Pregnant dog rescuer needs your help

Posted by Laurisa77 on 2012-01-10 11:58:29

I recently discovered I am pregnant with my first child and am overwhelmed. I am excited about the idea of becoming a mother and know that I will be a good parent. I am educated, hard working and love children.

I have been a dog rescuer for over 10 years, working as a foster parent for my local humane society. This is 100% a volunteer position that I donate a lot of my time, energy and resources to. In the past 10 years I have rescued, rehabilitated and re-homed over 300 dogs and puppies.

I do have a full-time job to pay my bills. I am a hard worker and have been at my current job for 6 years. However, due to the economy in my area, my income recently took a sharp nosedive. I am looking for additional work to supplement my income and/or a different full-time job (that is not commission based).

Unfortunately, my bills are now behind and my home is in foreclosure. I own a small farm in the country and have a great set-up for the foster work that I do and a great place to raise a child. Rentals in our area tend to be higher than what my mortgage payment is now ($550), so moving wouldn't be a better move for me financially. I am currently 3 payments behind.

With cold weather here now, my electric bill has spiked and is now averaging about $195 a month (most months it is only about $85-$90).

I own my vehicle outright, but it's older and seems to be in need of more and more repairs. Right now I am in debt to my mechanic $165 for brake work he did 2 weeks ago. It's an older SUV and a gas guzzler.

I do not live a fancy lifestyle, by any means. I do not have cable tv, high-speed internet, new clothes or shoes, expensive purses or designer sunglasses. I live a very modest and healthy life and do not believe in waste. I'm not a drinker, not a smoker and do not use drugs of any kind.

The humane society foots in the bill on all of the foster-dog related expenses (vet care, food, toys, etc.), so I have no money going out towards that. I have cut back on the number of dogs that I foster, from 2-3 at a time to just 1. I am a responsible foster parent and in no way a hoarder.

I intend to continue fostering up until I have the baby (due date is August 15th). I get so much personal fulfillment out of rescue work and I know will miss it when the baby comes. However, I know that I will want to focus 100% on my child and being the best mom I can be.

I have always been a big believer in paying it forward to the greater good. I'm hoping that this plea will reach someone out there who is currently in a comfortable financial position and willing to assist someone who is not.

I can, and will, provide proof of any of the facts I stated above, including a letter from my employer, a letter from the humane society director, copies of my utility bills, mortgage bill, etc., upon request.

Need Help Buying a Laptop for College

Posted by livelovelaugh on 2012-01-09 22:58:57

I'm a 19 year old female freshman in college doing a major in biochemistry. My major requires lots of research and reading from the internet, but I don't have a laptop. Right now, I don't care for a fancy laptop. I just need a simple one to do my research and download lecture notes. The lowest priced laptop I've seen in my area costs 499.99 USD. I sold an old textbook and received $100, so I need 399.99 more dollars in order to purchase one.

Would anyone be willing to help me out?

In need of a vehicle

Posted by MikeSolis on 2011-12-28 15:58:19

I'm 40 yrs old and have been permanently disabled due to my suffering from chronic back pain, leg pain and migraine headaches, not to mention depression as well. My partner of 20 yrs is the only one I have to help me with my daily routine. We recently had our 14 yr old Ford Escort junked because it gave out on us for the last time and we just didn't have the funds to repair it for a second time. This was our only mode of transportation for groceries, doctor appointments, etc. We haven't even been able to visit family in many yrs because our car was in such bad condition. Since I'm disabled, we only have my disability income as our one and only source of income as many of you may know, that's only enough to pay bills, and not much more, especially since everything's getting more expensive by the minute. If anyone out there, has it in the heart, after reading our post, and can donate towards our purchase of a new car, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't need anything fancy; a simple Ford would be more than enough to get me to my many doctor appointments, which by the way, taking buses, is difficult having to wait long periods of time, in agonizing pain, for buses to get to where we need to go. So again, if anyone can help, it would really be appreciated. Thank You and God Bless!!

