I am seeking help to pay for my son's college tuition and associated fees. My son has been accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. It is an honor for anyone to be accepted to this esteemed institution, however my son's story is quite exceptional. When he was 10 years old, he nearly lost his right arm due to a post-surgical bleed. He was diagnosed with a bleeding disorder known as von Willebrands. He has been left with a disabled arm and hand. He only has use of his thumb on his right hand. His childhood was comprised of surgeries and infusions. When he was 12 years old, he asked if he could buy a guitar. He was so happy because he had seen Tommy Emmanuel playing guitar with a thumb pick on television. He purchased the guitar and began working on a technique to play. He can only use his thumb to pick the guitar strings and must hold his fingers in a special position so that he does not mute the strings. His goal since age 12 has been to study at Berklee. It is an honor to be accepted to such a fine school. Despite a severe disability he has been able to achieve this remarkable goal. Financing his education is going to be extremely difficult. Berklee is an expensive college and scholarships seem scarce. If you know of any scholarships that would be available for him please let me know. We desperately need your help! We are a small church located in an economically disadvantaged community. We own a house that was deeded over to us by a former pastor and are at risk of losing that property because of our inability to pay some past due taxes on the property.

The house was deeded to the church over 30 years ago by a former pastor of the church who had become ill and subsequently passed away. The house is not located in the same community as the church. (In fact, it is some distance away from the church, and therefore could not be utilized for church-related purposes which would have taken it off of the tax roll). As a result of gentrification in that community, the property values have increased tremendously. The property tax assessment for the property owned by the church escalated to staggering heights during the housing bubble.

Because of this the church has had much difficulty keeping up with all of the taxes on the property (a general tax, a school tax, and a village tax). The rental income from the property is used to assist the church with operating expenses, maintenance of all of the church properties, as well as paying the taxes. Finally, reassessment in the last couple of years has brought down the amount of taxes to be paid and we are better able to handle some of the current taxes due, but some of the older taxes were sold and consolidated in tax lien sales. The consolidation of the prior taxes due has hurt us tremendously. Numerous times the unpaid taxes were consolidated prior to our completion of raising enough funds to pay off some of them in their unconsolidated state. Individually some were $1,000 to $3,000 respectively. They have been consolidated totaling almost $19,000. We are not permitted to pay the liens individually which was viable, we have to pay them in total.

There is a holding company based in the community where the house is located which purchased those liens. That company is now a few months away from being able to begin foreclosure proceedings and take a valuable piece of real estate out from under the church. This would be devastating to the church.

The church has been in the process of trying to sell the house and use the proceeds from the sale to build a much needed new church building in the community it is located as well as to pay off those outstanding liens at closing, and to unload a property that was once a blessing to the church, but has long since become a burden. We don’t want to lose the property. We want to be able to sell it. We had some offers on the house, but at the last minute a promising deal fell through. Previously interested buyers, for some reason now, are less interested. We feel it is possible that there may some collusion within the community where the house is located to wait for the lien process to move forward and that potential purchasers connected with the holding company will be able to take the property and flip it to tremendous financial advantage, while leaving the church with nothing for thirty years of struggling to take care of the property.

It is important that we are allowed to sell the house and build our new church. We are in the final stages of making the new building a reality. All we have to do is secure the construction financing. Receipt of a commitment letter for the sale of the house is all that stands in the way of a 40+ year dream for the congregation. It would give us the down-payment that we need to move forward.

With the construction of a new church, we would be able to operate before and after school programs, have handicap accessible restrooms, and provide better services to the community. We have a senior citizens housing complex across the street from our church, and many of the residents would attend our church but they are unable to climb up and down the stairs to the single-person restrooms in the basement. We also operate a summer day camp which would benefit greatly from having more space in which to operate. We would be able to accommodate many more youngsters, many of whose families are unable to afford the other summer camps operating in the area. We have had to turn down prospective campers because of space constraints.

Our congregational makeup has changed over the years. The financial impact of that changed has been coupled with the severe impact of the economic downturn on our community. We have more retirees now on fixed income, youth, and small children, many of whom have young mothers, and some people who are working age, mostly with working class wages. We need to build a church to better meet the needs of our congregation and community. We operate a food pantry and soup kitchen which would be able to open more days a week with bigger pantry space and a modern commercial kitchen.

As I stated, we are in the final stages of the building project. We have our permits, plans, and contractor selected. We are ready to obtain financing. The congregation, which has always striven to do much with little, has invested much in this projected over the years and the sale of this property owned by the church is the one thing that stands in the way of it happening. Please do not let us lose this property just so a few people can make a quick buck. Help us to pay off these tax liens so that our church will be able to help transform an entire community!

