Disabled vet needs help with home

Posted by emr428 on 2012-05-23 10:58:48

My husband is a disabled, retired Army veteran. About 10 years ago he purchased a camp in Maine that he planned to fix up and move into for his retirement. Unfortunately he has suffered flood damage twice, once he had flood insurance, or thought he did, but the insurance company refused to pay saying they hadn't processed the payment on the day he opened the policy and the flooding occured over the weekend so he was not covered! The second flooding FEMA came in and didn't bother going under the house so they only gave him $800! Both times the flooding destroyed all the insulation and a great deal of work. He now has to jack up the house, have a foundation put in, then level everything in the house. He cannot live there. He applied for an equity loan from the bank as the property is valued at $139K and there is no mortgage. But we have moved to Nevada as I was offered a job here that paid better than back east. We want nothing more than to get this house fixed up in Maine so we can either sell it or possibly retire there. Right now if someone was willing to give an equity loan of $40,000, we would take that instead of begging. Please consider helping us before this Maine house gets flooded again and we lose everything there. If each person who reads this can only give $1, it wouldn't take long to reach our goal and then we could give back in the future!

please help me and my son

Posted by orionsbelt on 2012-05-12 09:58:06

I don't really know where to start without it sounding somewhat chat show like. I have no family as such none of whom actually talk with me. My grandparents pretty much raised me. My mother and both brothers left at a young age. Dad was an alcoholic due to his own loss and dealing with his own personal issues..a good man betrayed I guess. Either way I ended up living in hostels from the age of 12.. friends floors etc met a guy fell in''love'' or so I thought he was a drinker also I ended up pregnant alone and had a beautiful child who's now 10. I lost my world yet gained my own new world like we all do. Its been tough. Anyway I've had severe eating disorders from being a child which has been undealt with I need help' I'm in severe debts I'm struggling like crazy and my whole world is collapsing. I have noone. We are getting evicted in june we have food parcels kindly offered to us by the salvation army but we can't have anymore they've stopped all of our benefits which is going to an appeal also at the end of june. I can't get any kind of loan. And I cannot work due to mental health and very bad scholiosis. My son has been my rock throughout all of this I'm not a parasite on the community nor do I wish to be one I just need someone to offer me the opportunity to start laying down some kind of solid foundation to help become the person we all deserve to be. Please consider taking my hand for guidence? +e appreciate you taking you time to read this plea and also kindly wish any good karma from this back towards you good people or person three fold xxx

Home Repairs

Posted by Asus54 on 2012-03-05 08:58:16

Hello
My wife and I bought an old house needing repairs. We thought we could fix it up ourselves because it looks so easy on tv. Anyway everything keeps falling apart on it. I have had my pipes burst twice, ac is out, foundation has cracked all the walls, electrical system shoots fireballs out of the breaker box.
I just want it all fixed. I need about 20k to live I. Safety. If everyone could just give me a bunch of small donations that would be great. Or if someone wants to give me 20 grand that would also be great. Lol. Thanks

Please help Ava!

Posted by kimc on 2012-02-25 11:58:49

Ava is our adorable pup that we adopted through the
Penny Foundation. Ava is a rescue dog from Mexico. She has filled our
lives with joy and happiness. Ava turned one year old in February. She
is a very active, playful pup who is full of life. A month ago, the exuberant Ava was playing in our backyard. She slipped, and ripped a
tendon in her right hind leg. Upon initial vet exam, she was deemed
fine. However, the condition persisted and she refused to play or go
for walks (VERY unusual for Ava). We took her to a different vet a week
later, and the diagnosis came in – Ava would require surgery. There was
no other option. The injury would not heal on its own. The vet told us
that Ava’s breed is prone to this type of injury. We were very sad to
hear this, as Ava is so young and the surgery would require two months
of recovery time. The surgery is also expensive – $3000 minimum. My
husband and I are not rich people, and are therefore trying to raise
some money to go towards Ava’s surgery. Any amount will help. We want
Ava to make a full recovery, and get back to her normal, fun, playful
puppy lifestyle. The vet told us the prognosis after surgery is very
good, and that Ava should return to full function. Please help Ava.
Thank you!

