Repossessed Home In Need of Repair.
Posted by khannah on 2012-05-21 08:58:22
Hello, My names Kaylee and I am in need of a little help if possible. My parents divorced this year and it ended with me, my mum and my brother moving to a 2 bedroom repossessed property that is in dire need of repair. My mum works, but her wages only cover our necessities and thereâs no room to save for the house to be repaired. Me and my brother help where we can but we are on little wages ourselves. We currently have no ceiling or flooring in the lounge and kitchen and every wall in the house needs repairing and painting. We also need a sofa and other bits of furniture as we currently have plastic garden chairs. I have a friend who is a builder and is willing to do all the repairs for us, it's just the part of raising the money for materials thatâs an issue.
I would be most grateful for any donation that could help towards my cause and I know itâs not life threatening and in some peopleâs eyes not a lot of money but for us it could make a huge difference to our lives. My mum suffers with Bipolar and this can have a huge impact on our everyday life, with the house in such disarray this can cause my mums behavior to be very erratic and disorganised, I just feel with a home she does not need to worry about that it will help us all to lead a better quality of life :)

Emergency Relief Needed for Family with 2 Disabled Members, granddaughter neds help
Posted by all4Luna on 2011-11-05 19:58:26
My husband was hit by a drunk off-duty EMT. He was thrown over 2 lanes of traffic and landed on a sidewalk. His ankle was broken, he fractured his ribs, he damaged 5 disca in his spine and neck, his intestines were twisted and he suffered an acute double-hernia and had to have surgery. He was out of work a while. His settlement was 10,000 dollars and did not even cover our medical bills and bills from lost work. We have an Autistic son who is not getting help he needs due to lack of insurance. Our car was reposessed after my husband lost his job as an auto mechanic due to his injuries. NOw he is able to return to work and he has a jiob offer but we have no car to get to work. I have been given a job but again, no car to get to work. My granddaughter needs us due to her parents being very unfit. We really need to finish the 2 unfinished bedrooms off with sheetrock and some kind of flooring so we can move her in with us. Our family is in desperate need.If you can help us with a car or anything please contact me at 610-703-1452.

I'm working on constructing a home using earthbag techniques and I'm short on materials. I need a few hundred dollars for more sandbags, barbed wire as well as chicken wire and concrete to cover the outside of the structure. I'm using recycled doors and windows and lumber for flooring and other structural elements. My goal is to live off the approximately half acre of land I own, including farming wood for heating and cooking as well as food. I also need a new pair of boots, I'm wearing my boots and socks out fast as I'm doing all my digging to fill the bags with a shovel, no power tools or help from other people. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a small array of solar panels for electricity but I have no water storage or collection set up. To set up water storage and collection will take several hundred dollars as well. More solar panels and storage batteries are always desirable. If possible I can submit an Amazon wishlist, as I'd prefer to get assistance in the form of materials and equipment that I need, rather than just money, as I'm trying to get away from the monetary system entirely.
Severly disabled son needs clothing and bed, home repair
Posted by bluecrystal on 2011-10-22 22:58:19
My almost 19 year old son, who is autistic and nonverbal, and is not potty trained, needs a full size mattress terribly. He is not toilet trained, and has wet the bed so often I cannot clean it anymore. He has broken the box springs and frame compelty, but my husband has fashioned a frame out of 2 x 4's. His disability causes him to have extreme agression, and he continually breaks windows, makes holes in walls, tears up his clothing, unravels carpet, tore up laminate flooring,so many things. In one week he tore up 5 pair of shorts and 6 shirts, and 6 pair of socks. He even does it at school. He tore up 3 sets of sheets just last month. He wears adult diapers, which cost a lot. The state does give him medicaid, but they only pay for about 1/2 the diapers he uses a month. I am at my wits end trying to keep up with it. Currently there are 6 fairly large holes in the hallway, three in his bedroom, 2 in the dining room, we keep patching them but he keeps making them. I was laid off my job as a special ed aide in 2008, and then I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am currently in remission, but the medical bills are staggering and we are two months behind in rent. We owe $297 to the electric bill and only have 5 days to pay it. My husband has been looking for a second job, but he works long and odd hours and it is hard. I have tried everything to get caught up, but everything keeps happening, car repairs on our 2000 impala cost over $400, we can't get it registered because it won't pass emissions, besides our disabled son we also have a 13 year old. I don't know where else to turn.I need $1500 for rent, $300 for the electric bill, and am desperate for a new mattress or bed for my son. If anyone can help, I would be so thankful, and be sure to pass on the blessings to someone else whenever I get the chance. Thank you so much.
Help needed for family who lost everything in a house fire 10/13/11
Posted by ncmom on 2011-10-15 00:58:41
last night while he was in town, he was told his house was on fire, he rushed home hurried to grab the
garden hose to save what he could, only he fell and had to go to the hospital where he fractured
several ribs and tore something in his for arm, which is wrapped and in a sling.
today he can hardly move for the pain.
he lost 4 kittens and the mama cat, every photo he had of his kids and so much more.
unfortunatley he didnt have insurance on the house.
he has a 19 yr old son living with him.
the fire dept probably did as much damage as the fire. they didnt try to seal the section off and work
on it, they soaked everything , every room.. so much that the ceiling fell in.
no one has contacted him most of the day, no one offered to really help these people..
i came home, got on the phone and called the red cross in albemarle nc, the lady said we cant do anything
till we hear from the fire marshall,
so we tried to call the fire marshal.. this was like 2 pm today..(friday) no answer left a message, it is now 11:30 at night.
.still no reply back.
someone did tell us he wouldn't contact them till he finished his investigation, that could be days,
called a church here, they said yes we help but we go through stanly county christian ministries call them.. so i called them
they said well, he needs to bring something showing his house burnt..i said lady its not as if they give to a certificate to hand out
when your house catches on fire.. i can give you the norwood police number, or the fire marshal to verify it..
around 5-6 red cross call's my friend.. tells him they are going to put he and his son up in a hotel in albemarle for the weekend.
. and he never heard back from them.. its now 11: 30 at night. i called the hotel they said red cross did call, but they didn't
send the paper work or call back.
thank god for the one friend he does have who is letting them stay at his house tonight, and giving them a hot shower,
and a place to rest. if left to the red cross i guess they would be sleeping in the yard.
this is crazy.. his house is totaled from one end to the other, nothing is untouched by smut and water,
no power, no clothes..not even a pair of socks.
charities are so eager to take your money, .but it seems to take an act of congress to get help if your the victim,
this is a good guy, he has volunteered his time endless times, days on end at the community table to feed people just
down the road. he'd help anybody he could, and has a wonderful son.
things they could really use,
clothes,
if there is anyone who might work in construction that has left over wood 2x4's, 2x6's
plywood, sheet rock, flooring,
anything it doesn't even matter if its scrap.
if anyone has some gently used furniture, beds, blankets.
thank you for taking the time to read my post, i know there are alot of good people out there who
still believe in helping, you just have to find a way to let them know you need it.
any help you can give would mean so much.
i can provide proof, phone numbers, photos, and address.
all i ask is please be serious in offering to help,
my name is tina..

