I am the eldest daughter of two ill parents. I have 2 siblings who have been the caregivers to my parents for several years now. It all started when my father got ill in 2007 with a need of open heart surgery. After that surgery he was never the same. He was a very successful emergency room physician and made very good money. However, he was off for several months from work due to his recovery period. Much of his savings/investments were depleted as he was the only bread winner in the family. My brother and sister had just gotten an apartment and were to start college when my father got ill. They withdrew from school just as quickly as we moved them into their apartment in order to help my mother take care of dad. My father attempted to return to work, but he was still having chest pain and major depression. In September of 2008 he was in the hospital again and needed heart stents to open up blockages. After that situation he physically could not go back to work. He was weak, depressed, and very withdrawn from life. My mother, bless her heart, tried to find ways to make some cash. She sold many pieces of her jewelry to try and pay bills. Regardless of what she profited, she was unable to fulfill the mounting medical bills, credit card bills, car payments, insurance bills, etc.
It wasn't long before she became gravely ill. In the summer of 2010 my mother had succumbed to kidney failure and had to be on kidney dialysis permanently. She had neglected to take care of herself while trying to take care of my father and their financial woes. Along with the financial woes, there were back taxes that were still owed and of course were impossible to pay, their house was falling apart--still is. By the end of Spring 2011, my mother got so ill and was on a ventilator at least 4 times in a 2 week period due to her lungs filling up with fluid. Finally it was discovered that she had endocarditis (infection in heart)that had ravaged one of her heart valves. This required open heart surgery and replacement of the defected valve. The endocarditis stemmed from an infected temporary dialysis catheter. She was in the hospital for over a month and a half or so. Needless to say she was confused, lost tons of weight, and lost the ability to walk or care for herself. She was placed in a nursing home for rehab, but several more stays in the hospital only made her fall several steps back on her rehab and she never has fully recovered. It was discovered that she also had a tumor on one of her kidneys and her kidney was removed in the Fall of 2011 and supposedly it was all contained and it was early stage renal (kidney) carcinoma (cancer). While my mother was in the hospital my father had trouble breathing and I took him to the hospital. It as discovered he was in kidney failure and they both ended up in the hospital at the same time. Now my father is on permanent kidney dialysis.
Now fast forward to present day April 6, 2012. My mother's dialysis shunt would not stop bleeding and she was taken to the emergency room. She also complained of right leg pain and ultimately she ended up with a CT angiogram. This test revealed she not only had some blockage in one of her arteries in her leg, but that she had metastatic cancer to her liver, lungs, and a site near her spleen. Of course we are devastated.
They have no money. The money they do get is always depleted as soon as they get it from Medicare. My mother's social security check went straight to the nursing home and still was not enough to cover her bill. My father would have to pay over $1,000 a month because Medicare would only pay for several weeks. Since she has been in the hospital now for almost 2 weeks, we have pulled her out of the nursing home because the expected us to pay over $180 A DAY to keep her spot at the nursing home.
Now we are faced with a surgery to fix her leg, a plan for cancer treatment, and no suitable place for my mother to live. Their current home is in shambles and I mean SHAMBLES. Roof leaks and is falling apart. I assume there is some black mold lingering. No central air or heat as their units are broke. Plus large amounts of stuff--my mother also was a hoarder. The house is disgusting and it has been hard to clean up with out major assistance and with constant trips to the hospital who has ample time (?). They live in a small town and it is very hard to simply get a dumpster to throw many items away. The house would have to be completely gutted and redone. The floors are sinking in and it is very dangerous. They don't have the funds to fix any of it and nor do I.
I have missed work several times over the last year and more with FMLA, but never have enough PTO to fully cover my own losses.
My siblings have yet to start their lives. They have been with my parents ever since 2007 to help them with everything. Even when my mother was in a nursing home my siblings and my dad would go see my mom every single day--we just didn't trust the care of the nursing home and rightly so because she developed a bed ulcer on her heel after the wound care nurse said it was getting better--not even close! And yes the blocked artery in her leg and her bed ulcer on her heel are related. The wound care nurse and the Dr. for the nursing home should have caught this medical issue.
So life has been tough, but reading about it doesn't even give it justice. We need financial assistance, a new home or help to fix it--we need a lot of help. I want my brother and sister to finally get on their own feet and do what they want to do. I feel bad for them because I was able to finish college and have a career, a husband, and a home. They have yet to accomplish their goals and it makes me sad and sick to see them so depressed. They are in their late 20s and my parents are both 65 y.o.
If anyone has a kind heart, I promise you I'm not lying. I have proof of all I have written about and I swear on everything--my family, my husband, etc. that this is all real. Thank you for your time and interest. If you can't help at least please pray for us.

I am a single father of 2 boys. I took custody of them when their mother was un-able to keep housing up. I am in desperate need of dentures. I do work a full time job, but with the everyday struggles of bills, gasoline prices, food, etc. I am un-able to put any funds back for my dental health. I dream about being rich and successful, and making all our financial problems go away. I don’t see how that’s going to happen with all of our problems. I want to go to college and get a degree, but I need help getting on my feet. Please help me and my family realize our dreams of financial freedom.

