My husband is a disabled, retired Army veteran. About 10 years ago he purchased a camp in Maine that he planned to fix up and move into for his retirement. Unfortunately he has suffered flood damage twice, once he had flood insurance, or thought he did, but the insurance company refused to pay saying they hadn't processed the payment on the day he opened the policy and the flooding occured over the weekend so he was not covered! The second flooding FEMA came in and didn't bother going under the house so they only gave him $800! Both times the flooding destroyed all the insulation and a great deal of work. He now has to jack up the house, have a foundation put in, then level everything in the house. He cannot live there. He applied for an equity loan from the bank as the property is valued at $139K and there is no mortgage. But we have moved to Nevada as I was offered a job here that paid better than back east. We want nothing more than to get this house fixed up in Maine so we can either sell it or possibly retire there. Right now if someone was willing to give an equity loan of $40,000, we would take that instead of begging. Please consider helping us before this Maine house gets flooded again and we lose everything there. If each person who reads this can only give $1, it wouldn't take long to reach our goal and then we could give back in the future!

Hi I am a 25 yr old male, who is a single father. I recently lost my job that I was with for seven years.
I am about to lose my apartment and car also. I don't have any family to run to for help, my main goal is just to have a roof over my son's head my rent is 560 a month. I spent 5 years working so hard to achieve my goal of becoming the first person in my family to get their college degree. One year shy of graduating I was hospitalized and diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I really need help, I couldn't sleep tonight. I actually googled , "I am about to get evicted and I need help paying rent" and this website came up so here I am. If this site really works and there is anyone out there willing or able to help I sincerely need you now! My rent including late fee is $725 and as of today I m 21 days late and only have $80. The reason for this is that I work part time and get paid every 2 weeks. While my pay is usually enough to cover this, I did fracture my toe and sprain my ankle 2 weeks ago causing me to miss a week from work. We have tapped every credit card, and can't pay their monthly bills and fees. We have ruined our credit, believing if we could hold back the storm, and continue to help those we serve, we would be alright on the other end.
NOW, as home prices are finally in reach, we find that we can no longer qualify for the loan that would get us, and our five sons into a new home. With home costs once nearing and surpassing $200K, we can now buy the perfect home for $50K. That's what we're asking for now: $50K!! Banks, once far too anxious to give loans for over-priced homes to people who could not afford them, now turn us away for a much more reasonable loan that would actually lower our monthly expenses by almost 1/2. We now watch as wealthy investors snatch up the homes once financed by real families and foreclosed on. But in the time it takes to rebuild the credit we need to get financed, these moguls will have all of the properties and be renting them out to all of us who could not hope to own under these terms.

My name is Sadie, I am 25 and I am from the UK. 3 years ago my twin sister went to Australia for 2 months but never came back. She struggled to find work after graduating in England and felt prospects were much better in Australia.

I have always felt like my life is on hold until she returns - but until then I dream of going over there to see her. Maybe even suprise her! She has a new life now but I am desperate to go and see her for a holiday and meet her new friends.

Flights are really expensive - they are at a minimum about £1000. I have been trying to save and have managed to save £125 so far but I am a long way from my goal and would like to see her soon :)

I am seeking help to pay for my son's college tuition and associated fees. My son has been accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. It is an honor for anyone to be accepted to this esteemed institution, however my son's story is quite exceptional. When he was 10 years old, he nearly lost his right arm due to a post-surgical bleed. He was diagnosed with a bleeding disorder known as von Willebrands. He has been left with a disabled arm and hand. He only has use of his thumb on his right hand. His childhood was comprised of surgeries and infusions. When he was 12 years old, he asked if he could buy a guitar. He was so happy because he had seen Tommy Emmanuel playing guitar with a thumb pick on television. He purchased the guitar and began working on a technique to play. He can only use his thumb to pick the guitar strings and must hold his fingers in a special position so that he does not mute the strings. His goal since age 12 has been to study at Berklee. It is an honor to be accepted to such a fine school. Despite a severe disability he has been able to achieve this remarkable goal. Financing his education is going to be extremely difficult. Berklee is an expensive college and scholarships seem scarce. If you know of any scholarships that would be available for him please let me know. I am a 39-year-old woman living in the Nashville area who has been off of work without pay for the last month. Though I am employed full-time, I have run out of paid time off and am currently on medical leave until I can have back surgery. The surgery itself is not complicated, but it would entail 3 days of a hospital stay, 2 weeks of physical therapy to assist in regaining my mobility, and 4-5 more weeks off before I can return to work. This surgery, though necessary, was unanticipated and I do not have money saved to sustain myself for another 2 months off. I do not have children, so I am ineligible for cash assistance through local government. I do not have short-term disability through my employer. I am ineligible for short-term disability through the government because my condition does not require that I am off work for 12 months, nor will it result in my death. I am also not being allowed to withdraw from my retirement for hardship reasons because, according to them, I am -only- contributing the mandatory amount. I also do not have -perfect credit- so I am unable to go out and obtain a loan for what I need. I have tried so many avenues and have hit dead ends each time. My goal is to raise $2500 to cover rent and expenses for up to three months: 2 months of actual recovery time and an additional months worth for incidentals and to give me time to return to work and have regular paychecks come in. Please help so that I can regain my ability to walk without pain and return to work. Thank you.
