I am the eldest daughter of two ill parents. I have 2 siblings who have been the caregivers to my parents for several years now. It all started when my father got ill in 2007 with a need of open heart surgery. After that surgery he was never the same. He was a very successful emergency room physician and made very good money. However, he was off for several months from work due to his recovery period. Much of his savings/investments were depleted as he was the only bread winner in the family. My brother and sister had just gotten an apartment and were to start college when my father got ill. They withdrew from school just as quickly as we moved them into their apartment in order to help my mother take care of dad. My father attempted to return to work, but he was still having chest pain and major depression. In September of 2008 he was in the hospital again and needed heart stents to open up blockages. After that situation he physically could not go back to work. He was weak, depressed, and very withdrawn from life. My mother, bless her heart, tried to find ways to make some cash. She sold many pieces of her jewelry to try and pay bills. Regardless of what she profited, she was unable to fulfill the mounting medical bills, credit card bills, car payments, insurance bills, etc.
It wasn't long before she became gravely ill. In the summer of 2010 my mother had succumbed to kidney failure and had to be on kidney dialysis permanently. She had neglected to take care of herself while trying to take care of my father and their financial woes. Along with the financial woes, there were back taxes that were still owed and of course were impossible to pay, their house was falling apart--still is. By the end of Spring 2011, my mother got so ill and was on a ventilator at least 4 times in a 2 week period due to her lungs filling up with fluid. Finally it was discovered that she had endocarditis (infection in heart)that had ravaged one of her heart valves. This required open heart surgery and replacement of the defected valve. The endocarditis stemmed from an infected temporary dialysis catheter. She was in the hospital for over a month and a half or so. Needless to say she was confused, lost tons of weight, and lost the ability to walk or care for herself. She was placed in a nursing home for rehab, but several more stays in the hospital only made her fall several steps back on her rehab and she never has fully recovered. It was discovered that she also had a tumor on one of her kidneys and her kidney was removed in the Fall of 2011 and supposedly it was all contained and it was early stage renal (kidney) carcinoma (cancer). While my mother was in the hospital my father had trouble breathing and I took him to the hospital. It as discovered he was in kidney failure and they both ended up in the hospital at the same time. Now my father is on permanent kidney dialysis.
Now fast forward to present day April 6, 2012. My mother's dialysis shunt would not stop bleeding and she was taken to the emergency room. She also complained of right leg pain and ultimately she ended up with a CT angiogram. This test revealed she not only had some blockage in one of her arteries in her leg, but that she had metastatic cancer to her liver, lungs, and a site near her spleen. Of course we are devastated.
They have no money. The money they do get is always depleted as soon as they get it from Medicare. My mother's social security check went straight to the nursing home and still was not enough to cover her bill. My father would have to pay over $1,000 a month because Medicare would only pay for several weeks. Since she has been in the hospital now for almost 2 weeks, we have pulled her out of the nursing home because the expected us to pay over $180 A DAY to keep her spot at the nursing home.
Now we are faced with a surgery to fix her leg, a plan for cancer treatment, and no suitable place for my mother to live. Their current home is in shambles and I mean SHAMBLES. Roof leaks and is falling apart. I assume there is some black mold lingering. No central air or heat as their units are broke. Plus large amounts of stuff--my mother also was a hoarder. The house is disgusting and it has been hard to clean up with out major assistance and with constant trips to the hospital who has ample time (?). They live in a small town and it is very hard to simply get a dumpster to throw many items away. The house would have to be completely gutted and redone. The floors are sinking in and it is very dangerous. They don't have the funds to fix any of it and nor do I.
I have missed work several times over the last year and more with FMLA, but never have enough PTO to fully cover my own losses.
My siblings have yet to start their lives. They have been with my parents ever since 2007 to help them with everything. Even when my mother was in a nursing home my siblings and my dad would go see my mom every single day--we just didn't trust the care of the nursing home and rightly so because she developed a bed ulcer on her heel after the wound care nurse said it was getting better--not even close! And yes the blocked artery in her leg and her bed ulcer on her heel are related. The wound care nurse and the Dr. for the nursing home should have caught this medical issue.
So life has been tough, but reading about it doesn't even give it justice. We need financial assistance, a new home or help to fix it--we need a lot of help. I want my brother and sister to finally get on their own feet and do what they want to do. I feel bad for them because I was able to finish college and have a career, a husband, and a home. They have yet to accomplish their goals and it makes me sad and sick to see them so depressed. They are in their late 20s and my parents are both 65 y.o.
If anyone has a kind heart, I promise you I'm not lying. I have proof of all I have written about and I swear on everything--my family, my husband, etc. that this is all real. Thank you for your time and interest. If you can't help at least please pray for us.

