. These grafts will regenerate, grow into the bone, and fuse the vertebrae together. The bones are held in place with one or two metal rods held down with hooks and screws, helping to support the fusion of the vertebrae.I went through all this at age 13. But now with the onset of sevral more cronic illness complication from the surgery that once saved my life now slowly kill me.
Years later I began getting sicker and sicker by the time I was 20 my spine was degenerating causing horrible pain, I had to have my appendix removed, then gallblader went bad. We never dreamed these all had a common factor. Doctors just shook their head proclaiming :you are just so young for your body to be failing like this". Eventually it was discovered I have Lupus and severe arthritus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease, meaning that the body' s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy organs and tissue. Lupus can affect any part of the body, causing inflammation and damage in joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood vessels, or the brain. More than 90% of people with lupus have skin rashes, often triggered by exposure to the sun, and about half have kidney and lung problems. Because lupus affects the joints, it is considered a rheumatic (arthritis) disease.
Upon this discovery things began to make sense. So doctors now knowing why began a body wide check up to see what all has been affected. One test was A bone mineral density (BMD) test measures how much calcium and other types of minerals are present in a section of your bone. Your health care provider uses this test, along with other risk factors, to predict your risk of bone fractures in the future and detect osteoporosis. Bone fracture risk is highest in people with osteoporosis. They found I indeed had osteoporosis at the age of 22. SO now My bones are weaking causing damage areas all over my body, but the most serious being in my spine. Now comes the arthritis/lupus, they see these damaged areas and my own imune system attacks. Eating at the damaged areas creating even more damage, which increases the area the lupus attacks. It is a vicious circle. I have now been treated with medication over 10 yrs. But they can only slow the illness there is no cure, and dure to my scoliosis and the metal rods in my back surgical treatment options are very limited.
The damage is so severe I was decared legally disabled by the age of 23. My only income is SSI. I have to support my children and I on 658.00 a month. Thank God the court issued my ex to pay my rent in lue of child support. I am asking for help to cover upcoming medical bills. In the last 14 months I have had 5 seperate kidney surgery. My right kidney is damaged and I will soon be having a 6th surgery. This one to remove damaged section of the tube that leads from the kidney to bladder. then they will reattach at a higher section of bladder. I will aslo be having several Jaw surgeries. Due to exposure to radiation, osteoperosis a excessive vomiting of stomache acid my teeth are breaking and falling out. The doctor needs to repair what they can and put in inplants for what they cant. This will slow the degineration of my jaw. Without this treatment my jaw is going to cave in. Currently I am only able to eat mushy foods. I have drastically lost weight and my body is stuggling to heal due to the stress, pain and infection. So I hunbly beg of you to help me 1.00 or 50.00 anything would help. These procedures will not only improve my quality of life but aslo help extend my time here on earth just a little ehile longer. I just want to be with my kids as long as I can.Whith each dollar you donate its like adding an hour to my life.....What would you give for a few more hours with the ones you love?

I am in a bind.I am a disabled immigrant from the Philippines.My Green Card expired about one year ago. My friends are getting married in Hawai'i this summer. I wasn't planning on going, but then my house was flooded in September and I lost everything. I am a 23 year old student struggling to make ends meet and get through school. I am in my 4th out of 6 years into a psychology major, I am not working, but looking for work. My current issues getting work have been complicated in part to me being legally deaf, and being in school as well, in the past I did some work as a secretary, but they also needed help answering the phones as well. So I couldn't continue working there for that reason. I am a foster child, so I don't have family, and being a student, most of my friends are broke like I am.

