in a couple of weeks i will be homeless. after becoming unemployed two years ago i was living off money which i had from cashing in my retirement account. after taking a couple of months for leisure ( i hadn't had an actual vacation, aside from a long weekend here or there, for the past 12 years) i was in the beginning phase of starting a small business. then i had a heart attack. i had surgery to place a stent in one of my arteries. it seems that i was born with a twisted artery and had been living with it all my life suffering no ill effects. according to my doctor artery walls are fairly thin and pliable when one is young, but as a person ages the walls thicken and become less pliant. when you combine these two factors with the twist of the artery, the result is a cutoff of the flow of blood to the heart. my doctor said that had i waited another day to come into the hospital, i would have died. while the surgery left me weak, it was the anti-rejection medication that i was on which was the problem. it left me so tired and weak, that after a walk to and from the local bodega just two blocks from my apartment , after i walked in the door i had to lay the bags down and sit and rest for a half hour or more, before i could put groceries away or even thinking about standing up and preparing food. quite a change from when i was biking 5 miles a day/ five days a week and lifting weights several times a week. my bank account was swiftly drained due to the cost of the hospital stay/surgery, and to the cost of medications ($130/month).
once i was off the anti-rejection meds and feeling well enough to work, i began searching for a job seeing as my hope of starting a business drained away with the money in my bank account. but unfortunately, with the economy the way it is, i have been unsuccessful in my search. i am now virtually penniless and am being evicted from my apartment. i am have sold off what few possessions i have in order to have some cash to buy the things i need for living on the streets, but the accumulated amount came to less than $100.

Recently, I quit my job and started up my own eBay business. It had been a dream all my life, to own my own business. I started just a few months ago, and everything was going flawless. I have a great supplier, great products, and great customer service, etc. While we were new on eBay, they had set limits on how much we could sell and Paypal put 21-day holds on all our funds, till the customers received their items. It was just recently, that we turned into eBay Powersellers and received the status of "Top Rated Sellers".

Everything was going just perfect, up until recently. My mother-in-law needs a LOT of teeth work done. So, I decided I would list my cherished Jimi Hendrix poster online, to raise funds for her teeth work, because my business was new and not to the point of affording $5000 teeth work. I put it up for a 10-day auction and everything was going just fine. About halfway thru my auction, it was generating bids and lots of interest!

Then, the bottom fell out..... A gentleman from California was interested in our poster, and stated that he would like to purchase it. He said if we took the listing down, he would send us $3500. We agreed and took it down. He paid us within 10 minutes! We thought we had hit the jackpot. Not only was my business taking off, now I could afford my mother-in-laws teeth work! The very next day, I put his poster in the mail and we went to pay the down payment at the dentist and a few other bills off. Everything was looking good. Later that night, I received an email from Paypal, that the buyer had put a claim in! He stated that it was not as described, even though he had not even received it yet! It was still in route, thru the postal service. He had buyers remorse and Paypal froze my funds up.

No big deal, I am an eBay Powerseller, I should be able to make the funds really fast, right? No. When a customer buys something from us, we use their money they just paid us, to purchase their part and have it shipped to them. If my Paypal account is frozen and in the red for $3000, I am not able to sell anything or ship anything off!

Now, Paypal has paid the customer back and I am just sitting here trying to figure out what to do next. My dream I had started and finally got off the ground, is now ruined. I worked 20 hour days to get this off the ground, and now feel like a failure. I cannot do anything until the money is paid back. I have no way of doing anything.

I quit my job to do this and we are now struggling. It actually makes me sick, knowing I tried so hard to get to the Powerseller level, to have it all ruined because a customer wanted his money back on an item I had a "No Refund Policy" on. Paypal ruled in his favor without even talking to me.

My Paypal balance is a -$2741.79. I really need help getting it back to ZERO. Please consider a donation for a guy that is really trying to do something with his life. I am a 40 year old male and have been a failure all my life and now I have something that is working, and just when my family started noticing, my hopes were all dashed again. Failure surrounds me.

