Hi, I'm Alexandra and I'm 20 year old working college student in San Jose, Ca. I was in a car accident this past sunday, February 19th in Los Angeles while on vacation. I just bought my car all by myself a month ago and thought I succeeded another milestone in life. I have full coverage on my 2006 Honda Accord but my insurance company decided to triple my deductible (not my rate) from $1000 to $3000 so I would basically be paying for my own repairs and medical bills (I have a sprained neck, back, and wrist but luckily I have health insurance). My insurance company left me stranded in the middle of a Los Angeles street with my crashed car. They wouldnt even tow my car back home or to where I was staying. I know it doesnt sound right and I already have filed a case against the insurance company about that with the California Dept of Insurance and with 7 on your side (the news station). I'm basically scrambling to find a mechanics shop to fix my car for a reasonable price since I do not have $3000 upfront. If you dont know how far San Jose is from Los Angeles, that is about an 8 hour drive. I have no way of getting to school or work and sadly I have contemplated quitting school to work a second job which was totally against everything I believe. I dont want to have to end my college career due to this. I honestly do not have anywhere or anyone else to turn to for help. This is basically my last call for help and will be making a decision soon about what to do. I'm only asking for $1500 out of a total of $4500 because I honestly feel bad for having to ask but I would really appreciate the help. Thank you.

I have a 1995 Honda automobile which is my only kind of transportation. It needs the engine to be repaired and new tires as well. The windshield is cracked and needs to be replaced. Any help will be appreciated.

I am a 49 year old college student who is in desperate need help. I raised two wonderful children who are now grown,sucessful, and on their own. My life changed 8 years ago when my daughter now 20 got sick from toxic mold that was in our apartment. I gave up my job to take care of her and now that she is on her own, not far short of a miracle,I have hit the bottom of the barrel. I am an honor student at KCKCC and will recieve my AA in May of 2012. I have been served with eviction papers and my 92 Honda Accord is on its last mile,315,000,miles later I doubt it will make it through the winter. I work at school part time,all that is allowed, and my dad helps me when he can. He is 79 years old and lives on a fixed income in California. When my daughter left home in May I no longer could afford the rent and bills on our place to live and am now 5 months behind and Wednesday is my court date for the eviction. My gas and electric are in danger of getting cut off and it really doesnt matter since I have no where to live. I have promised my dad that I will finish school no matter what and quite honestly I dont know if that will happen. I had to take a payday loan and title loan on my car so that I could pay my rent in July that all back fired and I now am overdrawn in my bank account as well and hiding my car from the repo guy. I have borrowed money from 4 different people and now they are all over me for repayment. When I quit my job 8 years ago to take care of my daughter because that is what a mother does my credit was ruined. The pieces just keep falling and at times I cant see the end of the tunnel. Just one chance to get out of this mess financially and have a decent place to live and a decent car that runs would make life a whole lot easier. My dad could enjoy his retirement and I could fulfill my promise to him. My daughter has 400.00 worth of medicine she has to have monthly and I help her before I pay my own bills because I feel that's what I should do. I have no medical or dental insurance and have several things wrong with several teeth. I havent had my blood pressure medicine in one year and it would be nice to be able to make sure I am physically well. Please help please help please help.