I am in need of a car as the area where I am living is very far from any stores, which is making it difficult to get to school, to buy food, or get to the library for studies, etc. Once I can afford a decent vehicle I will dedicate my time to finding work and getting myself out of the current hole I am in. Well, this is embarrassing, but for the sake of my children I am doing it anyway.
I have a problem with bailiffs. My husband left me and also left me with all his unpaid debts as well as three children to support. I lost my job a year ago and have not been able to find another yet, although I have been trying. I am on benefits, but they do not cover the debts or the mortgage payments I need to make. I am trying to sell the house, and the mortgage company are being fairly reasonable, but even so, if I do not sell in time, I will also lose my house. If I can sell, I can pay my debts and move into rented with some money left over. But that's a long shot in the current market.
However, the most urgent problem is the bailiffs. They are demanding immediate payment of £2,020 (approx $3,300 USD) or they will take my possessions to auction to cover the debt. It's a joke, my paltry possessions will not cover the debt, but they will take them anyway. The longer the debt goes unpaid, the more "interest" they are adding to the bill and they refuse to take instalments, saying my husband broke the original agreement with them and now it's too late for that. Unfortunately, they are legally allowed to do this, (since we had an earlier agreement with them and they have what is called a levy on the house contents) as well as intimidate, threaten and even break into my house to collect my stuff. It's a frightening situation. I am afraid to answer the door in my own home and I have had to tell the kids not to either, because they are not above forcing their way in past them. I have tried the police, but they say it's all legal and they cannot help me, even if these men break in (in fact, they will help THEM to do so, because I owe the money) It’s unbelievable, but it's true. I have even asked the help of a solicitor, but he says the same thing, unless the law is changed, there is nothing he can do. No one appears to be trying to find my husband, and I do not have the resources to look.
I hate having to ask, but I am terrified of these men. I can't eat or sleep and I am worried about the effect this is having on the kids.
I hope there is someone (or several people maybe) who can help me out of this mess I have been left with.

Not to proud when it comes to taking care of my daughter. It's been a rough couple years. The best part of it all is my beautiful 4 year old daughter who is my world. I fought and lost a lot to get custody of her but it was worth every penny. Thanks to her mother I lost a lot, my home, my car, thousands of dollars worth of possessions because of her drinking and drug use.

I've worked 2 jobs for 3 1/2 years to make ends meet. It's my daughter and I in a 1 bedroom apt, with a car that makes me wonder some mornings. I've had my house foreclosed on, had to file bankruptcy and had the bank remove items before they were legally able. That's another story.

Regardless, I am a hard worker and at the suggestion of a friend took a job here in Cincinnati with a company. Everything was great, salary etc finally, until 2 months after I started. They fired the CIO and my hiring Director. Brought in a new CIO who basically is cleaning house. Not based on performance, but on financial reasons. Therefore, my entire dept is being outsourced to Lima Peru. After the first of the year I may be without a job.

I'm kicking myself for leaving my last job. Sure finance wise it was a struggle but I was doing it. Now I'm not sleeping, worried sick as to what I'm going to do. I'm not looking for handouts, I would rather a good paying stable job in this area or maybe someone to critique my resume and maybe beef it up so to speak. I'm an IT Project Manager with almost 10 years experience but can't afford,nor have the time to get my PMP with working 2 jobs and all.

Wall Street and the big banks were bailed out of debt. What happened to us on mainstreet? I posted a plea the other day explaining my situation, but am changing it to read like this.
I owe close to $1000.00 in property and mobile home taxes. Two are considered deliquent. The other two are due the end of Novermber. The longer I can't pay, the more interest is added. My property taxes keep rising every six months. The value of my property has dropped because of the housing bust. Most non-profit charities will not help with property taxes. I work part-time cleaning private houses. It is the only job I can find in my area.It barely-I mean barely- covers my utilities, car insurance, etc. The state can legally take my home just like a mortgage lender if I cannot pay my taxes. I have an old computer with dialup so I cannot join Facebook or twitter due to outdated technology.