Please Help

Posted by sandieb on 2011-12-10 15:58:42

The medical bills keep coming.

We got in over our heads when we had to use our credit cards to meet deductibles plus the 20% we owed as part of medical expenses.

All this due to cancer.

Which I still have.

I was diagnosed in 1997.

I am desperate and sorry to be doing this.

If I could work outside the home, I would. My health does not allow me too. I applied for government assistance and was denied.

I quit working to become a stay-at-home-mother and because of that my social security disability credits expired.

We have been making late payments on everything: including mortgage, utilities, and of course, the credit card.

We live frugally. We do not have any luxuries. No iPads, iPhones, or fancy toys.

Our two cars are quite old and paid for, but keep giving us EXPENSIVE trouble.

There doesn't seem to be any end to pit that we were "forced" to dig because of my cancer and the endless bills.

I even had to go without medical insurance last year for six months. I was terrified, but we simply did not have the money to make the insurance premiums. I went without medications and medical care.

My heart is heavy with sorrow.

My husband works hard, but unfortunately, just does not make a lot of money. He tries. Bless his heart.

I would be so grateful for any amount you feel you could give.

Thank-you for reading this and considering a good and generous deed.

Need a truck to get work

Need help paying house taxes

Posted by homeowner on 2011-10-15 07:58:58

We live in a small, cheap, dumpy house, but its our home. Its nothing fancy, its small, and we are crowded in here. We are two years behind in taxes because we both lost our jobs last year. My husband was self employed, and the due to the economy in michigan we had to close down. So, no unemployment. I worked two part-time jobs, and lost both of them. again, no unemployment. We have been living off savings, and selling stuff, but it isnt enough. My husband has put in over 150 resume's, I have put in a 103. No one wants to hire people in their 40's and 50's when they can hire someone in their 20's or 30's.

We just got a notice our house will go up for tax sale in March if we dont pay $1,700. We cant get a loan without employment. Our house payment is cheaper than rent, so selling isnt much of an option, especially since the market here is so down, I doubt we could even find a buyer. We don't expect to get $1700 obviously, but even if we could get something to put down on it and buy us some time.

We have three kids, our cars are 13 years old, and we have never bought new anything. We never lived off credit cards or run ourselves into debt. I shop at thrift stores, and coupon for groceries. Its not a matter of wasting our money, but being unable to stretch what we have to cover this. I'm sure there are millions of families just like ours. I promise that if we get help, we will pay it forward once we are back on our feet.

I just need $175

Posted by blackhawks77 on 2011-09-13 14:58:00

Please help. I don't have some fancy story other than I need $175.
My name is Crystal Stephens and I am 47 years old and single. I have a disabled autistic son and we have been through some very tough times as of late. On April 20th a tornado hit and a tree fell on our only transportation, our van. The landlord originally said he would have his insurance pay but after waiting over a month..he finally said they would not pay for the repairs. I have insurance but can't come up with the $1000 deductable. The estimate is $2,875. I am desperate to get the van fixed. We live 20 miles outside of town and need the van to go to doctor's appts and get to the grocery store. I have pictures of the damage if anyone needs some proof. We would greatly appreciate any help we receive and hope that you are our angel. I have raised my son by myself since he was 3 years old and put my health on the backburner while putting my son first. I am now suffering from many medical problems and am not strong enough to do the things I used to do. I am on 11 medications now and they run me $184 a month. I hate to beg and I hate being so helpless, but I know when I am beat and this is it. My mother, our only family, died in January of this year so we have no family support. If you can help us get the van fixed, I would be eternally grateful.

After the storm, we went without electric for 3 weeks. No heat, air or hot water because it also took out our service pole as well as the power lines. We survived it, but we have not yet recovered. Lost all of our food and we were unable to leave to get any food because of the van damage. The electrician broke the water line when he came to repair the service pole. We have been through so much and we both live on $624 a month so trying to get anything extra done is impossible. Please help us?