Ive been on my own since 13 ive never met my father as he cheated on my mom when i was a baby and they went through a divorce. It always stuck with my mom and she lost interest in a lot of things and was depressed She abandoned me when i was about 13 and started dating a drug dealer in modesto i moved in with some of my friends and did the best to raise myself i did a lot of bad things when i was younger i had no role models and did whatever i could to survive and i never got to experience a lot of things like sports baseball football i didnt have money for equipment and stuff and no time i was always busy trying to get money for clothes i used to eat our schools one dollar lunch everyday. By the time i was 18 i met the girl of my dreams at a local movie theater she was from the philipines and was petitioned by her family and was staying with a local governement housing at the time. I started turning my life around for the positive and learned a few trades and took a few classes and workshops for building. at 19 i was working as an assistant to a private contractor i learned everything i needed to know and by the time of 20 i was doing private work myself and at 21 i got my first house with the luck of a friend who worked as a realator. We used to live in the central valley Fresno Ca to be exact and we owned a two bedroom one bath house. We had one truck was a Chevy pickup 1500 i used for work and our family car it was paid off. The economy hit hard in the central valley and many contractors went out of work and the prices of homes dropped and our home was foreclosed as we couldnt make the payment and we lost everything. We remained positive with all the negative that happened and we were homeless for a while we sleeped at a church while selling what little furniture we had from our house and save. At the time my wife was pregnant and we were ready to start our family and everything went wrong. We did what was right kept our baby and after talking we moved to the central coast there was no opportunity in the central valley as a lot of businesses went down and everything was going bad. We moved to another one of the churches branches so that i could get on my feet over in Monterey. I quickly got a job as a Server at a private restaurant after applying for many jobs i dont make much and after a few months our baby was born at this time we were able to get a one room studio its very small but rent is so expensive $750 my number one priority is my son and providing i work three days at the restaurant and on my days off i offer services on craigslist to help fix computers car detailing and early mornings i get up at 6am and go to the local home depot and look for work lots of builders go there and sometimes they need extra help. Unfortunately im younger and rarely get picked compared to older because they dont think im experienced i was lucky to get a few jobs though as side work past few months. My wife stays home and cares for the baby since we have no family to help out she cant work at this time. Im doing my best to provide we have no tv no internet no computer nothing except a bed crib a few cooking supplies and a fridge ironing board and iron but were content. But sometimes work is slow and we had no money for food and we have gone to local shelters for food. We mostely eat rice and pastas since its cheap. We only buy expensive foods for the baby and only have cell phones. I had to sell my truck a while back and have recently got an old small honda i cant even afford to put tires on at this time. Im doing my best and taking day to day with the hope something good will happenen. Work is slow and i have no family at all and my wifes family is very poor in the philipines. I did my best to sumarize my life and try to prove i am a real person in a real situation and im in need at this time. Any and everything helps. My family thanks you.

This is a rather strange incident that happened not too long ago. I had just completed some training and certification for employment, and I took my wife out to celebrate the accomplishment. We decided to go to Panda Express for dinner. After we ate, I opened my fortune cookie, and it simply stated: "Your luck will change.". I thought to myself, what an unusually bold statement for a fortune cookie. Anyhow, I thought nothing of it and went on with my day. The following week, I was on my way to work and my car just stalled. I could not restart the engine even though it had gas and a rather new battery. I had it towed to the dealership where they informed me that one of the rods in the engine was bent. The car is a 1994 Honda Civic EX, and it only has about 112 thousand miles on it. Anyhow, the price for a refurbished engine from the dealership with a 3 year warranty for that model of car is: $3,400. With the economy the way it is, I don't have that type of money saved up, so I am asking for any assistance to be able to get enough money to pay for this engine.

In 2008, I sold my 2003 Honda CRV, that was nearly paid off, after I had been laid off for an extended period of time. I knew that I couldn't make the payments and I really didn't want to loose the car, so I sold it. I spend about 3 months without a car, and then my father gave me my deceased grandfather's 1995 Ford van. The van is barely hanging on and my financial situation has been repeatedly sunken by an ongoing custody battle regarding my 2 sons.

I broke down and replaced all four tires on the van before winter came, but drive very limited amounts because of the overall condition of the car. My credit took a tumble when I was laid off in the middle of 2007, but I have told my children that we will continue to drive the van until I can buy a Honda Element.

Although it may seem excessive, it is the car I want and am willing to sacrifice for. Right now, we are dependant on other people to make longer trips because the van won't start after 2-3 stops and starts.

I would really like to be able to purchase a used Element by summer so we are not trapped into not going anywhere. Every penny counts, and i would appreciate any donations that I receive. I am truly just trying to get our life back on track, and the car is a major focal point in being able to do that.