Recently, I was arrested on hearsay for a DV charge. The charge was dropped because it was untrue & unjust. I was the one assaulted; the judge concurred. Unfortunately, the altercation occurred at 3am on a Friday morning, on MLK weekend, and so what should've been a 12-hour stay, turned into 5 days. In the interim, my 4-year old daughter was kidnapped by CPS, simply because we have no family there--not for any other reason.
Upon my release, I discover that my daughter's already been handed to a foster home & that a hearing had been set for that morning; no one had even bothered to TRY to contact me about it. In my haste, I rushed to the courthouse next door, oblivious of a marijuana pipe I had in my possession (it may sound cliche, but it wasn't mine; I don't even smoke). I didn't get arrested for having it, but this is where the real problem began.
To make a long story short, I pled guilty ONLY to hurry & get my daughter out of a stranger's house & agreed to have her placed with her VERY part-time father who'd only seen her on average 10 days a year since birth (his choice).
Since then, he's attempted to cut me off from her--denying calls & visits. I obtained an attorney, so thus far I've been allotted ONE day per week for 4 hours to see the child I've raised alone since birth!
Additionally, I've worked for her father for 5 years--he's snatched that from me as well. He went on to choose a facility that costs $180 per visit! So, I have no income now, no employment & I have to drive 7 hours to get there. Friends and family have run out of resources to assist me. I still owe the attorney over $1,000 & until visitation is adjusted I'll have to keep paying this ridiculous amount.
I am not your typical stereotype of this sort of matter. I'm college-educated. So are my parents. I grew up middle-class. This is so unfair to me & my child. I completely loses in my business, i unable to recover some payments from
my clients.one big project , which is higher than my capacity thrown me on
to problems, the project was stopped permanently due to the owner of the
firm was expired suddenly, there is no way to return my money. i am in dept

I know this isn't going to make sense, but I am a technically homeless person staying at a shelter for homeless men in san antonio, texas. I am trying to get ssdi. Please help a struggling student trying to take control of student loans and be in control of life once again. We all want the American dream of owning a home with a white picket fence in the suburbs, while raising a family comfortably. We are told throughout high school and in almost every aspect of society (i.e. television commercials and bill boards) that the only way to achieve this dream is to go to school and earn a degree. Well long story short, while trying to grab my piece of apple pie I acquired an enormous mountain of debt (to the tune of 34K). I was also forced to leave the college that I was attending after just one year because tuition became just too expensive! This debt has followed me like a dark cloud and has become a burden to my young life. Even though the thought of having such a large amount of debt at such a young age is stressful I have continued to keep trying. I have not let it stop me, but it has tremendously slowed my pace to achieve my dream. I’m currently enrolled in junior college but due to the fact I am solely dependent on financial aid my journey is a rough one. I have tried to pay on these loans but with little to no experience my job pool is more like a puddle. The money that I made was just not enough and I feel that I’m in deep trouble. Hi. I am the mother of Jason Mackey who was born with Nemaline Myopathy Neuromuscular Disease (one of the diseases covered by MDA). Jason is 13, is in a wheelchair, has a trach and ventilator, and has home nursing care.

Each year we give back to our community in some way. We generally contribute as much as we can save for: BACH (Brazoria County Association for Citizens with Handicaps), The Pregnancy Help Center, MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association), and Salvation Army. In addition, we consistently give clothing and household item donations to World In Need.