I'm trying this BegsList as desperation as I don't know what to do. My wish is to get them a nice clean place to live and live their last years worry free.

I dont have a 2 page sob story to go with my 'beg'. My husband and I both work over 30 hours a week, pay our bills on time etc etc but have never been able to save for a house of our own. The house we are currently renting has a hot water system in the roof which leaks and floods my hall way, a massive crack in my baby girls wall which lets mosquitos and bees into her room so she cant sleep in there at all, an airconditioner which leaks water everywhere, no drinking water to the premises which we have to drive 15kms to get any, mice enjoying living here with us and crappy landlords who do nothing to help fix anything. We have tried to rent at least 10 other properties (the area we live in is not very large) all of which many other people have gotten in before us, so the only option left for us in order to get out of this house is to buy one, meaning we need a huge deposit that we just dont have and wont for a very long time. Our main priority every pay check is to pay our rent and bills and provide for our baby and saving for a house just isn't feasable after these are taken into consideration. Your help would be VERY much appreciated!!!

My name is Angela K. Baker. I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin and have been living with diagnosis of Systemic Lupus since I was fourteen years (I am now 34 DOB 06/16/1977). Although as a child, I knew there was something a little different about myself compared to my twin brother Johnathan. I could never run and play with the other children because my body just would not keep up with the other kids. It always felt like I had sandbags attached to me and I would pass out in the sunlight, I was always exhausted and my body cried out in pain. I just didn't know why. I can remember being like this all the way back to my kindergarten year. Not that my parents were bad people, it just seemed like they just didn't have anymore to give, there problems were so on the surface, (both of my parents are alcoholics, and my mother has had Multiple Sclerosis (MS) since I was born and as for my father, he spent a large part of my life locked away in the Wisconsin jail system (due to his own alcohol induced indescretions.) At fourteen I got a full-time job to pay for my medical bills and a part-time job working at a nursing home to help my family. I have always been stuborn and a fighter, but at this point in my life the fight has just about been exstinguished out of me and I have to admit that I need some help. Over the last twenty years I have been under anasthetic approximately 125 times. I am missing more parts than I have. I feel like an experiment gone wrong or a human pin coushon. I hope that at least some of my surgical suffering at least helped the surgeons learn something from my body...You see I have lived longer than anyone that they know of with this kind of Lupus. It usually manifesters in the late 30's or 40's not in children. My most recent operation was on June 9th 2011, to fix holes in my intestines that were accidentley left after my colon was removed (my colon exploded after it had been recected four times) Right now I have an Illyectomy system that does not work correctly, it leaks blood, bile, puss, fecal liquid ect. and the plastic appliances do not work on me because my skin is so sensative from the Lupus. My medical exspenses are so astronomical even with Medicare and I struggle every month to pay my basic needs (rent, public service water copays ect) I was forced to retire at 23 my body deceided it just couldn't do it anymore, even though I worked very hard to put myself through college so that I could have a decent job that I enjoyed. Thank God that it does not take much to feed me, because the state of WI says that I do not qualify for food stamps or medical assistance, I make $4.oo a month too much. I am not asking for large donations, I know the ecomomy is bad and we are all struggling. What I am asking that when you balance your checking account that you round up to the nearest dollar and please donate the change. My goal is to collect enough money to see a special surgeon at Freodert Hospital in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He would like to see if he can help me have some kind of quality of life and end some of the suffering that I have been enduring for a long time . I would be happy if I even received a little relief. I don't remember what it is like to feel healthy, everyone in this life deserves at least a shot at it... If I am given the help that I need, I fully intend to open my home again as a safe house ( I am not able to do that now because of the leaking illeostmy ) and I would love to a foster mom to any child who needs a good loving and stable home. The way I am right now is horrible ( I have not left my home in over six months excluding doctor appointments) I do realize that some people use these sites for frivilous things and for scamming people. All that that I can do is to give my word that I promise to pay it forward. Like a great deal of the populace, I have found myself, despite tremendous effort, to keep afloat in a series of unfortunate circumstances which are gaining momentum in becoming untenable.
I work my tail off as a domestic, I have no credit cards that I use irresponsibly, or at all for that matter. I care for an emotionally unstable, elderly parent whose home has reached a point of delapidation through her own unsound management of personal finances. The roof leaks whenever it rains, the foundation is cracked and only lastnight, the electrical stopped functioning in a portion of the house.
My ex husband ruined my credit, so no hope of securing a loan and there is no one within my family that posesses the means to assist with the situation.
I have medical bills due to a surgery that was intregal to my being able to maintain a source of income. I am only able to pay my ever increasing monthly premiums for insurance. Barely.
If my employer ever was apprised, to the full extent of my situation, she would be convinced that I would most assuredly be stealing from her, whenever she misplaced something within her 6,000ft. home and I would be terminated despite my devoted service to her family.
I think people don't tend to realize in circumstances such as mine, it makes me all the more dependant on securing an excellent reference to ensure that my options are not severly crippled from that point forward.
However, she isn't a bad person, she just hasn't ever had to struggle like this, so she just doesn't understand how the other half lives.
For years, I have desperately wanted to return to school and something has always been an obstacle: time, money, even a deficit of confidence in my own ability.
I can no longer endure the duress of only just treading water indefinately.
I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and if it does, my mother and I both will be homeless.
Any assistance that in your kindness, you may provide, will not go unappreciated.