Any amount donated will be added to the van fund I have set up and used only for that purpose. I fully understand people being hesitant to donate and not knowing where their money is going and I want to assure you that this is a legitimate need and the money will be applied to van repairs. The amount needed is for the deductable and is $1,000. I do not want more than I need..I just want to get the van repaired.

The link below is for the damage pics and includes a Pay Pal donate button. Anything donated, no matter how small will be greatly appreciated. I can not afford another vehicle as I am still paying on the van and owe $3,200 to pay it off. I have never missed or been late on a payment. This van is what I need for my son and I and is nothing fancy, but it is mechanically sound. I will need a new front left bumper, headlight, windshield and hood to be able to drive it safely. If you have any questions or just want to verify..I have a contact form on the site under the contact tab. Thank you so much for reading my post and caring.

Need either car repairs or a better used car

Posted by Lorsch on 2011-07-08 17:58:40

The past 5 years have been tough on myself and my daughter. I work hard for a living, and we get by, but there's never any extra. Last year my ex-husband stopped paying his child support and although it's before the courts, I haven't been able to collect on any outstanding money yet.

When he stopped paying, I ended up having to move to a small/cheaper home, and had my car repo'd. I turned in my credit cards, and went to a cash only lifestyle.

I got myself a beater car to keep getting to work, and to get my child to school every day. Now, the car is on it's last legs, but I have gone through my savings, and have no more money to repair it, or to get a different car.

I don't need a fancy car, just one that works and won't kill us with fumes.

Again, I do work, I do not have any subsidies or social/government help. I pay my own way.

If there is someone who could donate a lump sum, or several who could donate what you could afford, I will pool it to get a safe vehicle for my daughter and I.

I want to also point out, that I do not drink, use drugs or smoke. I don't date, I don't go to bars. I stay home and raise my girl, and work. I am not frivolous with money and the money I can raise from here is most definitely going to a safe vehicle.

Thank you in advance.

I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids and a new baby, my husband works out of town in a different state for 4-5 days a week and it is costing us a fortune in gas right now for him to drive back and forth, he has to stay in hotels during the week because we cant afford to pay a security deposit on another apartment. We already lost our house due to the so-called "Government mortgage recovery plan", which is really a giant scam. Don't fall for it, they wont help you!
Usually my husband has to use most of the money leftover every month to pay to go to work, and the kids and I are barely scraping by. I just had a baby, I can't go to work we are always on the verge of getting the utilities shut off,we have pawned and sold everything you can think of. we are not irresponsible and we live very frugally, no cable tv, no credit cards, no fancy vacations etc. We just need some way to get ahead. I believe in "pay it forward", and I would be willing to do just that as soon as I can. every dollar. Im not asking for a million bucks here, just whatever you can spare.

This may seem like a lot to ask for but if anyone can help me with transportation issues, I would be most thankful. I'm not asking for anything fancy, just a car to get me from point A to point B safely. It so hard trying to count on others to give me a ride. I need a car so I can find employment. MY DAUGHTER NEEDS A BED

Posted by babykatt on 2011-04-03 21:58:40

I am a 33 yr old mom trying to get my 6 yr old girl a bed. I was in the process if getting a bed from a rental place, but when my husband lost his job, we fell behind. Now he is working again, but it is taking all we have to keep our small apartment and keep lights on and food. We are losing the bed. I have to find a way to get her a bed quick. I put a post up on craigslist, but dont know if I can get a quick response.
Like I said, we are behind on all our bills, but I think our landlord and electric company will work with us. The only thing I care about is getting my daughter a bed. It doesnt have to be pretty, just comfortable for her. If anyone has an extra bed, or feels like donating a little to help me get one, I would appreciate it very much. And I dont expect something for nothing. As soon as we get caught up, I fully intend to repay any donations. This way, maybe you can help someone else later.
If you want to contact me directly you can email me at cleanbristol1@yahoo.com
Well, I guess that is it, I dont have a fancy or heartbreaking story to tell. Just want to get a twin bed for my girl. Thank you for reading and God Bless

Out of work and out of money

Posted by Manandhisdog on 2011-01-31 18:58:58

I have been out of work for about two years now despite my constant searching for work. I have applied for positions outside of my normal field only to hear I am over qualified and am having no luck in my field. I have exhausted my benefits and am now falling behind on my bills. I am afraid of losing my car since without it I will not be able to get work. I am only a year away from paying it off. (It is nothing fancy, just an entry level economy car.)