Help me keep my Rottweiler. She was a gift from my husband who passed away in 2006. Hello, I'm a 35yr old god fearing male married with 3 children. In 2008 my father passed suddenly due to cancer in several areas of his body. He owned and operated a small Roll-Off Waste Company, so what he did was rent out Waste Dumpsters for Residential/Commercial purposes for the disposal of waste and construction debri. At the time when he passed I was working for another waste company. We had planned for us to partner in the Roll-Off Company but due to his sudden passing we didn't get the chance to. In 2009 I lost my job with the waste company that I was working for. I Started carrying out the day to day operations of my father's business so that my mother and I could survive.

At the time of my father's passing he had some loans with his bank which he had taken out insurance policies that would cover the loans in case of death. One of the types of loans he had was a line of credit for $25,000 which the bank didn't offer any type of insurance for that note. My mother and I were left with this burden and since my father used his shop for collateral for the line of credit we're in jeopardy of losing it and the truck and some other equipment and assets that the bank claims is being used as cross-collateral in the case.

Our credit wouldn't allow us to assume the note and continue to pay on it,the bank did use some of the insureance proceeds from the other loans and apply to the line of credit around $5000.00 At the time of his passing the line of credit was delinquent. we were willing to continue to pay on the line of credit, but financially at the time money was tight. Eventually without us being able to assume the note,make payments,or get financing elsewhere to rectify the monies owed we were facing foreclosure on the property.

A judgement for foreclosure was entered last month,so I don't have whole lot of time before the property will go to auction. I desperately need to keep the property and equipment so i can make a living for my family. I'm a hard-working individual who's looking for a break and a blessing. The amount i need including all the fees,court cost etc. to retain my shop is around $35,000 The amount i need to pay off the bank for the shop and have adequate working capital so i can run my business and have opportunity for growth is $100,000

The monies would be used as following:

*Shop Payoff $35,000
*A Spare Roll-Off Truck $15,000
*Additional Roll-Off Containers $15,000
*Working Capital/Operating Capital $35,000

I assure you this is how these funds would be utilized.

I have been out of regular work for a very long time now, which until recently wasn't that hard to overcome. I just put a few tools in the back of the truck and found things to do. A very large part of my miniscule income came from hauling off scrap metal. It wasn't much but We were making it. After experiencing problems with my vehicle in Nov. and Dec. We slipped behind on our rent. The old apartment was in terrible shape and even had spots of black mold. Instead of trying to work things out to stay there I found an old house I could buy on land contract. It needs a huge amount of work but i know how to do all the labor myself. At the time I took it I thought I had the downpayment coming-It had been promised. After I got in, the financing I thought I had, fell through. Ok this would have been seriously difficult but doable, until my truck broke down and was so severe I could not have it fixed. Without a vehicle I haven't been able to make the money I need and now are in danger of losing the house. I desperately need money for a vehicle of some type to work out of. Even if that's all I can get. If we lose the house I certainly need a way to get my stuff out of it, and if I had it quickly enough i might be able to get enough money fast enough to keep away from eviction. I would let a person have a lein on any vehicle you help me purchase, or the house if i could get enough to pay the entire land contract and get a deed. Someone out there could do all of this but if many do just a small amount then it would build up to enough. I will make my pledge to you that if money comes in by small donation that after the the house is taken care of and a modest vehicle paid for ALL the rest will be donated back to Begslist to continue this work. I'd suck it up and stay in a shelter for a while but I have a son that I'd lose to the state if i cannot give him a home. PLEASE HELP

First of all, let me say that Im sure there are thousands of posts like mine. some are true, and others are not. This is my story.
I have always been a hard worker, with a good work ethic who is at work everyday and always on time and ready to work. I started work in the asbestos abatement field back in 2001, and life was good. we were finally able to afford to buy a home. the house cost 75,000 and was big enough for us to raise our 4 boys. then in 2009, the company i worked for went out of business, and did not give fore notice to any employee. I then collected unemployment benefits for the last 2 years. durning that time, i searched for suitable employment but to no avail. My UE benefits ended at the end of Jan 2011 which allowed us to pay the bills for Feb, then in March we had just enough money left to make the March house payment, but not enough to pay the other bills. since then, our Cable TV & gas have been disconnected, and we now have shut-off notices for phone / internet and garbage pick-up. Our only source of income is my wifes S.S.D.I in the amount of 525.00 per month. Back when we bought the house, we could not get conventional financing, but was able to find a private lender(at 10%) to finance the home. our mortgage payment is $730.00 dollars a month. if you do the math, you see that were on our way to being homeless. since im unemployed, and we purchased the home through a private lender we can not get refinanced. I have searched everywhere for some kind of help but none is available to us. so this is our last hope. First and foremost, i need a good paying job that will allow us to keep our home so if you have one that would be the best option to help us. If not, maybe someone could buy our home from the private lender, and let us pay what we can afford per month (low interest or no interest). We are good people, who have helped others when we were doing good ourselves and always give to our church and community when we can. We aren't looking for a hand out, and i willing to work hard to repay any kindness shown us.