Urgently need help

Posted by vlsvls on 2012-02-04 09:58:39

My begging request is serious enough for me to google for help. I am hoping somebody out there will help us.

Our house is presently freezing and I am in dire need of temporary help to get some fuel to keep us warm as well as my precious lil dog. We ran out of fuel and because we have no money to pay the gas company in back fuel, we cannot get any propane. To add inujury to insult, we are also behind on our property and school taxes. We have a house in Michigan that we were renovating by the skin of our teeth so that we can sell it for money, but just yesterday, we received a certified letter with a tax foreclosure on it.The property taxes on that house is behind. We cannot afford to foreclose on this house as it is our ticket to some money to help us with this house. We owe the contractor money for the work he has presently completed. He is now threatened to put a mechanic lien on the house. As you can see, our dire situation needs help as soon as possible.

We got behind in all bills because we ran out of money. My significant other was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 with multiple surgeries and since then, we have been going downhill. Utilizing our savings, selling everything we can possibly see. We live month to month now from social security and disability checks. I have no place else to turn as my own family does not have any money to help me nor does my significant other. Every place we turn to for help with this issue is a dead end. His disability pays the mortgage. We are truly strapped right at the moment. Is there anything you can do to help us out on this very cold day and with our property taxes? I can pay back whatever money is loan because I have a law suit settlement pending for a car accident I was involved in which required my having surgery. I just don’t know where else to turn. Please help me? I am begging. (I can’t get a settlement load because I am on a contingency basis). Our credit scores are not the greatest and that prevents us from getting any type of a loan.

If there is any way underneath the sun someone can come forward and help us, it would be greatly appreciated OR please guide us to a source where we can obtain a loan with the way our credit now stands. I have a judgment (which just recently surfaced) and now I am starting to pay that off at $50.00 per month which is an additional bill I cannot afford.

We have proof of anything I mentioned above. This is not a scam email.

p.s. I have also reached out to the Warren Buffet family foundation for some help per an email I sent and response I received. We are not guaranteed that we will get the help since they receive thousands of letters for help every day.

I’m a woman with a dream. A dream to have my own successful business. Yes, I am a single mother of a great son, whom I’m supporting in college. With Robbing Peter to pay Paul, college tuition and trying hard to build a solid business with any extras I have. Which there really aren’t any extras. I make the needed sacrifice to build my business. I’m asking for your help to build a solid foundation to ensure my business is sustainable and successful. Like so many people, I received the dreaded “You are laid off” line. But, by the grace of GOD I found another job before my last one ended. I don’t want to hear that line again. Instead of worrying about losing a job I want to be in a position of creating a job (s). With your donations my business will flourish I will be in a position to pay it forward and provide a job (s) for someone else. I need $20,000 to build a solid foundation for my company. Your donation will help with supplies, inventory, and marketing. Be a part of what I truly feel is a worthy cause. I want to thank each of you who donate in advance. I’m also wishing that each of you is tripled blessed for being a blessing to me.

Disabled musician needs help with funding for college

Posted by joebassman on 2012-01-29 16:58:46

I am a disabled person who has suffered from ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since age 9. I missed almost all of my secondary education because of my disability.
I studied a 2 year foundation degree and 1 year degree in music at the Colchester Institute. When I went on to apply for a music teaching PGCE at Cambridge, Middlesex, Ipswich and Open Universities I was interviewed but not selected for any of the courses. The feedback on each occasion was that I lacked sufficient subject knowledge to be accepted on the teachers training course. Also, when I undertook classroom observation experience at several secondary schools, it became clear to me that there were shortfalls in my subject knowledge.
As a disabled person I am at a disadvantage when competing with able bodied people for employment. The shortfall in my subject knowledge is a further disadvantage that can be rectified. I have been offered a place at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford Surrey to commence September 2012. My Parents are unable to assist me financially as my father and 2 brothers are disabled and unable to work. My mother has been ill and unable to work for the past year as she has a lung disease and it is not certain if she will be able to return to work.
Previously I auditioned and was offered a place at the world renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston USA. I was unable to obtain funding to attend the course and was informed by the Department of Education that this was because there are sufficient colleges and universities that offer music education in the UK.
Any donations or sponsorship to help me with the fees would be much appreciated.