I have waited too long to do this as this is the first time I have been in this position. I have always taken care of myself and helped others whenever I could. Now I am in need of help and feel bad that I have to ask for it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for any help you may offer.

Need to Move out of My MOMS!!!

Posted by Rose128 on 2011-01-11 13:58:58

Classic story. Single mother, age 25, of two small kids, ages 3 and 1. Their father left me for another woman and I am currently unemployed living with my mother, god bless her heart. I need enough money to move to an apartment, nothing fancy, just a place where I can take my kids so that I am able to work. See I am not able to work while I am living here, I have no babysitter. My mother doesn't allow their father, who is also unemployed being supported by his current girlfriend, into her home. Understandable, she's bitter about him leaving me. I don't know, therefore can't be expected to trust the woman he is living with, so the kids going to her house is also out of the question for me. Needless to say, I have no money for daycare. However, if I move, I would be able to have him watch the kids at my place while I'm at work. It's a win win..I wouldn't have to pay for daycare, which I most certainly can't afford anyway, and my babies can spend much needed time with their dad. He's a good father, just not a good husband by any means. In much need of assistance. Thank you in advance for your time.

Need 7000.00 from several people or a loan.

Posted by nontoxic on 2011-01-11 13:58:58

I found an RV for 6000.00. The house needs a lot of work. Not sure when ever be able to fix. I am freezing to death. The dogs are freezing to death. I think can stack hay around bottom of RV and be alot easier to heat than the house. House has no siding on back and windows has wholes around them. The ceiling has about 10 foot across that has no insulation and wall in living room about 6 foot across has no insulation. Needs to fix electrical and plumbing. I need some way to get by for a little while. This RV is a motor home. It is 1981. Nothing fancy just something to get by on. The house needed alot of work and even more now since the fire. If someone knows where I can get a loan or some organzation that can help I would really appreciate the info. Thanks

Help for Food and the Holidays

Posted by jnglgrl91 on 2010-12-06 11:58:58

The Holidays are coming and with my husband out of work, due to the construction industry fall out in the state of Florida, he works from day to day if he can find small odd jobs, doing his best. My company I have been with for 9 years and they have grown quite a bit, but now, seniority means nothing and they do not hire within the majority of the time anymore. There is no way for me to move up and I would love to just go back to school, but for now on a weekly basis, grocery's is my major concern. We have two sons, 10 and 9 and a baby girl 15 months old. I am able to pay my bills, but only end up with about $40 a week for grocery's. We do not live fancy we have four of us (my step-son doesn't live with us) packed into a 850 square foot condo in a seedy neighborhood. Thank goodness my mortgage is low, otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford it. My husband went back to school when we had the baby because we figured that was our only way to get ahead. He completed schoold for HVAC (Heating Air conditioning and refrigeration)it seems the company's that are hiring want 3-5 years experience. I would love to go back to school, but I have seen this happen to quite a few people. They go to school in hopes of getting a better job and struggling less, only to find themselves owing a big balance to the shcool and still not able to find a better job. Any way you can help one dollar can make a difference, when you haven't a dime left for food or christmas gifts.

I don't mind trying to save and do without but a toothache is hard to handle very long. Since I have been married I have lost 4 teeth. I have to wait so long between visits and I think alot has to do with stress. I would love to get some implants but that is last on the list. My husband had a heart attack a couple of months ago and I have not even open the bill yet. Scared to. His medicine if around 300.00 that is after what insurance pays. I am just so sad any more. Couple Wants 2 Escape From New York

Posted by mgiorgio on 2010-11-01 11:58:58

I moved to New York from Texas to be with my girlfriend about 2 years ago. Things are working out real well and we would love to move to Providence, RI to start our new life together but we simply can’t afford to move there.

