We are currently finishing construction on a 2.7 million dollar building that will be used as a community center here in Houston to assist with underpriveliged children, to assist in outreach to other homeless individuals,to function as a auxillary primary school, and to assist as we are able with other community needs. Through generous donations from our neighbors, we have built the entire external structure (approx 1.44 million) leaving only a little more than 1 million dollars left to complete the construction. This is a near and dear thing to my heart, as it's location in Northside houston in a impoverished community would mean so much to helping others in and around the houston area. This community building is sponsored by a local church, which has donated the first several hundred thousand dollars, and we are looking to complete it by November of this year, IF possible. All donors (if they ask) will be given a tax receipt for thier donation, as the organization is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit corporation. A little over a year ago we left Montana in search of something better. My husband got a job as a safety officer for the BP oil spill we packed up our kids our dogs and all our stuff and headed for Pensacola FL. It was not at all what we expected every two weeks we got a check to "Tie Us Over" is what they would always say your full pay will come soon we are still getting everything sorted out. Like so many other people the rest of the money never came the job just ended. Now we are in a legal battle for around 10,000 in back pay. We left Pensacola with about 300.00 in our pocket and stopped at the first big city we could find Houston TX. Hoping this would all be resolved soon we waited. My husband took side jobs to pay for our hotel and food but a couple weeks ago our truck broke down 1800.00 worth of repairs there was no way we could afford that so we sold it for scrape and paid for our hotel. My husband is now working day labor 55.00 a day when he gets work our hotel is 40.00 a day and after that there is nothing we can't get into a position to save any money for a car or an apartment we just need some help to get out of the rut. We need to be able to pay a months rent somewhere so we are able to take on full time jobs and be able to wait the 2 weeks for a check. We don't drink or do drugs we are just an average family in a really messed up spot. I could not afford to pay the premium price to be able to post pictures. But we have three daughter 17 13 and 6. Whatever you can do to help would be such a blessing thank you for time and your help.

I need to get back to Houston Texas from Idaho. I moved here with my youngest two children and my oldest opted to stay and graduate with the people she knows and in her support system of teachers. It wasn't easy, but I had to get out of the abusive situation. It breaks my heart not to be able to get there to see her graduate high school. She has some emotional disabilities and it's been a challenge. Being there for her this time would mean the world to us. She misses us. I would bring here back with me and get her away from the elements here that eat kids like here alive. She has endured so much and going for graduation also would mean i would be there to travel back with her. Total cost is about $1400. I'm selling what little i have, as two kids a dog and i moved here with just a mini van of stuff 6 months ago.Any help at all...

My girlfriend and I are stranded in Houston, Texas after purchasing a car battery that took our remaining 90 dollars. We're currently living in my car.

For three months, we've went from town to town on a limited budget looking for work. Until recently, we hadn't had much luck. We've spent hours applying to jobs all across the country and at home in Louisiana. Last night, we received a promising opportunity in New Orleans, and with less than a hundred dollars, we were ready to leave immediately.

Unfortunately, our battery was dead. A gentleman tried jumping us off, but that didn't work. He took me all around to find a battery that I could afford, and it completed emptied my funds.

We're only asking for enough money to get to New Orleans, which is about 45 dollars. We have food in the car, so we are fine on that front. In order to take advantage of our opportunity, we need to be in New Orleans by Wednesday.

I am a stage 4 cancer patient (lymph nodes, liver, and lung) I have been receiving treatment for the last 14 months, and I am now completely out of money. I am divorced, I have 2 kids which my exwife has custody of. A few months ago I decided to go back to work, and that just is not working to the fullest. I cant make it a full day without getting so run down that i have to leave. I try and go every day, but realistically, i get about 20 hours in a week at a time, which is enough to cover my insurance copays.

I am looking for help because my situation has gone from bad to worst. I have been battling a medical condition called Ankylosing spondylitis. Then, of all things my car breaks down. Since there is no public transportation, I need help getting my car fixed. If I can just get some help with the repairs to my car, we can make it.
We have sold everything we could sale, we have cut back on food to 2 meals a day and we have no extra anything. This has been going on for almost a year. We have been denied social security benefits as well as medicaid, which is in appeals, but in the mean time, I need to get to work.