Quickly losing the battle to keep a roof over my families heads
Posted by Nuitari1974 on 2011-06-01 03:58:15
I was layed off from my job of 6 years in 2005 due to budget cuts. In order to keep up with bills while I looked for a new job I started a computer repair business that managed to keep us afloat for a couple years, along with tapping my 401k. During this time the local economy took and even bigger hit and even with over a decade of experience I was unable to find sufficient work without a degree. As a result I decided to go back to school in 2009 to get my degree. With fiancial aid, the remainder of my 401k, money from the odd jobs I could find, and my wifes wages we managed to stay just ahead of our bills.
However in the last year the economy has gotten so bad that I was actually losing money repairing and building custom PC's, my wifes hours have been cut wo less than 10 hours a week, and any job that I have applied for I am not eligble for either because I am still finishing my degree so am under qualified, or because I am over qualified due to the schooling I have completed so far. (That's right I have been told I am overqualified to flip burgers at Mcdonalds, not sure how that works.)
Because of our reduced income we have been late on a number of bill payments for utilities and the house. I have sold my boat, my guns, and various electronics to get were we are and am to the point I have nothing of value left to sell. Aside from the monthly bills I have repair bills racking up on the house and our remaining vehicle.
The to top it off we got hit with a flood that took out our water heater, washer and dryer, and did significant damage to the rest of the basement.
Current bills include:
Cable $185
Cell $195
Mortgage $850
porperty taxes $200
food $600
gas $250
misc expenses for kids $200+ (8 year old daughter, 17 year old son)
repairs
replace water heater $1200
replace washer and dryer $500
engine and transmission work needed $2400
replace flooring and wall paneling $7500
Current monthly income
Wife: $600
Me: $800
Even with the financial aid and some other assistance we are almost $600 a month short just for the basic bills.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

help with stub-standard living conditions
Posted by jacy867 on 2011-05-13 20:58:57
I am medically disabled, and am able to squeak by on regular monthly expenses. But I am living in a 'fixer-upper' that has not been fixed.
1/2 of my flooring is ripped up due to mold. I can't replace it, so cracked concrete is what I have to walk on. The rest of the carpet is disgusting from what the prior owners did to it.
I cannot move, as my mortgage is really low.
It costs 10K to renovate one of these 30+ year old units (condo) (800 sq. feet) not including things like the A/C (also needs replacing) and the stove.
In the 6 years I have lived here I have managed to save enough to replace the water heater when it rusted out, and the disposal for the same reason.
Otherwise, if this were a rental unit and I had a landlord, he'd be a 'slum lord' as these are not proper living conditions for me and my precious dog.

Everything is falling apart
Posted by meghenelizabeth on 2010-10-19 07:58:58
I am a wife and mother and just can't seem to get past the struggle. My husband works 6 days a week as a mechanic, and still brings home only $300.00 a week. A tree fell on our home last Christmas and a lot of the money has been going for repairs. We still need flooring. I was getting $388.00 a week in unemployment benefits but that has run out. We have already bought a new roof, walls, drywall, plywood, windows, ect for our home and invested over $5,000.00 Now that my unempployment has run out, I am finding it hard to pay any of my bills, and I still need flooring and insulation before the cold weather hits. I am still applying to at least 4 or 5 jobs a week, but there is just not much work in my city :( I am trying to sell a family heirloom bible on eBay if you don't feel right giving money for nothing in return. I don't want to beg, I just want to feed my family and keep them warm..