Help this working girl from sinking

Posted by dfrustrated1 on 2011-12-18 19:58:57

Like a great deal of the populace, I have found myself, despite tremendous effort, to keep afloat in a series of unfortunate circumstances which are gaining momentum in becoming untenable.
I work my tail off as a domestic, I have no credit cards that I use irresponsibly, or at all for that matter. I care for an emotionally unstable, elderly parent whose home has reached a point of delapidation through her own unsound management of personal finances. The roof leaks whenever it rains, the foundation is cracked and only lastnight, the electrical stopped functioning in a portion of the house.
My ex husband ruined my credit, so no hope of securing a loan and there is no one within my family that posesses the means to assist with the situation.
I have medical bills due to a surgery that was intregal to my being able to maintain a source of income. I am only able to pay my ever increasing monthly premiums for insurance. Barely.
If my employer ever was apprised, to the full extent of my situation, she would be convinced that I would most assuredly be stealing from her, whenever she misplaced something within her 6,000ft. home and I would be terminated despite my devoted service to her family.
I think people don't tend to realize in circumstances such as mine, it makes me all the more dependant on securing an excellent reference to ensure that my options are not severly crippled from that point forward.
However, she isn't a bad person, she just hasn't ever had to struggle like this, so she just doesn't understand how the other half lives.
For years, I have desperately wanted to return to school and something has always been an obstacle: time, money, even a deficit of confidence in my own ability.
I can no longer endure the duress of only just treading water indefinately.
I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and if it does, my mother and I both will be homeless.
Any assistance that in your kindness, you may provide, will not go unappreciated.
Thank you for reading this.

chronic kidney issues needs help maintaining for 3 boys

Posted by cantbelieveimdoingthis1121 on 2011-12-11 19:58:02

I cannot believe I am doing this, but going thru the normal state assistance channels has gotten me nowhere. I fall into the "crack" of holding a job I haven't been able to attend due to chronic kidney issues and hospital stays, so I don't qualify for even help with heating costs. I just know that during my last pregnancy, my life changed. My kidney began to swell to 4 times it's size, and never went down. My doctor refused to send me to a specalist, so I have to live with the consequence. I have 3 boys who are my world. I am scared to take away their stability in school, home, and life. I believe that stability and always knowing tomorrow they will attend the same school, and have the same home, is the foundation to a successful adulthood. I am scared as hell that I will take that from them if I can't pay my mortgage of 258.88 (pathetic, I know). I live off of 400.00 a month in support, and that doesn't pay utilities, lot rent and mortgage. When I lost my home, I made sure that my total mortgage/rent wasn't above 500.00, as to not live above my means. I figured I could at least come up with that amount. I didn't think my kidney would get worse and make it impossible to even pull off a 6 hour work week. I don't know what to expect on here, but even if it's just advice to an agency that can help me, please. All I know is my children didn't ask to have a chronically ill mother. I used to be "normal", and could work and maintain. I feel like I'm letting them down everyday by being sick and in bed, and not at work. I'm scared, but I can't cry. I have help with food and insurance, which the state is trying to take because i make over 360.00 a month in support. The state's maximum for a family of 4 is 360.00, which is rediclous. But, I cannot change that, I can only pray. Pray someone reads this, and can help me either with finding an agency who will help and has money available , financial assistance, or even a prayer. I see so many stories on here that make me cry, but I have a story too, so I took a chance and posted it. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope you have a wonderful day.

It all started 5 years ago on June 17, 2006. . .a day I will remember for the rest of my life. It was the day before Fathers Day and we were driving with our 14 month old son to his grandmothers house when and SUV ran a stop sign slamming into us causing our vehicle to roll landing upside down. They say my fiance (my sons father) was partially ejected and killed instantly.

He didn't have life insurance, and since we were only engaged, there were no survivors benefits and so it was just me, my 14 month old, two dogs, and an old house built in 1927 and a laundry list of repairs that needed to be done.

After my fiance died, I think a part of me just shut down. There was so much to deal with. . .working full time, being a single parent with no support. All my family lives 6 hours away, and my fiances family never wanted anything to do with us and after the accident all communication stopped and I was alone.