Sorry for my sobb story I know there is others who are worse off than us. I am a strong believer that God has us on a bungie cord he will let us almost reach the ground but it depends on our faith and hope that we bounce back up. I am a mother of one beautiful angelnames israel. I'm a loving wife who will do anything for her family. I have stuck by my husband in the last 2 years of unemployment. Or while he has small contracts. I've been working two dead end jobs and recently lost one. Living on a 200 dollar a week paycheck is a major struggle. I often have no gas and walk 5 miles to work. Our power was out for 3 days in houston weather. Our car needs a new starter, which if I do have gas I have to pop the hood everytime I start it. Our rent is almost due and I can't do it. I'm always paying past due stuff or late fees. I go days not eating just so my son can. I'm weak tired and scared. I have to stay strong. My wonderful son understands and offers me his pennys to pay rent. My husband had a nervos breakdown and wanted to die.I had to stay calm and help him. We have no family to help. I can't get anymore loans. I'm looking for another server job. He is continuing to send out resumes. I'm pleading for help. I need help. I have to pay my rent. Its 725 I have to pay by the 3rd. Hi, my name is koko. I am trying to attend my previous university but I have no money. My mother filed me on her taxes this past april even though she didnt even financially support me for the yr 2010. I walked to my entire senior year of high school. She would sometimes withold my medication for my brain tumor. She would kicked me out one time because she didnt support my decision to go out of town to see my grandmother, needless to say, she makes/made so much money that I was only ONLY given a 200 dollar pell grant from the goverment which is nowhere near the amount of money I need for this semesters tuition and fees. I was able to take out subsized and unsubsidized loans but they only let me take out a small amount b/c my mothers income. My mom didnt support my decision to go to my university. She wont help me pay for my education and she is refusing to help me get a loan. She also didnt even give me any money from her tax return, or anything. Please help me and my father gives every reason in the book as to why he "cant" help me. Any little bit will help. I am a college freshmen trying to go back to the University of Houston. Hi my name is Tanya L. I really don't know how to begin this is my first time ever asking strangers for help, but I'm extremely desperate. My 20 year old daughter has landed herself in Harris County jail here in Houston Texas. I'm needing to raise $10,000 dollars for an attorney. My daughter changed overnight, she went from a responsible young lady that was attending University of Texas in Austin, where she was studying to be a criminal attorney how ironic. We the family was so proud, all of sudden everything about her was different, her roomate call me and explain to me who my daughter was keeping company with and it was a bad crowd and she herself believe my daughter was on meth. I've raised my daughter as a single mother with very little help from her father. I thought we had beaten the odds, how painfully wrong I was. I traveled to Austin to see for myself and I was there for 3days before I made contact with my daughter. On day 2 I filed a missing report on my daughter, thank God she showed up unharm but clearly on drugs. I brought her home to Houston where it worsened and she was arrested twice for controll substance, which is a 3rd degree felony and now she faces 2-20years in prison. She truly is a good kid and she's begging me to help her and financially I just don't have it. Every lawyer I talk to is asking for $10k-15k and the price goes up if we take it to trial. Please if you can spare just a little, anything, I will be, there's no words to express how I would feel, extremely and utterely grateful. I know my daughter has broke the law and she should be held accountable, but she needs treatment not jail,the other inmates bullies her because she cries alot when she's on the phone and durning visits, its considered "weak". As a parent that kills me, I wish I could change places with her. Please help me hire a good lawyer for my daughter. I'm told with a skillfull attorney he could argue for Safe P its a drug program here in Texas. I'm all she has and you guys are all I have. Please, even the smallest will add up. My name is James, I live in Texas(outside of Houston). I need help to find full time employment,i have been unemployed since November of last year, but not for lack of trying. unemployment running out soon and i don't know if i will have a place to live let alone gifts for my kids at Christmas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Unemployment only covers the basics, such as rent, utilities and food. I have never been in this situation before

I moved to Austin, Texas in february from Phoenix, but cannot find work here and want to try Houston. I am looking for $100 to cover Greyhound fare and some food/public transit expenses. This is ideally needed by July 31st, 2010.
