Post a Beg Now!

At my wits end...please help!!

Posted by whitebear on 2012-05-08 18:58:48

Four years ago our house was paid for. The only debt that we had was $13,000 for a camping trailer.

17 years ago I worked for a Fortune 500 company. I got sick at work due to chemicals and they fired me. My doctor said that I can only work from home. I can’t find a company that will allow me to do that. My husband had a good job as a union truck driver but the company closed his terminal so he also lost his job.

Before my husband lost his job the FMCSA made him get an exemption to drive. He was off from work for 9 months. Then he had to have 2 hips replaced and was off again for 3 months. During that time we had some major expenses like a new well and furnace. Two weeks after my husband lost his job our home was flooded and our insurance didn‘t cover anything. I also lost my car that was 11 years old. I now drive one that’s 15 years old and my husband drives one that’s 12 years old. My husband did get another job 3 weeks after he lost his but he makes 1/3 of what he did.

During the time that he was off from work and since he lost his good job we wanted to keep our bills paid and our credit good. We were forced to use our home equity loan. Now we are almost at the limit of $100,000. With the housing market falling our house is now worth about half of what it was. We owe way more than what it is worth. I’m am afraid that we are going to lose our house. This has caused marriage problems between my husband and I. I am depressed and anxious most of the time.

My prescriptions alone are $1260 a month. The year before last my husband made less than $28,000. This year he did make over $30,000. We make just enough that we are not in poverty. So, we do not qualify for any assistance. What kind of help is available for the poor working middle class that is trying to keep their bills paid?

Broken furnace

Hi my name is Jeff I live here in NV. I’m not sure about this, I never been in such a need for money before let alone having to ask is not easy for me, I know a lot of people are struggling. Not too long ago we had the best economy in the US, now it is the worst. Getting a full time job here is almost impossible, my wife used to be an Accountant; I use to work as a service technician for a water company. My wife got laid off 3 yrs ago and now works pt. for Jack in the Box. I got laid off 2 yrs ago. It took me 6 months just to find pt. work for a Rent a Car agency. We managed ok using are credit cards hoping things would become better. We ended using all are credit and had to file bankruptcy. To make matters worse I ended up getting fired from my pt job, Due to a sleep disorder from depression and anxiety I have, I ended up crash testing too many of our rental cars. We are now 3 months behind on our Mortgage about $2400 And to top it off our home furnace went out 2 months ago we have nothing left for any expenses, its taking everything we have left to pay our bills and child support in which I refuse to get behind on my son and wife are my life, I just wish we could feel warm again. Our furnace could be repaired for about $2000 but any donation would be very grateful. Thank you so much Jeff

Furnace Failure

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read the dilemna. I am writing on behalf of my daughter and two small grandsons. The oil heating furnace has failed in her home, there are only two electric baseboards in a family room installed separately which are providing any heat. Quotes for replacing the system are from $7900 to $12000! We are trying to raise $7900 the cheapest replacement. Please find it in your heart to help us. We appreciate any help!

Overwhelmed with flood damages and the repair expenses

After being away since 1997, I've come back to care for my disabled mother. I myself have degenerative bone and disc disease of the spine. Making it impossible for me to do any of the labor. The building use to be a bar with an apartment upstairs. Due to her disabilities, she lives on the bar level. Years ago they had a porch added, which is partially cantilevered improperly. Someone installed a shower on the bar level, in the process, they cut a main beam rather than get a longer piece of pipe. I'm not able to find out when the unit was installed, but it was long enough ago that now the bar level bathrooms(yes, both mens and ladies rooms are still in there), and the apartment floors are all sloped. If memory serves me, lolly columns should stop/possibly reverse this.
The well is working when it wants to, the water runs, then shuts itself off, anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes later, it comes back on. The furnace had a burned out blower part which I'm paying the bill off, leaving less than $75 cash after covering the expenses of this building each month. And the plumber said it would be close to $200 just to start fixing the well issue. Not even knowing if it is the pump or not.
The weather here is too much for my body without access to hot water therapy. I don't know how long it will be before I can no longer handle the pain in these temps. I am rather desperate for any help at all. I'm 46, single, and have no one to help me without paying hefty fee's. This building is in dire need of repairs. If anyone could please find it in their heart to help two women that have no one to lend a hand...PLEASE HELP?
Thank you for reading and have an outstanding day!

Please help me get out from under this dark cloud following me

I am very shocked to find myself in this position and would never have thought I would ever "beg" but I find I have to try everything possible. My job was outsourced to India and I suffered a HUGE loss in salary. I now have 2 low paying jobs and as luck would have it, everything possible has broke, leaked, or stopped up! My furnace in my house broke, the clothes dryer, dishwasher, stove have all broken in the same month. The toilet upstairs leaks downstairs and the only tub I have is now clogged so that it can't be used. I have already paid hundreds for plumbers and the only solution is now to rip out walls to remove the old pipes to find where clog is. I also now have 2 broken teeth in need of immediate repair before the roots becomes infected. So as I search for a new better paying job I am in desperate need of help. I now know how the early settlers felt having to take a "bath" in the sink. I certainly don't see an employer hiring a stinky 52 year old woman. This has caused me to be behind on my mortgage as well and I am in jeopardy of losing my home.
Any little bit you can give would be helpful and I fully intend to "pay it forward" once I am back on my feet. Thank you all from te bottom of my heart.