Living in New York City has been a culture shock for me (we live in the Bronx) and the stresses do not out way the positives. I really want to move but, we are just getting by with what little we both make, living in a dangerous area because that’s all we can really afford.

Let's face it, relocation sux. It is the most stressful situation other than dealing with a loss of a loved one. Renting a U-Hul, paying for the gas, finding adequate affordable housing and securing 2 new jobs is going to be tuff, especially in Providence’s market. Providence may have its shortcomings, but it meets our basic needs.

Although this is going to be a task for me to commute back and forth (almost 4 hours each way) to try to obtain some footing; I am willing for the challenge to provide a better quality of life for both of us. Call me a Southern fool, but I want to do the very best for my girl, for our mental health, and our future.

I’m not too proud to say that we need some assistance in getting there.

If you can even contribute a dollar, it would be greatly appreciated. We don’t have any family that can afford to give us a loan, so we are giving this a try.

BTW: we are saving on our own; eating lots of spaghetti, toast, and rice. If we don’t die from carbohydrate poisoning first we should be able to raise a good portion ourselves. We need to raise about $1500 more before our lease is up Feb 28th. All monies raised is going towards moving expenses, trust me….we are not asking for money to buy a new pair of fancy shoes or a new dress.

I know that this is a lot to ask from strangers especially, since there are other people with posts with more dire emergencies. Be that as it may, we still have our hope and faith that with your generosity, we can make this happen.

Thanks Yall

Struggling with debt

Posted by woodburymnman on 2010-08-05 14:58:58

First, thank you for taking the time to read my post. I am not asking for donations due to a major emergency or job loss. Nor am I asking for frivolous reasons such as wanting a new car or other fancy "toys". I will simply be totally honest about my request.

My wife and I live in Minnesota and are currently expecting our first child in just over a month (mid-September). Last summer we bought our first home and also carry a pretty substantial amount of education debt. We worry about being able to provide for our child, pay the mortgage, the education loans and our car payments. In addition, I dream of being able to put money away for our child's future college education and retirement for my wife and I. If we could pay off just the student loan debt ($132,000), we could turn around and put that money into savings plans and pay down the mortgage faster.

This is where you come in. Any amount you could donate would be greatly appreciated. Every dollar helps and will go directly to our debt. Thank you so much for listenting.

I have been able to collect care package items from local mom and pop stores and donates through a grocery store (go luckys) that include grooming things like shampoo, travel sizes for shaving and candies and snacks, all things great for the guys, I do have a few things I am having a hard time fidning like perfumes/colognes, deoderant, nail files/buffers, but the stores are really trying to help heck they even thru in some vitamins. I am getting help packaging the boxes with an elementary school (summer school) down the road from me complete with letters from the kids for there appreciation for the work that our soliders do, I have it cleared with local branches of the army, marines and navy. They are kindly getting me names and addresses to send the items (bless their heart), I am having a hard time finding items for our female soldiers, things like, make-up (all kinds and all complexions), Nice Shampoo's or Conditioners, Hair accessories, body washes the things that give a lady a little confidence. I have a couple of things from my personal items but I am not allowed to send opened items and I can not pay for enough items for the 40 or so packages I am trying to send out for women only, which leads me to my Beggin. I want to pay it forward. It will cost approximatly 300 dollars for all packaging materials and the like. I am hoping to reach about 100 to 150 troops with everything I have, if you can not donate financially anything you could send to add to the packages especially the woman would be AMAZING nothing picky nothing to fancy (unless you can of coarse). Trial and sample sizes of all things are greatly appreciated/ needed. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
God Bless and I hope that I will be able to post some reply letters from our boys and girls out there fighting for us.