So, I shut the doors to the upstairs of our two bedroom Cape Cod, and made my bed on the Living Room couch so that I could rock my son in his bouncy chair everytime he woke at night. . .on average 4 times a night.

I did the best I could over the years. During all this my Dad was a huge emotional support for me. We talked every day, he encouraged me to stay strong and I did the same for him (he was diagnosed with milodisplastic syndrome in 2005)his blood transfusions really took a toll on him and his physical weakness really depressed him. I know he worried about me alot because I would always call him for advise on how to fix things or ask him questions about car stuff. He was my rock and he died October 4, 2008 from complications with pneumonia. He was buried on his birthday October 8 when he would have been 56.

His death is still hard to handle. My rock my best friend and advisor was gone and now I realized I was truly alone. Not only did I not have anyone to help me with my son, or with the house or the car, but now I didn't have anyone I could really talk to that could just listen and be my guide.

All this happened so suddenly. My now 3 year old son and I stayed up North for a week after my Fathers death. There was a lot of planning and funeral arrangements to be made that during the midst of all this, 6 hours away in my little Cape Cod were the two dogs. . .Joe, a shepard and chow mix, and Rex, a shepard and Rotti mix left to their own devices. All I could do was pray that the damage wouldn't be too terrible.

I tried calling a neighbor to check on the dogs, but in our unexplained absence the dogs became extremely protective of the house and wouldn't let anyone it.

When we finally came home, there was definately a mess. I had to rip up all the carpet by myself the stench was horrible and the dust and dirt under the padding from 10 year old carpet caused more than one sinus infection. After a month I had all the carpet ripped up and have not been able to replace it.

After working and saving and with help from my Mom, in 2009 I was able to hire a Contractor that had been highly recommended to me by a friend of mine. He raved about how great they were and what a good job they did for him. We had a contract for about $19,000. This was to replace all the windows, replace the kitchen cabinets, new countertop, appliances, paint, everything the house needed after being neglected for over 10 years. So they came and painted and left. Six months later they came back with 5 of the 13 windows, installed the windows, but left the casements on the inside open and torn leaving exposed the Lead Paint and the original wood framing. Then in August 2009, they had the kitchen cabinets delivered to my house and they were stored outside on the porch. I called and called to find out when they would be put in, and no response. They stayed outside through the Fall and through the winter when we got three feet of snow and I called and begged and sent text messages and one day their phone number was disconnected. Then in June 2010 they called me!! They would come install the cabinets. So they came and tore out the stove and the kitchen sink and installed the cabinets and put a slab on granite down so I could have a work area and said they would be back with the stove and dishwasher and sink. They never came back. So I had kitchen cabinets and no stove, no sink, no dishwasher. Then in July, Rex, the Rotti Shepard mix got really sick. The vet said he was starting kidney failure. They kept him and did IV treatment and got his kidneys functioning and they said he need a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice. I had no stove. I tried calling the contractors I yelled, I begged, I sent text messages and finally out of desparation I went and bought the cheapest stove I could just to be able to boil water for my dog.

The dog survived, but his survival was short lived. In October 2010 on the anniversary of my Fathers death, I had to put the dog to sleep. He was suffering from the samething my father had. He couldn't produce red blood cells anymore and would have to live off of blood transfusions. One of the hardest choices I've ever made.

Now here we are in 2011. Memorial Day I almost lost my now 6 year old son in a near drowning incident at a friends pool. Thank God the husband knew CPR and was able to revive him. He stayed overnight in ICU for monitoring but he is now a happy healthy 1st grader.

Me. . .I'm barely keeping it together. I can't afford to take care of my home. The carpet was never replaced and there is a horrible draft in the Winter and the Lead Paint is still exposed. The upstairs windows are leaking and there are water spots on the ceiling. There is a 4" crack in the basement foundation wall that goes all the way down the wall and across the basement floor to the other side of the house. I was told that the footing is slipping and that it was only a matter of time before the house caved. The gutters are falling off the house from age and the deck rails are falling off. I fear for our safety, but mostly, I'm afraid for my son. I want to give him a safe and healthy environment, but I need help.

Please, if there is anyone out there that can help us, I would be eternally grateful. In the meantime, I will keep praying and belive that everything happens for a reason.