I am supporting a family of seven, with no job. I had to leave my job 19 months ago because of death threats. My corporate office denied my using the police or any other avenues to resolve the issues I was having with ex-employees I had to let go, so I decided to quit my job in lieu of being murdered. I worked in KC, MO on Troost Avenue, where there was literally a murder every couple weeks within a few blocks. I did recieve unemployment, but the job market is extremely poor at the moment in my experience. I do have a degree from a technical institute, and a four year degree from university, here and abroad. I am not lazy or ignorant, just cannot support my family. Anything helps, I do not have heat for my house even this winter, the furnace went out and no way to fix it. My children are 10, 9, 8, 5, and 1 year old, four boys and finally a baby girl. Please... I have no form of bank account, and credit has gotten so bad I cannot even get a paypal account.

Furnace Broken

Posted by astralwizard85 on 2011-11-01 12:58:13

My wife and I both work full time, at minimum wage jobs. She's also a full time student, studying to become a veterinary technician. My 6 year old son is in the 1st grade. We recently moved to a mobile home in the country to cut our cost of living, and spent our savings fixing the trailer to make it livable. Winter came too quickly here in the midwest, and our furnace quit working. We received a quote for almost 300.00 to fix it, and I was told at that time that for 300.00 I could also get an energy efficient model installed new.

I'm not usually the type of person that asks for help, but we've been using our stove to stay warm at night in the 20 degree weather. We're afraid that our pipes are going to burst in this cold which would cost us even more.

We're living check to check and can barely keep afloat, even working full time. We make just a little too much to qualify for assistance like Food Stamps or medical card.

If anyone can help at all, even 5.00 will help put us closer to staying warm this winter. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.

Help me move back to San Francisco

Posted by ileftmyheart on 2011-07-25 21:58:06

I am a middle-age gay man. I lived for nearly 16 years in San Francisco. I moved there from East Tenn. in 1994.
I had to leave SF in 2009 because my various illnesses (diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, and bipolar disorder) made it impossible for me to continue to work. I lost 4 out of the last 5 jobs I held.
I couldn't cont. to pay my rent in SF and was facing homelessness. I ended up back in East Tenn.
I can't begin to tell you how awful it is to be gay and living in the buckle of the "Bible Belt". It's like a blast furnace of hate is beating down on me at all times.
SF is a wonderful place. I'd rather be homeless in SF than to be housed in East Tenn.
If you know anything about San Francisco you know it's one of the most expensive cities on the planet.
I have a small income from Social Security--enough to rent a small place. But I need help getting there.
I am looking for $10,000--enough to move, enough for first and last month's rent, utility deposits, and enough to furnish a small place in the Tenderloin.
By the way, I do not use drugs (never have), don't drink (never have), don't smoke (never have), and have never had legal problems. I have a Master's Degree in Social Work. I worked in medical centers and nursing homes for 20+ years.
I am hoping to find someone with a big enough heart to help us out here. We have two children, 9 and 6, myself and my husband, and my step-mother. My husband hurt his arm in 2007 at work, and we are still in court with his former employer, because he lost use of his right arm. So he is unable to work, and we receive welfare money. I am a really bad type 1 diabetic and have been since I was 5, and am unable to maintain proper employment, so I am on on SSD. We also have my father's (he passed away at Christmas in 2010) fiance, who is may as well be a step-mother to me who lives with us, who has 3 types of cancer, all stage 4, and she is bedridden, and very very sick. (and she is only 57) We lost our baby son to SIDS in 2009, and things have just kept up being really difficult for us, everytime we almost catch up on bills, somebody dies or gets sick, or the car breaks, and then we end up borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. We have a really old house (pre-civil war) which is hard to keep heated in the winter, and hard to keep cool in the summer, and cant afford to fix the furnace, the water tanks, or the windows. Our car is a '99 van thats falling apart worse every day, and alls we do is drive to doctors and the grocery store. I am at the end of the rope here with being able to sell off any collectibles or music, or electronics that we have, I've been recycling bottles from family members, and saving up all the change we find, but it just isn't enough. My kids, I can't even afford them new summer clothes, and they're both growing like weeds. I have been lucky that I always prepare for the worst, and so I have a bunch of canned food, and we have a few chickens that give us eggs, but we are on our way to sinking beyond the point of saving. Please, we are good God-fearing people, we aren't out to buy ourselves some tv or motorcycle, we have no credit card debt, cuz we think its bad to do that, we just have nothing left to give. I would like to be able to fix our furnace, and insulate our hotwater tank, and maybe be able to fix our car better than we've been doing with metal tape and putty. I would like to be able to get a bag of fresh vegetables and fruit for the kids to stay healthy, and I would like to be able to pay our bills this month.

