Help me get to the 2012 Disc Golf World Championships!
Posted by StrongHeart on 2012-04-27 15:58:11
My husband has been out of a job for over a year now and we've been struggling to pay mortgage and electric enough as is. I work full time but it's not easy to live off one income. Until he finds a job, for which he is constantly searching, I don't have any extra money in my budget for extras like tournaments but this is such a great opportunity for me.
I need all the help I can get and every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated! I am going to be fundraising locally to help cover the cost of hotel accommodations.
Help support women in disc golf!
Please save my life from crumbling further

Help us Help Vinnie
Posted by Xgirl on 2012-04-06 10:58:15
My sister and I (who have the fragile x gene and are affected in ways other than mentally) desperately want and need to go to the Fragile X International conference in Miami in July this year. But we live in New Zealand and it is going to cost about 16 grand to get there. They are doing workshops on the latest techniques to get through to kids like Vinnie.
Our mother has dementia and this will be the last time my sister will be able to leave her as she deteriorates, I have custody of my disabled sister and this year have someone who will look after her while I am gone... We so need to understand this horrible disorder that has so changed our lives.
We will be among only a handful of people from our country going and we will be teaching other families who are dealing with Fragile X the methods we learn when we return.
Please help us, we are fundraising as much as we can and selling off everything that we can but it is not enough as all our money goes to helping Vinnie and mum and my sister.

Endurance paddle planned Charitable feat could wind up in record books
Posted by kieubanks on 2012-04-02 21:58:06
For kayaker Steven Banks, it is going to be more about physical as well as mental endurance rather than simply covering a set distance around Marco, Goodland and Cape Romano.
Banks, owner of Dreamlander Tours, on April 20 will set out on a 24-mile round trip he estimates will take about 24 hours, including a night stop on the water in the vicinity of Cape Romano when he will be on his own without a back-up team.
He is attempting the feat to raise money for three of his pet charities, the Impact community outreach ministry overseen by local pastor Ben Sprankle; a Malawi, Africa, charitable medical clinic called Partners in Hope; and a Cuaravac, Mexico, mother who is blind and has an epileptic son.
A poignant Marco Island connection is that another of her sons, Benito, worked on the island, raised a family, but died in 2011 from meningitis following a mosquito bite.
Banks had befriended Benito.
âBefore he passed, he asked to make sure his mother and brother were taken care of,â Banks said.
A trip to Mexico to meet them prompted Banks to do everything he can for them, and his goal is to have them come to the United States for treatment.
Banks has called his fundraising paddle Kayak Marco 24.
It will consist of the 24-hour paddle that may incur inclement weather and unpredictable winds, put him at risk during the Cape Romano solo stop, and put strain on his body because of being out on the water for such an extended time.
But he is not too worried about that aspect.
As a hands-on guide, he paddles up to five or six hours at least three times a week, so has plenty of residual paddling fitness.
Still, he said, the length of time he will spend out on the water represents an unpredictable challenge, so he is avoiding any kind of complacency.
Banksâ route is not a fixed affair either, other than he starts and finishes at the Snook Inn.
While winds are unpredictable from this far out, tides are not, so Banks is studying charts and conferring with some of his charter fishing captain friends to map out the best places to try to be at certain times.
The combination of headwinds as well as fighting an in- or outgoing tide could be formidable, he said.
If the going is really good, he added, he will probably put in extra miles.
The kayak Banks plans to paddle is not the sleek, 17-foot kind that could zip around Marco, Goodland and Cape Romano in a matter of a few hours.
He will be using an ordinary, fairly short and stable craft that doesnât have much gliding ability, so every stroke will count.
While Banksâ sole motivation for the endurance paddle is for his three pet causes, a cherry on top may come in the form of recognition by the Guinness Book of Records.
The category would be âlongest nonstop time period for a single person kayaking.â
The recognition would be subject to correct and exhaustive documentation, Banks said.

We are a travel baseball team consisting of 12 year old boys. Our boys live in Hemet/San Jacinto and the Banning/Beaumont Pass area in Southern California. We are trying to raise money to go to Cooperstown, New York in July 2012. We would apprecieate any support to help us reach our goal of $25,000. So far through multiple fundraising events we are about half way to out goal. Any amount would help, even just a $1.

