Trying to sort out an old mess
Posted by clairecat84 on 2012-01-24 13:58:13
Hi,
Gosh, not really sure what to put here. Where to start. Ok, I made some really bad life choices as a teenager and ended up in a long term mentally abusive relationship and I've ended up with a pile of debt. My ex was an alcoholic who used to spend, pretty much any money he could get his hands on, on alcohol. And me being brainwashed/in love, used to give him money from my credit cards to buy him it. Along with two overdrafts which I ended up with to try and keep on top of our mortgage payments.
Eventually, I plucked up the courage to leave him. Granted it was 6 years later than it should have been. I ended up unable to work for 3 years due to major depression, which I'm still being treated for now, so bills mounted up. Alongside a reposession on our house.
I honestly have noone to blame but myself, and I'm not crying about it all anymore. Just trying to do my best to pay off my debt and make a fresh start.
I do have a new partner now, who is lovely, and a new full-time job. I dont earn loads, but I cover the bills and I pay my way. I'm just struggling to pay back the money I owed from the past. I pay what I can to it every month, but between interest and fines, its not making much of a difference.
I did have around £10,000 on various cards/loans/overdrafts to pay off, but I'm down to about £8,000 at the moment. So I'm not ignoring it, I do want it gone. But its taken me 4 years to pay back £2,000 and I just cant see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Anything anyone can give would be much appreciated. 1p - £1. It all adds up.
Even if you cant help me, I'm just grateful you have managed to read all of this. Feel a bit embarassed writing all this down, if I'm honest!
Thanks everyone, and good luck with lifes journey :)

Struggling young family...
Posted by urgent on 2011-10-02 15:58:50
I am asking for help for my son and his family. They are struggling in so many ways. Neither one has been able to get a job. They have 2 small children. They are dealing with a drug addiction which they are seeking help for. They have made many mistakes and bad choices but are wanting to make a better life for their children. The children are outgrowing their clothes. Their car needs new tires and a good tuneup. They are driving back & forth to a drug Rehab. All costs money and my 2 daughters & I have been paying for as much of it as we can. But the biggest problem facing them right now is huge fines from traffic tickets that did not get paid. If they are not paid in the next 3 or 4 weeks my son could go to jail for a good while. With everything that's happened in the last 2 years we just don't have the money to clear him up. I know that my son messed up and we have been trying so hard to get him free of these things, to give another chance. I just can not bare the thought of him going to jail for traffic tickets!
I know that this situation does not appear to be as urgent as other people on this site, but I know in my heart that these kids are going down in a bad way if someone does not help them! I am not asking to just their sake. I am asking for the sake of those dear little babies who love their daddy & mommy very much! My children want to be able to live a better life. They need your help! Please help.

I Need Help
Posted by Justinneed on 2011-09-30 06:58:53
I am a 50 year old married male. I have been out of work for over three years. I am not in the best of health, but I can still work. I need to get my driver's license and a cheap car. My wife works and her income is enough to cover our rent and bills, but we can't save anything back. I have an old DUI charge(from 1986) that the state wants the fines and costs paid to clear my record. ANY help would be gratly appreciated. Thank you.
Iraq Vet needs help!

My name is Mike, I am a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and after coming home, I was diagnosed with PTSD. As is typical with PTSD, I did not seek immidiate treatment for the condition, I was going through a divorce, losing everything, and I was unemployed. I started using alot of drugs and alcohol in an attempt to self medicate and I ended up homeless, addicted and in alot of legal trouble. I have since, remarried,my wife and I have 3 children (2 years, 1 year, and new born) and our 1 year old was born 3 months pre mature and has cerebral palsey as well as several other serious medical conditions. I have over 2 years clean and sober now, and I have not had any new criminal charges in 3 years, i recently turned myself in on the last warrant i had and served my jail time and I no longer have any pending legal charges. My problem is this, due to the warrants I had, my drivers license was suspended in 2008 and now that all charges are resolved, I can not afford my re-instatement fee. I am current on the pay plan for all fines and court costs, but with our limited income, our sons medical issues, and my fine payments, on top of regular living expenses (rent, utilities, diapers, food, etc) there is no way I can pay my reinstatement fee's or get a drivers license. I will worry about getting a car later, but I had a CDL before it was suspended and if I can get it back, I know I will be able to increase our income and achieve self sufficiency. If you can help, please consider doing so, it will not be unappreciated!

Downward Spiral - PLEASE HELP!!!

Several months ago, I racked up medical bills (including an ambulance bill) for what turned out to be a stress-related illness all the doctors couldn't diagnose until I had a breakdown. I now have 30 days (It's at about 22 now) to prove I can improve my performance despite still being sick. After the meeting when I got the warning, I went home to drown my sorrows and ended up with a DUI, my first (and only, ever) offense. I have not had a drink for 12 days, and I will never have one again. I'm already juggling to pay my bills with two jobs, and once the legal fees and fines hit, I'll be sunk. I desperately need help, just once, to "get back to zero" and get on with my life. I'm a professional and I teach on the side, so I have a lot to give. My girlfriend has left me over this, my family has nothing to offer, and I have no support at all. I don't want to be a casualty of the recession, my illness, and my own stupidity. I need one opportunity that will get me back on my wobbly feet and stand strong, being the good person I know I am. I had to hit rock bottom to realize I need to change my life, and I will. I just need a chance.
my roommates have left without notice and without covering their share of rent..

I live in a house with two other guys, who decided to up and move back in with their parents. luckily all utilities are in my name but the guys failed to inform me that they also have not paid their share of the rent for the previous month.
After all of my landlords fines the total comes to $1,710.
I have been trying hard to take care of this myself but now I only have 5 days left.
if you can help, please please please do. unlike them I dont have a family anywhere near to run and hide to.

Out of work for over a year and a court date next week!
Posted by cadilee2006 on 2011-02-21 20:58:05
I have been out of work for over a year. I apply for jobs and I just can't get interviews! I got pulled over last month because my registration was expired. I have a court date on Monday. I need $350 to take care of registration and pay my fines. If I don't get it I will not be able to get to my court date, I will have a warrant out for my arrest and if I go to jail I won't get caught back up! Please if anyone can help me! I got fired from my job last December and got denied unemployment! And everyone says "oh, everything will work out". They LIE!