Need help to pay my bills ...

Posted by sunshinenroses0 on 2011-05-16 16:58:30

I have never done anything like this before, or been on social aid or anything like that. I have worked very hard for everything I have and full time since I was 16... I worked for an automobile repair company, and was recently laid off-no warning-just one day poof! job gone! The employers that I had were wonderful to work for, as I have LUPUS and diabetes, and were very understanding, as sometimes I was quite sick. Mu furnace and hot water tank had to be replaced in february, and now with no savings, I find myself in a situation that is not good, and dont know where else to turn...I need to put food on the table for my daughter and I, and pay the bills. I have found someone willing to hire me, but the job doesn't start until the end of May, and still will have to wait a month to get paid. My mortgage is overdue, my loan payment for my car is past due, my house insurance is due tomorrow, and utility bills hanging over my head have got me stressed to the max. I beg of you to help me get over this hump..any amount will help. Thank you sooo soo much...God bless!!

Single mom battling cancer and need new furnace

Posted by cadams0207 on 2010-11-07 14:58:58

Lost my husband and daughter in a car accident. Which left me a single mother of one beautiful baby boy. I am in my early 30's and found out in September 2010 that I have cancer. It has been a battle for me. I was forced to go out of work on a disability. I am not making much money on disability and struggling to keep the roof over my son's head. The heat exchanger of my furnace has a huge crack in it and the furnace is no longer operable. I have shopped around for a new furnace and the absolute cheapest I could find is one for $3,000. I am not able to afford that at all. I have asked everyone I could think of for help, my family, friends, even co-workers but no one is able to help me out in this tough time. Winter is upon us and we are cold. I even went to Welfare and was denied help as I make $100 above the poverty level for a family of two, even being on disability. Please, if anyone can help my son and I out as we are without heat. I would be forever grateful in this time of need.

Improve My Outlook on Life

Posted by kelright21 on 2010-09-19 18:58:58

My name is Kelli. I am 34 years old, and I live in the great state of West Virginia. My childhood wasn’t all that great, and I never received life lessons. By the time I was 17, my credit was shot, and I was living with an undiagnosed mental illness. I have since gotten help and learned my own life lessons. I have 2 wonderful daughters, one of whom is autistic. I want them to have those happy memories that I never had. I am on a fixed income, and I abide by a very strict budget. My children will never know my worries because I wouldn’t want them to carry that burden with them. I learned how to fix my credit, and I bought us a home with the help of some government financing. My mortgage is the first bill I pay every month, and that never leaves much. With a fixed income, I will never be able to give my girls financial help, but I hope to teach them life lessons, so that they know the value of health, happiness, and a dollar. There are four things that I need help with, and I hope one day to somehow achieve all four. The first is to pay off our furnace. We still owe $1452 on our furnace, and as they did set me up on a payment plan, this payment causes me to fall behind on other bills and groceries. The second thing I want is a fence. My youngest daughter does not understand boundaries, nor does she recognize danger. She is cooped up inside most of the time because of this. I would love for her to be able to play freely and safely. Every child deserves this. The third thing that we want is carpet. Our floors, when we bought the home, are all hardwood, and not in great shape. They have become a danger, as my children sometimes fall down. The last and final thing that would improve our lives immensely is a car. Before we purchased our home, we lived closer to family and friends, but now we have a difficult time getting around. We live in a rural area without public transportation or taxi service. With these four things, our lives would be pretty close to perfect. Sounds simple enough, but seems like a far away dream. We appreciate anything that can be done. And I guess our most pressing need would be the payoff on the furnace. The other three things aren’t really detrimental, but would greatly improve our outlook on life. Thanks!

Young Family in Need of a New Home .. ASAP

We moved into our current home in July of this year... and just fond out some news about the house that was not disclosed to us before we rented the unit. The house was condemned less then 5 years ago, the owner did the minimum amount of work to allow the property to "pass" to be able to be rented out again, another issue is the "inspector" is apparently friends with the landlord... apart from that there is multiple issues within both units of the house, when ever we use our washer it basically empties into part of basement as well as leaks into the other units basement... (Washer is on main floor) granted the house is an older house, it still shouldn't be this way... I have a young family kids age 10 , 4 and 9 months and my wife is a severe asthmatic, I am concerned that once we turn on the heat any mold that is in the basement area will travel and grow with the heat from the furnace not to mention what might come out of the vents ... I NEED to get my family out of this house before anyone gets sick...as of right now its only me working and as I said just moved in at the start of July , WE need OUT ASAP and need a bit of help for first and last on another place or a down payment for a house... IF there is anyone out there that can lend a helping hand we would be forever grateful.... thanks Jay