Operation hope - raising money to help my sister with NF1 get her dream
Posted by Bekqua on 2011-12-20 09:58:42
My names Becky, and for some months I have been raising money for my little sister who has the genetic disease neurofibromatosis. She has suffered with this for a few years, with other problems occurring because of this (scoliosis etc)
She gets bullied at school, because of the large growth on her leg, which she will need to have surgery on in the coming year.
I have raised some funds but this is nowhere near enough. I want to send her tithe USA to Harry potter world, so she can feel like the best person in the whole world. I want her to feel like the most beautiful girl in the world, because to me she is perfect.
I have created this fundraising page: www.gofundme.com/afhb0
I have had one donation which is great but I do need more.
I would be so grateful if you could do so :D
Thank you so so much

Invisible Children Fundraising Page!! Please help!!!
Posted by laurin on 2011-03-30 22:58:11
Anything will help! Please sign up for this event and join me for the 25 hours of silence
Thank you for supporting me as I raise money and awareness for the THOUSANDS of children in central Africa who have been abducted by Joseph Kony and his rebel army. The money I raise will fund The Invisible Children Protection Plan -- a strategy to protect innocent people from the brutal violence of the LRA.
I will be participating in Invisible Children's national awareness event called 25, on April 25th. Thousands around the world will be silent, using our voices (by not using them) to speak out against this 25-year-long war.
Please donate and tell others about my page any way you can: Facebook, Twitter... or even word of mouth (you remember what that is, right? Phone calls. Knocking on doors. Whatever you've gotta do.)
And join me on April 25th, wherever you are, in staying silent for 25 hours. Together, we will put an end to 25 years of war. Sign up at www.invisiblechildren.com
Together we can help these innocent children and their families not have to live in fear. Any donation will help. Living by my favorite quote "Be the change you wish to see in the world." i know i am making a diffrence and you will be too!

Cancer Charity Needs Help Donate to Uninsured Gynecological and Breast Cancer Patients
Posted by ashlyrm14 on 2010-10-05 20:58:58
We are a non profit charity (Ovarian Cancer Patient Charity Project L.L.C.)donating to uninsured gynecological and breast cancer patients in need of financial assistance. All contributions go to the cause, and are tax deductible. We are in need of extra assistance to assist all the 19 women whom have requested financial assistance, and the others coming in every day. Can you help us, by donating or sponsoring a patient? We are not too specific, because any help will help us tremendously. If you can give us a hand in any way, the patients, their families, and our charity would be forever grateful! Please contact me as soon as possible, as this is something that cannot be put off. Some of the women whom have requested assistance, are homeless, some are terminal, or invasive as well as desperately in need of treatment to have a chance of beating this potentially deadly disease. Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to do great things. We hope you decide to help us with our cause. Thanks a lot. And were looking forward to hearing from you.

Posted by 0 on 2009-04-02 17:58:58
I am the president of a gem and Mineral Fair Association and we provide a community event each year that gives our children FREE entertainment and show rides which being in this isolated part of tasmania our kids do not get to see unless they travel many hours away to attend. We started out because the mining company that sponsored community events had shut down and left the town in a crisis situation. We thought we could something good for the locals by rasing money to give them some free entertainment and keep up the morale, this in turn helped the local businesses with people coming to our event from all over the world. It has become very popular but now the mining companies that had started to boom again for a couple of years have shut down so we cannot go to them for sponsorship to help raise money for our childrens rides etc.
We do as much fundraising as we popssibly can but you can only expect so much from a small community that has not got many employment options at this moment.
We are afraid that this event will not be able to go ahead without some kind of support. This will be our 6th year.
I am hoping that we can raise enough money to see this years event take place in November, and hopefully by this time next year the economy will have picked up and our mines working again so that they may be able to support the community that supports them.
If you can help, please send an email to...kimdunstan@activ8.net.au and we can arrange a meeans of accepting your payment.
Thanks
Kim