I am very shocked to find myself in this position and would never have thought I would ever "beg" but I find I have to try everything possible. My job was outsourced to India and I suffered a HUGE loss in salary. I now have 2 low paying jobs and as luck would have it, everything possible has broke,leaked, or stopped up! My furnace in my house broke, the clothes dryer,dishwasher,stove have all broken in the same month. The toilet upstairs leaks downstairs and the only tub I have is now clogged so that it can't be used. I have already paid hundreds for plumbers and the only solution is now to rip out walls to remove the old pipes to find where clog is. I also now have 2 broken teeth in need of immediate repair before the roots becomes infected. So as I search for a new better paying job I am in desperate need of help. I now know how the early settlers felt having to take a "bath" in the sink. I certainly don't see an employer hiring a stinky 52 year old woman. This has caused me to be behind on my mortgage as well and I am in jeopardy of losing my home.
Any little bit you can give would be helpful and I fully intend to "pay it forward" once I am back on my feet. Thank you all from te bottom of my heart.

I am trying to get my leaky roof fixed. I work part time for minimum wage. I have been trying to get my employer to put me on full time but they will not. I have looked for a full time job or at least another part time with no luck. The amount of money I make barely pays the bills, after food, mortgage, car loan payments, and utilities; I am usually in the red. My roof leaks to the point that some of my ceiling has rotted and fallen (I have multiple buckets to try and keep the water off the floor). There is extensive water damage and mold (I actually found mushrooms growing out of the floor at the corner of a wall inside my bedroom!). There is a spot in the floor outside the bathroom that is sunken and rotted almost through from water damage from the ceiling. My utility bills are increasing because it is getting colder. I was diagnosed with a hyperactive thyroid and I have a small cyst or growth on my thyroid gland. I started experiencing uncontrolled anxiety and fatigue. I went to counseling for the anxiety but it didn’t help much.
I recently moved out of the apartment that was possibly the cause of some of my respiratory problems because we found mold in the hallway outside of our apartment and believed it was in the building too. I have continued to become frequently ill and my fatigue, anxiety, and asthma are making it impossible for me to find a job. I can’t get disability for my asthma because my O2 levels are not low enough.
We moved into a doublewide manufactured home we bought this with a small settlement I received after a truck ran off the road and hit me when I was putting my then 2 year old into her car seat. I was injured but she luckily was ok. The other driver took off on foot. This happened this winter and even after that I have suffered extreme fatigue. Our old car was totaled out and the car we replaced it with turned out to be a lemon. In less than 3,000 miles it blew the transmission and the rear axel broke. It over heated, and we also replaced the battery, 2 pulleys, and the AC went out.

We spent over $4000 in the different repairs on the car and used all of the money from what we had left from the settlement we were going to use to replace the original roof of our house from 1988. Our roof has already had leaks and needs to be replaced

My wife is trying to find work but she has seizures and can’t drive. My wife has only had 2 jobs her whole life and is having a hard time finding work. Now we are in trouble because we have no income and bills keep coming. My parent’s just filed for bankruptcy and cant help us and my wife’s parents are unemployed.

Lot Rent 410.00 per month
Water/trash/sewer $100.00 approximately per month.
Phone and internet for two cell phones $150.00 (my wife and 3 year old have seizures and need a cell phone).
Car and home owner insurance $154.00 per month.
Power bill between $100-$300 per month (I live in phoenix, AZ and it gets hot).
We also are paying $100.00 per month to pay the fee for breaking the lease at the apartment that was causing me to get sick so often. We still owe $1,100.00