Therefore, I am challenging a rich Wall Street banker or other rich banker or anybody with money to burn to help bail me (Jane Q. Public) out of the tank. I cannot pay you back, but I will thank you personally if given the opportunity. I also have other outstanding bills. A doctor bill for $118.00. And I also need the basic necessities of life. Hi i hope you can help. last yr i stupidly went guarentor for a friends loan as she was currently selling her house and in rented, she assured me (verbally) that she would pay the loan off once the house was completed. She has defaulted on the loan either paying late or incomplete since january and is now not paying at all. it now appears her house was actualy being repossesed so i feel as though i was also tricked into this. i have also found out from the loan company that she contacted them in October to change my contact details - i can only assume this was to prevent me finding out that she wasnt paying. i have paid the last two months to prevent court action, my question is would anyone out there be able to help me pay this off, i am a good person and help people myself everyday (im a paramedic) i live to my means and am in no debt myself apart from this mess that my so called friend has landed on me, i feel so silly and stupid and would never normally ask anyone for help but im so worried about this...........i can provide any information and proff needed to prove this is not a scam and i have no intention of keeping this money, i am prepared to work for the money if need be (legally of course), i do not have the option to work extra hours at work (as everyone knows the nhs has no money either) please help if you can i have tried to get them to pay, iv tried the police, the courts are not interested, the loan company just hounds me.... i have sent two recorded letters each giving 14 days notice asking them to contact myself or the loan company with their intention of paying, iv had no response to either letter. All my life I have done things right. I treat people well, worked hard from the time I was legally able to work, went to college, went to grad school, and now I am trying to marry the woman of my dreams.

This girl deserves the world when it comes to the life I want to provide for her, but keeping things reasonable, I just want to make our wedding day the most magical day of her life.

Hi... I am a stay at home mom of two kids one 4 year old and a 16 month old.
My eldest, a girl, is about to start school this year in september.

My little girl has always been special and she is the most loving thing on earth. We didn't realize till about 6 months ago that she has a condition called opticnervehypopasia and that she is considered legally blind. The time before that we knew there was something wrong with her but none of the doctors could figure it out until we went to a bigger city in our state to a childrens hospital.
Because of her condition, she is also very small for her age and just isn't thriving like other 4 year olds. She has to take growth hormone shots and thyroid medicine and may need sex hormones later in life.

I hate giving her shots everynight.. she cries and it breaks my heart and i don't do it when my husband is home because it just stresses him out to the point he can't go to sleep. (he also does a lot of overtime.. so him not sleeping is very bad... especially since he has to drive a ways to get to work)

My husband works while i take care of the kids and we are doing the best we can.. but like so many other people these days, we are barely getting by. Some months we aren't. We arent' getting social security or medicaid for disabled children either, everything is tied up in paper work. We have family around us but they have been sick and are struggling financially too.

We can't pay all of our bills and it reallys kills me inside to know that we owe doctors that have helped us and family too, but... can't pay what is due to them. We have had to borrow $50 here $100 there more than a couple of times just to keep the electricity on.

My daughter hasn't had a lot of interaction with other kids her age and as a result she is socially awkward on the rare occasion she does see other children. She watches TV and she says she wants friends and to go to "school". With how things are going now, i'm not sure how my husband and i can make that happen for her.

I really want this badly for her... i just think that denying her this opportunity is just going to delay her developement even further. I initially had a Finance degree (magna cum laude), couldn't find a steady career, went back for my Accounting degree (again with honors), and still can't start my career due to "lack of experience". I'm doing all I can to keep things afloat and maintain the household, which is hard with the limited amount of time on my hands, not to mention the occasional flair ups of my Crohn's disease. Oh yeah, I don't have medial insurance and cannot afford the ridiculously priced medication. Thank you to the Doctor who helped diagnosed my condition at a VERY discounted price.

I know I can make it through this and somehow regain the semblance of a normal, healthy life. All I'm asking for is whatever relief I can get to help chip away at my expenses and keep things moving forward. The immediate plan is to repair the house and finish paying off my student loans and my parents' high credit card debt while trying to start a career.

If- no WHEN I make it to the end of the tunnel, I will absolutely pay it forward to someone else in a similiar situation. I do have a history of volunteer work when things weren't as bad, and I still sometimes give time to a local soup kitchen. ANY help is appreciated. Thanks for your time!