Hello... I am hesitant to post this as it feels a bit shameful and embarrassing. But times are extremely desperate and as the clock ticks, time is running out. I am a newly diagnosed HIV positive woman who is also pregnant with some other health issues as well. I've been unemployed for some time, and regardless of sending out my resume and filling out countless applications daily, I have been unable to obtain a job. I recently received a notice that if I don't come up with $3000 by January, my home will be put in foreclosure. I have hardly enough in my bank account for groceries, let alone any other bills and had the gas/hot water shut off just a few days ago. Things just keep getting worse! I'm willing to do anything I can for work, but so far no legit offers have come through. At this point, I am completely desperate. I don't want to be out on the street sick and pregnant. I have no family to back me up and am pretty much alone. So now I've reduced myself to begging. Begging for employment or any help anyone can give period. Nothing is too small. If anyone can find it in their heart to help at all, I've included a paypal link. Please don't judge me. I am not lazy, do not use illegal drugs or participate in any illegal behavior and I do not feel good posting this. Times are just so tough and the stress is killing me. I just want to keep my home! It has been a difficult month. The dog got attacked by cats over Thanksgiving and had to go to the vet. The day after we took her she was grabbed by German shepherds. Though she's fine physically, I worry that she is going to need training to calm her down on leash again. A drunk driver hit us last week and totaled our car. We have student loans that are due and precious little to eat in the house. We have one income but we need two, we need two cars but the one we had to buy is two years older than the one we lost because we didn't get much from the insurance company. Nobody is willing to hire me at the moment, after family emergencies, marriage, and full time classes kept me out of the work force for two years. Once I graduated, there was nobody willing to hire, and I got caught in an unemployment trap, stuck with a clean slate, all the right education, and no experience at a time when experienced people are filling entry level jobs. We worry about the coming year with rising rates and costs, and we wonder if we can make it any more. I would really like to be able to pay down on my loans. It feels like it's too late for Christmas, really. Our extended families are all limited income so they can't help at all. There's not a lot of hope around here and a whole lot of worry. I would really like any help at all. A little cheer, especially in the holiday season: a little bit of help for the car, the rent, the student loans, the fridge. I don't ask much, just if you stop by this, don't ignore it; contribute and pass it along. Help restore hope to our fledgling family. Help me show my husband that not everyone in this world is interested in taking and destroying.

hi i am a single working mom with four kids,i am living in a house that is filling with black mold,the house's sewage keeps backing up into my sons room flooding it out, i had to remove the carpet because of the stench,now it is cement, all winter long i had squirrels eating holes through my ceilings trying to come into my bathrrom, and kitchen,from the attic were they have been living,long story short, my landlord is a slumlord and is taking forever to fix it, i havent paid the rent and am NOT paying it because i REALLY NEED to move , i need 2 months security on a place that i found, i really need help, i have no one on this earth other then my kids, social services said i make $67.00 to much for them to help me..

Hello, my name is Scott and I am here asking for help because I... have run out of every alternative to get my life and my project studio business off the ground. It's at a dead stop. I was laid off in March 2011 due to company downsizing, could not qualify for unemployment because the previous employers "claimed" I'd quit. Job hunted on foot in Chicago from March to August filling out 4-9 applications a day, 5 days a week without a single call from anyone. Exhausted all of my bank accounts, can not get a load due to not owning a car or home, had to sell my car just to pay off debts, lost my apartment because ex-roommate thought it was better to steal from me and lie about having a job than telling the truth. My parents are in the hospital, so they are in no shape to help me.

The only way I have been able to contact people is by relying on my girlfriend's Internet, electricity, helping her cook and clean while "guest staying" at her apartment but know this won't last. I ask too much of her help to watch my cat while I continue to look online.




All I ask is for someone, anyone who can help. My goal is simple: I need to raise enough money to start a art design, publishing studio which would bring in clients who need visionaries to help make their designs, commercials, products, books, ebooks, animation using the next wave of 3D technology, FX special effects for student filmmakers in Chicago colleges, to help bring in interns and show them the pros and cons to hone their skills, and finally bring together Chicago artists who wish to have their talents and skills to create extraordinary work for any and all who wish to see it.

Bottom line, I need help. Financial help. I don't know what else to do. I can't get a job, for whatever reason, I'm flat broke, exhausted from sleeplessness and stress. All I own is a laptop, some clothes, my wonderful artistic skills, (my undying determination, good sense of right and wrong, knowledge of computer programs, business sense, sharp humor and a kind heart to make my dream a reality. I really don't want to live under a expressway but if things don't change, it looks like my next post just might be my last.