Hello I'm a 38 year old man from Colorado. Late september of 2009 I caught the flu and, became very sick.The flu turned into double pnumonia and on October 3rd 09 I was admitted into I.C.U. and, placed on life support for two months in a coma.During that time I had died several times and, my girlfreind was faced with the decions each time wether or not to have me unplugged and, just let me pass(lucky for me even after she was told I'd possibly be brain damaged, she decided to keep me alive!).A few days after awaking I started to notice severe pain and, tingeling in my feet and,lower legs.I was told this pain would pass as I learned how to walk again,that was FAR from true.I spent months in bed unable to bare pressure on my feet.Then I progreessed a little and, somewhat got around with a walker,then with help of A.F.O. braces,then with a cane and finaly, with orthopedic shoe inserts.Never fully recovering.I've since been diagnosed with Peripherial Neuropathy.I have spent all my savings and monies on medical proceedures,specialty doctors ,medications, supplements,physical therapy,accupuncture,just to name a few.I'm still very sick and,unable to work.I receive Social Security payment but,(although I appriciate it grately and,could not get by witout it)thats not the same as working and the money barely covers my living expenses.I still need lots more medical attention but have no way to pay for it and, my other bills are falling behind as well.I would like to aquire enough funds to pay my bills and,possibly buy some exersise equipment to try and improve my health.I am not the kind of man to ask for help but, I'm desperate and, really don't know what else to do.If anyone who reads this is compelled to help I'd be so very gratefull.Weather or not you decide to help Thank You for taking the time to read my story,And may God bless you all.

I am a single mother of 4 children drowning in debt. I have always worked to provide for my children and myself; however over a year ago I became unemployed from my job. During this time I have struggled to pay my bills which are necessities (such as mortgage, lights, oil, heating, water food etc). Due to the lack of money coming in I am forced to use credit cards to pay these necessities, which are putting me in debt. This debt not only puts a lot of stress on me it is also taking away from my children.

The lack of money and the increase of debt has also put important home repairs on hold. Which if left unattended will cause further damage resulting in more work and money. Some needed improvements are bricks and mortar on my house that are completly cracking and breaking off,and mold growing on the walls of the basement due to moisture leaking through cracks (which is very unhealthy for my children). However even these repairs won't matter if I can't make ends meet I will lose my home with no where to go and no one to turn to for help.

Hello, I lost my job last month and have not found anything permenant, I have worked a few temp jobs but not enough to make rent or bills after we put gas to get me back to work, and contributions would be grealty appreciated.

I want to start off with letting you know that this is very embarrassing to ask for help from strangers but I don't know what else to do. So here it goes.
My husband is in the Army and we have 3 amazing kids ages 9, 7 and 2. We have been married for almost 13 years and have what I like to call "The Picture Perfect Family".
We have recently gotten deep into debt and can't find a way out. This is a last resort to help dig us out.
I have not been able to find work since being stationed in El Paso, everywhere that I have tried requires you to know Spanish, which I do not. I have done babysitting to bring in money but the families that I worked for all moved with the military. Our money is gone as soon as it hits the bank going out to bills and not all of the bills get paid, they just keep adding up. When we think that we are finally getting caught up we get knocked back down again.
My Dad just passed away in January and we had to take out a military loan so that we could fly home. They automatically take out $200 a paycheck and that sets us back even further. Our mortgage check bounced along with two other bills so we have fee upon fee for those.That was just this month and doesn't count the others. The list just goes on and on.
I finally swallowed my pride and went to a food bank last week so that our kids had a warm meal only to be humiliated by the staff that worked there. I was told that since my husband is in the military that we should be financially able to pay our bills and not need a handout. Yes, we do get medical insurance and a steady paycheck but it isn't much. I have sold every unused item in our house and more. I have pawned every piece of gold that I owned and anything else of value. I have taken most of our kids toys to the consignment shop along with most of my clothes.
I am overwhelmed and don't know what to do. If you could help in any way our family would greatly appreciate it. Your help would go towards food for our family and hopefully some catch up on at least our utility bills.

The electricity is 750 behind, with 220 due Tuesday or it's cut off. I haven't bought a single item for my son for Christmas, and the cell phone is being turned off tomorrow ( Though, the cell is the least important). We aren't facing eviction yet, but things have just been rough. An old bill from a long time ago caught up to me and caused a garnishment on my bank account, so everything we had saved when I had my surgery got eaten up with no warning ( apparently, they were sending notices to an address that is NOT current (5+ yrs old) though they HAVE my new address!!!!!)