My family has been going through such difficulties with our finances since my husband was diagnosed with an incureable disease on March 2010 . I gave birth to a healthy baby girl we come out of hospital and dad went in , it was a year of several hospital stays and misdiagnosis. First rhuematic fever than a heart pacemaker ,than he contracted a blood infection because of a unsterile pacemaker this kept him in the hospital for 2 months & me giving him meds through a pic line for 2 more months and ulcers all caused by excellerated Rhuematoid arthritis .Than Kidney Failure and his lungs filling with fluid caused by Wegner's Vaculitis , its been a long trial but through it all God has brought him through thr fire. I was unable to work due to caring for my husband as a result I lost my position and am currently looking for work . My husband is well enough to return to work and is looking for work as well. His diability payments ran out and our Elictric bill needs to be paid today before 5:00 pm . We do not have the finances and family and friends are not able to help anymore . My huband and I have 4 children one of which has cerebral palsey but they are good and don't complain about our situation . If you are able to help us God Bless you and Yours !!!!!

I went into the hospital and received a W in the last class at my old university, I owe 359.00, and well I recently was in the hospital again for emergency Gallbladder removal, so I missed 3 weeks of work... I am trying to enroll at a new university and have been accepted, however they need my official transcript for me to register for classes, and well they are filling up fast and I have NO way of making the money I so really need. Any little bit would help...so I can start my future again and begin a better life.

My fiance and I lost our jobs, unable to get unemployment, filling out applications at every available place in town with no luck ro get hired. The utility bills and rent come due the first of this month and we have even been selling everything that we own, including my engagement ring, our t.v., some of our clothes, etc. We have even tried working for some family friends for some money but that only covered one of the bills..we are so desperate and are young and do not want to get evicted or get our utilities shut off. We are even enrolled in the discounted shut off protection plan for our utilities and cannot even afford the 55.00 a month for electric. Our rent is 395 and we are just exasperated and overwhelmed at what is going to happen to us if we cannot come up with at least that. Please help us, we would do anything and even re-pay you once we are hired somewhere.

I have just come across this website and can hardly believe I am filling out this form. My husband and I have worked hard our whole lives yet our current situation is making me frightened for our children. He is in construction and has worked steadily for 15 years yet was injured last year. We just had a baby and my work has been cut due to budget cuts in public schools. We are not receiving unemployment. We have even had to spend the childrens' piggy bank change for groceries. This is the first month the bills are going completey unpaid, including the mortgage and the fridge is empty. My children are not being fed healthy food. My husband, although injured, looks for work daily with no luck and is now working in the back yard building planter boxes for people to plant in this spring. This has kept food in the fridge but he has run out of money for wood and materials. I assure you, this post is very sincere. I have never experienced this type of despair. I can't even buy diapers. If anybody out there is kind enough to help, I can't tell you how grateful we would be. You would be doing the kindest deed which is helping another person in need. I can assure you, when we are back on our feet I will now have an appreciation for this type of hunger and despair and I will in turn, donate to others in need. Thanks so very much.

My husband and I have been together for 3 years now. Since we first got together we have had to move 6 times in 4 different cities. We have went through one rental contract after another, moving once each contract was up. Each time, having to find new jobs in a new area. This has taken a major toll on our family in the sense of having no stability. We moved into a new home back in November, a home that the owner's agreed to sell to us for CFD. Finally feeling as though we have some security and structure, we became comfortable, only to find out at the end of last month that the owners now want to sell it outright. We do not have the credit or job history to get a loan through any bank or lender. This is once again leaving us with no place to call home. And with it being such short notice, we had little time to try to make new arrangements. Now we have to move ourselves and our 2 young children in with my parents until we can get our feet on solid ground again. This is going to mean the four of us living in a single room that used to be a 2 car garage. This disappointing news was made worse by me losing my job 2 weeks ago once it was discovered that we would be relocating far away. My husband was let go from his place of work back in January after missing too many days after his brother was killed in a car accident. 4 months into the new year has only brought us sadness and disappointment, and I am to the point of putting any small bit of pride I had aside and asking for help. We are a younger couple who want nothing more than to provide a nice, safe, secure home for our children. We don't drink, do drugs or party. We have always earned our living the honest hardworking way, and we continue to wait to see that come through for us. We are both actively looking for work,filling out applications, sending in resumes and contacting work placement places constantly. We just need that jump start to get us settled into a permanent home. Because, it is extremely hard to keep a job when you have to constantly move. when i get married first night i get know that my wife is suffering from hole in heart,after few days she get operated in Shimla /India.then life gone smooth after 6 month she came from my home village to town and live with me where i work,she start suffer from fever for 8 months i consult doctors many time but they don't detect illnes .one day she feel pain in stomach next day when doctor done ultra sound he found 2 stones in both kidney 21mm and 7 mm
after this i tried loan and this was starting of loans on my head,when one kidney stone treated doctor said 2nd kidney stone operation will be done after 6 months,after 10 days my small brother get accidented from bike and late night i get phone call that my brother is suffer from head injury,i went to hospital and seen that doctors stiching his head afetr few minutes blood start filling in his stomach he immidiately refer him to trauma centre,that was my 2nd and big loan startup ..after 10 days he expire and i take more loan for his funeral.again after 6 months i take loan for my wife kidney operation.2 year later i take again loan for my sister marrige.now i was totally drown in loan.i got salary and full salary get in loan .i counted that this whole loan will be close in 9-10 years for that time i have not a single penny to run my home food, bill payments and old parents care ,now i donot want to take more loans please help me .i shall be highly thankfull to you
